As a Brit, I'm fascinated by the explosion of popularity in 'soccer' in the US. Fun Fact: 10 of the 12 soccer-specific stadiums in the US were built in the last ten years. Good game
Despite all of the trolls, the USA knows very well that Germany is the team to beat in their group. We are fully aware of Germany's greatness, and as fans we expect Germany to win the group already before the third game. We respect Germany. But we also are aware that in the World Cup, anything can happen. France and Italy were favorites for the last World Cup and got dead last in their group. Now I don't think that will happen to Germany, but when we have Germany's old coach, and we have quite a few players including Landon Donovan who have a point to prove, anything can happen. I still expect Germany to win the group, but that's my sentiments.
Completely agree. Yes, Germany are no doubt the team to beat in the group, but we know that this US team can play with the best. Looking foreword to the WC. Go USA.
Actually, I'll be honest, I don't think Germany is the team to beat. I think Klinnsman has been focusing on beating Ghana and Portugal. 6 points is generally good enough to get through the group in second, and I don't think Klinnsman has any expectation of beating Germany. All the lead up games were against teams that had similar styles to Portugal and Ghana (with the Nigeria game also being a bit of a confidence boost because they won the African league). I think he's been prepping the team to go through behind Germany and face Belgium in the R-16. If we can beat Ghana and Portugal, that should favor us in case of a draw with either team, and hopefully the style the US has right now should give us a strong goal differential. If we can manage to draw with Germany, that would come out to 7 points and put us through the group. I don't think the plan is to beat Germany, but if we do, that'll be fantastic.
As long as Germany gets 7 or 9 pts ( preferably 9) we will face Russia or Algeria, most likely. If I had to pick Germany and Ghana go through, but Portugal and the US could. If both the US and Germany win their 1st 2 games, we (Germany) will play most likely to avoid Belgium best we can at any cost, even if that's means giving the US 9pts. Holland, Germany, Bosnia, France, Belgium, Russia; I think r the European teams that can overcome Brasil's weather
GermanyFan01 I hear the Rainforest stadium of Manaus is brutal. I watched England vs Italy and they wilted. Extremely hot, extremely humid makes it so that they can't exert their energy like normal. However, I think this is a huge advantage to the USA. The USA play Portugal there, and Portugal are a European nation that isn't accustomed to the heat and humidity. The USA however play in CONCACAF. And while the Americans usually get crap for that, it just so turns out that CONCACAF is a jungle. Meaning the Americans have played in this environment many times before and are used to it. That's an advantage.
I´m German, and i really have to say that the US Team are playing great soccer at this WC. Really like dempsey and jones, very nice and very enthusiastic player, looking forward to thursday, i hope the us team and the germans make a tie, maybe a 2-2 or 3-3 ;) :D
I love how people go on about how it was Germany's b team. A win's a win's a win. They were all top notch German players who play in top notch teams, and where defeated. Come the World Cup, I HOPE Germany underestimates us, so we come up with an uppercut while they're looking down on us.
They probably won't. Joachim Lowe respects Jurgen Klinsmann far too much to underestimate him. Now player wise, they might. They might underestimate the US players and a few plays happen that they weren't expecting. But the coach will not underestimate the USA, I know that for a fact.
My fellow German friends. We are fully aware this isn't your A team. Joachim Lowe said it was your B team. Your B team is very tough as well as they dismantled the 10th rated team right before this. Anyways, if American fans are this excited about beating your B team, shouldn't you take that as a compliment haha? We view you guys as one of the best, that's what we're saying. Anyways, I was in horror when the USA got put in this group. However, I think this will be a great group to watch as I honestly feel like every game is of the utmost importance and that every team in our group stands a legitimate chance to advance. Of course, Germany are the favorites to advance though and deservedly so.
I like our chances in this group. We get a chance to start on a strong note and we are a much improved team since the last World Cup. We haven't always played our best when we are heavy favorites and seem to do well when we are looking up at competition.
