    I practice my driver more than any other club. It allows me to have a shorter iron to the green and I am usually 100% in the fairway on all my drives. As a 65 yr old female senior, driving 200+ yds off the white tee, your videos have helped me immensely. Practice pays off! IF something isn't working...stop, and do something else. Don't keep repeating what isn't working. Your videos help me understand that the driver and irons are 2 different swings or timing. thanks for all you do.

    6:55 tried out your guidance and was shocked as to how far I was melting my drives. Haven't hit my drives like that since my twenties (69 now). I think I used to time my release earlier then. It's only since looking at you tube teachers who all banged on about lag and casting that messed up my drives. You are a breath of fresh air and common sense. Thank you.

      I have to second this comment. Yesterday I really tried releasing way behind the ball with driver and I was hitting drives I’ve never seen before. My main struggle is having a consistent setup. Gonna take time, but this single swing thought is the missing piece. Hit way behind the ball is my thought. (Driver)

I am nursing a Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal in my left foot, still wearing a boot, (5 months) and just went to the range to try your technique. Wow! Another great video Marcus, I have spent most of my golfing life (along with many others I think) trying to perfect a golf swing to hit a draw, but as they say -Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Most humans and that very much includes me are very unwilling to step out of your comfort zone. My experience with golf teaching is that it is always the traditional view taught that you have to swing along the target line, your guide to better golf breaks this belief. I am now trying to swing across the target line from inside to out. It is mind over matter with me but when I get it right there is no better feeling that hitting a draw. I've watched about 80% of your videos and implementing important points which is why I think you repeat them in your videos. After 4 times hitting balls at the driving range, I get a little better every time. My irons and hyrbid is working great. The driver is working but like you said, it will take some practice to get the timing down. I use to follow an online instructor who also advocates using the right hand with flexion and extension which has been very effective, but what set you apart for me was your stressing the importance of unloading the angles early and actively using the right wrist instead of being passive with it. I get much more compression, ball speed and better ball striking on a shallow angle, similar to hitting a nail with a hammer. I also like how you stressed using an in to out swing. This has helped me hit it straighter without hitting pulls to the left. Thanks again, and I look forward to getting better for spring golf. I wish you were here in the USA so I can take a lesson from you. Best regards.

    I wonder at some stage in the future could you clarify what not to do with the wrists and what to do when releasing the club. The in-to-out idea is very clear now so thank you very much BUT what about the wrists and how do they hinge correctly as you swing through the ball at impact. There is the cocking motion (radial deviation, ulnar deviation) which I think is correct but there’s also flexion/extension which I think might be incorrect?
    Steve Elkington used to teach 45 degrees to the right path, Mike Austin the same. A lot of the old wisdom in golf gets lost in the glossy magazines and new trends

    At the top, I aim at the ball perpendicular, and I think everything, knee, hands, etc towards the ball in that manner, and throw the club. Feels extreme but never fails me, as long as I allow my self to be aggressive enough with the release. Used to have over the top/pull problems, but never with this thinking. But I do need to prepare my mind with the mental image of doing this before. And that I do before I step up on the tee box. Seing the shot. Don't want to have too many thoughts when it's time to throw the hell of that driver :D

Absolutely spot on about very strong grip and standing shut, actually i think the latter makes one aim right, and then you either block big time, or use excessive hand action and risk a duck hook. All amauters struggling should follow you, instead of trying to copy positions like most teachers teach, using tour pros as model

    sounds like Dalton Mcary do not delay the release. When you say release are you talking about pushing with the right arm or throwing with the wrist. The way I see it is that the right arm elbow drives the ball and the right wrist over taking the left is either up for driver or down for irons. But I am probably wrong. I am not rolling the wrist more of a mike austin slab so head does not really rotate by wrist more body and arms in the arc. That is as long as I keep the big right shoulder out of it in the beginning which is of course a slice or super pull

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sound like you are getting things together and it works. The release for me is the trail hand passing the lead hand. The faster it happens the faster clubhead speed we will get. It starts with the trail arm extending and ends with the lead arm folding.

    • @iamcarshopping2400
      @iamcarshopping2400 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GolfwithMarcusEdblad wow never thought of it that way. A light just came on. I always thought of release as either wrist or arm push but to view it from start of arm push to collapse of lead (left for me) arm is something to ponder. Would avoid quitting on the shot and a bunch of other bad things. Like my big right shoulder. Note I like that you do not really do swing mechanics. You focus in a simple way the thoughts of were you want the golf club. I never played hockey but in baseball you swing at the ball you don't have mechanical thoughts just think of putting the bat on the ball. You are applying that to golf in a terrific way.

    My opinion, where it gets dicey, is stance setup, are you Square, are you Closed to hitting 15 to 20 degrees Left if you are a left-handed golfer or the same degrees if you are right-handed, it's the Stance that really squirrels the mind than we start changing the stance than the Army golf starts, Left, Right, Right Left...the release 3 feet before the ball this is where the sternum comes in, now your focus is 3' behind than we miss the ball or a worm burner trying to get the clubface of the Driver back to the ball.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Always one thing at a time. To do this you need a square or slightly open stance. A closed stance will block your trail side from pushing forward.

    I am trying to follow your instruction on swinging inside to outside and feeling as though it is 45 degrees. In order to "feel" a swing path this extreme I need to start my takeaway drastically inside. Is this your intent to feel very inside for my takeaway? I also am having a problem with your description of allowing your trail hand to pass your lead hand leading for impact. Is this exaggerated on time 8:47 of this video? I enjoy our videos but I am having problems interpreting some of your descriptions. An overhead vew looking down along your spine angle may alleviate some confusion.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  ปีที่แล้ว

      The take away does not have to be exaggerated to the inside but the out feeling through the ball should.
      When I do this my path through the ball is only 8-10 degrees going out. Seeing it doesn't help, we need to separate what we try to do with is much from what we do, with is a little. Rotation will make it impossible to get too much out on the way through the ball.

From this setup, I draw the ball occasionally. But it is not a high draw and even using longer tees, I am unable to release the power the same way you advocate. You also advocate a square to slightly open club face at address but I don't get the same power I do with the closed clubface. Do you think I should stay with the closed face and continue to work on the inside-out action? My problem is almost every shot with every club I hit goes to the left (a hook) I can only keep the ball in play by turning my body to the right. What am I doing wrong?

      Hi Mac. There is probably some rolling of the wrist going on. Watch this: th-cam.com/video/wi3xyG-OQNQ/w-d-xo.html

    Love your 2 rules: 1) swing as much from the inside, and 2) release as early as possible - th-cam.com/video/BmrZxIFGgis/w-d-xo.html

    Inside to out, You're actually are not trying to hit it on that line. If I do with a straight elbow it actually goes that way. However with a slightly bent elbow it goes straighter. Amazing I feel so much more confident for the first time in my golfing life of 20 years. Thank you for really breaking the glass of others bad lessons for truly special golf essentials.

      Thank you. I need to tell my body to exaggerate a lot to get what I want to happen when I hit a ball. 👍

      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad your methods work the best I've tried. However, I issue that still remains. Transferring my practice range time of great success to the golf course in live play. Do you have a video for that?

      @@mabblers If you make it hard on the range by changing clubs all the time and hitting balls like you play the golf course it will work. Always focus on doing the best first shot you can with every club. 👍

      @@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Thanks I'll try that. I've been practicing one club for ten times for good shot if not then repeat then change.

    Timing kills my driver a slice 240-260yds terrible hands always in front of club head

      Sadly that's normal. Exaggerate the early release until the slice is gone then work on the path. 👍
