    The "5X" IC is a RT6575DGQW (RT6575D QFN-20 IC Chip) DC/DC Step Down Controller - if you have an issue sourcing, I have a spare here in the UK I can send to you

    Your videos never get old, something new every time.
    Recently I perform microsoldring in a flex cable 3mm flex having 15 wires I sold it perfectly without microscope because my hands are perfectly still but I didn't have solder mask I solder one side other side get desolded only by touching iron on another side for fraction of sec.

    Hey,it is richtek RT6575C/D. What you have here is probably shorted kbc multicontroler which is powered from that 3.3v ldo line.Very typical case,so before removing that regulator,inject 3.3v into ldo line and watch for heating spots on board,kbc the most.Good luck

    A very stupid question for sure for all the experienced people we all have been there, but which lead he has when testing the capacitors? Negative or positive? If negative where is he touching the positive? Because all i know it's capacitors are read in Faraday. Thanks a lot for your help.

    From what I see it is a synchronous dc/dc step down converter providing 3.3v and 5v . The only supplier i found was a couple of eBay listings so you may need to find donor boards to find this ic.

    Not 100% sure but i would guess its a -RT8249A/B/C - Dual-Channel Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Controller
    with 5V/3.3V LDOs. but check the datasheet and pinouts as it comes in a few packages.

      NO. "RT8249A/B/C" would be marked "2Q=" or "2P=" or "2N=" ... chip in video is "5x="

    Open the jumper PJ304 and see if the short circuit disappears. It could be the EC is dead and not the StepDown.

      @@christozed EC=Embedded Controller. It gets its power through the jumper from StepDown. If the EC is shorted, the StepDown IC goes hot.

      ​@@christozed i do not understand. This IC on this video is a StepDown Controller IC. It makes the 3,3Volt and 5Volt. 3,3Volt goes to EC (Embedded Controller, Super I/O, starter IC whatewer) it is also an IC (Integrated Circuit).

      The problem is that it can't release the voltage out.
      3 leg is the "feedback" for 3.3volt

    I am having a battle with HP Omen laptop. Looks like the Richtek L8 on it has similar problems as the device wont start and just blinks shortly while pushing the power button.

    It is up en down mosfet driver it give the gate the voltage to open .it is used in many laptops from the same generation, ik u have damaged motheroboard u can find one. Thank you very mutch for all your very goed videos i learn mutch ,

    thermal camera very rarely used by repair shop in my country because of the price, some using what they call MBR (high current 5-10A) to find fault component

    If you give the motherboard number i will try to get the schematic, thats if the 3.3 v dc ic buck controller, but somethimes if not the ic, i suggest to remove the coil and see whats line have the short, im think is pl301.

    I have an asus 403n motherboard with a pwm controller that has similar marks, except mine says 2N=3L E3U.
    According to boardview its name is "PWM CONTROLLER RT8249CGQW
    RICHTEK WQFN-20L"

    You should spend more time on it,remove that 3.3/5 volts voltage regulator ic and Check for short again on that cap to find if the short comes from ic or 3.3 volt rail (or 5 volt rail).of course if there is a short under 3.3 volts rail Power suply (that 5×=6f ic)has to be hot.

    I've found the manifacturer. Search for Richtek 5X. According to documenr that I've found, 5X is Product Code and 5FM1N is Date Code. You can find that file by searching DS8249-ABC.pdf and look for Marking Information on second page.

    You need to look for mother number and IC number on the board is PU310 you probably have to find it with that information
