    D'angelico sent me their new Deluxe Brighton model awhile back and Im finally ready to show it off and discuss its features, what do you think about this guitar? I think it plays great and sound very clear and punchy, but is it my style?

    Update - I'm about 7-8 months into owning mine. I've got about 25 guitars, including Gibsons, MIA Fenders, Core PRS, and my Brighton is right alongside my favorites. It's a phenomenal guitar plain and simple. The Seth lovers? Well, there's been enough said about them. They're among the all-time best productiom pickups ever made.
    Agreed on the slippery nature of the knobs, but it's not generally common that one splits coils mid-song. OTOH, something I like, and I think is common, is to split the neck pickup before the tune, and leave the bridge pickup in HB mode for solos. It's not unlike the way people use any HSS guitar.
    Lastly, it's just plain fun to play!

    • @Papiboii
      @Papiboii ปีที่แล้ว

      I played one in a music store and that one’s headstock really liked the floor. I love the design of this guitar, but the neckdive was a dealbreaker for me.

      what do people mean by "neck dive" i understand english but this i don't get

    • @Papiboii
      @Papiboii ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dariohenriquez7773 It means the body of the guitar is to light or the neck and headstock are to heavy. The neck of the guitar will dive towards the floor while playing with a strap due to bad weigtbalance.

    I just got a Premier Atlantic; buttery neck, pickups sparkle like dirty diamonds, but what I'm really impressed with is the way the notes sustain and chime with natural harmonics. The setup and intonation are spot on. I feel like I need to dress up to play it. Very chic.

    I've owned one of these that I bought used for a couple of years now. It's the natural swamp ash version with SD '59s, a pau ferro fretboard and gold hardware. The construction quality of these Korean-made instruments is phenomenal, and I love the Art Deco vibe of them. They also come with a high quality HSC. I think the one shown here is the best looking of the new color/feature updates.
    The Seth Lover pickups are rated 7.4K neck and 8.3K bridge according to Seymour Duncan. For the sake of clarity, I use the coil splits almost exclusively. The only issue I've had is the width of the neck because of my smallish (but not tiny) hands. Finally, these aren't cheap, but in this case you are getting what you pay for and then some.

    From Leo: I love the over the top bling that d"Angelico brings to the market. I bought an SS model. The fit and finish is flawless and it plays "like butter". The pickups have a great voice for a clean player. A solid body d'Angelico is on my near future list, leaning toward the Atlantic. You are right about the knobs, a groove milled around the knob would be a nice touch for the push/pull functions. (gibson company could make that mod to their push/pull controls also) .

    D'Angelico hit the right spots for me, i love the vintage look with modern feel design. I normally prefer Seymour duncan's. I would assume the body being that thin and the headstock that big it might dive a bit, but i can live with that, specially because it doesn't cost as much as other similar models.

    I think they are amazing guitars. There's something about that headstock that I can't get over though (call me shallow, don't care) but the insect mandible is a good analogy. I love D’angelico acoustics I haven’t really played any of their solid bodies. I am however geeking out over that guitar. This creates an issue for me as I had narrowed down my next purchase to either a Gibson SG standard or. Fender jazzmaster but now I ha e to place this one in the running as well. I also have to say that I get a kick out of your presentation style I have a bad habit of sitting down for a serious practice session and instead just layering effect upon effect to get the oddest coolest tone possible. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one.
    But back to the guitar I really dig it.

    As for you wanting to know how we liked that review...it was a bit different than what you've done in the past, but in a good way. I see you also have a new "baked in' disclamer now...I hope that puts THAT issue to rest lol ! I also really liked you playing more "songs" than just riffs, allows us to better appreciate your talent as a musician and the piece of gear you're reviewing. Great video, thanks ! In my opinion, these pickups are Seymour Duncan’s, but not Seth Lovers. They can call them what they want to, but this is not Seth’s original design. I have the Premier version of this guitar. I gutted the electronics & replaced with CTS & Switch craft. I added bone nut & real Seth Lover pickups. No coil split, but these pickups are very versatile & you control the tone with the volume & tone pots. Seth Lovers are the best pickups I’ve ever owned & have had them in several guitars. Hey, it’s the original Humbucker!
    I bought the Premier on sale at MF, replaced parts stated above. I have $825 in the guitar, which is about
    Half the cost.

    Sweetwater is blowing out the bursts (I think just lemon left) for $500 off. I just ordered one for $1199! Insane!
    Note - I just got a Les Paul Special, which has the chunky neck. Amazingly, I have zero issues with it and I have smallish hands. I've also got Gibson 60s slim, and EBMMs whose necks are the smallest I own (also my overall favorite), so I say this that it's possible to like both chunky and smaller necks.

    I don't care for the headstock, including the tuner heads shape and the truss rod cover. I also don't care for the "curlique" pickguard. Nonetheless, I love the guitar and was disappointed that it's more than I can justify spending right now. BUT, I accidently discovered the "Premier" series, which is a version of this guitar that is in a price range I can justify. My only regret is that the Premier verision doesn't come in that gold color. Mine is black, which still looks pretty good! I'll have it in a few days. Can't wait!

      I got my black/white pearloid Premier Brighton yesterday and so far, I'm enjoying the way it plays. My wife saw it for the first time today and after about five seconds of staring at it, she said "It's ugly". LOL I have to admit, it's way more flashy than I like and a simple black pickguard would go a long way to taming the flamboyance. I'm stuck with the headstock and plan to replace the tuners, and even though I don't like the look of the tuning heads, they are far easier to grab and turn than traditional heads, so I guess I'll stick with that style when I upgrade to lockers.

I have to say though I'm not a fan of the pickguard, rather see this model without that pickguard for a more clean look. I think Prince would have loved this guitar as is, but it's too ornate for me, I am a Fender guy, I prefer simplicity.

I could not gel with that guitar, mostly did not like the pickups at all and overall it had a cheap feel to it. I currently own a Bedford SH premier series I bought used. I love it now for a cheap used guitar.

    I hope you right-handers realize how lucky you are. You never have to worry about 1) Is it available for me? 2) If it is available can I get it in anything other than black?

    I think you should loan me that guitar for a few months so I can evaluate it properly and let you know how I truly feel about it

    Not my style and I typically go for fun, unique colors and styles. It seems a bit busy and I'm a huge fan of Art Deco.

      I knew it had to be a bit spendy because that guitar has every feature plus Seth Lover's. A lot less than a Les Paul though.

    Fantastic looking guitar if you put a brown bag over the headstock. I really want to like them but I cant get over the headstock. I also really wish the necks of the ones I played had gloss necks