You guys are phenomenal, every American including the non soccer fans know this. I have to say that Schurlle caused a lot of pain to us as well that game haha. And he alone exposed our defensive weakness (we know they're the weak spot of the USA and that concerns us). Beating Germany somehow sparked a revolution for the USA, we have been on fire ever since winning against you guys as it gave us a lot of confidence. So thank you! And thanks for the WC comment :) I think you guys will win it.
regardless of it being a B or C team from germany, the USA completely outplayed germany in this game, then got a little too comfortable in the second half and gave up two easy goals.. i feel like we would be able to give the german first team a pretty good game since their reserves weren't much competition. (p.s. remember not all the US starters played either........)
The players were on a holiday. All of them started their summer holiday on this day. Season over, no pressure. If you think you will see the same in a real competition you're in for a laugh.
yaaa Portugal alone with Cristiano is dangerous Cristiano will ruin US deffence and Ghana with Boateng be careful not saying USA doesn't have good team bu don't think they will have it easy also Cristiano isn't the only one Portugal has many more Pepe,Moutinho,Miguel,Nani,Coentrao
THEwolfmaster100 USA can control Ronaldo. He can be taken out of a match if you're physical with him. Easier said than done, but USA are one of the few countries that can do it. I see the match as a draw unless there's a sending off, in which case anything can happen. No one gave us a chance against Figo and company in 2002 either.
As a German i of course want my NT to win such occasions but as a football fan i have to say that i love it that the USMNT plays so well. I laugh at haters - the US team is a good one and i am glad their german coach played a role in it. All the best for the WC.
Whenever the US plays a country in soccer, its always: "THE BEST FUCKING SPORTING TALENT IN (ex:) ARGENTINA" VERSUS "THE BEST OF WHOEVER FUCKING CARES ABOUT SOCCER IN THE USA"
TBH if USA makes it out of group stages they have a great shot at making top 8. If they beat Ghana their chances of advancing are solid and Ghana hasn't scored a goal in the past 3 games, and 1 in the past 9
It will take more of the USA vs Slovenia or USA vs Algeria games for older Americans to get it. The youth seems to be understanding it more and more. That's what got me into soccer was seeing moments like that, I've never had that much adrenaline from a sport before :)
Yeah I hear he was one of the best strikers ever. People were unsure of him at first (they didn't think his plans could work on Americans) but now everyone really likes him and he's been incredibly successful so far. And yes, he has done that with us too. He has increased our depth incredibly (we've never had depth) & has a ton of young players that look very good all of a sudden. Again, something we generally haven't had. He has revolutionized this team, Americans really like the German coach
Yeah i forgot bout klose and kruse who was in the c team in that moment, schürrle didnt play and bender from leverkusen, it was one of his few matches w germany. However still c or b team, and yeah for me Sam is better the kruse
I agreed, but I just think no matter what team we get in our group, we will still do good. It just I think this s the best team that I have seen for long time
I will always support my US team first, but Germany is my favorite team in the world other then our own. Their style of play and the goals they score are stunning every time its a big tournament. It was a fun exciting win for us on the same day we celebrated 100 years for US soccer so it was great. Another reason is we so much respect for German team...we know it doesn't make us "better" but a good win. The German players and coaches seemed to really enjoy the game.
Ghana and Portugal are beatable. Ghana is due for revenge, and that mentality will be playing in all of the American players. You'd be a fool if you claimed mentality doesn't play a role in sports. Ghana barely beat us the last two times, and this is arguably our best team ever. Portugal have lost to far inferior opponents than the USA recently, so they also are beatable, or at least tie-able. 4 points should be enough assuming Germany beats everyone. And even against Germany, we have a strong team with a coach who knows Germany far too well and quite a few players with a point to prove, so again, mentality. Perhaps Germany aren't invincible, although I expect them to win the group. Anyways, the point is that there actually is a decently good chance for the USA to advance. Beat Ghana, beat/tie Portugal. Even with CR7 there, Portugal are beatable.
