Honestly that mention of Megaman makes me think of Eggman sort of being more of a Dr. Wily or Sigma now. In games like this and forces, he just shows up just to be the final boss like it’s some sort of plot twist at the end.
Sort of a more plot twist in Mega Man 4 when we realized that Wily was behind it, it probably was more surprising, considering we thought he was dead after the 3rd game.
Tbh, I liked this version of the game more simply because it had a lot more focus than the Wii U version. The bosses are better, the power-ups are actually worth using, the RC’s were utilized well, and heck, they even brought back the “crafting” mechanic from Rush Adventure.
What about the entire last half of the game? The stages were long and tedious, the controls were too slippery for the tight bullshit they wanted you to do, it just wasn't fun. Also, the less we talk about the special-stages, the better.

Venix GAM Same. Advance 1 felt like more of a mess than Advance 3. The latter 2 levels aren't just difficult, they're straight up frustrating at times. Take Egg Rocket for example. There's a section where you have to jump on a spring pointing to the left, but you never get enough distance and go into the spikes. The secret is that you have to Spin Dash INTO the spring in order to get enough distance. On top of that, there's very little space to do so, as there's a huge slope to your left and an Octo shooting bullets to your right, sometimes hovering over the spring. All that while you have possibly 1 minute on the clock. WHO DESIGNED THIS SHIT? In Advance 2, my main problems were how bosses were handled. How rings are sparse and how the bosses can be GRUELING at times because of it. The bosses I had the most problems with were (ironically) the earlier ones. The first boss is a matter of depth perception and timing. The second boss is hell, and I'm surprised that no one talks about it. The 3rd boss is annoying if you don't know that you can jump through the bottom. And don't even get me started on the 4th! Sky Canyon is annoying all around. Whenever you fall into a bottomless pit while running, you probably don't even know that you died until the screen stops. This happened to me way more than I'd like to admit in Hot Crater. Advance 3 had the least noticeable problems in my opinion. Except for the Twinkle Snow and Cyber Track bosses, those can go to hell. The chao aren't that annoying, the partner system is both a blessing and a curse, and there's an exploit where Cream can one shot the final boss (lol).
The 3DS version is perfect for a handheld adventure: I vividly remember a desert stage with branching paths, it felt magical navigating through it like Indiana Jones. Then there was a juicer level where I pushed fruit around and grinded them up. THEN there was a level in the sky where you can ride a rocket! On top of which, this is so much more fun to play than the other releases.
3DS Lost World was amazing in my opinion. The Special Stages are fun for me, since i'm a lonely introvert and i don't like playing video games in public. And the fact you DON'T get every Red Ring to unlock Super Sonic, and you actually have Special Stages is MILES better. Hard Mode is a nice change, since i recently just wizzed through the game and would like a challenge.
I've always wondered how good or bad List Worlds was and I knew it wasn't a bad game. At least the 3DS version is way better just like the DS version of Sonic Colors, as someone who played it and still have it somewhere (not saying the Wii version was bad but seeing some gameplay just makes it look fun). Lost Worlds deserves more recognition and love.
I'm SO happy you decided to review this game. I played it on stream not too long back, and I couldn't stop gushing it. I actually liked the 2D sections myself, they were a nice change of pace. Not as good as the 3D sections though. (6:00 Also I see your Emulator is messed up here as well lol) ALSO FINAL NOTE AAAAAA: the snowboard level is my favorite level i absolutely love it
Thank You for this video Other than this, the best parts of this game for me was Super Sonic's utility and the absolute blast I had replaying old stages with new wisps from zones further in, it really brings the whole gaming experience together and makes this game feel way more rewarding than just about any other Sonic game I've played since Adventure. One of the best reasons why this version is better is the final boss (which ACTUALLY takes some time to defeat) and the extra quotes, especially the " I'M SICK OF YOU GETTING IN THE WAY *EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!!* " one, it gives me chills

And my really favorite part were the extra zones. Edit: now that I have watched the video, I now remember frozen factory act 3. Frick that.
