That Jack McCoy is so hard core, he could prosecute Jason Vorhes and Freddy Cruger for their murders and get a good night sleep without any nightmares

      I love your thinking!
I'd also like to see Jack McCoy versus Hannibal Lecter.
(I was also going to mention Patrick Bateman, but a few Bateman-like defendants have already turned up on the show.)

"Oh, Harrigan did it because he's a Mick. Det. Logan's a Mick. I'm a Mick, sir and if you don't shut up, I'll lose control and throw you out of the room!" - Jack McCoy

Anyone else think that if that defense attorney had continued to mouth off to McCoy after that (while he was leaving), that Jack would have hauled off and decked him, consequences be *damned*? Because this is one of the rare few times in L&O where we actually see McCoy *lose his temper* with someone; he's always been direct and forceful, but it is a rare case when he legitimately gets well and truly *angry* with someone (enough to raise his voice, like he does here, anyway).

#1 thing you DO NOT DO is disobey Jack McCoy.
#2 thing is threaten/ backtalk him.

Dan Hedaya--what a guy! He's been around for over 40 years! I so remember him as Nick Tortelli--Carla's (Rhea Perlman) husband who was ALWAYS a screw-up. He's 75 y/o and STILL doing movies, TV, and Broadway. I love the smooching sounds he makes at McCoy! He and Sam Waterston probably broke up laughing after that scene!

I think he could not have said it any better when he said "I'm just trying to find an honest man..."--or something like that. In any case, Sam Waterston/Jack McCoy FTW!!!

This episode was half of a 2-parter crossover with Homicide: Life on the Street, where the characters went to each other's cities (Baltimore) . Lenny and Munch (Richard Belzer) were great together.

It was so satisfying to see this sleazy lawyer get slapped down by a judge in a later scene.

I do NOT back Jack McCoy ALL the time, but I am 100% with Jack in this scene. Drake was a royal douchefuck.
Take a bite out of his neck, McCoy!! :-D

@TheMilwaukee or James Doohan ("Scotty!) whoever you are,
Nice language?! WHY didn't you "back" McCoy all the time? Did your 30 years as a County of New York assistant district attorney give you some insight that the rest of us didn't have? Of course we will never know as you don't give your name or picture. Where did you get your law degree again? I got mine at William and Mary and I always thought that McCoy was spot on. But then I am not an original character on the 1960s Star Trek either!

Helen Eschenbacher If you are a professional lawyer, then TH-cam is not the place for you to be wasting your time discussing your practice. Seriously: Law & Order is just TV entertainment, and TH-cam is a chaotic, public forum. Please don't waste your time on strangers.
(I also don't see what Scotty or Star Trek has to do with Jack McCoy or the practice of law, so your introducing him into your argument clouds the issue.)

By getting in the way of the investigation, he smart enough to realise his clients are acting suspicious, but he’s batting a blind eye to it because otherwise he doesn’t get his pay check.

    • @hayksayadyan8339
      @hayksayadyan8339 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@homeworld1765 I agree - being a "hard ass" has nothing to do with it. McCoy often acts high-handed, holier-than-thou and contemptuous, whereas Stone was far more measured and calm (even if cunning). Two rather contrastingly different American Irish personalities.

The real criminals would have really loved this loony bin handing out reward money left and right for bogus leads that gets handed down to the police department wasting their time. This would be a crime open season and field day all over the place lol.
