      Yep. With ROP on, using the life drain ability will heal you to full health.
      I like to couple that with War Cry for armor and I just use Dragon Rage, heal, dragon rage, heal, ROP, etc. Enemies won't usually kill me because the armor is there.

    Early game, you have to move knight enchanter to god tier. It has just as much survivability if not more than champion due to the superior damage output compared to the champion build. You also forget, you have to spec the build also, so considering you respec to have all the skills in the champion tree, you would still need certain skills to make him even usuable, especially with a two handed warrior. While with Knight enchanter you don’t even need all the skills in the knight enchanter tree to make it unkillable. This isn’t even including the enchanted gear.

    • @invinciblereason1618
      @invinciblereason1618 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Yeah, it was a pretty cool spec but i understand why they did it. Blood magic is supposed to be this uber dangerous type of magic that everyone fears and hates but in DA2 you were just walking around with it. I think they took it out because of lore reasons. The closest you can get to a blood mage is by playing a reaver. I hope they manage to come up with a reason to being it back in DA4. The story/choices of inquisition didn't really allow for blood magic and as cool as it was, it never really made much sense in the other games as a warden and the champion of kirkwall. In DA4 they should allow you to take a darker path and bring back blood mage.

    • @SonAlexander
      @SonAlexander 4 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      The reason Blood Mage wasn’t a playable class in Inquisition for the Inquisitor was due to something Solas explains. Blood Magic weakens your connection to the fade. Thus, having the Mark and using Blood Magic would be counter productive.
      Also, Blood Magic is seriously frowned upon, how good would it look if a third party Army was formed and the leader was using Blood Magic?
      No matter how you slice it, you would never be able to swing Blood Magic in a positive light with the state Thedas was in.

    I'd re-evaluate the Necro-mage choice. If you spec with crit chance, using snowfleur skin to build some nice Rogue armor, along with giving them the Enhanced Belt of the Storm Pact (fire pact or winter pact may do), you'll have an amazing fear-inducing (literally) crit master thanks to some of the passives in the necro-tree. There's an AMAZING video on said build on Ninja Flip's channel, which is what got me to even branch off from playing as a Rogue into playing as a mage and specking in the necro tree.

    • @libraryofpangea7018
      @libraryofpangea7018 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yeah, but Knight enchanter has also had the most nerfs applied.
      When it first came out you could just dildo everything with your sword, bothering with other spells actually produced less dps most of the time.
      But its dmg has been halved since, and it operates off of a new mechanic. So you have to "charge" your sword with other spells just to do the same damage KE was doing pre patches.
      KE use to easily be god tier, but it's damage is way to low now.
      Rift mage mana builds are better now because you can keep everything perma CCed and you can spam things like fire mine.
      Uncharged KE blade is 150% weapons dmg, fire mine spam is over a 1000%. Paired with the invisible ring for mages, that mine is always going to be a crit as well. Stack crit damage in your gear and now you're super nuking everything around you. By late game you will easily be poping mobs for 100k at a time. Compared to knight enchanter which can't even get above 10k crits with it's blade strikes anymore.
      Wish this game was still receiving updates, KE really needs to be restored to glory.

      In my opinion, Sabotage/Artifacier dagger rogue, with a focus on cunning & crit damage.
      Even tho you're using melee weapons you're actually a mid range rogue.
      Every time you or someone in your party crits you get stam and cool down, paired with elusive stack poison cloud you take no damage.
      When you clone build varric you feed off each others crits, which basically turns knife throw into a machine gun.
      Keep perma stuns up if you want with trap & elemental grenades from both of you litter the field making every step the enemy's take feed you more stam and Cc.
      With the right gear even without Varric you can kill dragons in under a minute, my record is 12 seconds, on nightmare with full trial's.
      Everyone likes to say Champion two hander because your basically immortal and you can get massive crits off.. but honestly, killing something in 12 seconds is better to me than surviving it for a long time just to see a big number. Lol
      Tempest archer yoyo builds are good too imo, with grip hook leaping shot spam.
      Best mage now in my opinion are Rift mages because of the sheer debuffs and field control.
      KE use to be way better but now it can't even do a quarter of the damage my rogue does and its survival isn't as strong as Two hander Champs & its utility isn't as strong as Rift.
      On the bottom in my opinion is Templar and Necro, assasins & Reavers are fun as specific play styles aren't weak but aren't as effective imo as Art or Champ

