This felt more like going through memory lane dam remember when we watched Dontai’s reaction to most of these Artist and Songs back on the Main Channel the old days 🥲
Right like even other artists like scarlxrd and shit it's just crazy how much time has passed
@@braybray2269 i remember when he blew up i hated him cus i thought he was stealing x flow

I love that Patrick CC made a video on this. It’s just shows that the genre spread out and evolved over the years.

I feel like TikTok has become the new era for rappers to blow up now.
I agree
agreed
Fact
But these artists still come from SoundCloud there fans just so happen to post there music on tiktok
@@dae1396 true
Seeing this makes me realize how long I've been following Dontai. It's been a ride Dontai, keep up the content
Kind of a beautiful thought honestly
hip hop expanded and evolved so much last decade
On god these old heads just don't wanna admit it
@@dabs.47 they are to old to understand 🥲
@Dion Tulua stop it.
@Dion Tulua find god
I miss you and R A y’all was going crazy in imdontai comment section back in the day
i been on soundcloud since 2013 and listened to all these artists he named. Its been an amazing trip, i still go back time to time to listen to my old x or bones playlists, and think about the old times. Also back when dontai uploaded almost everyday on his main channel and still mentioned zilla lmao
Bones in his prime was fiiiiire

SoundCloud was literally homies making music .. this era holds a close place in my heart .. I met 2 of my bsf in this era .. singing love scars Acappella walking home high out my mind .. like you could feel the fun or the rebellious energy in the music .. lil yatchy, madein Tokyo and xxx was my favorite artists .. the nostalgia and good feelings are just washing over me .. thanks Tai ❤️
Im jus sayin its still there it just moved to tik tok. Same typa community. People promotin music n its acc good. Its not as big yet but alot of the soundcloud rappers who didnt really break into the mainstream yet are prolly goin to soon because of tik tok. Thatll make it big enough for smaller rappers to blow up too
@@smokegass1661 tbh it’s like a fraction there it will never be the og sound cloud era and all these rappers switching they styles up and forgetting there og fans like trippie redd I use to think he was fire in 2017- mid 2018 but he don’t hit the same no more same with Carti in my opinion he’s still fire but not the og Carti
To be fair, everyone talks about having fun and enjoying the ride even if it means making a joke out of existing institutions like XXL. Now most of the Sound cloud rappers are gone, a few have become superstars, and the institutions that made them (XXL and Soundcloud) are dead due to the generation they bred through their fans. Always happens like this, starts off as "lets have fun" and then all you can do is reminisce bc theres nothing left in the present.
The wave died but they're still goin hard af especially bones pouya and G59 and obviously Denzel uzi and Carti 🔥 I fr wouldn't trade to grow up in 90s or the future over 2011-17
Been following them for a long time, like 2015-2016 I dont think they were ever called soundcloud though
@@kubobetterrelax7435if you're referring to bones and G59 ($uicideboy$ and Ramirez to be exact) then yea they were part of the "emo SoundCloud wave" bones is fr the originator of it people like X and peep were heavily influenced by him, X used bones' beats/songs in the beginning of his career "ghost" and "elephant in the room" for instance and peep collabed with SESH producers early in his career also $uicide has bones in their first kys EP
th-cam.com/video/T754DEypc3k/w-d-xo.html
I still don't like how Denzel Curry is getting grouped with mumble rap
He literally is rapping and lyrical
He respects the game more than the others
And quality music
Denzel one of the best of his generation, along with jid
th-cam.com/video/T754DEypc3k/w-d-xo.html
@YayaXD Suck it but that’s not what he was talking about tho nobody is wrong in calling Denzel a SoundCloud rapper but calling him a mumble rapper is where it goes to far not all SoundCloud rappers are mumble rappers ya dig
shhhhh
"SoundCloud rap" or whatever it ends up being called in the future became a thing as a first instance where an independent scene could explode without a label through the internet. But now this is the norm. It's not indie anymore. Record labels have direct pipelines to whatever is making waves on social and the game has been figured out and is now a known process. Things are no longer organic they're just derivatives of what came before. The mid-10s really was a different time and it was exciting to see it blow up. I'm about the same age as Dontai and been a bucketeer for a minute. This was a fun video looking back on everything and seeing how things grew and evolved.
Love to see Patrick cc get some Recognition

