Demolition 1&2 is my favorite Kenny Beats beat of all time and Key is so good on that track. Super underrated.

i think the word y'all are looking for is "versatility." like myke, i enjoy this project but i don't hear "growth" really. it is impressive in a sense that it's so much different than what Denzel (or Kenny for that matter) has really done before.
I agree with C-Town on this one except I really liked denzil on these beats. Taboo is still definitely better but this was dope. Supposedly this album denzel was freestyling which is sort of nutty but it explains the relative lack of depth in the lyricism

Yeah he was just having fun on here freestyling, and he did it pretty well, and he sounded so dope on these beats imo

Growth doesnt always equal better rhymes, I think the bars are about the same but where I think his growth is on this project is the control over his voice and rapping over different beats. I also think its funny Myke doesnt think this project is growth but wants him to sound like he did on Taboo... lol

The rumour is that Denzel recorded the whole project after his episode on the Cave with Kenny. If that's true, he basically freestyled the whole thing and that shit is impressive as hell

Did you watch the whole review? They did mention that it was made in a really short time period, tho. Myke said 72 hrs, but he also said he couldn't quite remember the exact number and to not quote him on it, but they definitely talked about it.

Man this project took me by surprise. Zel was on a different plane lyrically and Kenny did something different from his usual bangers. They could have a duo or something similar to Gibbs and Madlib. I def wanna hear more of this from them.
This album gave me some Madvillain vibes with those weird cartoonish snippets, grimy beats, and Denzel spitting bars
His 13lood 1n 13lood out mix that came out this year was amazing too. But I don't think yall would fuck with it besides Feefo. It bumps HEAVY!!!

I fully understand Myke here I know he was getting a lot of flak for his opinion. My first experience of this album was mixed for me, but the more I got used to this style and learned about the album, the more I love it and it’s maybe my top album of 2020

Denzel Curry dropped another EP recently called Blood In, Blood Out that was different and harder. Review that. It didn't get much attention
Dope review, shout out to Myke though for being the only one to watch the videos smh, u literally have to for this album, its only 15 mins guys, it's a cinematic masterpiece, Beezy will for sure love it being into Anime.. and also wished so bad u guys review ZUU, u guys should do a poll for older albums u didn't review of the past few years, def wish ZUU and Pieces Of A Man was reviewed, also Evermore: The Art Of Duality - The Underachievers is a hidden gem I think you guys would all enjoy!

For me the project shows versatility, period. And I've heard both zuu and taboo to me personally, both were really great but unlocked was another level for me and my top three songs are cosmic,diet and lay up.
Shoutout to the crew, especially Modest for tidying these videos up.
I mean goin off of what mike said, it sounds different to him because he freestyled UNLOCKED like he did on ZUU but in a much shorter time (like the whole EP was recorded within 24 hours after his appearance on Kenny’s The Cave). So it might not be due to the different beats as to why the music isn’t hitting him, it is prolly due to him not thinkin for hours about his lyrics like he did on Ta13oo. Jus my thoughts, love you guys! (Btw, listen to his short little project he put on his TH-cam channel back in January, 13lood In 13lood Out, aggressive af)

From the person who’s been listening to Denzel a whole bunch since taboo I feel like this is the most accessible Denzel Curry album that because of lower quality but more compact songs. I don’t have to spend a whole bunch of time trying to get through the entire album I can listen to it and not feel drained after trying to listen to it.

this was the first project i actually fully liked from denzel. i feel like kenny really helped out with the beats and denzel just flowed over everything from start to finish

Like Myke said it is lake some weird underground rap fom the 90s. I think the cover is a homage to the cover of Organized Konfusions second album cover. The gloving fist, the buildings, the blobish goo that the characters are standing in. RIP Matt Doo the artist who did the cover for Stress: The Extinction Agenda and the cover for the Company Flows Funcrusher Plus.

I agree w Myke majority of the time but the intentions behind this project went over his head. It’s an homage album based on the music Denzel grew up. That’s too obv and they mention. It in interview w sway. Still love you myke. I sent him music fir a what’s in my bag vid in his channel 5 yrs ago today. just realized that. He also wore an el-p shirt & he’s my fav producer and top 10 rapper. Coincidental. I sent him one that wasn’t mine and didn’t realize until I heard it and let him know. That was a close call.

Oh there are a few other things. Apparently they recorded this shit in a day. Mastered it in 3 total and released it on the third day. I know there was a live performance of the project and apparently Denzel confirmed what I'm assuming most of us that watched the short film/video figured was the case due to it's ending that this is the first part of a multipart project.

I love the courage Denzel is showing as well, but its not like taboo or zuu. I loved those, but do applaud trying different things - i wouldnt want a taboo replica per se
this ep was also made in only like 48 hours, all freestyled
Denzel and Kenny wrote this entire project in the space of 3 days. It wasn't intended to be a super high-concept in-depth album like Taboo was. I think Denzel sounds amazing over the Boom-Bap stuff, and this feels like an introduction to that sound so that he can incorporate it into a more high-concept project later on.
For the longest i thought that it was Ski Mask saying whoa Kenny but it's actually Key!