    • @artorhen
      @artorhen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a little bit against the actual intended way in which the game should be played to play solo and assume that any specialisation is intended for playing alone. All of the specialisations have abilities that also don't do anything without the rest of the team and therefore are useless in solo. Characters are also a lot mote stronger in the team based on how the abilities of each specialisation are combined with each other and it takes way less time to fight anything in the game than going solo. Mages also are some of the best in the game simply because they can have reach easily far from where they are and can change the entire course of action of the fight and also do a lot of damage. I usually do so much damage with a mage on a regular mob before they even get to me or my team gets to them, and any team without a mage doesn't carry a lot of damage. If you run up to a mob to hack at them then obviously mages don't even have close combat and they inherently run around with a stick everywhere so it wouldn't make sense from that perspective, but if instead you put them in the best positions to use their spells, they wreak havoc worse than any other class and on a very wide range field.

    Weird. I played mage with the three specs and I always go back to KE with fire tree and some spirit for the barriers.
    And I kill everything really fast and I can last in the battle a lot.
    And in the DLC battles and nightmare difficulty KE it's a must unless you want to die. A lot.
    You have a mass ress/dot heal and it you go with barriers and fire tree to solo all.
    In the Descent DLC Vivienne was the only one standing each time darkspawn came to kill us. And I had her ress all the party with all the gain focus belt and necklace.
    Give your mage the blade-staff and you will hit AOE, add crit chance, put points in the fire tree and done!

      Rift mage is way better than knight enchanter (especially in descent dlc) because you can weaken enemies and get mana back. with 160% crit damage and 80% critical chance, you can use fire mine to get 19k damage, then combine with different spells.
      Note: its obvious, I'm talking about playing in nightmare and one can easily solo descent with rift mage on nm with correct equipments and enough attribute points.

    Something I found with my own Templar was that the Wrath/Purge combo could be done reasonably quickly because of the cooldown reduction on crit passive, in the 2-handed build (which I think still works with a shield equipped).
    Apart from that, I don't see how Knight-Enchanter isn't god tier from the midgame and onwards. They are the only ones in the game to keep up with Champions on the defense, on top of having one of the most versatile sets of abilities to compliment it with. KE can tank, spank, CC and support with the best barriers in the game for both themselves and their party, due to the passive that reduces barrier decay.

  • @Swag1ord
    @Swag1ord 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Actually, the templar should be in god tier from mid game to endgame simply because of the wrath of heaven + dispel combo. Sure, it won't work on bosses like dragons and what not but he's still the best in crowd control, far better than the reaver and the champion. I thought the reaver was the best before but someone proved me wrong. Dispel does 600% dmg to all enemies that are stunned and no other warriors can do that (the damage gets better with blessed blades). Also, any class becomes immortal after Skyhold if you choose to side with he templars cuz Fiona drops the amulet of barrier (basically does the same thing the KE does). When you get to lvl 16-17, if u min-max your character, u can get to 158K dmg against a group of demons. The lowest you'll get will probably be something like 70K against other group of mobs. Credits to Titus_Actual for the build.

  • @Jacob-df5hr
    @Jacob-df5hr ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Honestly, other than the mages on nightmare with trials where shit is immune to large portions of your kit, you can min max any build to make the game a joke. For example, you're constantly underselling Templar. A crit 2h Templar build with all of the relevant skills has its true combo nuke up every 6 seconds and is critting for overkill damage on humanoids and other enemies, not just demons.