Funny memory to share, wgen I was like, 8 or 9, I left my 3DS behind a couch and forgot to turn it off while sonic lost world was running on it, wake up the next morning to get ready for school, and I grab it from behind the couch, and it didn't even go down a bit, it was still at max
The thing that stood out to me the most in this version is how some acts felt extremely long during my first run but then the more i played them the more i ended up enjoying the level design. Except maybe some sections that are a little too straight forward and don't let you blast through the level without completing a few mini challenges before you can move on to the next area, but for the most part i loved them quite a bit. ESPECIALLY Silent Forest act 3 with all the mini skips that you can pull off throughout the stage, making it one of my favorite levels to speedrun
Personally I never played the Wii U version so I always liked this one. But my favorite thing about it is that it’s the only 3D Sonic game for the 3DS. To me, that’s precious!
A few years back I actually played lost world 3ds a lot for some reason. Seeing the snowboard section always reminds me of Sonic Rush adventure and honestly it can probably work in 3D if given the proper identity
Nice to know I'm not the only one who enjoys the 3ds version. Its not perfect but I had fun. The game also made me think outside the box too because like you, I could do without the puzzle levels so I deliberately got better at the parkour system and RC vehicles so I can skip most of them
Maybe I'm missing something but this game made me want to smash the cartridge and never touch it again. (After watching the video): Your points are valid and I understand why you like this game and ironically I did like the parts you liked, except for the grind rail sections, but I feel that ending with the Eggman boss fight being a Nega Wisp armor rehash and the boss rush is what made me hate this game. The goodwill kind of faded for me after the last world and I allowed that to make me say that this game is bad. This version is not bad, it's okay, but not great. Loved the video.
Arguably the last sonic game I really enjoyed after Generations (and transformed if you count that) and even has my favorite level in the entire series as far as the 3D games are concerned (Sky Road 3). Yeah, its got issues like the overly floaty and sensitive jump, the forced gyro which wasn't a problem for me since I played in a swivel chair but I can understand the complaint, and it had some pretty naff levels like the snowball level you mentioned but overall, I really liked it. Also, one thing that you didn't mention in the video about why this version of the game is really good is that the multiplayer is legitimately the best multiplayer this series has ever had and it isn't even close. I remember having tons of great races in this thing with other people, I just really love how the game basically let you play any stage and you could make use of every single trick and shortcut to win. If they ever do multiplayer again in this series, I would hope they emulate this one.
I’ve loved mega man games *for about a year and a half*, but... The boss rush are only annoying at a varying degree that depends on the game. Unless you’re skilled enough to take them down on your first try, which i forced myself to learn in the mega man zero series.... I’m probably stating the obvious, but I don’t care, it’s fun to type!
Great video. I'm glad seeing more people liking the 3ds more than the Wii U one. I really hope the parkour system returns, and is similar to how it's done here. Also "Dimps being the MVP of Sonic", is so true... especially in these past few years.
And just when I was feeding for some more content from one of the TH-camrs I'm subscribed to about Sonic Lord bless me this minute thank you can enjoy the video response in the edit comment I'm going to have to try the Nintendo 3DS version of this now cuz I didn't play it other than that great video loved it got me really curious to revisit the game though
15:46 jokes on you,ive already watch the crash video because i actually like crash...and i generally like your writing, you're fucking hilarious and i accept every video you do. Please keep up the good work :)
Man. I was suprised to see such a positive review. I think this was the first game ive ever hated... and I played Minute to Win It and M&Ms Kart Racing. Anyways, nice to hear your perspective on this Garrulous
If you pause in a special stage turn the ds then unpause it will leave the camera in the spot it was originally in allowing you to play whith out turning you back
Great review. I'm glad to see that you liked this game too. Unfortunately, I was only ever able to play the 3DS demo but I 100% agree with your opinion that Sonic Lost World 3DS is a lot of fun. One day, I hope to purchase the full game.
17:47 Garrulous: yah know thats probably fine i mean, nothin bad ever crawled out of a portal to hell, right? Doomguy: you would make a great U.A.C. employee
I only played the demo But i really enjoyed it especially the soundtrack and level design Fun fact:I reached the 99 lives limit on the demo and felt proud lmao
Imo the only thing holding lost world 3ds back is all the gimmicks. The gyro controls, puzzle elements, forced combat. Other than that and the slight annoyance of having to hold a run button, it's alright.
