I am so excited to do this prompt - I know, Corinne is always coming up with some great interpretations! I absolutely adore working on these projects with you all!!! FYI - since I started these projects, I have been able to lower my blood pressure by stitching a little every day..... My dr is thrilled to bits! LOL! So that means NO MORE statins for me!!
That is fabulous! Thank you so much ☺️
Hi Rach. Marion from Marion’s World just made a beautiful hussif. I love she cut the fingers off leather gloves to hold an old needle bottle. I know you will be having a wonderful time back home. Enjoy ! Thank you to you and Sarah for all the great videos you do. Carolyn from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I just saw Marion’s as well..great ideas everywhere..excited about this. ❤️🇨🇦
Lilla will be joining this great prompt aloha
Yay!
What a great prompt, such a beautiful part of our sewing history. Hugs Susanna 😊❤🧵🪡
So exciting to learn history of sewing! Thank you so much!
The needle rolls are similar to the chantelaines the house women wore in Victorian times. They held similar objects but on a main piece that was attached to their waist or around their neck. Love this Idea❤❤❤
Just climbed out of the rabbit hole. I am very inspired by the Civil War "housewifs". What a great project this will be.
I love a hussif. I made a needle roll to emulate one.
What a lovely project, beautiful already!💖🍀
Thank you! 😊
❤❤Ohhh Cool, make this to go my fabric pouch I'm working on . Love pocket on b9ttom. 😊😊
Wonderful! Thank you 🤩
My mother had one for crochet hooks. i will have to look for it. Love this
💗
Hi Rachel feeling excited about this prompt, right up my alley, going to be so much fun.
Enjoy your time with your family here in Australia, take care and happy stitching ❤
Thank you 🤩
What a fascinating sewing item. I will be trying to make one.
I love this, it is great.
The first time I ever saw or heard of a hussif-I’ve seen lots of spellings-it belonged to my husband. As a young sailor he had one as part of his kit, I believe his auntie gave him that one. Rachel, the colours are so pretty on yours. Time for a duck dive into my fabrics.
Thanks!
Wow thank you so much ☺️
What a delightful project❤ The pouch was the perfect addition 👌
Gorgeous and Very Cool! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Oh boy, so excited ❤
🌈🍀🌈🍀Buon dì
Oooo what a fun project, thanks!
Rachel, you really chimed my bell with this project. I have wanted to make a huswif for many years. I didn’t know where to begin. Here in the US. Fiancée,wife admirer would make one of these huswif to send their beloved on a journey or to war. I find fabric samples at my local flea market. I found a ready embroidered sample silk curtain fabric to use for the front, I have batting, and for the lining I have old quilt I have been hoarding. Really excited to begin. 🎉🎉
So funny! I stopped in the middle of my pouch and created a hussif or sewing roll then I created another one for my five year old great granddaughter because she was so excited about mine. I wouldn’t put any fluff into it as it get big real quick. Now I am going to finish my pouch and will be caught up. Thank you!
I LOVE this project. 💖💖💖
Fabulous Rachel ❤ can’t wait to get started. Love your coral reef stitchery too ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
This will be so pretty!
Love the project! If you were to herringbone stitch from the back to attach those fabrics, instead of the zig zag stitch from the front, it might give the same result a bit faster maybe. My brain is buzzing!!
Love this prompt. Thank for showing us❤. I went to your Etsy page but the fabric was sold out. Are you going to make new ones?
I love this. Such a great prompt so many possibilities. 💙
This is gorgeous! The old fabrics are perfect.
they were also called a Hussif in the 18th century
Hey Rachel...love this..thank you!
Oh my goodness.. now I can’t sleep!! ❤
Ha ha of course not Corrine, this is a great Prompt. ❤
Awesome project- can’t wait to start! Question for the group - any good tutorials on how to best utilize Pinterest? I just really struggle with it😅
I've heard older women here (North of England) call them a hussive/hussif (unsure of spelling!). Always thought it was a Northern English thing! Thanks for the inspiration, Rachel ❤
I am so excited to make one of these. It will be so useful for me to have by my chair where I do my stitching.
