When I bought my G30 I had already rented and shot one...when I went to purchase it in another city, I held the G30s and the G30sf...went back to the G30 standard...shot it yesterday...tight groups at 7 yards...combat distance.

Is there a difference in capacity? Are the barrel lengths the same? Appreciate any more details you’re willing to share! Thank you!

What feels good to me may not feel right for you. If the pistol naturally points for me, I will shoot it well. It's my opinion a shooter should not have to adjust different guns to shoot them well. If it doesn't fit your hand and doesn't point well, put it back in the display case despite how neat it looks and how others feel about it. Very subjective subject
May i ask why u stayed with the tradional 30 after firing the other versions. I understand you can convert the regular 30 to different calibers such as 10mm and 22lr etc? And you cant do that with the s and sf. Is this true? Is the s and sf the same gun or are those different from each others. Im so confused. Thank you
The 30S is a Gen3 gun. Gen3 guns all had smaller mag release buttons. It has nothing to do with the Short Frame designation. The 30S is essentially a Glock 36 slide on a Glock 30 frame. The 30S has not been produced as a Gen4 gun.
Thank you for that! I’ve been in the market for another .45ACP compact EDC. I currently have an XDS MOD2 .45 ACP in my rotation for the warmer months, amongst others. I’ve really been considering adding a G30S to the rotation for the PNW winters. My primary’s now are G23C and Staccato CS. Appreciate your input!

I thought they call it SF for Short Frame and has nothing to do with the mag release button. It has a shorter Trigger Distance measurement. It was only made available on Gen 3s because the newer Gen4s has replaceable back straps.
I've never shot both side by side so if you say the 30s has a bit more recoil I have to believe you. I EDC a G30s and love it. I think it is a soft shooter and it hides well on my belt. An extra magazine or two makes this a great carry choice.

I bought my Glock 30SF about 5 years ago and upon checking, the slide is not an "S". The frame says "SF" but the slide is the wide 30. But I tell you, it's a sweet shooter, almost no recoil! I even like it better than my Glock 19 that I made it my main home self-defense bedside gun.

The ghetto bird , really. The difference between these two firearms is this. Glock 30s SF is the slide is thin the second thing is the trigger reach is shorter. The Glock 30 gen 4 if that’s what you have is . All gen 4s are basically SF pistols but also give you back straps where your Glock 30s SF does not have .

Check out the 48 or 43x if you haven’t already. Also I think Glock is coming out with a Gen5 Glock 30 MOS. That would be worth waiting for it it comes to premonition.

Yes. I believe you have a Gen 3. The Gen 4s are SFs (short frames) by default and the only difference is the grip texture. The S on mine is for the slimmer slide. You’ll love it.

May be a while, I finally bought a glock 30 gen 3 yesterday and know that it can't be switched but I'll never need it switched. No, they’re different according to Glock’s website. My S is a SF though. As far as I know, their highest capacity .45ACP mags are 13rnd. I don’t think Glock makes a 15rnd mag in .45.

Texture is the difference between the various generations. SF is Short Frame. Shorter distance from the undercut (trigger guard) to the back strap. Shorter trigger reach.
The 30S is only made in Gen 3. You're wrong about the magazine release being that way to accommodating the SF frame. The Glock 30 Gen 4 frame is the same depth as the Gen 3 SF frames. Just different texture, backstrap system, and larger magazine release.

Every dimension is the exact same. You can even call Glock and ask and they’ll tell you themselves. It was a marketing term for the .45 basically saying the 30 is a slim .45 compared to the 21. But the dimensions of the Glock 30 and Glock 30SF is the exact same. Same for the 30s. They all the same exact dimensions. Either way glock 30 is a solid choice. I carry a Glock 29 wit 15 round mags as an edc.

It’s barely noticeable. Agreed 2-13 rnd mags. Also Agee it’s a smooth shooter for sure.

Just fyi- the gen 4 g30 is also an SF frame. So the stippling is different but the dimensions are the exact same

The sf is a shorter frame than the original 3rd gen, same trigger reach as the gen 4 without an added backstrap.
I carry a Glock 30S using the same magazine from a Glock 21SF with 13 rounds plus one in the chamber. I have my service Glock 21SF from retirement.
I prefer the 30 over the 30s myself. The 30s has ALOT more recoil than I desired.
The difference in recoil is barely noticeable, if at all.

I believe they’re the Trijicon Bright and Toughs. They make them in all different colors.
I love the 30s, it's a sweet shooter. Only issue is my pinky finger gets pinched between the frame and the magazine, while shooting.
I have found that the Pearce magazine base plate makes that go away and gives room for the full pinky to rest. Makes all the difference

Correct! The G21 13-rnd mags and the G30 10-rnd mags will fit the G30s. I Go with the 13-rnd mags with the XGrips, you’ll be happy!