I have played this game for 200 hours, gotten all the Red Rings, and S Ranked every regular, hard stage, and special stage, and after all this time it's really nice to see a big youtuber enjoy this game as well. Honestly eventhough everyone hates these Special Stages these are actually the first Special Stages that I was able to beat that let me play as Super Sonic in regular stages, although I'd only play them while nobody was around since I'd stand up to turn around while I played them lol. A lot of the time I spent playing this game is defintely thanks to Super Sonic and RC Vehicles, since you could do some pretty crazy stuff with Super Sonic/Air Balloon or UFO even in the hard stages since you could still craft and use 50 Ring items to use Super Sonic. You'd be really surprised at how hard some of the more annoying stages get destroyed by Super Sonic/Air Balloon or UFO.I'd be really happy if this game got re released on PC or Switch with gyro and touch controls removed and replaced with regular controls, but that'll probably never happen seeing how (to my knowledge) Sega hasn't re released any of their Nintendo Handheld Sonic games.
Nah he has a flamethrower... And guns... that shoot plasma... and lead And the flaming chain super shotgun... And the argent sword... And a constant barrage of fireballs... And his fortress... (The slayer has alot of flame related tools)
I remember getting this game in like 2015 with a 3ds on Christmas. We went over to my grandparents and I sat under a desk in the lounge and played thru to world 5 in one sitting. I had at this point never played generations on ps3, lost world on wii u and unleashed on ps3, so the 3ds games, and the wii version of sonic unleash were my first and only modern sonic games 😊
Playing this game for the first time as of yesterday. Gotta say...probably the worst 3D Sonic game. Other than maybe 06 but it's pretty close. It just keeps throwing lame do or die moments with Wisps, which usually control awful. Level gimmicks that seem confusing and stretched out to breaking point. There isn't a single wisp that is fun in this game and they have the most focus of any Sonic game. Even Colors. I just feel exhausted every stage. Currently on the owl spotlight level and I just...stopped playing. The level design on that is just a mess. The homing attack is also terrible. The range is just too far that you'll just go flying across randomly into enemies, often getting hit due to spikes. The stun attack is also, confusing? It's not particularly clear why some enemies hurt you and some don't. Like, the penguins? You're telling me the beaks are too sharp to homing attack? Man, I don't think I've ever been so miserable playing a Sonic game in my life, just isn't any fun moments. I'm amazed how bad I'm finding this game. Tis I shame cos I was looking forward to finally trying it out.
I feel like most times I hear people mention this game they usually find it to be a pretty miserable experience. Even I disliked it before I gave it another shot. Not sure why it resonated so well with me this time, but I totally agree that the Wisps are a garbage addition that bog the whole thing down. And the Owl boss fight is atrocious.
@@Garrulous64 I've played it quite a bit now and it's grown on me. Mostly cos when going for 100% you can kinda avoid the BS moments till last. So yeah, I kinda like it tbh. But it is still heavily flawed with some of the worst levels in the series.
not many ppl acknowledge that this is the first 3d handheld sonic game and it was honestly so magical to me when i first played it also unpopular opinion but i kinda like the special stages just standing up and spinning all around is kinda fun
Commenting cause you said it in the end of the video so you know who's actually watching lol. Nah but seriously, this was a very informative and entertaining review. New to this channel and I just wanna say I really like your style! I actually stumbled across this video as I wanted to know what other people thought of this game as I just got it a few days ago during the Steam Autumn Sale. I'm liking it so far even though the one I'm playing is a port of the Wii U version. I may check out the 3DS one in the near future though after watching this vid as I didn't realize how different it was compared to the one I'm playing. Anyways, keep up the solid content. Will be here to watch more!