    Your cool down lets you keep elusive up 💯 of the time, and the elemental grenades lets you litter the ground on dragon fights. So no matter where the dragon steps it's taking huge amounts of damage.

    No appreciation for the mages, i see. We definitely playing different games. Mages have excellent survivability - Barier (makes Mage infinitely more useful for the group than Rogue, especially early on) + Fade step + Ring of doubt + ton of CC. Knight enchanter have same survivability as Champion, but deals a lot more damage. Only downside is you need to play it yourself, AI sucks - so as tank of the group is not that great. Reaver has deacent damage but nothing special. Rift mage is Infinite mana Lord of destruction. It needs only 4 skill point to become Infinite mana (3 if you take area CC instead of damage). Late game when you have all 8 slots of abilities, it has no equal. And damage is consistent, and not burst like Assassin which is healpful in late game when regular mobs have 10k+ heals and 1 shot is not an option. Templar also is underrated. Has good combo and can be used as support. Late game can replace Champion as tank of the group becoming support/tank (at this stage they both are unkilable but Templar is better support). Also mage can carry all 3 element staffs and chose what to use before the battle (in that case staffs became almost as powerful as bows). This is especially true for the bosses and dragons that almost always have weaknesses to some elements.

      Just because you dont know how to play other classes doesnt mean they are not much better damage wise than mages.
      th-cam.com/video/M_YgRec443E/w-d-xo.html
      You'll find tones of videos of archers doing this, they are overpowered as fuck. Reavers also do a LOT more damage than mages its not even close.
      Its 100x harder to solo this game with a mage than it is with a rogue, why? Well because if you want to craft gear your rogue will one shot everything, lol.~
      The fact that you say that a Staff can become as powerful as bows means you know NOTHING about this game at the highest level.

I still want to try out Rouge tempest, champ warrior, & Knight Enchanter mage. I heard Rift mages and already have been to an agreement that they are the worst dps mages in the game due to the fact that they can’t do damage to boss tanks or dragons. They are only great at AoE against groups and that’s only one thing compared to other classes with multiple skills sets shatterstone or veil strike on a dragon is just dumb.

    I would put necromancer tier 1 for late game mobs.
    The passives are great for a start. Death siphon gives you health and mana per enemy that dies nearby, blinding terror makes enemies vulnerable to more damage when panicked, power of the dead increases your spell damage when you kill an enemy and simulacrum literally allows you to play as a ghost when you die and has zero cooldowns on all abilities.
    Then the actives. The other abilities are all great for CC but the best is walking bomb with the virulent upgrade. Virulent will infect other enemies nearby with WB when the original target is dead. Combine this with static cage + the upgrade that does more damage to them and groups become easy to wipe out. They are stuck in an AoE that they can't leave and are next to another person that is infected with a walking bomb. When you focus your efforts on the infected target then sit back as they explode, deal chunks of damage to other enemies and pass on the effect to them. It quickly becomes a show of fleshy fireworks and groups are taken out as easy as pie. You have horror to deal with ranged enemies which will be your only worry and any health you do lose you will just get back from all of the virulent walking bomb chain kills with the death siphon passive.
    This isn't even the best way to use necromancer either, yet it clears trash mobs like they are nothing. Sure, the other classes are better at fighting dragons but for dealing with mobs late game, i think necro should be in tier 1.
    And don't even get me started on KE. Literally get the mod that reverts the nerf and spam spirit blade through the whole game, even on nightmare. Should be at least T1 for everything at every stage of the game.

