The "5X" IC is a RT6575DGQW (RT6575D QFN-20 IC Chip) DC/DC Step Down Controller - if you have an issue sourcing, I have a spare here in the UK I can send to you
@Bishtuku The thermal camera he is using is the FLIR E60. It is a discontinued model
Teamwork! 👍
You are not just good with what you do do. You are also humble. You admitted you don't know what the component is and people with the knowledge about it were eager to give you the info. This is how keep on learning. Respect Boss.
Your videos never get old, something new every time.
Recently I perform microsoldring in a flex cable 3mm flex having 15 wires I sold it perfectly without microscope because my hands are perfectly still but I didn't have solder mask I solder one side other side get desolded only by touching iron on another side for fraction of sec.
It finally gets interesting. I'm looking forward to part 2.
Love watching how you work and find problems... Keep up master😊
I am glad you found the issue. 😁😁😁 other shops here were trying to junk the whole motherboard. I try not to be wasteful. I knew you would find it.
Hey,it is richtek RT6575C/D. What you have here is probably shorted kbc multicontroler which is powered from that 3.3v ldo line.Very typical case,so before removing that regulator, inject 3.3v into ldo line and watch for heating spots on board, kbc the most.Good luck
5X = RT6575DGQW 👍
5Y = RT6575CGQW 👎
@@hightttech both compatible for this board
@@hightttech how did you find out what IC was on the board? The markings were "5X = 5N M1N" so you don't have to rewatch
a nice idea and not wasting the time but sorry i am new in repair and do not know what is the ldo
@@sarockpashotan it means low dropout
Great trouble shooting techniques. Always like seeing you work thru the problem. 😁

Interesting.. now i know where to go for repairs.. im just few blocks away from your shop lol i live in Northridge
Not 100% sure but i would guess its a -RT8249A/B/C - Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller
with 5V/3.3V LDOs. but check the datasheet and pinouts as it comes in a few packages.
NO. "RT8249A/B/C" would be marked "2Q=" or "2P=" or "2N=" ... chip in video is "5x="
You are awesome and I wish you lived NY, you would put all of these techs to shame! Great channel and enjoy the holidays. Best regards to you and yours!
Isnt Rossman in NY?
@@kristianjozef3198 he is currently going to be putting his.long rants to good use melting the new york city.snow.
It is beautiful about your advanced insight ! thanks a lot..
Just got my order in from your shop and can't wait to get started practicing micro soldering. I appreciate all that you do!
wow that thermal looks awesome. Great quality.
From what I see it is a synchronous dc/dc step down converter providing 3.3v and 5v . The only supplier i found was a couple of eBay listings so you may need to find donor boards to find this ic.
Can you do a walk through of the tools on your workbench. Would love to see what you use.
He may be quite busy and he cannot afford waste time to come with walktthrough bench area setup.🙄
Great 👌
I'm waiting for next video
Love your vids man keep the content coming
RT6575A/B is a dual-channel step-down controller
that ic 5x its step down controler providing 3.3v and 5v..its a richtek ic 5x= RT6575DGQW

How van we figure it out ? Is there any website that can help ?
Well done
It is up en down mosfet driver it give the gate the voltage to open .it is used in many laptops from the same generation, ik u have damaged motheroboard u can find one. Thank you very mutch for all your very goed videos i learn mutch ,
love seeing your vids.. learn new stuff every time
I am having a battle with HP Omen laptop. Looks like the Richtek L8 on it has similar problems as the device wont start and just blinks shortly while pushing the power button.
I am looking forward for Part II.
Hello Dear NorthridgeFix, I was watching for some iPhone repair, and got along with other of your videos! YOU ROCK!!! I'm addicted to your videos now:D Best regards from tiny country of Slovenia -> Where your ex 1st lady was born
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Nice try👍👍👍
Hi Alex Steve from belgium you can use tps51225c for your ic. It is the equivalent for 5X =RT6575DGQW
Super hard work thkyou sir