Lost world 3Ds is easily one of my favorite sonic games as of now purely because of the parkour and how abusable it it Seriously, the snowball level can be easily with quick movement and wall climbing May i add that you can climb up large pillars as long as you do horizontal wall running and vertical wall running and just shift between both (they reset one another thus you can link them indefinitely) and this simple and easy strat makes you capable of bypassing certain goals like that first part of the level where the snowman face follows you. Just wallrun to the side of the nearby pillar and strafe to the back of the pillar to the other side and slowly go upwards till you reach the top to get the Quake wisp and basically skip the level by going through the quake wisp shortcut Its surprisingly fun, ive stood hours on that stage just jumping back and fourth on walls even on the second part of that stage where theres a giant mountain that has a snowball trying to get up by just wall running back and forth And i have done it, slow, but fun at least for me
I didn't enjoy sonic lost world 3ds.but I'm not gonna be a jerk and say it's a bad game and scream in the comments saying how much I don't like it. I'm not like that besides everybody has an opinion
That wouldn't make you a jerk. Even though I really did enjoy slw 3ds, if you were screaming how much you don't like slw 3ds in the comments, I wouldn't think "what a jerk". I think anybody with 2 brain cells wouldn't think like that. Just like you said, everybody has an opinion.
15:25 When I was playing that Giant Zavok part on the console version, I was terrified. That might’ve been the most fear that I’ve ever felt in a video game up to that point.
I love sonic lost world on wii u... on 3ds though?... i just cant get into it. The levels are ridiculously too long and it just drags and ends up boring me
I loved the game too, and I honestly had no idea that it had a bad reputation. One thing that I think you forgot to mention is that this game looks beautiful. For the 3ds, it looks amazing.
You can use X in the special stages to reposition yourself and not have to turn all the way around. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like anyone who reviews the game forgets that that's a thing, even if they show a clip of the text box appearing on screen.
Lost world was a fun time in both versions. I mean i get that people are shit and blame the game for their own inability to do a basic wallrun, or they dont care for the story, but there were fun games here. And hey man...the WiiU sold badly, but had really good games. I'm proud to be one of the 15 who owns one.
Im glad someone else likes sonic lost world (3ds) as much as I do. I could see reason to hate the pc and wii u version but to me the 3ds ver is perfect.
15:42 "Hey do you guys like Mega Man? Oh man, of course you don't. You only like Sonic, that's a silly question." Me, Someone who has played almost all the 2D Mega Man games: *HEALTH BAR LOADS*
Honestly, if there's one thing that people should learn from this video it's to form opinions on your own and give things time. Sure you may hate it now, but once you actually sit down and give the game a second chance, it might not be as bad as you initially thought. Media IS subjective after all. That's why I tend to stay away from game reviews, so I don't get biased and go with the popular opinion. When I played Paper Mario Color Splash for example, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Flawed yes, but I still had fun with it.
You know what's worse than that? Dust. You know why? Cause you let dust build up and before you know it, you've got an army of dust bunnies plotting to take over beautiful flowers where did you get those from our garden
Ive wanted to play this game since I was 7, but could never find it anywhere. However I got the game yesterday, other than the 7th special stage and the quake wisp, I quite liked this game, out of the DS and the 3DS Dimps Sonic games, it's definitely one of my favourites.
I love this game, both actually, as a young one back then, sonic always struck something in me when I played a new game of its franchise, and I used to have both versions until my Wii U sparked up and my friend stole my 3ds copy from me. I have a pc and steam so I can still play the game on steam, oddly. But in my opinion looking at it now, I give the 3ds a 3/5 stars, and the Wii U/Steam version an 4/5, I like games when they do something cool with it, trying something new makes a lot of sense, I bet when they were at the board meeting of this game, I bet they were like “what if we made Mario galaxy... but sonic!” I love a good chunk of games, and sonic always stuck out with giving something new each game, half of the time. The game is still good, I just like console games more than portable, but my favorite portable is on a iPhone and it’s five nights at freddys AR, and trust me when I am saying this, sonic can be good on mobile, they made the first game free and ad-less on the phone/wonder slab, they also made such thing as an AR core which allowed more ideas like fighting animatronic in your living room while you try to watch the simpsons, trust me fnaf AR is good.
I noticed the spyro shirt. there was a vid about legend spyro vs. sonic that was deleted. (spyro only won because he can't die unless he is killed and sonic couldn't get through his scales.) also, I agree, there are many lost causes that have been saved by an alternate version (or in the case of sonic forces, mods and fanfictions).

