6:03 Just checked the manual, cause I was interested: You can select between 3 reverb modes by a startup sequence. 1) room (default) 2) hall 3) plate. The one you choose can be adjusted by the ambiance knob. So clever, BOSS. 😊

This looks like another homerun from BOSS. I agree with the dude in the pink shirt; I don't care if it matches any particular amp perfectly. It sounds good overall and I'm confident I could get several good sounds out of it that suit my playing.

That's kinda how I feel about my Boss GT1000. For a couple years I was just using it as a pedalboard with my Mesa Mark V, then I borrowed a FRFR from my niece who was using it with her electric drumkit.
I was impressed enough that I sold my Mesa and other amps. It's not 100% there, but it's 90% there if I'm willing to take the time to tweak things for each guitar/patch.

just bought 3 MXR Fet Driver pedals in one week, secondhandmint 120e/pedal: abs fab Jazz pedal for strat, and blew away 2 pedals( for nice bass..),
DISCONTINUED, hence I acted quickly, like my Mad Prof Simble(3 of)
those 2 are my keepers 4ever, funnily i think they were first made about the same time 2012....and GREET PEDALS!!
funny how the technology moves on , not much discussion how much it buries older thingies on its parade, soon therell be no analog sounds to model after, and after is the very right term!
      Gramophone > LP > CD > DIGIDIGItally re?Masterd?.....
as a teen I tried to play Dire straits, with atape recorder... ( better but no visual, to see his fingerstyling, ha ha!!!,
and the 1980s commercial music tone with Floyd Rose/Baywatch...!!!!!!! as a floyd guitar sounds metallic with both metal nut and metal bridge, add chorus...........................
I think Ive seen or heard a floydroseguitarist talk about guitarwood affecting his tone: for me ears if you JAM a Floyd Rose nut with 2 bbolts thru the neck, and the heavymetal bridge in the other end, the fine fibers of a vintage Fender wood might be quivering/relapsing/nicely responding??? respectFULLY aging?, as I, 58 years NOW...
      Kimmo ..., Cheers from Finland!!!!
P.S. digi or not: better sound analog!!!! better...!!!!and it doesnt end there even for me: I play with Solid state amps! Imagine that! actually the MXR Fet Driver pedal has a slight reputation being partial to ss amps!! HA HA!
The tone of a guitar developes and envelopes in our BRAINS: our brains are dynamic, butt up to a point: it truly might be a 40 year old tubemanguitarists brain cant really handle this modelling thingy BUSINESS, Im Lucky at 58 with no tinnitus( I think i do have a slight at times...),
well: I like my digital modeller ZOOM G2: it has Fender Twin ( with no amp modelling not a world, but my ears do like it:
I have 7 ZOOM G2s, you can still get them for a50 bucks or so! I guess thats my Fender Twin 65( with those 10 valves, whatwhat?
my ZOOM G2 cost 100€ brannew at one time, this BOSS 200€? looks cheap pricewise, and I already heard its TWIN version is baad, so maybe Im good, maybe I am...
Cheers Twistedlefty, Kimmo ,Finland, birth town... the Universe : )

I had a TC Ampworks DeLuxe for about 3 weeks... nice reverb but harsh.... sold it, had Zoom G6 for a year.. Good IR loader and not bad.... sold. I'll go with Boss IR-2. I regularly do sessions and live gigs with a Tech 21 Blonde, I like it because it is 100% analog. Have considered a 'Simplifier' or UA but will give the Boss a go. The clean sounded good and the Twin slightly overdriven sounded not too bad. I'll not use it for live although keen to hear it with a FRFR cab.

Pedal-sized amp / IR boxes have changed the game for me. We keep them in a drawer in the mixer to use for practises without hauling amps so we can jam completely in-ears with consistent sounds that we don't ever have to tweak. Then we take actual amps to gigs (at this point, just to move air and for aesthetics and we can run at tiny stage volume, re-enforcing the sound through FOH with a blend of pedal amps and live amp sounds. So much flexibility for the sake of a few pedals and a daisy chain 🤙

Great clean tones and decent distortion live here. After that, I have no less than FIVE modellers. Three of them are DigiTech units -- an RP350, an RP355 and a BP355 for bass guitar. I also have a Zoom G9.2tt Guitar Effects Console -- that's what they actually called it. This one is a hybrid, too, with TWO tubes. The "tt" in the name stands for "twin tube." All these were bought used. Last, and the only unit bought new, is the Donner Arena 2000. I personally sold all my tube amps, pedals and cabs and replaced them with modelers, amp sims, IRs.. just digital stuff. In my living room where I play guitar I just connect it to my active studio monitors which I also use on my TV. Would I like to have a wall of amps and cabs and 30 pedals? Of course. Do i miss fiddling with all the knobs? Hell yeah. Do I have much more money to buy more guitars I don't need? Yes, oh yes I do. Do I have much more space in my living room? No, because my new couch is gigantic. And most important: If I make 5 recordings with similar style of amps/cabs, one tube amp and real cab and 4 sims/IRs can anyone tell which recording is the real tube amp if played back? Normally the answer would be no, but probably the most shitty sound would be the amateurish miked up cab while you can't make much mistakes with a DAW.

