nice tutorial I've used this design for a long time but months ago i made one more than 6 long about 40 long it would work for a day stop working and let thing go in the wrong chests I'd fix it reset everything work for a day so i gave up on i but i use many just like this with 3 to 6 chests and never have any issues with them got any ideas
So actually something I’ve found while trying to help others is, to instead put 41 of that item in the sorting hopper, and only 4 placement items, and this seemed to fix the issue they were having, if you do try this let me know if it helps your situation.👍
as i said i'v never had issues with small shorter in the 5 to 6 chest range but the one big one I tried just would not work been a few months I might try to get it working again
When the chest gets completely filled up I want it to go into the overflow chest but the hopper locks and then unlocks the one next to it breaking the whole system is their an easy fix to this
You could have the last hopper on the lower set lead into a dropper that shoots into a water elevator. This water elevator will go to the set above. Make sure the water flows over the hopper on the higher set, and that the items make their way into it.
If you have a lot of chests instead of doing the hoppers on top do a water stream it helps a lot. And space it out with water stream. And then five blocked place a pressure plate and then water stream after it and repeat till at the end for a good amount of efficiency.
Leanne van Kessel Just continue the line. Instead of adding the chest for junk at the end just continue the chests with hopper and the redstone as well.
This only works with stackable items!👍
what if the item is non stackable but goes into the trashchest anyways?

I used this but sometimes my sorted items goes to the trash chest??
This may be from the items moving too quickly.
