Nice review. I already pre-ordered the Spark 2, because of the Looper and because you store 8 presets instead of just 4 on the Spark 40. Thank you for posting this.
I'm sure they'll add support for foot control on the Spark 2 looper. Maybe incorporate it into the Spark foot controller, or make an addon. PG seems pretty good at making regular updates and everyone on earth is going to complain about having to use buttons on the device to control the looper.
I hope they offer a 2 or 3 button version. Loopers with a single pedal are agonizing to use. Having one button for record functions and one for play/stop reduces the amount of remembering how to work the thing.
Allegedly, the “reserved port” (the jack input on the right) will take an external footswitch after a relevant future firmware update. From the website: “Expansion Port: Features a 1/4" input for future external footswitch or analog input connections, currently inactive.” I don't have the looper yet, so I can't take it apart to see if it's a TRS jack. If it is a TRS/stereo, then it will allow 2 extra buttons (3 total). If TS/mono, then 1 extra button (2 total).
There is a very distracting low frequency hum running throughout this video, and it's there in all the shot locations in the edit. Not sure what its origin is....
Double tap to stop effectively makes a looper unusable. Using a looper in time is the single most challenging part of the technology. Single tapping in time takes a lot of practice. Confidently hitting a double tap in time is next to impossible. Never buy a looper with any sort of double tap feature. The extra cost for a two switch looper that removes the need for the dreaded double tap is essential for anyone wishing to actually play in time.
agreed, but my only counter-point is that there isn't much choice for good (affordable) looper pedals for the Spark or THR and I think anyone who would need something more complicated wouldn't be buying either of these practice amps, they'd likely have something better.

What I don't like about the looper is that when use it with the spark 40 the Bluetooth audio has to be turned off

I solve this by never using loopers.