  • @xAUSSIEREAPER
    @xAUSSIEREAPER 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    This video (and your other videos) severely underestimates the Knight Enchanter. A Knight Enchanter using Fade Cloak, Chain Lightning and Fire Mine (using the 3 mine upgrade) and as many passives as you can invest DESTROYS mobs all the way through the game. Any that survive either die to Spirit Blade or survive until the cooldowns are done, at which point they get hit with Fire Mines and Chain Lightning yet again. Knight Enchanter should be minimum of Tier 1 the entire way through. And in End game it should be in God Tier.
    Assassin should be in God Tier as well against Bosses, a single target versus a high crit flanking cloaked Rogue? Nothing stands up against it. Especially once you enchant your weapons with 10% chance to cast Hidden Blades

  • @gogogoup

    in my first play through, i chose templar as my specialization and invested in high crit chance to take advantage of flow of battle so that i can cast the combo more often. honestly i really enjoyed the holy/magical knight theme and it has the best visual effects for the warrior class IMO. coupled with the masterwork that increases attack for each enemy in the vicinity, its potential to wreck groups of mobs at once is god tier even on nightmare with trials on. however when it comes to classes that are immune to stun, which are generally the harder enemies in the game, its just ok i guess and to get 2h greatsword templar to have high critical is a bit of chore at least without compromising attack. then i saw your artificer build, finished the main quests on my templar and have just started a new game with a rogue, cant wait to get OP, was bored of the "nice" speech choice on my templar anyways.
    anyways i still prefer templars for warriors as the combo is like a "true" ultimate, i get reaver does way more damage consistently but it doesnt have that oomph move and champion just can't die.
    to champion players, can you guys tell me why you enjoy that specialization? wanted to go champion initially as i love the unkillable theme and counterstrike is such a badass skill but then i realised it was a focus skill so i decided with templar. i would really love to use champion so yeah.

    IMHO, assassin should be god tier for late game bosses. I took down the sandy crawler at lvl 18, it was lvl 20 and it was dead from solo DW Assassin in about 25 seconds. (This was on HARD difficulty with walk softly, focus always removed after resting at camp, and the first trial forget the name, but always makes enemies at least the same lvl as the inquisitor. My first complete playthrough I did a DW artificer rogue, and I had a fair amount of issues with dragons. Probably because it was my first playthrough though. But I did Stealth, Poisoned Weapons, Toxic Cloud (Elusive stacks upgrade to avoid damage/status effects) Mark of Death with 50% DMG upgrade, throwing knives (with DMG upgrade) Hidden Blade (more hits upgrade) and the Shadow Strike ability (forget which upgrade I have on that) Spinning Death I ability, I think? (Ability where you kind of leap at enemy and spin in several circles with blades extended) hit Mark of Death again and It's at about half health at this point. Maybe a tad bit more than half. But by the point I finish off the ability rotation for the 8 seconds of Mark of Death and for the damage to show up from Mark, my cooldowns are about 1/3rd of the way back. To be fair, my character is ABSOLOUTELY STACKED in terms of crit chance and damage. I have 72% crit chance, and 138% crit damage. (My gear consists of BIS (Best in Slot) items/schematics I can obtain (schematics from my first playthrough so stuff like stone stalker blades and such) and the best unique accessories I can obtain at that point in time, like the Superior Belt of attack as an example. I don't think I have the superior ring of critical chance yet (iirc that's bought from the black emporium and I've not enough gold at the moment))

    My preferred warrior build is actually Templar. Playing through the game again with a two handsd Templar and Iron Bull sharing tanking duties (Sera is my rogue and Dorian is my mage because fuck Solas and Vivvian). Staying alive was difficult at first, but after Iron Bull got Horn of Valor and I got my speciization (and a ring that grants barrier), we're unkillable. Personally I think that Rift Mage should be God Tier late game for general enemies, because even in the FB, against the massive jaws of hakkon guys with the hammers, you can suck them all in, attack somebody 2 times with your main attack, have full stamina, and continue to use moves like Winters Grasp, Immolate, Chain lightning, and stone fist (which can be used after WG to do a shatter combo all by yourself), and you almost never run out of mana. EVEN IF YOU DO, you just suck everyone in again and repeat the process. That is, if anybody is still alive after being blasted with every type of elemental damage in the game.

