Hi I have a question, can a domestic female canary coexist with wild western tanagers in a cage? Will they be able to keep each other company and mate?
Because there are some canaries that truly do not wish to be closento humans at all, and I don't want people pushing those birds for interactions 💛 Animals need to be able to show what they want to do and not what we want them to do 💛
Hi. I would like to have one canary male for the first time and I'd like to ask you some things can I? Is he loud in the morning? Could I sleep with him in one room? If he would be often in his cage, how large at last should the Cage be? He prefer longer cage than tall as I heard. Is dust dangerous for him? How often he need special send and cutting nails? And if I must leave him alone for one weekend and I will give him enough food and water, will he be ok? And can I replace his cage for night next the wall and at the day replaced the Cage in front of the window to have more sun? Thank you for answer 🙏 and sorry for bad English 🐦
Woah, that's a lot of questions buddu, I may not have canarirs yet but I think I can help you with some of your questions, is that Ok ? 1) Is he gonna be loud in the morning?: YES yes he will most likely be, and not just in the morning, if you have other birds he will likely even try to mimic their dounds in his song. 2)Could you sleep in the same room with him?: It depends, I personally have no issue sleeping in the same room as my birds but some people may have allergies to the dust that bird feathers produce. 3)How big should his cage be?: Although a finch or budgie flight cage is the best option I would say that a breeding cage(around 60 cm in length) can still be a great option if he doesn'r spend too much time in the cage. 4)should the cage be long or tall?: Preferably both, birds like to fly horisontaly but they still need some height to feel comfortable. Depending on how much time he spends out of his cage you may even be able to get away with a cage that is taller than is long. 5)Is dust dangerous to canaries?: Birds have a very fragile resperatory system, and canaries are no exception, dust particles in the air can cause resperatoty infections and other health related problems. 6)Will he need to have his nails cut?: Almost all birds will have to get their naild trimmed every once in a while, however you can slow the need for a nail trim by using natural wood perches, platforms and consrete perches(never sand perches). 7)Can I leave the bird for the weekend and will it be fine?: You will need to have someone come and check on the bird at least once a day if you are gone, they will also be able to do some dasic meintenance such as changing the wather in case the birds taked a nath in the wather dowl, or if you use water bottles change in case it starts leaking. 8)Can I use a differect cage for sleeping?: You probably can but I dont reccoment it, it's better to just move the cage from the window to the place where the birds will be sleeping. Have a great rest of the day buddy !
Hi I have a question, my canary keeps flying from one side of the cage to the other side and only stops to eat and bath is it something I should be concerned about?
When I was a kid, I had a young budgie fly out an accidentally opened window after being with me only 3 days. How do you let your canaries free fly without escaping?
We only open the windows at night when my partner and I both know for sure they are both in their cage (we lock them in their cage when they sleep) and we check every window like 3 times before opening the cage again 😄. And if we want to open the window during the day we communicate and make sure the canaries are inside the cage and locked in (they easily jump in of we bring them to the cage). We also have an extra door between the front door and house and our house rule is that one of the doors must be closed at all times when the other one is being openend, but if we expect visitors we lock the birds inside their cage to prevent possible accidents. We take a lot of precautions 🙈
So beautiful birds, love them. I was wondering what you do with poops when they are outside the cage ? Also what diet you give to the birds, you change it if they are in productive period?
I have another video about their diet on this channel 😄 it's the latest one we have uploaded. I clean the poops every evening, very managable with just a wet cloth 😄
Of course every individual bird is different and it the case with taming them too. I ve got my tamed whithout any special methods even he was already an adult bird. Anyway canaries like to sing the most and not to play games like parrots. In any case it is nicer to be closer to these beautiful little friends... 🐦
It is possible if they have enough space (big cage and lot's of outside the cage time), but they can start fighting for dominance or due to hormones during breeding season.
