I just bought a 4300 with 5130 hours on it, non running needing some injection pump work. Pump is getting rebuilt at a local shop. Previous owner spent $6000 to have front axle seals done last year, will be adding one of those vented caps from otis, thanks for mentioning them!

@@TractorTimewithTim Thanks Tim for the tip! No pressure built up, but I found the issue. The bearing failed and some metal fragments from the bearing race must have damaged the seal. I flushed out the fine metal particles in the gear oil, replaced the bearing, oil seal and sleeve, hopefully it's good to go as I have a lot of soil to move!

Installed an Otis Innovations vent kit today on my 1025R. Was actually surprised that there was a small amount of pressure in the axle when taking the dipstick out. Of course I used TTWT when ordering.

Can’t wait to hear what my local dealer says the next time I take my tractor in for my every other year maintenance. Yeah I know, I can do the maintenance myself but I don’t have the desire to mess with diesel oil anymore. Plus I have a couple of medical issues that just makes it uncomfortable to do all those things I used to like doing. My dealer will come and get my tractor and deliver it back to me the next day and they’re only about 8 miles from my house. They even pressure wash the tractor before returning it.

I bought my LS tractor in Florida and it being flat which is about opposite of Missouri i noticed at an angle the oil was coming out the vent. I have yet to check the oil and probably it may be low. I think all the little tractors have the same problem. The best way to fix the socket is put it in a lathe and cut it back evenly.

Proper tools make all the difference in the world. Red loctite when the part can handle the heat to remove it. It takes 500 degrees for Loctite brand red to loosen up. Also consider what is near that part. Blue with the activator will hold almost anything you need it to until service time. There are two blues, one is oil resistant.

Hey Tim, Greg Ritter SeaTac Washington if you remember correctly told you quite a while ago I’ve got a 4300 and I’ve only got 500 miles on it and I’ve been using it quite a little bit. I fold a couple oil tanks out of the ground big ones 300 gallon or bigger course they weren’t full, butmines been running real well I haven’t done any fluid replacement in the front axle whatsoever. I probably should check them now that you’ve brought it up. I think I will.

The only way you could be the part that was small and held a 50 and a 60 amp fuse was to buy the entire wiring harness for $2150. The fuse hold broke when I had to replace the 60 amp fuse which require force to take out. Tim, while Yanmar built those tractors, they were built to John Deere specs. What Yanmar did-purchased US axles that were spec or built the axle to those specs would have to be answered by someone in the design/supply chain at that time. One thing we do know, they were well built tractors as there are still lots of them being used.

Tim, off topic for this video but another channel revealed their JD farm tractor hood material fracturing all up (they spent $7k on a replacement hood) I wondered if you could go through your vast fleet of JD and alternative tractors to show all the hoods and materials in them. I thought JDs were fiberglass with inserts but it looks like this other channel's hood is all injection molded with poorly aging brittle plastic everywhere. Is that 'industry standard' now or just JD?
