  • In this episode we set up at Long Plain Hut Campground and go exploring over Long Plain - in the northern region of Kosciuszko National Park. I love the wildness of the high country; open plains, crystal clear rivers, wild Bumbys, heritage properties and the incredibly beautiful Clarke Gorge. We hope you join us in this episode to see why we loved it so much.

    Many thanks for another awesome video! You might want to consider (foldable) hiking poles - a great support for the up- / downhills and slippery water crossings.

      Thx for that sound advice Sven - we actually have walking poles- we have a habit of forgetting them though 😅👍

    Is the walk to the gorge kid friendly? Great video, thanks

      Hi Daniel. Depends a bit on the age of the child. We did every water crossing holding onto each other for balance. It wasn’t too deep but a bit of flow and slippery. We did the whole walk in our surf booties. I’ve seen little kids on harder walks but the parents were determined to get there kids through and helped them heaps. Maybe you could give it a go and turn back if it’s too hard🤔
      The parts of the path where we were clambering over rocks were probably the hardest bits 👍

    Hey guys , love your videos what type of water pump do you use there

    • @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730
      @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Ray, glad you enjoyed the video. The pump is a Ryobi 18v transfer pump. Works well direct from a water source into the van, however, if you want to also connect an inline filter, this will create too much pressure and turn the pump off. Kerry says you can put in a bleed tap to reduce that pressure in the hose and that should solve it 👍

    Wow! I'm glad I found this video. Clarke gorge looks a lot harder than I expected, with the path right on the edge and some of those technical moments across boulders. I'm rethinking my plan to take my young kids out there.

      Oh no - sorry to hear. If you had two adults going - and they are adventurous kids - you could maybe assist them with the water crossings and some scrambling 🤔

      Tricky with a camera on a stick instead of using a stick to steady yourself. We have been into all the caves and swum in the pool where the drone swam... camped down the end of Caves Ck at the junction with the Goodradigbee R. We used to camp at the Blue Water Hole. Lovely spot... in 1960s..

      I have a nice iTECHWORLD inverter that looks like yours… Also a very handy iTECHWORLD JS80 jumpstarter which doubles as a power pack for cameras and drones when on a walk away from the car.

    Hello team, I know that drones are prohibited in National Parks and you need permission to fly - was it a hard process to get approval for the drone flight?

    • @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730
      @travelthecountry-aussieadv1730  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dion, the rules around drone usage have tightened up a ton in the last couple of years. It wasn’t an issue when I took this. My experience In getting permits hasn’t really been an issue though, just more an inconvenience and you have to plan more. 🤙

      Hi Placepics - we were wearing surf booties - but any kind of reef shoe would be suitable. I like the bootie because I get better grip & balance being able to feel the ground with my foot 🤙