İ know that it's been a year. but i really need your help with something l, so i've just got a new canary and i am in my grandma's house so i can't let it fly in the house, will this affect the bird and won't make it love me? Waiting for your response
It will be different as your bird can't leave it's safe space and therefore you need to enter it's safe space (which is not advicable) 😊 Do you live there permanently or temporary? Otherwise I would try to keep most of the contact outside of the cage 😊 Also never push your bird to sit on you or have contact with you if it doesn't want that, that only works the wrong way
Hii yes ofcourse! You can either ask your question here or via a dm on Facebook or Instagram (those are linked in the description of the video), whatever you prefer 😄
How often are you giving him formula? Try to provide solid food and give less formula 😄 do you have other birds? Maybe set him close so he can see and copy foraging and eating behaviour
@@LemonBirbs After every 2 hours i give him formula. Yes, i also have other canary birds if you remember i have told you this before that his mother is not taking care of him and now she is preparing to breed again in her cage. Is it possible that this baby bird would never eat seeds in his life if i keep feeding him formula?
@@hsedits101 is it the same canary you told about 10 days ago? Stating that it was just a few days old then? Can you maybe contact me on our Facebook or Instagram chat and send photos of the juvenile canary? Its best to see the juvenile for me to give adjusted advice. What we do in the rescue centre is provide solid food at all times and handfeed a little less the older the animals get, we make sure they see the older birds so they can copy them and have an example on how to be a bird
@@Samtaraki Hii! So sorry for the late reply. Are you certain its scaly feet? I know that some cream could help, but that can also damage the feathers of the bird (making them become unable to fly and keep themselves warm). I think the best treatment is a medicine from the vet with Ivermectine in it. But this medicine can vary from name and brand in your country as I am from Netherland 😄 but if you call your avian vet or maybe a poultry vet they will know what medicine and in what dosage is best for your bird! 💛
Mine mostly sit in the same places (on their playgrounds, on me, near us) and we have napkins and blankets on those places 😄 very easy to switch out of they poop on there. Also their poops are very easily removable with a wet cloth 😄
So I just got this canary I think he's just over 6 months old. His owner couldn't take care of him anymore . And I don't know much about canaries. I'm talking to him every day and sitting with him. He has had no training previously. I've only had him for 4 days I'm holding food in my hand. I'm patient with him. At the moment he's just getting used to me sitting I know he wants the food out of my hand but he's not sure about this at the moment. I want to be able to let him out for a fly around. And hopefully returned to my hand to be put back in his cage do you think this is possible with what I'm doing at the moment 🤔O And i think you and your birds are amazing. You must put an awful amount of time into them. That's why I thought you were the best person to ask. Your videos are very interesting and informative thank you 😀
Hiya! Thankyou for taking care of him! I bet his previous owner really appreciates that! 💛 Four days is a very short time for a canary to get fully accustomed to his new life and surroundings, so that may cause him to be even more uncertain of what to do. The goal you want to achieve is definitely possible, but may take a looot of time (days to months to years) depending on the birds character and respecting his boundaries, but possible! And thankyou so much! I do indeed put all my time into them (and have done multiple behavioural studies in my current study) 😂
i have one cannary bird baby born just few days ago but he is very weak. Her mother is not feeding him properly. I'm afraid he is going to die. What should i do?
How is it going now with your canaries? I hope I am not the only one you contacted with this problem. The best thing you can do it find out if there might be something wrong with the youngster and maybe get help from an avian vet. If the mother is not feeding properly then you might need to feed the youngster, depending on its health
@@LemonBirbs He is fine now I have started to handfeed him with Kaytee exact formula. I feed him every 2 to 3 hours as he digest quickly. Thank you for showing your concern.

Hello, I really enjoy your videos! I have a beautiful American Singer named Maestro, about 8 years old, who wants a companion. What do you recommend? Have u a website? I love your taming techniques. I was told that canaries can’t be hand tamed, so thank you for showing the truth!
Hii! He sounds great! I think it's great to pair him with a female 😄 People often say they will stop singing once they are paired, but I know a loooot of paired canaries that still sing as much as "normal" 🥰 our female even sings together with our male 💛 I am active on different social media platforms like Facebook (LemonBirbs) and Instagram (@lemon.birbs) 😄 we do not have a website (yet)
I would love to acquire a hand tamed female! Do you know of any needing a home? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, if you can recommend any like-minded breeders or rescues/fosters. How can I allow them together, without breeding?
