Curtis from the CEE Engineering channel in Australia would be shaking his head. Of course he would rebuild the entire trailer just because the toolbox lid was loose. But farmer welding gets the job done. The only thing better would have been to use a 40 year old stick welder. Now that's farmer welding! 😁
Good morning Tim and Dave. I'm not an expert by any means but I think that I would have tried either turning down the wire speed or raise the heat. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂
might i suggest like i did my trailer for not a lot of money , On top of the lid add a solar charger , it will mean less destroyed batteries ( always discharged ) , and it will mean less inrush current when you connect with the Anderson plug. 😃
If you are keeping the trailer for a long time, I would have used 5 small bolts to mount the hinge to the box. It will be easier to replace by grinding off a few bolt heads than all those welds. Those piano hinges have a bad habit of locking up tight when exposed to the weather.
Think Your Buddy is getting You confused with Paul and Kathy short a local you tube channel to me here in Newfoundland Canada. They like the color orange. but they Make some "mods" that make that color tractor great and even some universal ones for other colors that may or may not be better than orange. better as well. Both Good People like You and Christy.
Tim, an infinite hinge would cost you "infinitely" more money. What you need is a "continuous" hinge. Hopefully, you won't be paying "continuously" for that! LOL
Well, I'm not a welder either but the main goal is always "glue it on" - hot metal glue gun. If it stays it nmight be good enough for a home weld. Where you made my day is : Your Video is - for what reason ever - available in german language (my native language). I don't know how it was translated but it's kinda funny. Tim for example unexpectedly switches between male and female voice (already around sec 50) and even speed of speach is changing 😳 ... If this is state of the art AI as of now translating I don't think there is a risk of Skynet or something like that in the near future 😜 I guess I stick with the "original" for the future. One point for the hinge : Why welding and not rivets or screws ? If it fails again rivets or screws would be way more easy to remove ... Before painting I would recommend a based layer of zinc paint, so it is better protected. (Yea, I know ... Advice after it has been done is always the "best") Stainless Steel with rust anyway if it get's in touch with "regular" steel. Assuming the box itself is "ordinary" steel and using stainless steel welded to it -> it will rust away, I think even faster if it would be only steel to steel. Even the welding wire needs to fit for stainless steel otherwise - you already got it - it will rust away. So to weld a stainless steel parts you need the right welding wire, matching to the type of steel you have. After welding you need to clean the weld itself (acid+electric current) to activate the anti rust protection. In other words : got for ordinary steel an paint, anything else makes no sense at all.
This probably doesn't need to be said but make sure the pets can't see the welding. They will watch and burn their eyes. If you've ever done that it makes for a long night. If ya hadn't done that just pack your eyes full of sand, it's about the same.

You say the work quality is C grade and the pay is D- pay, the fun factor is definitely A+. Enjoyed the video. Great lid joke at the end 😆
On this episode of ‘Fun With Tim and Dave’ calamity strikes - fun and success prevail! Blessings.
Great job Tim and Dave. You guys have a lot of fun working together and it makes for a very entertaining and enjoyable video. Thanks
Fluid Film now and then will help slow the rust down.
I love my Artillian front frame for moving trailers.
I bet Christy gets a raise after this video.
Great video!
I’ve always called them piano hinges, Tim! lol
That seems about right. Hey, you had fun and that is a good day.
Was wondering when I would get something from my favorite channel! I needed some Tractor Tim experience today!
Today is a good day 🇺🇸
I side with Dave black and yellow all the way
Smear some axle grease on the inner side of the hinge (while the lid is open), this should keep it lubed and attract the least dust
Nicely done…. I always kerhinge when working with long span-wide hinges. Harder done than said for sure. 👍
Its crazy how much they charge for the rifht hinges for then is nuts
Fluid Film on that hinge once a year or so and it'll last forever
Put some fluid film on the hinge

I was waiting as for what my luck would have been pull the trigger on the welder and the power goes out again. It's a job well done.
orange is the best and rules
Rainy day project!! Should be Alot better. I'm putting in a pond overflow today since I like the mud!!
Nice video enjoyed it.

My first try at this failed. The battery discharged with the solar kit added. Removed the solar kit, and now it holds charge
Dave, Milwaukee is best.
What size trailer would you recommend for hauling a 1025 with a loader? Ramps vs tilt deck?
look at our ‘truck and trailer Tuesday’ playlist.
The old tilt, yet low profile trailer! A true icon of the TTWT early days. It shall be better than ever before!
FLUID FILM I THINK IS A BETTER LUBE FOR THAT APPLICATION
It’s always a would uh should uh could uh moment lol
Now, all you need is a strut to control opening and closing
It has one. We put it back on after the video.

Hmmm. I need to do the Same thing..
I'm not using a full length hinge, No need for such a light weight lid.
Couldn’t you dig the generator out just in time for the power to come back on?

Are they still making videos?
Yes
Should’ve covered battery Did you ever see one blow up hydrogen gases.
12 volt batteries exploding is a thing. I have had two batteries explode in my life. No injuries either time, but it was pretty scary nonetheless.

Your welding job worked. However, I probably would have drilled and riveted it.
You sure used up all your excuses on audio and video. She will always remind you of this. Hahaha.
Mine rotted off in same spot.
Tim it never was your chair...
Should’ve removed the battery before welding because battery gas explods