shnickel1 thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look let the trolls be trolls because it takes action not statements......anybody can win in group G if we want to really look at it.....Ghana can beat germany because they nearly beat them 2010......Portugal can beat ghana likwise vice versa....usa can beat germany....hell we beat spain a year before they where crowned WORLD CHAMPIONS and they brought there full squad with bob Bradley as the coach......we nearly beat Brazil that same year even thou they are much stronger now then they were in 09........we can stay with any team in the world it all comes down to who underestimate who and clearly every team will look at the Americans as an inferior team until we beat them.....Ronaldo for the most part is gonna get frustrated as usual if he isnt fed the ball which he has shown on various occasions....Germany run a 4-2-3-1 formation likewise the us and don't forget that joachim low had learned all the tricks from jurgen klinsmann in 2006 so im not really worried about Germany....Ghana has always struggled with the us because they always out lasted us as the game wore on but if you know jurgen then you'd know that he is all about fitness and condition and knows how to change a formation by halftime to get results so Ghana are not my issue there coach is mediocre.........Portugal again are not world class so im not worried about them.... FINAL RECORD WILL BE W(2) D(2) L(0) USA VS GHANA 2 1 USA VS PORTUGAL 1 0 USA VS GERMANY 1 1
HELLO Yeah anyone can advance and anyone can win it. I don't know how accurate your USA vs Germany prediction is. I predict it will be higher scoring and I actually predict it will be pretty close. I don't know if we will win it or tie it, I think that might be the game we'll lose. But I don't think it would happen without it being valiantly. Your other two predictions to me seem decently plausible. Jurgen will probably know how to approach Germany though. We have to win vs Ghana, that's a must win for us. And Portugal, we have to win/tie by keeping possession and keep Ronaldo off the ball. If he decides to go off it's game over. Portugal have lost to far inferior opponents to the USA recently so they're beatable. Just got to keep that Captain of Portugal in check. I read a quote once, it was something like this: "Americans are the only fans in the world that underrate their national team, everyone else overrates theirs." That shows all the time. What these little negative fans don't realize is there is a legitimate chance for the USA to advance. I also read one other thing, the survivors of the groups of death generally do fantastic in the tournament. And we're in one of 3 groups of death in this tournament.
Natürlich ist das die Deutsche Nationalmannschaft nur nicht mit dem top stars denn wäre es anders ausgegangen... Of course, this is the German national team just did not go out with the top stars because it would be different ...
plasticboy81 If you're German I expect your team will advance. However, let's not forget Italy and France in 2010 ;) Anything can happen, even to a superpower team. The USA will fight very, very hard, you can expect that. And we shall see how this group goes :)
Thanks. I'm excited for the future of U.S. in the sport. I'm thinking by the next World Cup (2018) we can perhaps be somewhat of a legitimate contender. It's 5 years away, plenty of time to develop.
You're ignorant if you think it matters, we're America...we don't back down from a challenge from anyone, tough opponents are motivation to play harder, guarantee you we go toe to toe tomorrow win, draw or loss
Glad I live in America, to see this show of stupidity in 3D, besides, what's wrong with telling the truth, the whole world knows America can't comprehend it
Who cares what team it was we played, it was a friendly. Germany actually gives a shit about soccer as a nation so I would expect them to be better. That's like if Germany beats us at hockey and it was our scrub team what is the purpose of pointing that out? God damn their are a bunch of haters.
Expectations or not...just because Germany is a soccer nation doesn't mean that we win every game. Our coach made the right decision and gave young, unexperienced players the chance to prove themselves. That they wouldn't be as good as our "A team" was to be expected.Good players will not fall from the heavens just because our country is a "soccer nation." ;)
When you said Italy didn't play with heart, that is something you will never catch the Americans playing without. Every American plays with a lot of heart and the #1 aspiration for American players is to represent the national team. Also considering that the rest of the world calls us "the joke of football" it really adds another level of heart for them. We may not be an elite team but we do have the heart :) Random question, did Giusseppe Rossi get called back to Italy yet after his injury?
