Hi Darrell. Have you got my reply about the future guitar give away for overseas? This is the best guitar ever. Great job man! Anyone can buy that........but me a few years time.
I’ve got a 335 style Dangelico In black. It competes with my fender American pro 2 as my favorite guitar! The quality is definitely on par with fender and Gibson. I plans to get another dangelico soon.
Let's be honest. They have one pretty geniune guitar design, and the others are semi/hollow body guitars that clone popular models such as gibson es 175/339.
@@lowkeyd34d63 I dunno man they have a lot of unique guitars outside of those hollowbodys. Edit: looks like they have discontinued a lot of body styles.
What I love about it is how it isn't copying any other guitar out there, but it's also not your typical shredding guitar that you often see from companies who make their own guitar designs. And with all of this, it doesn't look ugly either! What they did is make something unique that almost looks like something Fender would make but better, and that's how you know it's good. And on top of it being gorgeous, it sounds phenomenal
Exactly! I also want alternative designs for non-shredding non-humbucker pickup guitars.. Most companies just copy existing designs under the name of "vintage" or "traditional"
I have a brighton and its looks fool you. Its shred capacity is through the roof thanks to the 14" radius and that heel joint giving you all access. They make killer instruments.
@@drewg.4487 Not bad for a really high-end boutique guitar. As soon as I noticed the multi-ply binding on the neck I realized we were looking at something special.
OMG... I was getting those 80's vibes from that delicious crunch at the beginning. That mini HB!? Stays crunchy even in milk! D'Angelico makes cool and funky guitars. Nice...Real nice.
I remember wandering into their former location in Red Bank, NJ some years back. It was a colorful experience. The "caretaker" of the shop didn't so much try to sell my cousin and I a guitar. More of a history lesson where D'Angelico guitars were art pieces over musical instruments. I believe they had a few old school D'Angelico guitars behind glass, but the rest of their stock was all the modern import fare. They were absolutely well crafted import guitars. That store has long since disappeared, but I'm glad to see the brand is experiencing a resurgence through more creative takes on vintage looks.
I have recently been trying to re-stock my collection of tones. One of my wish list items was "something with mini-humbuckers". My very first electric was a 1966 Epiphone Wilshire with minis, and I just loved it. Well, I was in Guitar Center, and they had a few of the new 2022 model of the D'Angelico Premier Bedford SH. Made in Indonesia (I see that one was made in Korea), the mini has a different cover, slightly Rickenbacker or Gretsch-like. It also has a tremolo system. A super-versatile guitar with super-simple controls and great sounds. I absolutely love it. The quality of parts and workmanship is very good, neck is wonderful. Mine is Fiesta Red, and her name is Angie. I'm very happy to have her in my tone arsenal. There's songs in there!
Darryl you can make a cricket bat strung with fencing wire sing! But I must say, what a fantastic instrument! Thanks again for you tireless work for us.
I see a love Child between two lovely families. The lipstick pu''s from my all time fave - the Telecaster. With the Les Paul'ish mini humbucker it has a touch og a classic yet futuristic Gibson/early Epiphone. Incredible look with the bit of assymetric body - a touch from an early Quest (Matsumoko) Well, I'm so overwhelmed, that I just can't find the words.....I'm from Denmark (66 y.o.), and Darrell......I think you just presented me for my last guitar. Great review
That guitar has the best tones that I've heard in a long time. And the body is a breath of fresh air as it does not copy the same old strat, tele, and Les Paul bodystyles that every guitar company produces. However, like all 3 + 3 tuning gear headstocks,....you can clearly hear it go out of tune just like a Gibson SG. For a Korean-made instrument, I was very impressed with the quality control for this guitar.
That guitar rocks harder than it has any right to... Sounds great through the Marshall. I like the quirky look, too.... and 14" radius in that style of guitar? Unusual. I'd gig with it, for sure.
If I didn't know better, I'd swear this guitar was the vintage inspiration for the PRS Vela (or Mira, I don't remember which has the more pronounced offset). D'angelico is really doing some cool stuff!
It looks like the PRS Vela. But the Vela doesn't have single coils and only has neck and bridge pickups. The other difference is the PRS is a solid body while this is a semi hollow.
I bought a D'Angelico Bob Weir signature guitar based on Darrell's review. It's an amazing guitar and I love it. Now I'm tempted again. This guitar looks and sounds amazing.
I have a Michael Kelly 1955 custom collection that has a rear humbucker and a neck mini-bucker with both splittable and a 3-way switch. I often get lost playing with all the controls instead of practicing with it.
@@dabsafe How are the Godin necks? I really like their S style take and I have a hard time finding Fender necks comfortable so I’m considering going Godin
I bought it through Musician's Friend. Very well made guitar as Darrell is describing. Fit and finish was great. Playability great. The Deluxe at $1500 wasn't for me. The single coil were nice but not special. The mini didn't sound near as good as what's being played here. Darrell either has magic fingers or a better sound system (or both). I sent it back because of the pickups. I couldn't justify new pickups for a guitar that was $1500.00. I called D Angelico to see if I could do something in the setup to improve the bridge tone. I was told the 'tone' is unique and isn't for everyone. They were right, because the tone wasn't for me in the bridge. To my surprise and delight I played the Bedford "PREMIER" semi hollow at Guitar Center. The cost is $799.00. Maybe the price helped the tone? ;-). It sounded equal or better. The single coils were more shimmy and had a really good percussive tone when played together. I bought it! Pickups sounded fine and 'for that price new pickups down the road, isn't a problem. Bottom line is check out the premier before paying extra for the deluxe.
I have the Premier also. The pickups are the same design, but made in Korea. I actually like them better also. It seems like for the Deluxe, you're paying for the Duncan name, along with the three piece neck, locking tuners, split block inlays, and different colors.