Also, the tone is so CHEWY! It sounds exactly like how it would feel to out 5 chewy chips ahoy cookies and 17 gummy bears in your mouth at once…………..not that I’ve ever done that……….

I got one when they came out (I was working at a guitar shop at the time) and I still use it direct into the PA for rehearsal and as my backup for my gigging setup in case something goes down. My first pedal when I started playing guitar at 14 years old with my Harmony Strat copy was actually a Pro Co.Rat ( Damn thing still sounds awesome all on its own with just a hint of BOSS DD3 Delay to this day ! )
I bought my first BOSS pedal ( a Hyper Metal HM3 ) in about 1988 I think and I have at least 10 different various Boss pedals now and a couple of MXR’s ( EVH Phase 90 and a Super Comp compressor) and a Dunlop Cry Baby From Hell -Dimebag signature Wha pedal. My favourite pedal is the BOSS MT2 Metal Zone! 🤘🏻🎸and the DD3 Digital Delay. I’ve got a 2 Marshall’s , Peavy, Fender and an Orange amp already so as far as replacing those … that’s not what I myself would buy this pedal for ( but many others very well might want it just for that reason alone) as I truly just love real amps and cabinets! Over anything else amps and modellers wise that’s come out in the last few years. I do understand why some guys like using them versus lugging around a Marshall stack etc. but this pedal would be cool just to take and use over at your buddies place or when you’re travelling and want to practice in the headphones 🎧 in a hotel or something like that. I’ve got a number of other tiny amps and plug in things but something tells me that this will just sound way better than any of that other stuff as it’s just built way better and by a trusted company whose products always kick ass! 🎸🤘🏻 even after 38 years of playing BOSS is definitely my favourite brand of pedals. I still definitely prefer the individual pedals as I just never liked the multi effects board style set ups as it’s just too much fiddling around with multiple banks of sounds I’ll never end up using for my liking! I do also like the MXR stuff a lot as well. I would also like to try out some of the more bizarre ones that Electro Harmonics puts out just for fun.
🤔Honorary Mention that I want to try out is the Ocean Machine Delay- Devon Townsend signature pedal. The demos Devon did with that sound insane 😮 and I’d love to take it for a test drive. 😄

17:50 When Pete's running the LP through the High Gain amp mod and rolls off the volume. and the pedal CLEANS UP!!! not perfect Fender-ly clean, but clean enough. that sealed the deal for me. Stereo Effect Loop, load your own IR's , Record Direct from the pedal to your laptop DAW or cellphone, (the Freedman IR-X can't record direct to your DAW, I checked), monitor through the headphone jack, the remote switching allows you to add two amps to any existing pedal switcher like the ES-5 or any effects loop switching system that has a channel switch output. and it can run off a battery in a pinch.

That would show which pedals are better off with a DI box before the desk, which ones suffer from the fletcher munsen curve so we have guidance on how to dial in sounds for gigging level, which ones take your pedals best and which keep it most simple etc.

    @philbrannigan5854 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Astounding. The great thing about it is that everything you need to change at a gig is can all be controlled by the knobs on top. I do quite a lot of different types of gigs, but rarely do I need more than a few types of sound at any one gig. I'm finding anything that has programmable presets gets frustrating because the sounds I program in at home are rarely perfect for the gig, and if I have to get my phone out to fix things up it's too cumbersome. When the last gig was hard rock, and the next one is country, life becomes annoyingly complicated. But with this, I can get to the gig, dial in the two channels, maybe a drive pedal in front and a delay in the loop, and I'm ready to go. The Boss site says that the Ambience can be Room, Hall or Plate, so I assume you have to configure one using a PC/Mac and live with that if you don't want a separate reverb pedal. But the good thing is that you can dial the reverb up or down with a physical knob, so if the sound guy's asking you to back the reverb off because the room's a bit live already, you can just back it off with the Ambience knob. No phone or laptop required.

This will be a boss hall of fame top seller, for sure. I felt the same as Lee when looking at the pedal... It feels similar to stuff already there, but honestly more mature. Feels like what blackstar wants to do with its amp sims, but done right. Trim the unnecessary stuff, push for high quality in whats in there, get the usability right, no hidden menus, no 10h fixing patches on a separate editor on your fone, pc... no submenus, no internal toggle switches, no convoluted 3 modes of operation that you press three times, left right, left right b a b a to unlock an amp... It is just a damn good and damn affordable amp/cab sim, with things that every guitar player will actually use.... and the quality for the price? Damn...
I dont know, feels like there is gonna be a before/after this product... I had the quad cortex, played kempers, been using neural amp modeler on the pc... I still have the IR pedal loaded to my board... but this Boss Pedal, I feel that this is the one that actually covers what I need for when I need, without trying to tackle everything, without asking me to spend hours learning a pedal, without taking real state from my board... and damn... Internal Loop, which means it is spliting preamp x post, simulating the gain structure inside the pedal... for 200, all of that with the models actually sounding better than a lot of captures?... Damn.