Germany's gonna look for revenge. plus Draxler is gonna kick our asses. he's really good. also, Gotze, Muller, Gomez are gonna put a lot of pressure on our defense, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, are gonna make a solid midfield. And Schurrle, Mertesacker, and Lahm are gonna give our offense problems. But we will fight to the best of our abilities. i expect a fair close match.
If I were to take a bet, I'd say 3-1 is realistic. I don't expect the USA to beat Germany, but I do think we'll score on them at least once. Donovan, Johnson, Jones, and even Julian Green (if he gets playing time/goes) have something to prove to Germany. And Klinsmann is the ex coach.
I've actually heard about that as well. Totti is a great great player, I haven't had the fortune of seeing him play in his prime but even now the guy is a great player. I'd love to see him play for Italy. He's just well rounded. This world cup looks to be one of the best. Like I said, there's so many elite teams and non seeded elite teams and then there's so many very good teams that aren't quite elite that will make quite a few group of deaths. Here's hoping neither of us get one :)
Ch Ki lol it was a 1-0 loss. Not that bad. 2nd in the group. And at the time of the game we didn't know it but we were playing future World Cup champions.
the u.s won't do shit against elite teams. they couldn't beat panama in the gold cup this year. imagine against Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands with a the complete A team.
well i see that you are great football fan, and im happy that so many americans are moving towards the game, i understand that in the us football can never reach the popularity of american football or basketball but i think that it had made a lot and a lot of improvements, and future is looking bright for the us team
You have to keep in mind that even though this is your B-Team, your national team is #2 in the world. The guys running on your B-Team are easily on the level of some smaller teams like Russia, Ghana, Ecuador, and so on. Being able to match pace, or at the very least surprise them long enough to clinch a win like this is very promising for those of us supporting a team that has been languishing miserably before the last decade.
Lmao I'll be real with you and say that mls sucks complete horse dick and that out of the 64 encounters Mexico has with the USA the record is 36 wins, 14 ties and the rest our yours lol btw has any American soccer player broken any records with a team such as Real Madrid that just a couple years ago Ronaldo broke ? If that have any American players even play with barca or Madrid ? I mean I dout it since one of you more prized player Donovan plays with a team where it would even surprize me if 100 people even went to their games lol ,what about the fact that you lost to brazil on American land, and last time we played them on your land we won lol .as much as i love the u.s as a country dont disrepect your daddy in "soccer" (; i wana atleast see you guys beat the "poor" africans this time around lmao cmom be real LOL
ObeyTriickShotz I mean if you have to bring back the past for something I said then you must be quite butt hurt there babi boi, don't get hit with that #yeadoe thou lol
>Proper European Team >isn't as Hard >MNT is not superior to Mexico's team in any which way >Wins 4-3 in a friendly game against a b (or c) team Only USA Soccer fans would count a 1-0 loss against Germany as a success, so I can understand why you found this match to be important.
Wow that's a great compliment, thank you! And the fact that you put him in the same sentence as Pirlo and Iniesta, two of the best players, is honorable. I don't think he's as good as them either but I still think he's very good. He's capable of doing many different roles and styles brilliantly, defensively and offensively. Even scoring: /watch?v=3Hp2E6DdIvk He's definitely a fan favorite here in the USA haha. Yes, I'd agree, those are our best players and I personally think Donovan is the best
Rematch, Thursday! All I can say is after ur 2-2 draw vs Portugal, um thanks for giving us shit about tiring one of the fastest teams in the World, we beat Portugal 4-0, um how did u tie them?
