My canary sang when I brought him home two days ago and really got started properly as of yesterday. So really, it is certainly possible to make a new bird comfortable immediately if you set up the environment properly before bringing it home.
uh is it normal that when I first got my bird he just started singing a few hours later after buying him? Now he sings like every minute, and yes he is my alarm to wake up at school ;-;

When I hold the flame beneath his left leg he sings JINGLE BELLS, when I hold the flame beneath his right leg he sings FROSTY THE SNOWMAN and when I hold the flame between his legs he sings CHET'S NUTS ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIRE.
My canary used to belong to my dad's friend and he gave it to us so his house change and now he lives with us so I try to make him sing by playing birds singing and my bird does not have a partner so how can I make him sing plz help me and tell me anything u know
Don't make sudden movements around your bird, always talk/whistlee to it, keep as strict a routine as possible e.g choose a time of day for cleaning the cage and feeding the bird, and stick to it. For example, don't clean the bird cage tomorrow morning, then the next day in the afternoon, and the day after that, at night time. Choose a time for cleaning and feeding. then every afternoon, sit near the bird, talk to it, etc. But let it come to you, never try to go after it. Tell him how good he is when he doesn't try to hide from you. Every time he comes near you, talk to him. Reassure him every time he gets scared, and praise him when he's calm e.g not hiding from you. Do this every day, not just every other day. And use a little feeding container for treats, put it in the same spot every day so he sees your hand as just giving him treats in a container. Eventually you can try to feed him from your hand. But go with his comfort level, and interrupt the training as soon as he starts stressing so you don't make your experiences negative ones. Your bird should never associate you with discomfort or fear! Give him alone time, and also give him attention, that way your canary will know you're there to love him and he'll respond positively to you. I've only had my bird for three days now and he's already learning that I'm a friend and not a foe! It takes forever for them to stop being afraid but they still realise in a way that you love them. So keep working at it.
What!!! I want to know how to make it stop singing!!! My dad has like 15 of these after 2 years of having a pair and they are annoying AF they sing all day and especially at night when i turn on the lights in their room. Its like they tell me to shut them off lol
