Thanks for the G30 review! I wasn't sure about purchasing the G30SF I bought today due to the short barrel and my concern for a lack of accuracy however your video solved my concerns and I'm now a very happy G30SF owner!
I bought another Glock yesterday, the G30. Having only shot a full sized .45 before, I didn't find the recoil that bad when compared to the G26. Of course, I'm not even CLOSE to hickok's accuracy! Your videos are informative, and really fun to watch. Another vote for hickok on Top Shot here!
@@royrobles6555 Well, I'm back asking the same question on November 27, 2021. We'll soon be into the New Year 2022. Who possesses that target and are you willing to dispense with it? First, we all want proof that you own it, and then somebody will need to make an offer. I'm even willing to explore a bidding encounter for the sole benefit of a 2nd Amendment charitable organization. So, who now owns this target? And how can you prove it? Let's get it on, as they say.
It's now almost 12 years later by about two more weeks. I purchased my Glock 30 around 2006. I don't think I've even put 1,500 rounds through it over all thoughts years. But this video has a special place in my heart. Wow, almost 12 years later and I wonder who has that target.
@@billlee1724 Yep, the target is worth a lot more now. March 26, 2022. Who has that target? Is it a mystery like Buzz Aldrin's Omega Speedmaster? BTW, I just put another 50-100 or so rounds through my Glock 30 today at an outside range, all alone and to ponder the beautiful day in Texas. I also shot my brand new Kimber 1911 with the 7 round mag and the 10 round extra mag I bought. As good looking as the Kimber 1911 is, it us untrustworthy when it is new. It might take 500 to 1000 rounds for the Kimber to accept the bullets without fowling up. Afterall, for all the money we pay for Kimbers, why don't they micro hand polish the internal parts? Kimber claims their parts are "tight" when the leave the factory. No, they are not "tight", they are "unpolished" thus requiring a long break-in period. The Glock has NEVER failed on me since day one in 2006. The Kimber is very beautiful, like an Omega Speedmaster, but I would not carry it for self defense use until it no longer jams on me. Will that take another 1000 rounds, or will this Kimber 1911 forever jam up? Is it a trust worthy gun? I used reliable ammo, like Federal and Winchester. So why the jams on a brand new and very expensive Kimber 1911 .45ACP direct from the company?
Thanks. No, I don't hve a G34. As you can see from my videos, I prefer the smaller Glocks, even though I do have a couple of the "Big Boys" for special purposes (G21 & G20).

When every report and chart says that pistol "x" is great, I still want to see someone firing it and making honest off-the-cuff remarks about it. Seeing you fire the G-30 as effectively as the G-19 tells me alot about what my next gun will be.

Dear Mr. Hickok45, First of all, I would like to let you know that I am a fan of your videos for the excellent quality of information, the beautiful scenery of your outdoor shooting location, and that magnificent image of the ammunition bowl that I particularly love ( Hahaha)! Congratulations on the content presented! I recently bought a Glock G30 Gen 4 pistol and it was content like yours that helped me in choosing what I consider a great choice of handgun for carrying and self-defense. I wish you every success in the channel and in your personal life, extending to your entire family. Merry Christmas and a great New Year! God bless them!
@criticalflow , 80 yards. If you've seen any of the tests done in the gun rags, you see that there's very little difference between the velocity out of long vs short Glock barrels.
The G30 feels better to me, but I have a large hand, and the hump on the G21 hits me wrong. Regardless of what I carry and shoot the most, the two guns that fit my hand like a glove are the Glock 30 / G29 and the Beretta 92FS.
I will admit, I purchased some of my firearms simply because of your reviews and I am definitely happy with my purchases! Thank you Mr. Hickok and keep up the great work!
Thank you very much for posting this video. I'm a big fan of all your videos. I've been thinking about buying a Glock30 For a while now.Your video help me with my decision to buy this particular model Glock. Thanks again for all the great videos.