I did not poop train them 😄 a bird trained to poop on command or in a certain place, keeps holding their poop in until they reach that place or get the command. This can cause a prolaps, not to mention how uncomfortable it must be to hold your poop if you need to 😅 canaries poop around every 15 minutes and if they get the right diet, their poops are very easy to wipe away with a wet cloth (doesnt even need to be wet though)
My canarys know me and aren't scared of me but they don't come to sit in my head or my hand I dont know why, they breeded and got 2 eggs one of the hatched and the another egg hasn't hatched but the one which hatched doesn't run but I'm afraid I will hurt them if I touch them and they have already full hair, still...
Aww they know you're not dangerous, but might indeed still be a bit wary just in case 😄 If you want to touch their baby I would wait until it's a fledgling 💛 that way you might be more confident with possibly picking him up 😄
@@kelseyphillips7086 I am honestly not entirely sure what type of canaries they are since I have never seen their parents (who escaped at their previous owner their home). But they sure have hearts of gold and a character full of mischief 🥰
My canaries were tame from the very beginning 😄 I had to raise them by hand when they were only 10 days old (their parents escaped the aviary at their previous owners their house) and they have always seen me as their mother 💛 One of my friends also has a half tame canary (and he started taming him when the canary was already a few years old) and he's now working with him for over a year. But it's so amazing to see the progres 🥰 His canary will now fly onto his head and hopefully soon also on his hands 💛

I was gifted one of these birds after his friend's died but I always feel bad for him sitting alone in his cage. He mostly just looks at his mirror, so I wanted to tame him so I could interact with him. Since it's an older bird I worry getting him a friend might just make them fight instead. I sometimes put on bird noises on my phone for him though
Aww thankyou for taking care of him 💛 I think your bird might like to have a companion as well as spending time with you 😄 some canaries can live alone, but if they had companions before and he is looking at his mirror mostly, that is an indication that he might miss another canary to chirp too or to have fun with 😄
You can't stop canaries from nesting. Females will also nest and lay eggs without a male in the house. I have told (in this video or another) that I switch the eggs out for fake ones, so that they don't reproduce.
Our canary didn't want to be tamed for a while. But when we discovered he was just afraid of fingers, we could do a lot more :)

Ubóstwiam kanarki ❤ dziękuję za film 🥰
Hi I have a question, can a domestic female canary coexist with wild western tanagers in a cage? Will they be able to keep each other company and mate?
Hii, sorry for the very late reply 🙈 I don't know the answer to your question honestly, sorry! 😅
Hi nice video! What's the size of your cage?thanks
Thankyou! The cage in the video is 70 x 40 x 80 cm 😄 but I have upgraded the cage last year for one that is 80 x 50 x 110 cm 🥰
@@LemonBirbs wow, lucky birds got you as owner
Wonderful video and a very comfy watch. If you don't mind the question where is that accent from I can't place it
Thankyou so much! I am from Netherland 😄
@@LemonBirbs thanks for the answer
It’s beautiful 😍. Can you please tell me where can I get a cage similar like that one 🙂
We have bought this one from avonturia.nl. it's called the Fiona bird cage 😄 I think it's also on amazon
Thank you so much 😊
ODER 1 FROM FISH AND FEATHERS I HAVE THE SAME CAGE
Why possibly. I tamed my canary about 45 years ago even the bird was adult when I got him... Anyway you have my like, and support!
Because there are some canaries that truly do not wish to be closento humans at all, and I don't want people pushing those birds for interactions 💛 Animals need to be able to show what they want to do and not what we want them to do 💛
wonderful! thank you
Wow amazing nice may friend bird canary kolor yellow. 👍💞🌹🌹🌹🐦🐦🐦🐦👍👍👍
2)Could you sleep in the same room with him?:
It depends, I personally have no issue sleeping in the same room as my birds but some people may have allergies to the dust that bird feathers produce.
