But did you release the trophy buck though? And can you see where the monster pike actually is? Because that pike has a choice between all the other bait fish or that fish on your line so your point is invalid.
When I was a young man I was fishing behind a power house in a small village in Michigan. I was using a beetle spin and kept casting it back and forth. Then I got snagged or so I thought. I know right, at least make it a challenge by using some artificial tackle. No challenge at all throwing a trout on a hook in the middle of an overly stocked trout pond and waiting for the bobber to go down. Now getting that pike to take a streamer on fly would be respectable.
Years ago I was at my grand father's brothers house he lived very close the the portage lake lift bridge in Hancock Michigan, we were out on an old wooden dock probably 100 years old. Some of the boards were missing, I was looking down in the water between the missing boards, I saw a pike or musky that was well over 5 ft. Scientists predict the pike weighed anything between 70-90lbs. google it guys
That's like raising Whitetail deer in a fence end area andfeeding him nothing but high nutrient food and when he grows a monster antlers and then you kill him and say it's a world record Whitetail deer.
Someone had to have put the pike in there when it was small, since there are no inlets. They planned for the pike to remain captive in the enclosed pond and feast on the trout which had been stocked there. They then proceeded to monitor the pike as it grew. Definitions: 'Farm'-"land or water devoted to the raising of animals, fish, plants, etc." 'Farmed(v.tr.)'-"To *cultivate, breed, or raise (plants or animals)." 'Wild'-(of an animal): "Living in nature without human control or care : not tame." While this fish might technically be 'farmed,' it sure doesn't seem to take away from the guys joy of pulling in this monster- and isn't that what fishing is all about?
well, most freshwater fish can travel to new waters by hitching a ride on ducks feet and so.. as eggs avoiding to get pike or perch in a water system is harder then getting some in on purpose although, you are right that it has some exlent feeding grounds there
Just my opinion but Id rather catch a river 20lber on a lure than a reservoir/lake 40lber on a live/deadbait. Be better if the catch was actually on camera. Nice fish though.
I think this should not considered anywhere mere a record for two reasons first it's a privately owned lake or "pond" that is only seven acres and it sounds like there is only one northern pike in it. So they stock it with trout to feed the only northern pike and let it grow to that size. Even if it breaks the weight record for the country or world it should never be allowed in the record books.
I remember Terry fondly from his time owning Burton Mere trout and carp fishery on the Wirral. He sold it and it’s now a nature reserve. I wonder what he’s up to now.
I’ve been raising one in my pond for 20 years . Feed him pellets daily and he’s no natural predators. I figure I’ll catch him again next year and the year after until he beats the state record. Then sInwill blubber after I consider the money I spent on him instead of real fishing trips.
is it right way to try get the biggest pike when your float a deadbait beside a trout pen knowning she be around he get more pleasure if he was pike fishing out if a big lake r river. still big pike say lot bigger out there.
The biggest pike caught that I've ever seen was from the Kankakee river in 1968. It was big enough to swallow a child. Unofficial weight was 86 lbs. Caught by Roy Johnson during a neighborhood picnic at Aroma Park. It was frighteningly massive, caught between the damn and bridge. The same area everyone swam. Provided a boom of business for the local bait and tackle shop.
@@2inHeartattack We fish here not far from the Illinois State line south of US41 big northern, big walleye becoming more common .If you ever get a chance watch a documentary called Everglades of the North, history of the Kankakee.
It`s not fake and it is a beautiful fish but.. I don`t think Pike caught in a man made stocked lake should count as a record. Look at the amount of trout in the lake. Its like McDonalds for Pike. Not trying to take anything away from the catch though.
LOL, They killed him. Haven't you seen all the blood? And a pike would start fighting as soon as he feels the water and he was almost motionless. And how come we don't see him going away??? The truth is that he died. They didn't handle him properly and kept him out of the water for way too long.
Not necessarily true. We caught a 39 pound trout ice fishing last year, had it out of the water for a total of 35 seconds and it took a while for it to regain energy. A fish that big doesn’t necessarily just up and go as soon as they’re back in the water.