I think this is GREAT. My G30 ships from Florida to Gun Shop in High desert of California. Sign Paper work, maybe Friday, pay CAL fees, wait 10 days, pick up Gun. I was doing research on this model and some people said a “short barrel” VS 5 inch ones would lose accuracy using 230 grain ammo. WELL I’ll tell you, you were 98% accurate up to maybe 60-70 feet away. So much for other opinions. Maybe these others never shot a 45 AUTO with a 3.77 length barrel, SO THERE for them!!! Thanks Morrie
I have a glock 30 as well olive 3.5 pound ghost trigger it is my primary carry weapon. I absolutely love it very soft shooting for a .45 and by the way keep the videos coming they are awesome.
This will be my next purchase. Sending plenty downrange with my G26 and I simply couldn't believe how easy it was to shoot. Fresh out of the box, first time with a Glock and I was getting 4 inch groups at 30 feet without even trying. So fond of my old 1911 clone I didn't want to switch to a 9mm but boy I changed my mind quick. Have to say though I miss the 45, and this baby glock gives me a great excuse to give to the wife for a new one. Wish me luck guys.
You'd need to look at a lot of holsters and see what you like. The gun is pretty thick and slightly heavy as compared with other 9mm and .40 caliber Glocks. Lots of people carry it, but my G23 and G27 usually win out due to the weight and thickness fo the G30. Great gun, though.
love the vid!!! Big .45 fan. Just got my Glock 30SF yesterday to go along w/ my XD 45. I was worried about recoil and accuracy in a .45 w/ the smaller barrel on the Glock 30. I now know that is not an issue. Thanks for the info Hankock!
I love hearing the bird songs in the background as you continue to fire. They know they're not in danger since you "smoked" that pesky raven (that was terrorizing them) from your Edgar Allen Poe poetry video. Awesome!!
Watching your first almost go off target I was thinking WTF. But after watching the rest of the video... Very nice shooting. I've got a 30 too and love it!
I realize this is from 09, but somehow I'm just seeing it. I know Hickok will generally prefer the .40 caliber(23,27) more so over the other calibers/models, and while he shoots them all well, I think he shows a "little" more consistence with the 45. Of course he is an"Deadeye" with them all. Goes to show how many will repeat of too much recoil for carry, this video can give some insight. (I know everyone is different)
As of Aug, 4, 2022 it's now about almost 13 years ago, not quite yet. I still have my Glock 30 and I doubt I put over 4 or 5 boxes of ammo into it. My Glock 30 has NEVER failed, not even once. It shoots .45ACPs better than the Colt 1911 ever did, as I compare it to my Kimber 1911. I truthfully never shot a Colt 1911 with a 45 acp ever in my lifetime. But I've shot a similar Kimber 1911 Stainless II in .45acp. Compared to the Glock, the Kimber has had it's hangups, especially with hollow point bullets. But I've never had a problem with hard ball .45 acps in my Kimber 1911. The issue is whether it is appropriate to carry "hardballs" in a 1911 handgun. That's what the gun was designed to carry, but is it appropriate to carry .45 hollow points in a 1911 Kimber Stainless II handgun?
Thanks for that. I'm a cop in the UK and we're not permitted to possess handguns. I have limited experience with handguns through work/ We're going to NYC next year and I know we can't use firearms there.
Could be any of the above. I've not experienced any of this, but bullet "set-back" can increase pressure exponentially, I understand. Of course, a double charge would do the same thing.
What a great video! I can't believe how you sent every round through the center of that target and and how the gun hardly moves when you shoot. You should put all these videos together and sell them as a DVD set! I know I'd buy it (if the price was right)! The vids on gun cleaning and reloading are very informative as I'm just getting into it.
Yeah, I don't bowl very much, but when I do, I always wish I could use a .45 ACP. I've been shooting at bowling pins for many, many years. Until my son was six or eight and actually visited a bowling ally, he just thought bowling pins were targets! He was expecting me to rent a .45 instead of shoes! :-)
Thanks for your awesome vids Hickok! I recently passed the NRA Basic Pistol Course and rented a Glock 30sf. I shot 50 rounds of 230g FMJ and what a pleasure to shoot! A week ago I rented the same thing and shot the same ammo. My groups were all center mass or just outside center mass. VERY accurate gun.I want one now, lol. You really provide some of the best info on here...Cheers and happy safe shooting!

Only Yoda and I know these secrets. :-)
3 generations of Hickock. Awesome.
We are bidding as a way of saying thank you for all your time spent teaching and entertaining us.
love the vid!!! Big .45 fan. Just got my Glock 30SF yesterday to go along w/ my XD 45. I was worried about recoil and accuracy in a .45 w/ the smaller barrel on the Glock 30. I now know that is not an issue. Thanks for the info Hankock!
Dam Hicok your one hell of a shot with that GLOCK 30.
Those Talon grips make the glock 30 feel sooooooooooo much better to grip
Good Lord, what a nice pistol and man, you had some fun. even without the dueling tree!
I seen this video and just realized that it is 10 years old. Hickok45 hasn't aged since. Must be the gunpowder smoke.
That grouping though.
Love my Glock 30 ! Can’t wait till my 13 round magazine comes in with the grip extension .
Could be any of the above. I've not experienced any of this, but bullet "set-back" can increase pressure exponentially, I understand. Of course, a double charge would do the same thing.
Hickok45 never ages !!!!!!
@onoarm , I tend to find it easier to shoot well, too. Not sure about the recoil difference; they both shoot pretty softly with the heavy slides.
This guy's aim is unbelievable. I would pay money to learn how to shoot like that.
Always enjoy your videos. I noticed you don't miss much.
I love these old videos.
Hello Brother Greg,,,Amazing watching these oldies but goodies...So is this point in time when you started labeling your paper shot targets to maybe sell off... Great idea there...
Love from SW Ohio,, Neil