3)How big should his cage be?:
Although a finch or budgie flight cage is the best option I would say that a breeding cage(around 60 cm in length) can still be a great option if he doesn'r spend too much time in the cage.
4)should the cage be long or tall?:
Preferably both, birds like to fly horisontaly but they still need some height to feel comfortable. Depending on how much time he spends out of his cage you may even be able to get away with a cage that is taller than is long.
5)Is dust dangerous to canaries?:
Birds have a very fragile resperatory system, and canaries are no exception, dust particles in the air can cause resperatoty infections and other health related problems.
6)Will he need to have his nails cut?:
Almost all birds will have to get their naild trimmed every once in a while, however you can slow the need for a nail trim by using natural wood perches, platforms and consrete perches(never sand perches).
7)Can I leave the bird for the weekend and will it be fine?:
You will need to have someone come and check on the bird at least once a day if you are gone, they will also be able to do some dasic meintenance such as changing the wather in case the birds taked a nath in the wather dowl, or if you use water bottles change in case it starts leaking.
8)Can I use a differect cage for sleeping?:
You probably can but I dont reccoment it, it's better to just move the cage from the window to the place where the birds will be sleeping.
Have a great rest of the day buddy !
@@Thebeetlemangr thank you very much
What a lovely video
Hi I have a question, my canary keeps flying from one side of the cage to the other side and only stops to eat and bath is it something I should be concerned about?
This could be various things like being bored or having too much energy or something else. How big is their cage and do you give them enrichment?
@Lemon Birbs well we just got her and we will try to get her out of their cage more
When I was a kid, I had a young budgie fly out an accidentally opened window after being with me only 3 days.
ماشاءالله الله يديمو يارب
Yess absolutely, and age indeed doesn't matter at all! 💛
I like it
I' love canaries❤
Can I keep two male canaries together ?
It is possible if they have enough space (big cage and lot's of outside the cage time), but they can start fighting for dominance or due to hormones during breeding season.
İ know that it's been a year. but i really need your help with something l, so i've just got a new canary and i am in my grandma's house so i can't let it fly in the house, will this affect the bird and won't make it love me? Waiting for your response
It will be different as your bird can't leave it's safe space and therefore you need to enter it's safe space (which is not advicable) 😊 Do you live there permanently or temporary? Otherwise I would try to keep most of the contact outside of the cage 😊
Also never push your bird to sit on you or have contact with you if it doesn't want that, that only works the wrong way
Hello i have a canary bird question, could you help?
Hii yes ofcourse! You can either ask your question here or via a dm on Facebook or Instagram (those are linked in the description of the video), whatever you prefer 😄
Wow amazing 😊
i have almost 1 month old canary bird and he is still eating liquid handfeed formula. How do i make him eat sold food now?
@@LemonBirbs Yes its the same bird. Sure, I'll share his pics/video with you on Instagram tomorrow.
Check your Instagram inbox please
Omg how did you do that. I gotta watch the video
Can you guys recommend something for scaly feet, please? Any medication would be appreciated. (🇺🇸)
My mom doesn’t let me free them in the house because she thinks there going to poop everywhere so I don’t know what to do
Mine mostly sit in the same places (on their playgrounds, on me, near us) and we have napkins and blankets on those places 😄 very easy to switch out of they poop on there. Also their poops are very easily removable with a wet cloth 😄
My canary sometime sit on my head and lap and shoulder but he isnt tamed why that ?
Mayne because he just wants to 😄 some birds are very curious 💛
@@LemonBirbs aww cute

Four days is a very short time for a canary to get fully accustomed to his new life and surroundings, so that may cause him to be even more uncertain of what to do. The goal you want to achieve is definitely possible, but may take a looot of time (days to months to years) depending on the birds character and respecting his boundaries, but possible!
And thankyou so much! I do indeed put all my time into them (and have done multiple behavioural studies in my current study) 😂
Nice canary 🥰
Lovely video 🥰
i have one cannary bird baby born just few days ago but he is very weak.