Pure nostalgia bro, I first got soundcloud in 2015, My first artist i dove into was X back in 2016 and remembering what he was going through! Than i discovered Lil Pump, Ski Mask and Trippie. I miss those years man 2015 - 2018, RIP X, Peep and Juice! This was a W vid
Also, This was also nostalgic for me cause i would also hope Dontai and my other favorite reactors reacted to a certain song or album i liked by a couple of my favorite soundcloud artists
Same
Crazy how underrated BONES is, he has 80+ albums. 😳
dontai so right the songs that were dropped by these artists on soundcloud sounded legendary from the first listen
I remember this era and to see what it is now is crazy. Everyone from that cover blew up.
I really really learned a lot watching this vid, thank U ImDontai & Patrick
I’d kill to go back in time to when YBN was popping off and Tay K did the Race, I truly miss that era of hip hop.
fr man tay-k had so much potential 😓
This is a certified hood classic
The fact we had a way for different kinds of artists to come up and we lost it is so sad
Pains me
The XXL releases were LIT, I was the only nigga here in Italy that watched your video and your reactions to soundcloud rappers, felt like an exclusive club, shootout my Bucketeers bro
Soundcloud era was so legendary. Young dudes making music in their bedrooms and reaching million of people. There wasn't as much of a struggle for artists to get their stuff heard. If it was fire enough it was gonna start circulating.
W ERA. so many memories, i remember jus looking around soundcloud and discovering sm amazing artists. will never forget it
As a fan who came across a lot of the early sound cloud rappers an dontai around 2015 this whole video really was just 20 mins of pure nolstagia an reminiscing
Omfg I’m a fan of both you guys this is so cool. Please make this a thing
Kinda a flex growing up in the 2000s, everything was so vivid, music was the first thing i went to for everything lol.
*Dontai singing 7am was the funniest thing* 😂😂
vro at 25:20 said many good songs were dropped in 2017 & added a Wil Wkies Wyrical Wemonade video! I loved that shit
"go ahead and pass me the aux so we can get into today paid promoted song, let me get that" and then he plays the worst songs ever😂😂
😂 that's the reason i stopped watching the youtube vids on god
I remember watching compilations of video game clips with underground artists like X and ski as well as suicideboys in 2016 and finding dontais channel trying to find the songs. can’t believe how long it’s been, bucketeer gang 😈😈😈😂
11:25 Even with trippie. When miss the rage blew up and Trip at Knight was doing well, there was a whole technopop beat wave for a bit there and we’re just not climbing out of it lol
man i remember the 1st time i started watching dontai like 4-5 years ago ina crocgangent reaction LOL i was obssed with croc gang and saw dontai reacton and fell in love with this mans channel
No one talking bout the fact that Dontai stopped because he didn’t want to get more views than Patrick. That’s a real friend
2:20 this is crucial. every artist he listed in the beginning that you related to dontai were LATE ASS SOUNDCLOUD RAPPERS. soundcloud rap was like BRK shit back in 2011.
Yea…I watched the video too bro…and was there…
@@ImStillDontai. you still shoutin out the jockers though smh. love your stuff still stay you 😎
@@ImStillDontai. LMAO my bad i listened to the video instead of watching... they literally showed xavier wulf...

