People are not looking at canaries all day on the net there looking at birds though....
I don't agree with them cage sizes for me no bird should live in a cage as no human should live at a desk.
I have budgies & tomorrow I'll get a canary but they only go into the cage by choice at night during the day they can fly about.
I can see he can't keep that many as a breeder without organised cages & shops have to keep them in an economical space but to live there whole life in a cage that small isn't why God gave it wings.
Long term they should be allowed out sometimes.
I agree - the are highly intelligent animals that need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. To say "they can live happily in a cage without other birds", as the video does, is completely wrong.
Hi Driver Dan that's why most of the bird breeders have outdoor or indoor aviaries the more the bird fly the healthier it is,they put them in the aviaries during moulting time for about 3 to 4 months with a good seed mix and fresh vegetables and vitamins and plenty of baths and sunlight and for the colder months they move them to the indoor aviary's or long flight cages for maintenace ad health check ups one sick bird can ruin your breeding season,2 months before the breeding season starts you need to separate your male birds and put them in the breeding room in separate cages if you don't do that they will kill one another female canaries will fight when they have nested so basically you can have the birds together only during the molting months and in winter months wen they get in to breeding mode they get very territorial,so wat you need as a good bird breeder outdoor aviaries indoor aviaries or log and big flight cages separate rooms for you male canaries and female canaries for the winter maintenace you dont want you female to fall in love with the rong male :)) and start the breeding season too soon.so we move in the breeding room now and its time to introduce the female to the male canary and put a divider in the cage so they can see each other but not fight when they don't like one another most canary breeders use a 24 inch (60cm)long breeding cage i personally use a 30 inch about 79cm with a divider in the middle,the young birds the breeders will have form the first clutch need to to be in a bigger cage in the breeding room for at least one month to see if they can find the food and water on their own so you need to keep a close eye on them before they put them in the aviaries,the canaries a hybrid birds interbreed with wild finches like the European greenfinch the Atlantic wild canary and many other finches so it's not a good idea to let the fly away in the wild you will do big harm to the ecosystem and 9 out of 10 will not make it the first year.i always tell the people that buy birds from me to get a large cage so the bird can flap its wings at least 5 times and some other things like vitamis and vegetables ans so on most people don't know how to take care of a brid and what it neads are.and take special care when you let you bird out of the cage in your home specialty with the windows make sure they are closed in the curtains are in front and any harmful plants you might have,and this video is just the breeding room of the bird breeder no way he can have so many prices and medals with one small breeding room there's more behind the scenes you can't have lots of birds in one small room they get sick very fast, at the end of the breeding season all the birds are moved and the room is cleaned and sanitized this is very important for all the rooms and aviaries number one big rule of bird keeping it's a tough hobby if you want to have healthy birds and win medals,and yes canaries can live happy in a good size cage without other birds people by the male canarie for its song you can by 2 male canaries but make sure you have 2 cages they can get extremely aggressive in spring time