@@ryansheppard5048 Look, I'm Canadian and have been fishing pikes since my early days. I don't know everything about fishing because there's always something to learn. Now, you clearly stated *ice fishing*. Have you ever heard about "thermal shock"? You took a living creature from 4 degrees Celsius (40F), to minus ten (14F) if not way less. How would YOU feel if you were the pike? That pike in the video most certainly died (99%). As simple as that.
Im Canadian as well, and when you’re dealing with old, big fish they take a while to get their “legs” back. They’ll usually stay in one spot to regain themselves. A 30 pound fish, especially after a long, hard fight won’t just instantly jolt away when put back in the water. 5 pound, young pike? Sure.
Hell Ive went to trout ponds and caught records, but for everyday fishing you will be waiting another 50 years to catch a fish that breaks records ,this is cheating.

None the less well done on your big pike 👍
I’m from the states.... that is a nice fish .... is that considered very rare to catch one that size over there??... I’m not bustn balls honestly... that is a nice fat fish 👍👍... just wondering how big the pike get where you are...
Percy vere, you need how to use a camera and use the net at the same time, although nice shot of the rear of the boat...
Amazing looking fish! Enormous! I’m very happy for the old man! 👍🏼
A stocked private pond . Shouldnt qualify for a world record
Seems like shooting fish in a barrel.
Unfair no kind of a sportsman
I agree with all the comments
not a world record anyway. the NY State record is over 46 lbs.
No one said it was a world record you donkey...the record in the UK is 46lb 12oz.
50 YRS WAITING FOR THAT AND STILL A VIRGIN
Congrats ! Thx to river monsters catching big fish has never been more fun to watch. I have jackfish at my cabin, turtle lake saskatchewan, and I'm never going back in the water. 😎👍
What is the name of this lake?
Just an advert for the lakes!! not impressed!
imo an advert for not to go there.
The Largest Pike caught in British Water was 46lb 13oz from Llandegfedd Resevoir In Pontypool South Wales back in the1992 and it is still the British record. By Roy Lewis.
Again a stocked trout water ! Windermere / lomond /Awe proper wild pike waters
@@stephenpounder4704 Iv taken a 24 lb monster from Loch Awe, biggest from Lomond is around 15lb. However the record would have been smashed with the pike that was in Lomond. Long time ago a pike was found dead on Loch Lomond (River Endrick mouth) the head of the pike is still kept in a museum in Glasgow. Scientists predict the pike weighed anything between 70-90lbs. google it guys
John gobles specimen on the thurne a stunning fish
That's like raising Whitetail deer in a fence end area andfeeding him nothing but high nutrient food and when he grows a monster antlers and then you kill him and say it's a world record Whitetail deer.
Judge Executioner don't forget controlled genetics
Exactly!!!
Judge Executioner LOL!!! No shit!! " A once in a lifetime catch" yeah right!!! This could be a once a day catch! These bloke are pathetic!
Gob shites prob take turns catching it the fish has more cop on
Yeah but u use your eyes to spot the deer. With fishing u have to use your brains n out think the fish. Your status couldn't be any further off
How many kg?
Did he release it. It was out of the water for awhile
WILD REALY I'm off to Tesco to catch the tea
These guys really know how to handle a fish, clearly. Surprised they didn't hire a photographer for a photoshoot.
Dude, it's a STOCKED POND. It's practically hand-fed. Congrats for catching a tame fish.
Anabolic steroids))
So where was the release?
Great job! Is this Scotland? Congrats from Michigan!
Someone had to have put the pike in there when it was small, since there are no inlets. They planned for the pike to remain captive in the enclosed pond and feast on the trout which had been stocked there. They then proceeded to monitor the pike as it grew.
Definitions:
'Farm'-"land or water devoted to the raising of animals, fish, plants, etc."
'Farmed(v.tr.)'-"To *cultivate, breed, or raise (plants or animals)."
'Wild'-(of an animal): "Living in nature without human control or care : not tame."
While this fish might technically be 'farmed,' it sure doesn't seem to take away from the guys joy of pulling in this monster- and isn't that what fishing is all about?
