      Germany had Schweinsteiger, Podolski, Götze, Mustafi, Özil, Khedira, and Kramer

      We lacked confidence going into that game and had developed a defeatist attitude. Despite that, we went in over-confident. So, offensively, we created very little. We had no “teeth” to our attack. We scored when we finally turned up the heat on them. Defensively, T&T’s first goal was caused by a sloppy mistake on the part of our defender. We defended too loosely against the guy who scored their second goal. BUT, all of that aside, T&T’s second goal was absolutely out of this world! It would have gone in against many teams. They say T&T were also out for revenge for having been knocked them out of a WC in Trinidad years earlier. It could have been, but, I don’t give too much weight to that. I give more weight to the fact that they were playing at home and that they were loose because it was the last game of that campaign and they had nothing to lose or gain.

      TechnicolorMammoth +Samm21 (1) Sounders do have his homegrown rights, but that has no impact upon him going to Europe now (should he choose) unless he has a contract with them. However, he doesn't have a contract because that would make him a professional and ineligible to play NCAA soccer. Having his "rights" does not mean he has a contract with the team, it just means within the MLS structure, there are certain agreed upon rights and contractual obligations that teams respect with regard to other teams' players.

    I'm glad they are not looking for games against Mexico, or lower ranked South American teams like Bolivia or Ecuador. They are taking it to the next level and playing the best nations in the world. USMNT is getting so good I get excited year by year I really wish all this fifa scandal makes USA the 2018 World Cup nation. To be fair, the USMNT did actually play Ecuador late last year and didn't really play that well to be honest. Ecuador isn't at the level of Argentina or Brazil but considering that they've made 3 out of the last 4 World Cups including the knockout stages in 2006 I wouldn't put them at the level of Bolivia. I definitely think that it's useful playing a team like Ecuador.

    Soccer isn’t that popular in the United States. It’s even less popular than fishing and car racing. It’s ranked #6 in popularity, no higher. Meanwhile in Mexico it’s the top sport, but yet we have more potential to win a Cup before Mexico does. If we had free academies and if other leagues worldwide were aired more, we could improve drastically. We only lost to Germany 1-0 in 2014 with an okay team. We’ve beaten the Dutch and Germans (2x) in friendlies too. We just tied with a powerhouse France, using 18-21 year olds with 6 caps total. USA has the best athletes face it, the Olympic Medal Count agrees. We didn’t qualify for the 2018 FWC, because we need to rejuvenate the team. We’re doing that now, come 2022, we’ll be qualified and ready to go again. Watch.

The trouble all started earlier on when the LCB Rüdiger stepped out too far to mark Agudelo who had come short. It forced the whole back line to shift and Hermann didn't recognize it.

Even our U20 team, which was our best U20 team ever...the kids of that generation didn't find soccer popular as they were growing up. And that's our best youth team ever. We will see a significant difference in 10 years time.

  • @andersgraf2802
    @andersgraf2802 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    My predictions: 1. By 2020, football (soccer) will have become the second most popular support in the U.S. after American Football (gridiron). It has already surpassed hockey and possibly basketball (The 2014 World Cup was watched by more people than the NBA finals and the MLS had a significantly higher average attendance). Baseball is a dying sport in my opinion and the World Series is watched by less Americans than is the World Cup; in the next four years, MLS attendance may very well surpass the MLB.
    2. The United States will host and win the 2026 World Cup, making football (soccer) the second most popular sport second only to American Football (gridiron) with an ever-increasing following. Association Football (soccer) is already the most popular kids sport and the recent increase in young players (16-22) starting their careers in European leagues (Germany and England in particular) will allow for great development.

    Good game, bus it is very unlikely, the usmnt is going to win WC18 or WC22 as many are stating here. You are young and so full of hope.... i admire you. actually i wish the usmnt all the best, and yeah, they are really catching up to world football. They already have a good team. But other teams get better, too. They don´t sleep, and they are also hungry. But football in terms of winning tournaments is so much more then just having a top-notch squad. So much things have to come together, things you just cannot influence: on-point-constitution, in-time-peaking, desire, self-esteem, even a big portion of luck. See, in the past of world football there were so many other teams that had been very good, teams that were called favorites previous tournaments. Teams like Holland in 1974, Brasil in 1982, ... But you just cannot plan winning tournaments. There are better teams, big football nations, that are starving for titles for generations, always believing previous big tournaments "our time has come, we are supposed to win!" I wish you the best of luck, but don´t be dissapointed in future world cups.

      Wasan Suttikasem Nah, maybe 2022 we have a shot. Our U17 and U20 have potential world class players.

    it seems like just a few months ago Altidore was our only decent striker lol Now we've got like a three way tie for #2 with Zardes, Morris and Wood all showing potential. Hope we stay with these young lineups(besides Orozco or Alvarado.. God They're awful) and run circles around these Gold Cup Scrubs

      Alvarado is a real great player honestly, he is just getting used to playing on the international level right now...he did play horrible against holland and he did mess up giving that free goal to Goetze, but look at him play with club América...he just needs time. As for Orozco he has played a while now in the U.S. National team and has not really delivered

      Adam Brown Novakovich, Tall, Morris, Wood, and Rubin are all promising. I like Zardes but I'm not sure he has what it takes to be a striker going forward. Which isn't to say he isn't a good player. He's flashed good potential. I'd like to see him out on the wings or in a two striker formation as much as possible.

      Sok- leks never even mentioned dempsey. He and Bradley will be controlling the midfield. And hopefully Altidore can be back in time for Guatemala to get back into playing form but if not I could get two fucks about him as well
