I kinda-sorta did this yesterday. At the touchless tunnel wash (it's cold here), I sprayed All Clean on the wheels, then I sprayed Incredible Suds all over the vehicle and wheels to dwell before I entered the wash. It really helped get it clean as the tunnel wash here says they use mild soaps. Impressive cleaning from both products. Only downside is the spray bottle that had Incredible Suds in it spilled on the way home and now the car smells like grape until I can properly clean the carpets lol

My current routine is to do a contact wash every 2 months (2 bucket wash, or rinseless), and a quick maintenance touchless wash every week (pre-soak foam, rinse, blow dry). It's not perfect but does 95% of the job with about 50% of the effort.

I took your advice and tried 8 oz of All Clean & 1 oz of Incredible Suds on my g/f's car as a pre-wash before taking it through the touch-free wash. I tried this process and it did not work as well as a contact wash.
After the iron remover step, I ended up using Rinseless wash sprayed directly to the dirty areas and then used a sponge to loosen the road grind/dirt and then use my pressure washer as I went along to clean off my sponge since I did not have any buckets handy.
The good thing is that I now know I can pressure wash my car and not have to pull out a bucket and my clothes stayed dry!

The touchless method simply doesn't get a genuinely dirty car as clean as a touch wash (you admit this in another thread here).....BUT.... that's using "typical" water pressure.
I'd like the following questions answered:
    a) What pressure would be required to achieve the same result as a contact wash?
    b) At this pressure, is the amount of wash marring more, same, or less, than a contact wash?
I know there are many variables

    • @diydetailofficial

Hi there, Water Spot Remover is on the acidic side of the ph scale, whereas All Clean is more alkaline. Yes this would be a great way to prep your vehicle for a ceramic coating -- with the caveat being that you would want to do all of this *plus* contact wash. I wouldn't want to cut any corners at all when prepping for a coating, so that includes wash, Iron Remover/decon towel, and Water Spot Remover which you would then rinse off the paint. If you're coating the car, I would also prefer to polish and then apply panel prep before coating. But as we showed in this video, we applied Quick Beads at the end so it was protected -- so for basic wash, decon and protection? This method can absolutely be used. Any further questions, please feel free to reach out to Yvan directly (yvan@diydetail.com) -- I know you asked for him to answer directly. This is Nick btw. Have a great day!

Bit off topic, but I've been using a paint cleaner cream (by hand, with a MF towel) for thorough decon, and i was sceptical about even TOUCH decon using APC & iron remover fluids etc being as effective. I've just tried an experiment though - i used an APC, followed by an iron & fallout remover, just gently agitating with MF towels. I then rinsed, and finally tried rubbing a lower section with the paint cleaner, that I know would have given up some brown grime - but my cloth was totally clean. 🕺 (I did a neighbouring panel just a few days ago just with the paint cleaner - it was dirty).
Unfortunately though i don't have easy access to a hose. BOY OH BOY is it a lot of work to rinse the iron remover off with a spray bottle!! It takes many many passes and many cloths. (I'm using the Gtechniq product at the the moment)

For a wax this is definitely not going to do anything to make it last. A good Ceramic Coating will take it in stride and come out the other side happy.

@DIY Detail do you not agree Ober time harsh chemicals can degrade a ceramic coating or things like quick beads etc. I put a strong apc on a coating it will knock it down more than just water. There are some chemicals than can strip older coatings and paint prep etc is that not true?