      Lower the difficulty and don't go for perfect builds. Just do what is most fun gameplay-wise. The strongest builds in this game can be quite boring to play. Artificer, for example, can easily just spam elemental mines because every time you cast those things you get your stamina back and reset the cooldown. It does a lot of damage but it's boring. Just pick skills you like and play on normal or hard. Don't use the best armour and the game is still challenging but more fun than simply using the strongest possible builds.

    This tier list doesn't make much sense. If it was for damage only I would have agreed. Mages are bottom tier, rogues are top and warriors vary, no question there. But when survivability is on the line, this list is upside down and even contradicting itself. In early-mob game champion is god tier because he can't die, but knight enchanter with a survival build that also can't die must be tier 2... i mean... what? The mages have the best survivability abilities in the game, even better than that of rogues/warriors(though, true, after a certain point it no longer matters). It just sounds so biased toward making the mages look bad... In the previous games Rogues have always been the top DPS, Mages the top Tanks and warriors somewhere in the "middle". Inquisition is no different.

    1st Champion (Impossible to die)

    3rd Templar (can be immune to magic)
    The best support :
    1st KE (can heal, can revive, has great CC, has the strongest and longest barrier)
    2nd Templar (increase attack of team, horn of valor, increas element resistance)
    3rd artificer (increase crit, ilusive poison)
    The best CC :
    1. Rift mage (unlimited mana & spell)
    2. Necromancer (walking bomb one of the strongest best skill in the game)
    3. KE (not as good as necro or Rift but can do it well)
    4. Artificer (only mine type, with mine art can be great CC)
    Best overall (DPS + Tankiness + Support + CC combine) :
    1. KE (2nd best tank, best support, 3rd best CC, better DPS than champ and templar)
    2. Artifier (best DPS, 3rd best support, 4th best CC with mine)

    4. Necro

    5. Assassin
    (Burst damage, great against boss, but thats it)

At level 16 I was killing nearly solo dragons above me (nearly because I just let my party to their own devices and denied them using potions so they died within half a minute and I just slaughtered the Dragon alone without any issues. I would be full HP and Guard nearly all the time if it werent for my own damage to myself) - I would say Reaver is God tier already mid game.

Artificer simply brings so much more to the table, and it doesn't even have downtime, tempest's damage dies after fire flask

    I genuinely only played Rogue in two playthroughs and both times I never really understood the game like i never did my own specialization lol my first was with the bow and my second was with daggers, looking back on it I can't believe I beat the game twice while being just rogue

    It’s like this guy dosnt know that knight enchanter/fire mage can literally kill a dragon in under 2 minutes with a few fire mines... I’m about to start my 6th play through and every time I have played I have decimated as a mage.

    I find your logic a little confusing. You put the champion in god tier on the basis that it can't die, which is true. However, you put knight enchanter at tier 2, however, the KE has the same survivability and can dish more damage than the champion to mobs. For bosses/dragons, both classes are similar in power, though the champion has an edge in the ability - To the Death(En Garde).
    IN short, if you put champion in god-tier based the fact that they are unkillable, by the same logic then knight-enchanters should be in the same category.

    • @MrODST57
      @MrODST57 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      champion has actually invulnerability and can't be stunned to death the same way a knight enchanter can be on the higher difficultied. It's damage is pretty weak tbh like all mage specs relative to the other two classes.

