The largest walleye I ever caught (10.5 lbs) was a similar situation. I was fishing out of my canoe in the Boundary Waters off the Sawbill Trail on opening weekend. I hooked a little hammer handle northern about 14-15 inches long. It was right on the gunnels and I was about to hoist it into the canoe when a big walleye grabbed it sideways in its mouth. It would not let go and I fought it for a few moments and then landed it without a net. I had to pry its mouth open to get it to let go of that northern. That was decades ago, but I will never forget it.

Choose a route and go. Highlights of my life were made there. I lived in Idaho for 26 years and WA State now, but my heart is always in the BWCA.
I think this video would have gotten millions more views with different music and some different editing... Not trying to be mean. Just that the content of this video is amazing, and it deserved more views.

I was fishing on the Chippewa Flowage in northern WI back in the late 60's when I hooked what turned out to be a 6.5 lb., 26 inch walleye with a chunk of it's tail freshly bitten off. Speculation in the boat at the time was that a muskie took umbrage at the trashing and took a bite out of the walleye's tail. Your video provides evidence that, like the honey badger, "musky don't give a s**t."

This happened to my dad once at a lake in Michigan he was fishing for large mouth when he got a bite he set the hook began reeling and he got it up to the boat and there was a tiger muskie with the bass my dad caught in his mouth
I used a pair of needle nose pliers to get my zaraspook back and let one swim off with my smallie a few years ago. I had a water snake and bluegill episode once too. Birds, reptiles and fish all take risk they normally don't take when they get hungry
That’s what I’ve been doing wrong. I’ve been beating the water to a froth with MEPPS lures and swimbaits when I shoulda been rigging a 16” smallie on a 5/0 hook and a beachball bobber.

That's pretty interesting. I have been trying to catch a pike in a local lake that has them by using small bluegill on hooks with a bobber. It's legal where I live. So far only some nice largemouth catches. I'm certain now that its only a matter of putting in the time and effort. Thanks for the video.

here in Canada most of the good musky lakes or rivers practically always have walleye in them :)

I've caught a pike on a sucker that wasn't hooked and I flipped the pike in and somehow the sucker didn't come off the hook
