I've fell in love with Keitech mono spin jig. It's really small and the only trailer to use is your Drop Craw. I use their bluegill flaah and pair it with a Fishalicious color Drop Craw. Hands down, best setup I use for Micro finesse jigs. If I'm out of Ned Bombs, I usually break off my finesse worms and use them. Not a bad choice when you have to improvise. Dye pens definitely turn a icecile into a bluegill color pretty fast. Micro jigs can be fished all day, everyday pretty much in the south. I've been using them for many years and I've changed jigheads to fit the application as well. EWG'S have their place & one I use quite often. Love using Zman mushroomz as well. When it comes to finesse,...... you'd be surprised what really does work great
Strikeking used to make tiny jigs long ago. Can't remember the series of baits but the little jigs they had we used on ultralights and it started my love for bass fishing in general. Glad to see they're being introduced for another generation to enjoy.
@@steezy3998 Maybe a micro version but they were definitely smaller then the bitsy bug jig of today. These things were about the size of a quarter with a head size of 1/32 and 1/16. Tiny little things. They made them back in the early to mid 90's, I haven't seen any in many years. Bitsy bug jigs still catch a ton of fish but I like the baby boo jigs better myself.
Started throwing them earlier this year around ponds to help build confidence in jigs period. Just got my first Missile micros and I love em. Just need the ice to thaw to put them to use. Such a killer pond bank fishing bait in the summer when the bite is tough
I love these little jigs. Definitely great for smallmouth bass! Dill pickle was a big deal for me last year, caught my pb smallmouth on it in June 2020. Great video John. Thanks
Micro jigs are definitely in a league all their own. Sloan Bait co. used to make a twin grub and skirt that you could build your own Creepy Crawler jig. And just before he went under, he offered a smaller version and I wore out some fish all over the south east US. Glad you did cover the subject & your colors of choice. Thanks for sharing 👍
I have a few of these micro jigs and throw a 2 inch trailer on them. I use an ultra light rod and 4lb test and they work well in NJ with small mouths and bass.
I picked up some of these for smalle river smallies this summmer here in Wisconsin. Excited to try them. That Sunfish IPA is a killer in murky water with the Ned Bomb.
man it was pretty cool how you brought up the Susq. river here in pa ive fished this river my whole life i live literally 2 mins from it in the northeast part of pa but not many ppl know about this river and how good it can be
May be overkill. But bought a penn squadron III medium light rod(guessing it's like a medium-medium heavy freshwater rod) paired with a bg 3000 with 10lb braid and 10lb fluoro. And love it for the zman finnesse jigs like the one your using and with the ticklers as it's trailer or the craw by zman. And so I love it. Then use a medium light freshwater rod for doing the 1/10th and 1/15oz zman finnesse ned head with the regular zmans 2.75 and 2.5 inch zman baits.
I love these for river and creek fishing; even small lakes that are predominantly rock. I do wish you would design a specific trailer system for these. I have been cobbling together trailers for a year now and can't seem to find exactly what I want. Something like a super chunk style, or even a realistic craw like the old Madman Mooneyham craws. I have two-ish packs of the old zoom mini chunks but they are not exactly right, either. Thank you for developing these little dandies!
Funny John we have known each other a long time. I just uploaded a video about micro jigs in winter a week ago. Like minds think the same when helping bass fisherman catch fish.
Hey JC good stuff...Like it when I see Spinning combo setups...Since I use Spinning combos 90% of the time. Question pre spawn and Spawn coming up...What size and color would be the go to for that time of the year?
My jigs are really lite. You may grow a full beard by the time they get to the bottom, but they usually get bit before then.6lb test is the max.You cant cast them on anything heavier than that.
@@JohnCrews It was funny, I posted this comment and then checked their website the next day and they had it changed over. That micro jig rod has the most interesting blank I've ever felt. Its like a L for the first 6 inches and turns into a MH by the midpoint. Very sweet design. Good job. Thanks.
I stumbled across this pattern a few weeks ago. Wanted to throw a jig and knew the water temps dictated a smaller size. Accidentally has a really good day on the water haha! Do you twitch it on the fall at all?
medium heavy for a micro finesse jig?! no way! talk about bending hooks! medium or medium light 10# braid 6 or 8 # floro leader is the heaviest u wanna go!

Guess I’ve been ahead of the curve. Been making and throwing them since the 80’s 😎. Then using JDM ones
Love the micro jog for the smallmouth rivers here in TN.

Bitsy bug

Your drop shot craw is BY FAR the best hair jig trailer... and it’s not even close!

Great video Jon, always very informative. Good luck this year man
Best music for some bass fishing! Keep leaning!
It works very well at Table Rock as well. Thanks John

Crews I have some really good micro jigs. The best thing is that I tie them myself.

Question pre spawn and Spawn coming up...What size and color would be the go to for that time of the year?
Prespawn is some red or orange on the trailer or in the skirt but during spawn, I don't think there is a big color that excels.
what's another good trailer for the micro jig since you no longer make the drop craw?
My jigs are really lite. You may grow a full beard by the time they get to the bottom, but they usually get bit before then.6lb test is the max.You cant cast them on anything heavier than that.
😂
Haha yoy are correct about growing a full beard waiting for the bottom. I have a full beard and approve this message.
Depends if it braid or not. Max 10lbs braid. Braid sinks, fluro suspends, mono floats.
Imagine a missile micro swimjig
Bfs is a shad better then spin casting the micro jigs. Been using straight 10 lbs stealth braid by spiderwire
When is that Icon version of your micro jig rod gonna be out?
It is out now. Thanks!

I'm sure I'm late to the party, but where do I get that hoodie?!?!?
strikerbrands.com/collections/logo-wear/products/usa-hoody
I make my own little mini how are you want them and I do get b on them and I used a different shop swimbaits
I stumbled across this pattern a few weeks ago. Wanted to throw a jig and knew the water temps dictated a smaller size. Accidentally has a really good day on the water haha!
Do you twitch it on the fall at all?
Can you use straight 20 pound braid or 10 pound mono
Is that micro jig rod too heavy for Ned? I need a rod for shaky head/ned/and micro jigs? And even small Swimbaits... Versatile for Co angling
what size hooks do these have in them?
#1 on the micro and 1/0 on the micro football
@@JohnCrews I used to fish a small jig growing up in E TN that was a lot like your micro jig. Used a 101 pork frog on them back then.
u think 6 pound line is to small for that?
It is okay for no weed guard. You need at least 8 to get through the weed guard.
Dude, I need one of them suckers
medium heavy for a micro finesse jig?! no way! talk about bending hooks! medium or medium light 10# braid 6 or 8 # floro leader is the heaviest u wanna go!
12 lbs ??? i'm using 6lbs floro. I thought micro ment fitness.
Sunline Xplasma is a braid. 12lb has the diameter of like 3 lb monofilament (don’t quote me it’s a rough estimate)
6 is okay with no weed guard. The skirt provides the action regardless of line size within reason.