A few years back I actually played lost world 3ds a lot for some reason. Seeing the snowboard section always reminds me of Sonic Rush adventure and honestly it can probably work in 3D if given the proper identity
ah yes, lost world 3ds, I remember when I first got it, at a London drugs of all places. A worthwhile purchase if I do say so myself.
I’m biased against this game because the first time i played it, it was it in french and I didn’t know how to switch it off
Arguably the last sonic game I really enjoyed after Generations (and transformed if you count that) and even has my favorite level in the entire series as far as the 3D games are concerned (Sky Road 3).
When I was playing the game myself, I was able to find a way to beat Zavok in under minute, being using the Cyan Wisp when he did the laser cycle.
“The mines on the other craft now!” Hehe
I’ve loved mega man games *for about a year and a half*, but...
The boss rush are only annoying at a varying degree that depends on the game.
Unless you’re skilled enough to take them down on your first try, which i forced myself to learn in the mega man zero series....
I’m probably stating the obvious, but I don’t care, it’s fun to type!
I've only been winning the MMZ boss rushes thanks to the baby checkpoint mode they added.
@@Garrulous64 Baby checkpoint?
Great video. I'm glad seeing more people liking the 3ds more than the Wii U one.
I really hope the parkour system returns, and is similar to how it's done here.
Also "Dimps being the MVP of Sonic", is so true... especially in these past few years.
And just when I was feeding for some more content from one of the TH-camrs I'm subscribed to about Sonic Lord bless me this minute thank you can enjoy the video response in the edit comment
I'm going to have to try the Nintendo 3DS version of this now cuz I didn't play it other than that great video loved it got me really curious to revisit the game though
I thought I was the only one who liked Sonic Lost World 3ds
15:46 jokes on you,ive already watch the crash video because i actually like crash...and i generally like your writing, you're fucking hilarious and i accept every video you do. Please keep up the good work :)
Single Level speed running 3ds sky road 3 is a huge highlight in my childhood
Is It Ok That I Actually Laughed At The Yoda Joke?
That's what it wad there for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I remember playing the demo and being really impressed just by seeing a full 3d sonic game on a handheld. :3
I loved it as well one of the greatest game i've played in my childhood
Wait which year were you born?
0:03 That's what you get for having a opinion

Garrulous: yah know thats probably fine i mean, nothin bad ever crawled out of a portal to hell, right?
Doomguy: you would make a great U.A.C. employee
I only played the demo
But i really enjoyed it especially the soundtrack and level design
Fun fact:I reached the 99 lives limit on the demo and felt proud lmao
Imo the only thing holding lost world 3ds back is all the gimmicks. The gyro controls, puzzle elements, forced combat. Other than that and the slight annoyance of having to hold a run button, it's alright.
After completing both, I have to admit the 3DS version is a lot better
Doomguy must be freezing
Nah he has a flamethrower...
And guns... that shoot plasma... and lead
And the flaming chain super shotgun...
@@Garrulous64 I cant believe your not arguing with this troll

not many ppl acknowledge that this is the first 3d handheld sonic game and it was honestly so magical to me when i first played it
also unpopular opinion but i kinda like the special stages just standing up and spinning all around is kinda fun
While I still prefer the wii u version over the 3ds version , I respect your opinion.
I REALLY liked the 3DS version. I played and practiced it so much I was able to beat the Zinnia boss fight in about 8 seconds.

Definitely better than the Wii U version. It has better level design.
Lost world 3Ds is easily one of my favorite sonic games as of now purely because of the parkour and how abusable it it
Seriously, the snowball level can be easily with quick movement and wall climbing
May i add that you can climb up large pillars as long as you do horizontal wall running and vertical wall running and just shift between both (they reset one another thus you can link them indefinitely) and this simple and easy strat makes you capable of bypassing certain goals like that first part of the level where the snowman face follows you.