+Justin Cokit or could it just be a bird as many birds carry fish eggs from other lakes under their wings
well, most freshwater fish can travel to new waters by hitching a ride on ducks feet and so.. as eggs
avoiding to get pike or perch in a water system is harder then getting some in on purpose
although, you are right that it has some exlent feeding grounds there
Just my opinion but Id rather catch a river 20lber on a lure than a reservoir/lake 40lber on a live/deadbait. Be better if the catch was actually on camera.
Nice fish though.
Wonder if it was the same one that got away the day before.

2011
Good catch never mind all the negative remarks there just jealous key board warriors
First of all what's up with the. Lake. Is it a lagoon off of a huge body of water? Seems awfully small.
I’m confused about the trout box?? Why were there trout in a cage again? Is it called a lake bait pile?
why did they not film playing and landing the fish? Just, hey presto, here's a comatose fish.
Matthew Day aa
Its winter time theyre pretty sedate then, especially when it's being hand fed trout to put weight on.
Handling older fish for long periods of time out of water increases the chance for mortality ten fold
Do you have scientific data to back up your bogus statement ?
I saw this, and lost the will to live......
I did notice that you didn't set the hook. Is there a reason for that?
I remember Terry fondly from his time owning Burton Mere trout and carp fishery on the Wirral. He sold it and it’s now a nature reserve. I wonder what he’s up to now.
Had I known the circumstances I wouldn't of watched...
What for
@@frumentarii6542 the guy is basically fishing in a big aquarium and thinks it's a big accomplishment. It's not.
@@tbauer2521 so its like a private pond wtf man me too
@@tbauer2521 u wouldnt catch it u jealous prick
Well, maybe the man didn't think your circumstances were relevant to him catching the biggest fish of his life.
Do you eat soy food?
I’ve been raising one in my pond for 20 years . Feed him pellets daily and he’s no natural predators. I figure I’ll catch him again next year and the year after until he beats the state record. Then sInwill blubber after I consider the money I spent on him instead of real fishing trips.
You talk about a fish of a lifetime, yet this fish was hooked three times in what, a week or two?
Not very impressive.
Why was Terry bleeding at the end ?
Very nice! Ever play rugby? Seem like a front rower to me
Here in finland those big pikes are swimming around the beaches! ;)
Hehhe
Tådde mäita man i Närpes å me bambumäitspö som boån!
that's fishing in a big fish tank
Excelent size i almost feel for it though its always being (specialized) caught.
Hi
is it right way to try get the biggest pike when your float a deadbait beside a trout pen knowning she be around he get more pleasure if he was pike fishing out if a big lake r river. still big pike say lot bigger out there.
Didn’t catch it “on film” and did they even leave the dock? Am I missing something here?
The biggest pike caught that I've ever seen was from the Kankakee river in 1968. It was big enough to swallow a child. Unofficial weight was 86 lbs. Caught by Roy Johnson during a neighborhood picnic at Aroma Park.
It was frighteningly massive, caught between the damn and bridge. The same area everyone swam. Provided a boom of business for the local bait and tackle shop.
Lololol
Starting to see some big northern come out of the Kankakee here in Indiana again,so here's hoping.
Was that in Indiana? I've always heard of the legends. I fish & hunt that river myself
@@josephbryant6758 a buddy had one spin him around in a kayak just outside of Mill Creek on the Kankakee
Nicely done, no pompous talking 'Me, I or mine', very well done sir I salute you. You are a fisherman of note.
The Renumeratorguitar
He's a phony
Is this in england ?
Fantastic pike,I wonder if it’s still kicking about
Nice camera work
Very, very few pike anglers in the UK would ever kill a fish of this calibre.
It is great to see it returned alive.
Sure.
@@ryansheppard5048 You just proved that you're what we call a "Sunday fisherman" and not a fishing guide... Thanks, and end of discussion.
Hell Ive went to trout ponds and caught records, but for everyday fishing you will be waiting another 50 years to catch a fish that breaks records ,this is cheating.
The part where we got a chance to watch the shadows land the fish was pretty good 😂. Fish of a lifetime and a day that will possibly never be beaten in his angling life, well done sir
All you critics, in case you haven't heard what the man's said, he stared that he waited like 50 years to catch such big pike, world record or not, it's HIS RECORD!