I will look forward to seeing you create this project. I made a Sewing Roll for my Mom about 20 years ago🩷💙🩷
I wasn't going to do this series because I've told myself I need to finish the projects that I've already started. But after seeing what these are I realize I must make one because when you travel this would be the perfect thing to have all your sewing necessities in. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Another rabbit hole to fall down in. ha ha
I looked it up and found that they were originally called 'Hussif's'.... thought it might help with the searches xxx
This is SO very awesome! This is going to so fun!! Hope you’re having a grand time in Oz. 💕🥰💕sending warm Hugs and good vibes your way.
What a great project and your fabrics are beautiful. Thank you 🌸
Thank you! 😊
I love your old fabrics. So pretty. I have some flour sacks from the 60 that I may use. These are interesting. The soldiers used to carry them too. Have lots of fun in Australia
I decided I didn't want to do this prompt, a bit intimidating for me, but now that I have watched this, maybe I will try one. I love the way you work.
Since I don’t have that gorgeous book in my collection, I’m headed down the rabbit hole!!! What a great project!!!❤️
Yay! Thank you!
Wonderful project ❤️ can’t wait to start 😊 Thank you for sharing 🌺
This is so exciting. Finishing up my second wearable and dreaming of what fabrics I’ll use next.
Just love the history to these ❤ can’t wait to start 😁 Rachel you and Sarah are so generous. Your enthusiasm is infectious 👍
Ohh,I love this! Always been interested in and fascinated by hussifs. Thank you, Rachel ❤❤❤

This is so awesome! I have never seen this project, I love it. TFS❤️🌴
Rach I have a question about your class on the 17th. Do I need to bring any supplies? Just wondering before I leave Brisbane. I just watched Sarah’s video. Sounds like you two are having so much fun. Great video hearing the laughter and giggles. Xxx
We will provide everything! Have a safe trip!
Rachel, such a nice prompt, my grandmother used to use these for sewing, I have to go look for it. Enjoy your day, thank you for sharing. Big hugs.
Thank you!
Definitely looks fun! Thank you 🌻
Love the new prompt and I can see Ms. Corrine going crazy on this one!
Hahaha I think you’re right! Thank you 🤩
❤❤❤
I don’t know how I found you, I stumbled really, and there you were talking about these beautiful historic sewing pouches. I was mesmerized. Thank you, thank you. I need to show up next week as you continue your beautiful project. I’m a simple sewer. Never had lessons or taken courses, but I love old things, old fabrics. I think I have found my people!!!
Thank you so much ☺️
Rachel: boy, this is really something new to see. You really had a handle, from the get go,for the direction you wanted to go in. Very exciting. As usual your fabrics are gorgeous. Carol from California
Thank you so much!
Oh how exciting. I had never heard of this. Oddly my husband knew right away, huswif--apparently that is what they called the sewing kits when he was in the army. Thanks so much for this. Off to search for fabric. Hugs.
So EXCITED to do this project!!
🤗 what a thoughtful and great idea, Rachel!!!! Marvelous
Carmen from the Maryland Eastern Shore

Thank you 🤩
So much fun and it’s an amazing project . Thanks for sharing 🪡🧵♥️
Thanks so much! 😊
It’s 6:00 AM still awake slept not at all. Bless you woman I was desparate for a sane video.
Thanks girls! I just bought FOUR books online! Oh my gosh the inspiration and legacy of women sewing is endless!
And we need to honour those strong, capable women who accomplished so much with so little. Their resourcefulness has plenty to teach us all.
Thanks Rachel ❤❤❤
Wonderful! ❤
Just lovely 😍
Thank you! 😊
Very exciting!!!❤
Yay! 🎉
Another fantastic project, that really honors the women who came before us. I just love this and the fabrics you chose. So looking forward to seeing the end project. Your kindness knows no limits!
Thank you so much!
Oh I’m soooooo excited!!! I did the embroidery book with you all n enjoyed all of it, the stitching and the wonderful community.
Unfortunately since then my health has prevented me from stitching. Now I’m ready to try again and this is such an idea.
Rach you are such good therapy for the perfectionist in me, you make me feel like it’s possible for me to stitch again, what ever I can achieve will be ok. Thank you for that, can’t tell you how grateful I am 🤗🤗🤗
started.
Thank you so much!
An exciting prompt! I was able to order the same book you bought from Etsy. ~Terri 😊
Yay, thank you!
These look amazing. And learning that they were made to send with a soldier or a traveler to take their sewing kit with them is inspiring.
