Richard Wagner is my favourite composer and Lorin Maazel's arrangement and performance of this adaptation of this masterpiece is beyond words. The Berliner Philharmoniker has proven yet again what a world leading orchestra it is. Bravo.
Wagner, the master of the masters knew how to bring Schopenhauer's philosophy into music and make it visual - just absolutely sublime and magnificent. Of course, to deliver a superb performance, nothing like American conductor Lorin Maazel, one of the greatest conductors of the XX Century. He was to Wagner like conductor Valery Gergiev is to Prokofiev. So proud of my Western culture and civilization and this gift for all the world to enjoy.