Hi , Great video, What thermal camera is it that you use?
what setting is used to test for capacitor shorts? The diode check?
Open the jumper PJ304 and see if the short circuit disappears. It could be the EC is dead and not the StepDown.
IC
@@christozed EC=Embedded Controller. It gets its power through the jumper from StepDown. If the EC is shorted, the StepDown IC goes hot.
@@SiETechNotebookReparatur
IC for step down voltage for cpu, ram, I/O blah blah
@@christozed i do not understand. This IC on this video is a StepDown Controller IC. It makes the 3,3Volt and 5Volt. 3,3Volt goes to EC (Embedded Controller, Super I/O, starter IC whatewer) it is also an IC (Integrated Circuit).
@@SiETechNotebookReparatur maybe not the IC.
The problem is that it can't release the voltage out.
3 leg is the "feedback" for 3.3volt
Watching here from Doha Qatar😊😊
Sir me need thermal plz tell me how much and how buy in India ❤️ very useful your all videos 👍❤️❤️🙏
Thank you👍
Nice video sir it's DC to dc regular IC.
A very stupid question for sure for all the experienced people we all have been there, but which lead he has when testing the capacitors? Negative or positive? If negative where is he touching the positive? Because all i know it's capacitors are read in Faraday. Thanks a lot for your help.
Which thermal cam that you are using can you mention brand and model
i bet that its the 3v and 5v power supply buck converter ic
Hey , can you post what thermal camera and microscope your are using in your shop?
Always a crowd pleaser when you whip out the thermal camera! Its so cool
If you give the motherboard number i will try to get the schematic, thats if the 3.3 v dc ic buck controller, but somethimes if not the ic, i suggest to remove the coil and see whats line have the short, im think is pl301.
Hi, Thanks for the great videos you make! Got one question that i hope you can answer for me. What temperature do you use on the soldering iron? Thanks alot :)
700 C is the right temperature..
I have an asus 403n motherboard with a pwm controller that has similar marks, except mine says 2N=3L E3U.
According to boardview its name is "PWM CONTROLLER RT8249CGQW
RICHTEK WQFN-20L"
Close. But "RT8249A/B/C" would be marked "2Q=" or "2P=" or "2N=" ... chip in video is "5x="
thermal camera very rarely used by repair shop in my country because of the price, some using what they call MBR (high current 5-10A) to find fault component
Would you please share the Thermal camera model no./specification sir?
good sir 👍👍👍👍
Thanku ❤️👍👍👍❤️❤️🙏❤️
sir didn't you use flir MSX feature?
Nice job, you found the problem very fast. Thats the way it should go. Such a thermal-cam is like a helping hand.👍
what tester are u using?
Anakartın şemasından PU301 numaralı componentin şemasını bulabilirsiniz. IC yi değiştirince sorun çözülecektir.

I'm an electronic student, which thermal camera do you suggest to start ??

Great job, you are the best. Selam from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Hello sir,
do you clean motherboard desktop and laptop use water ?
Isopropyl alcohol
ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ವಿಡಿಯೋ ❤️😍✋👌 amazing and beautiful video ❤️🌹🙏
When he is testing the components after using the thermal camera, does he leave the board plugged into power? and testing in diode mode?
Thanks
If the cap was the problem.. which is the value for that component ? Regards Alex italy.
How did you test the last capacitor? Please explain.
I've found the manifacturer. Search for Richtek 5X. According to documenr that I've found, 5X is Product Code and 5FM1N is Date Code. You can find that file by searching DS8249-ABC.pdf and look for Marking Information on second page.
And also found RT6575D which is 5X but I don't know if it is suitable for that motherboard
Close, but "RT8249A/B/C" would be marked "2Q=" or "2P=" or "2N=" ... chip in video is "5x="
@@BirhanDursun: datasheet indicates same chip 👍

He sells them on his website. Lots of them.
can we detect any shorts with thermalcam? as a learner will it be easier for me?
It's a Single Synchronous Buck Controller.

@@NorthridgeFix wow....now that is dedication to your craft. Not many shops would/could spring for a $1-4K piece of test equipment. Although, the better the tools (and knowledge how to use it), the better the repair.
This is IS Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller
with 5V/3.3V LDOs
Hurt your brain by thinking 😂
Can I know what microscopic cam are you using
northridgefix.com/product/microscope-camera-bundle-1080-60fps-180x-lens-ring-adapter-2-barlow-lenses-0-5x-0-75x/
👍👍👍👍👍
I think this is Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller
You should spend more time on it,remove that 3.3/5 volts voltage regulator ic and Check for short again on that cap to find if the short comes from ic or 3.3 volt rail (or 5 volt rail).of course if there is a short under 3.3 volts rail Power suply (that 5×=6f ic)has to be hot.
a nice method!!!
thats very very useful thanks man.
What if the component you are replacing is not the main cause of the fault, but a side effect?
That Chip is Dual Channel DC/DC, Synchronous Controller...
I think that ic is corrosion your opinion sir
it a
ISL62386 Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller ...
Go through schematic of the board u will find the chip no. There 👍
Can I know the Board model number?
If we have to find it, we need more info about MB 😉
Thankfully my HP laptop powers on and works but the only issue is the battery that is draining fast.
ritchtek rt8249A/B/C The IC under consideration

Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller
How do you test capacitors with only 1 probe?! 🤔
The other prob is on ground
Just pin down the other probe to GND so its easier and you just need to use one probe.