Just wallrun to the side of the nearby pillar and strafe to the back of the pillar to the other side and slowly go upwards till you reach the top to get the Quake wisp and basically skip the level by going through the quake wisp shortcut
Its surprisingly fun, ive stood hours on that stage just jumping back and fourth on walls even on the second part of that stage where theres a giant mountain that has a snowball trying to get up by just wall running back and forth
And i have done it, slow, but fun at least for me
Literally every joke is a "bro same" moment. That's my proof to show that i made it to the end bois
Dude, your beginning skits are getting much better! (Not that they were ever bad)
real ogs remember 10 minutes ago when the thumbnail was him waving his arm around
You didn't even comment 10 minutes ago
Playing Lost World online taught me how to really play sonic games, the multiplayer really enhances the experience and pushes you to be faster.
I just think that if I say something about slw 3ds I'm just being a jerk
@@thatoneguy-kg1hr I can sort of understand where you're coming from now
Yeah most people like to criticize someone's opinion and say it's worng
Huh now I want to try Lost World 3DS. It does sound much better than the Wii U/Steam version. Great video!

Garralous64: I Love Sonic Lost World 3DS
ClementJ64: So you have chosen death.
Haven’t seen one of your vids in a while
This was my first Sonic Game and I was like five or six when I got it, I’m glad there’s another person in the world that likes it.
Ive played this game too when I was 15 - 16 years old and I enjoyed it too
And Lost World joins colours in the "the handheld version was better" club.
15:25 When I was playing that Giant Zavok part on the console version, I was terrified. That might’ve been the most fear that I’ve ever felt in a video game up to that point.
Okay, I need to ask right now. What happened to the last one?
Yeah I Wanna Know Too
My man, your one liners are gold. I laughed more times than I thought I would
Always glad to hear that! Thank you 😄
👍
I love sonic lost world on wii u... on 3ds though?... i just cant get into it. The levels are ridiculously too long and it just drags and ends up boring me
I loved the game too, and I honestly had no idea that it had a bad reputation. One thing that I think you forgot to mention is that this game looks beautiful. For the 3ds, it looks amazing.
Funny how the portable games are better
Also the bonus stages can freeze in hell
You can use X in the special stages to reposition yourself and not have to turn all the way around. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like anyone who reviews the game forgets that that's a thing, even if they show a clip of the text box appearing on screen.
Lost world was a fun time in both versions. I mean i get that people are shit and blame the game for their own inability to do a basic wallrun, or they dont care for the story, but there were fun games here.
And hey man...the WiiU sold badly, but had really good games. I'm proud to be one of the 15 who owns one.
I mean, lost world is on pc. So that isn't much of an excuse to hate lost world cos it's on the Wii u
@@NoNamex1412 Also true.
I only got a wiiU 'cause it was slightly better than the Wii (I can still play unleashed on the wiiU so I'm happy)
Im glad someone else likes sonic lost world (3ds) as much as I do. I could see reason to hate the pc and wii u version but to me the 3ds ver is perfect.
12:59 You never saw a mgs speedruns right?
15:42 "Hey do you guys like Mega Man? Oh man, of course you don't. You only like Sonic, that's a silly question."
Me, Someone who has played almost all the 2D Mega Man games: *HEALTH BAR LOADS*
Interesting timing...I just finished watching a bunch of Doom speedruns, then this video's ending happened... Anyone got a shotgun?
Honestly, if there's one thing that people should learn from this video it's to form opinions on your own and give things time. Sure you may hate it now, but once you actually sit down and give the game a second chance, it might not be as bad as you initially thought. Media IS subjective after all.
That's why I tend to stay away from game reviews, so I don't get biased and go with the popular opinion. When I played Paper Mario Color Splash for example, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Flawed yes, but I still had fun with it.
I don't like sand.
It's course, rough and irritating.
And it gets everywhere.
FR tho sand sucks.
My opinion could not have been captured by a video better than this one.
Anyone who loves Sonic Lost World 3ds is a friend of mine. Glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed the game
I noticed the spyro shirt.
there was a vid about legend spyro vs. sonic that was deleted.
(spyro only won because he can't die unless he is killed and sonic couldn't get through his scales.)
also, I agree, there are many lost causes that have been saved by an alternate version
(or in the case of sonic forces, mods and fanfictions).
"Do you guys like Mega Man?"
*Perhaps...*
I don't drink coffee, so I wouldn't know what that's like.
Wow you released this video sooner than I expected
I actually enjoyed the 3DS version of Lost World when I used to have it as well as a 3DS and games for it.
