I think most of the countries have almost similar cases. For example in Japan🇯🇵 after 5 years of postdoc you will consider as "Research Associates or Research Assistant Professor ( your visa will show "Professor") and here in Korea 🇰🇷 almost all senior Post-doc fellow consider as "Research Assistant Professor" (visa category is "Professor"). It means officially they all are "Assistant Professor" but not like our country in IITs or University where they have their own Research team and have to take classes for UG and PG students. In academics or Industry, It's hard to tell the position only based on the name.. It's not harmonized. each and every institute and industry have their own name and ladder we should discuss before joining.
Sir, is it worth doing a Ph.D. and then going for industry jobs? or is it better to do M.S.C and go for industry jobs? If a person is interested in getting a Green Card and wants to live permanently in the USA. Which one is better?
Not necessarily in all fields bro. May be in your field like that. Even postdoc is not necessary for Ass prof jobs, you can get it after PhD. If your PhD is in USA getting teaching faculty and research position is easy. I think you came to USA as a postdoc. If your PhD is in USA your scenario will be different.
Thanks for the critical information. I have couple of question, why not are you trying to comeback India and work like NITs and IITs or others national importance laboratories?
Because one doesn't get paid in $$$$ at the end of the day, these poor assembly post docs/RA save some money compared to what they will be paid in India. Also they usually have pending green card applications they deperately want. Its just modern day slavery, probably 90% of these postdocs come from developing countries like India, china etc, say like a modern version of labour class in middle east.
@@Crispercas9 Just to let you know that this PHD problem is not only in USA, it same everywhere in world and even worse in India... If you are in Science and Research you should read some nature article on PhD/postdoc related crisis..