  • @geert574
    @geert574 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Champion is best because the AI makes him unkillable so you can still play all the other classes too while your own char goes about its business. If you make a Rogue you have to micromanage him because the game seems bugged and intent on killing Rogues in one shot. Mages require too much end game gear to be autonomous

  • @cyrusvile6622
    @cyrusvile6622 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here is my tier list
    1) Reaver, artificer- who cares about survival I can just one shot all bosses
    2) Champion, knight enchanter- just take Vivian with sword, on ultra boss goes bye bye
    3) Assassin, All mages- huge aoe that murders dragons with aoe

    Damn, mages have it hard... Now I need someone to make a Katy Perry parody song. "It's hard, it's hard, it's hard out here for a WITCH". xD
    That's pretty much it with mages, they have a lot of AoE damage, but their main intended function is control and support. As soon as you're faced with an enemy that's immune to controlling effects, you're forced to dance around then and barrier yourself and your party members while THEY take the enemy down. Elemental immunities in higher difficulties only complicate matters even more, to the point that my "challenge junkie" playthrough was anneurism inducing... T T

    • @StarFlorge

    Last i checked, Fire Necros have WAY more damage than rift mages since Necro got a huge buff. Damage wise for mages, Necro is #1 and Rift is either last or if well played tied for #2 with KE.

    • @StarFlorge
      @StarFlorge  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ander Yanguas C I know Necro have slightly better damage than rift mage in some scenarios, however the reason I put rift mage above against general mobs is the cc rift mages get. All 3 spells are hard cc which brings it above Necro for me. Glad to hear people still love Necro as it was my very first spec on this game :D

    • @anderyanguasc5258
      @anderyanguasc5258 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean i understand the cc from Rift, it's amazing, i do however still feel necro isnt slightly more damaging but WAY more damaging than rift and overall is more effective than rift in both mob scenario or boss scenario since Rift's damage and usefullness come down by a lot when fighting dragons or bosses immune to CC, while Necro can still pop a shit ton of damage vs mob or bosses.

    • @StarFlorge
      @StarFlorge  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you point out that the main downside is v bosses and dragons which i put down as tier 3, but against general mobs played right Rift mage is far better. I based this of nightmare with trials where with a mage you wont be one shotting anything xD Rift mage cc, the ability to pull off combos such as shatter and infinite mana all adds up to be better. I've played both rift mage and necro the most in this game and rift is really really powerful. I could in the future just make a straight damage comparison or time to kill video XD one question I have is have you played rift mage and necro both on nightmare trials? - not trying to take a dig just actually wondering, im not grate at wording everything :D

    • @anderyanguasc5258
      @anderyanguasc5258 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      StarFlorge only necro with trials, ive tried rift but not on nm woth trials

    • @StarFlorge
      @StarFlorge  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to think necro was on top, but after playing infinite mana rift mage honestly it's insane. You have 100% uptime on damage and cc - you can practically have perm blizzard for free. when you put all the rift mage spell effects + their over powered passives they jump above necro. At the end of the day though this is my opinion and I always say play what you prefer and find more fun.

    Excuse me? Knight enchanter does INSANE damage, especially against general mobs. Barrier+chaotic focus+fire mine with flaming array murders literally everything. Top it with immolate and the other passives, and you'll be dishing out crazy damage and surviving the hardest hits. I can't fathom why KE is placed so low the entire time. Even with the nerfs it's easily still god tier

      Exactly bro if you build well a Knight enchanter you don't die you can spam barrier all the time to your friends and as long as you keep attacking your barrier will always BE full , Knight enchanter is better than champion imo This guy didn't play a lot,i only got the nightmare difficulty trophy because of vivienne not Blackwall

    • @StarFlorge

      I would maybe say Varric and Sera. Ironbull is known to do funny things as an AI. Your rift mage which does a lot of utility like CC and can run barrier. So having 2 rogues could work out really well :)
      Whilst reaver is amazing, it's not that great when controlled by AI, so that's the main reason for no Ironbull.

      You want your protagonist as your main damage carry, then one warrior support, one mage support and one rogue support. Yes. Rogue support with poison cloud stacking a buff that makes you harder to hit/negate an enemy hit.

      Every time I do the Boss/Dragon, KE performs the best out of all the mages, the only reason it is so low, is cause well mage is just nothing near what rogue and warrior can do, at all. KE is by far the best mage spec for bosses and dragons, as the video points out :)
      The question is really are mages as good as the other classes and its pretty much a flat no.