@@hsedits101 glad to hear he is still thriving! Hopefully he grows up to be a strong, healthy birdy

Hello! Thank u for sharing this. I tried with my bird but unfortunately it has some bad attitude like biting and three user actions that I can't control, well u pls help me fix this? I wanna send to h some vids about the situation, so tell me how I can contact u if u dont mind
Hii! Is it bad attitude, or are you maybe not seeing his boundaries and crossing them?
I have different social media platforms of lemon.birbs, the links are in the description below the video 😄

I think it's great to pair him with a female 😄 People often say they will stop singing once they are paired, but I know a loooot of paired canaries that still sing as much as "normal" 🥰 our female even sings together with our male 💛
I am active on different social media platforms like Facebook (LemonBirbs) and Instagram (@lemon.birbs) 😄 we do not have a website (yet)
I would love to acquire a hand tamed female! Do you know of any needing a home? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, if you can recommend any like-minded breeders or rescues/fosters. How can I allow them together, without breeding?
How you poop trained them?
I did not poop train them 😄 a bird trained to poop on command or in a certain place, keeps holding their poop in until they reach that place or get the command. This can cause a prolaps, not to mention how uncomfortable it must be to hold your poop if you need to 😅 canaries poop around every 15 minutes and if they get the right diet, their poops are very easy to wipe away with a wet cloth (doesnt even need to be wet though)
Do you have ig that can follow, I want to consult about my pet canary
Amazing
What are the breeds of birds?
I don't know as they are rescues and raised by hand since 10 days old 😅 but people have referred to them as waterslagers
Beautiful Canary, thanks for the nice explanation
My canary is rescued from my aunt, because of their mistreatment he lost a leg and is afraid to go close to humans and I need to know how to help them
The steps that I mention in this video is a good start for this 😄 hopefully he has adapted to his one legged life 💛
My canarys know me and aren't scared of me but they don't come to sit in my head or my hand I dont know why, they breeded and got 2 eggs one of the hatched and the another egg hasn't hatched but the one which hatched doesn't run but I'm afraid I will hurt them if I touch them and they have already full hair,
still...
Aww they know you're not dangerous, but might indeed still be a bit wary just in case 😄 If you want to touch their baby I would wait until it's a fledgling 💛 that way you might be more confident with possibly picking him up 😄
God i hava axakli dat bord
What type of canary are your ones please? 😍
@@kelseyphillips7086 I am honestly not entirely sure what type of canaries they are since I have never seen their parents (who escaped at their previous owner their home). But they sure have hearts of gold and a character full of mischief 🥰
Heyyy, I was wondering how long it took you to Tame your canaries? :)
My canaries were tame from the very beginning 😄 I had to raise them by hand when they were only 10 days old (their parents escaped the aviary at their previous owners their house) and they have always seen me as their mother 💛
One of my friends also has a half tame canary (and he started taming him when the canary was already a few years old) and he's now working with him for over a year. But it's so amazing to see the progres 🥰 His canary will now fly onto his head and hopefully soon also on his hands 💛
@@LemonBirbs thanks so much! I’m hoping to get a canary myself :)
@@ukiyo_5306 If you have the time, space and money I would definitely adopt canaries 🥰 they bring sooo much happiness into your life even when they aren't tame 💛
Aww thankyou for taking care of him 💛 I think your bird might like to have a companion as well as spending time with you 😄 some canaries can live alone, but if they had companions before and he is looking at his mirror mostly, that is an indication that he might miss another canary to chirp too or to have fun with 😄
Too Cute
Good canary
Super.
And my canary isn’t feeling well it’s not flying moving and open mouth
Have you visited an avain vet with him?
Nice 👌
Interesting

thank yuou
Wait, they are siblings and having a nest together? What in the Alabama lol?
You can't stop canaries from nesting. Females will also nest and lay eggs without a male in the house. I have told (in this video or another) that I switch the eggs out for fake ones, so that they don't reproduce.