somewhere around 23:50 someone said "eminem be creating words" or sum shit like that on the chat haha
16:10 funny you said that because that’s literally how I heard of Night Lovell and Denzel Curry. Their songs were on “edgy memes” and that was my first introduction to them. Same with Fukkit, X, and Yung Lean.
I missed out heavily on this era, I was ignorant in the way the old heads were, I just saw it as mumble rap and never gave it a chance, then I heard everyone in my school playing gucci gang so then I got into listening to lil pump, that moved onto uzi with him blowing up in the mainstream, all my friends at this time had been on soundcloud since mid-late 2016-2017 and I’d always hear them talking about it but as I said I just saw it as mumble rap and never gave it a chance, then x died and my friend posted it on his Snapchat story so I checked him out to see what happened and then that’s when I discovered his music, the day after he died, that moved me onto ski’s music, later juice wrld who I thankfully didn’t dismiss as mumble and properly got into his music and even until last year I never really gave people like carti or trippie redd a chance, like a listened to their big hits but never delved into their discography. Shame i was ignorant to the new wave otherwise I would’ve been able to witness the true soundcloud era instead of experiencing it through old TH-cam videos 3 years after it happened.
I was gonna watch this later and now you made a reaction to it, nice
i got goosebumps watching this ngl this was so nostalgic
I like how cloud rap sounds, we going need a come back🥴
10:08 i had the same reaction for peso pete love that man
Y'all remember when everyone was saying and trying to prove Kid buu was a clone and had a twin💀💀💀💀💀
to this day, Lil Dicky just giving a thumbs up in the 2016 freshman picture still cracks me up
I respect Dontai for letting his boy get some views
I feel old for knowing all these artists when they first came out 😅
we getting to that age eventually bruh 💀my knees lowkey be hurtin out of nowhere and shit
I just wanna say, you make my day every time dontai, thank you man, much love
good times when dontai loved his yt viewers
13:34 the artists that ran the underground scene for so long
Funny thing is a lot of the mumble rappers evolved to make music with actual audible lyrics. 21 had a blow up fr.
You sound uneducated half of them weren’t mumbling in the first place I think people forget the definition of mumbling
@@TFM_Vibe enough of them were that they all got painted with the same brush. You didn’t know what they were saying. Their lyrics didn’t stand out as much as the booming production like a gargled mess. If you liked it fine but don’t act like they haven’t gotten much better since then.
@@y.o.s6000 they have but that comes with it the craft if you’re passionate enough
@@TFM_Vibe and were all of them passionate enough? Do you think those who are still around today would be if they weren’t?
@@y.o.s6000 going down the list of
Who’s in this video yea I’m their own ways but I’m not Saying you’re wrong
About them being better and I think
That no they wouldn’t be around today still if they weren’t passionate enough but Denzel never mumbled, 21 never mumbled just street rap, uzi doesn’t mumble but it is a different style
Of music yatchy doesn’t mumble
And Kodak is just illiterate off the drugs
So I’ll give you that one cuz he does
Mumble alot
I need pics of the rappers who copied the whole look but never panned out 😭
7:30 Soulja would be mad asf boy
Hey dontai I been watching your videos for about 1 year in a half now and during that year I seen mostly all of your videos and I really enjoy them especially THE WOLF AMOUNG US that's my favorite gaming video from you. But keep up your grind Dontai Your number 1
I love the soundcloud era and the artists from it cus they showed us a whole new side to rap, prior to it there was artists who prioritised sound but in general lyrics were what mattered, the soundcloud era made it ok to not have any lyrical substance in the songs and of course some people think that’s the worst part of modern rap but i think it’s the best. Like imagine carti and uzi for example made their songs but tried to have good lyrics, if they really tried their hardest it would take away from the sound and would sound ass, them prioritising sound showed the world their talent, if they came out 10-15 years prior they never would’ve made it despite how much talent they have
i just watched the video earlier and now the goat dontai reacts to it great day w video
This brings back memories bro when dontai use to have that dusty ass bucket hat and zilla background in his garage 🥲
Great video and that was dope of donti to stop the video, to got watch the rest of it on patrick channel. With that being said peace ✌
ITS JUST CRAZY TO THINK I WAS HERE FOR MOST OF THIS IN THE OLD CHANNEL
I saw the video but dontai's reaction are the best it's like a must watch
Wow Xavier Wulf had a popular meme song & was a Raider Klan member just like Denzel Curry & SpaceGhostPurpp
Hey dontai huge fan man watched sense 2017-2022
Hey🥵
It’s sad that there’s no organic way to start up as a rapper nowadays, like nowadays i feel like u need to know someone or u need to have money behind u to reach out to a label and basically be an industry plant which really sucks for those who really have talent but just can’t find the right producer or the right promotion methods etc. We all see those comments like “i’m a new rapper check out me music” on threads but instantly everyone’s reaction is “u not gonna make it lil bro” instead of trying to help them make it like when we used soundcloud we gave EVERYONE a chance, now if u don’t have atleast a little bit of motion u won’t make it. Also don’t get me started on those who blow up off a tiktok sound, artists who have genuine talent have been forced to try blow up via tiktok cus what other way do they have
Uber everywhere was 🔥
I think it’s so funny that in like 10 years Lil Yachty is gonna be considered a gatekeeper
4:07... ayo..
Smart Idea dontai for not watching the full vid and letting Patrick get some money because I was super confused on why it was cut short XD
We all used to hella love Jumex. This made me realize how fast good shit goes away bruh. I miss so many of those artist.
we?????
Whose we?
got me reminiscing on the old dontai w that DUSTY ASS bucket hat but he was stilly funny af
This is a W video and W Patrick man, ALSO W dontai for stopping the video there, he didn’t have to but that’s A W
miss them days 💯
This video was so nostalgic
This is the era of getting your songs in memes and tiktok edits , then ppl start asking for the name
Yeah FNG went crazy in ‘16-‘17 but the realest ones were reppin Bucket Hat with Dontai 😂 simpler times
i kinda only really watch the youtube videos so tai u gotta explain why u got a hat that say bone daddy
We was in class watching the interviews and freestyles

so many good memories with dontai and his dusty 🧢
Nice to see Polarsaurusrex make a quick cameo on the stream
New era to blow up your shit gotta be melancholic or reminiscence.

11:11 nah i think smoke purp had that sound signature way before yeat but that's just imo.

Found dontai when bhd mentioned him in a vid a whiiiiiile back 😮💨
Dontai: who is this? I wanna hear the song
“Young Booty” - some dude in chat
No cap that was the golden age arc
All of these remind me of dontai’s zilla era, makes me wonder if zilla ok :)
Been on soundcloud since 2016 kinda close to the end of it but its alr. Ever since then ive known atleast 30+ artists and almost 2,300 songs word for word. Ill say this, the lesser known ppl have the best music.
If anyone wants to go back into soundcloud and listen to some artists that arent heavily influenced by tiktok trend songs(no offense):
Ayce Comet, LATRELL,Lerado Khalil, 333stain, Aftertheparty(that guy who long look at me! Ik some of yall remember those covers), 777kplus, Mkyfm, slutty sonny, and 407Tennet. They wont be near to the old eras but they are really creative with their music and jus havin fun with it tbh
I saw the date and It’s Juices passing, so before I finish the video, my prediction is that Juice was the last biggest rapper that no other rapper can be as big as them and Juice was the last one
nothing that is dead is forever gone.
Kashdami, Baby Santana, Yvngxchris, Capzlock, Summers, Autumn and a fiew niggas, they bringin it
back fr fr.
this vid made me feel 14 again my heart breaking
