Really great detailed video, thank you for making. Sadly my N47’s balance shaft bearings have completely failed, new engine ordered :-/. I didn’t know these were an issue otherwise I would have replaced them when I had the engine out for a new chain and seals 30k ago 😭.
It's the bearing that fails in the idler pulley, every single one I've removed is really rough and replacing can make the engine sound a little quieter - easy to find quality bearing from your local supplier press out and press new one in.
All n47 16d doesn't have the balance shaft from factory and runs nice
Amazing content. Will subscribe!
Very good videos!! I have a bearing defect on my N47D20d from 2012 with 218hp. When I took it apart I noticed that there were no balance shafts installed! Did anyone remove them beforehand or are there engines without balance shafts? Many thanks for an answer. Regards Rolf
try looking in the holes if they are damaged they removed em but they can drive without em its mostly made for comfort
I've seen so called replacement 2.0 engines with no balance shafts, you can simply remove them on the later N47N but the eariler engines they'll remove then turn the bush to block the oil feed at the back of the shaft (e87 N47 engines). It definitely makes the engine shake more without them fitted. The 1.6 engine is only fitted in the 114d & 116d efficient dynamics for example and these have no balance shafts, neither do the 6 cylinders.
👍😎
@CRANK what's your opinion on deleting balance shafts?
It will be cool experiment but the influence on the timing chains and the bearings will be seen on a long run
@@crank3646 agree with chain part, after all balancer are for smoother running so less vibrations, but imo bearings only suffer from tensinon and torque that it gets from pistons, not so much from given vibrations that could occure with BS delete
I've seen it a few times, engine is quieter but definitely shakes more.
Hey crank, i Need your advice PLS...i serviced bottom end BMW n47...balance shaft have some heat discolorstion around area of bearings...It Is Blue markings...Is It normale? Thanks you
Crankshafts have the same blue coloring, yes it is normal
@@crank3646 thank you very much for your reply...keep making this videos...youre the best! Cheers from Italy buddy!
Do you think it is good idea to remove them, my car does not have them, and it works find no hard vibraitons, nicer sound, btw i bought it this way?
I don't know, I have never tried to assemble it without them. I know Alfa Romeo engines can run without them
Ace ✌️✌️✌️
And one more question i get error low fuel pressure in rail, when i fllor my car at around 4000rpm, i have changed rail,HPFP, valves at them and sensor on rail, and fuel pup in tank, but sill i get same error and car enters limp mode?