African teams don't suck. Every team has that one type of weakness, ours just happens to be Africans. Big Deal. We beat Portugal 4-0, tied Ghana 2-2, u guys got lucky to win 2-1, I just feel u guys needed that to feel happy, then tied Portugal 2-2, in the last 40 secs. Like u said, ur D needs help, so does ours, but remember, we went toe to toe with Ghana and tied, u guys never beat Ghana by doing so, oh and what injuries do we have? I just have to say, I think ur guys' hype is 4 years to early, that's all
GermanyFan01 If you run up the score on us Ozil knee? Bye bye. Mueller knee and ankle? Bye Bye. You keeper will get it too. We give zero fucks about fair play. Fuck us up and lose your stars. We can both escape the group or we will attack your players. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
Lmao germany wasnt even trying. This is like germany b playing. Wheres lahm, schweinstieger, gotze, reus, kroos, klose, boateng, ozil, neur the fuk did i just watch
2006? I was actually in Rome when Italy won the semifinals and in France when they won theirs. That was awesome to see! I became aware of the sport then but it was 2010 that really got me into it and a lot of others. Among the youth it actually has surpassed basketball, shockingly enough and American football is wary of it. Still that's the number 1 sport though and by quite a bit. I think the rise in popularity will cause even more improvements to our national team.
Regardless of who played for both teams, this game was awesome. I'm extremely happy with the US team recently. Obviously, Germany will beat us almost every single game, but I'll be happy that one game we win. Any win against a football powerhouse like Germany is great
Well thank you, I hope we can upset a few teams and cause damage at this World Cup! I see Germany and Brazil as the favorites, I just think Brazil has momentum due to it being in Brazil. You're right, this World Cup will be particularly difficult. I think it's gearing to be one of the best ever. Thank you, and good luck to you guys too.
Agreed. If your coach can make sure the players know that nobody is untouchable, it will make the starters play better and it will make the bench play with more heart and perform better as they realize they have a chance. And it will reward players for playing well. One thing I think about Italy is that your coach needs to somehow control Mario Balotelli. He's soooo good but he needs to work on some things. If he's in form, he could pull off some amazing goals for you guys.
Thanks for the reply but that's not a very good analogy-Dirk is a 35 year-old German that plays center in the NBA which is the tallest position in the sport but let's forget the NBA altogether for a minute. There are approximately 1,023,142 high school football players in this country. There are another 65,648 NCAA division I football players and around 1,696 active players in the NFL. If anybody saw the Costa Rica game it was pretty obvious we didn't have enough power or speed on the field.
Yes your team is amazing. Your talent is amazing across the board. You have the best young player in Europe on your bench, your depth is only rivaled by Spain. And yes, if it was your A team you likely would have won, but then again the Vegas odds were considerably in your favor this game. Trust me, every American fan is aware of how good Germany's A team is. We're just excited because for the first time in ever, it looks like we have a fighting chance against the best teams.
Not to know what is going to happen is so much more exiting. There are games like Basketball where,if you already made alot of points and the other team is too far behind, you know that the other team that is too much behind can't
Oh that would be nice! Yeah he seems like he's pretty talented and it would be cool to see him on a big team. So who are the young players that you think could be superstars in the Bundesliga youth academies?
Now I've spent days discussing with you guys and I'm starting to understand your pov. It's ok to be happy for the team as long as it isn't getting overboard.Sry for my crappy English.:D
Actually yeah we Americans do talk about him quite a bit. He's a pretty popular player among the fans who know about youth players. I hear he's doing quite well!
Btw, the change to english button is at the right top near the login thing! You should definetly check this page out. It's an official page, maybe the best footballstatistic side in the whole internet.
To those who say that soccer has no action because of the lack of scores. The atmosphere in the stadiums alone already create an action and power that you can't find in any other sport in my opinion.High scores don't make a game more interesting. The game itself does. You don't go back and forth and know that there are gonna be goals.
As a fan of the USMNT I'm glad that they were able to beat Germany here, but when it comes to the World Cup everything changes. Germany is just on a far superior level, and as we all know, Germany tends to score ridiculous amount of goals even against the best teams in the world. Anything can happen in June, but until I see it happen, I'm just going to say that beating Germany will be very difficult and unlikely.
and just so you know, I saw quite a few comments today and yesterday, after the United States' epic win which saved Mexico's WC chances, regarding Jurgen Klinsmann. The USA's B team was losing to a desperate Panama and then in the 92nd and 93rd minute the USA scores and wins. It was the subs that did it. The comments were similar to this: "Klinsmann is the best coach ever!!! Thank you Germany". My point is that those were normal Americans, not trolls. And you can see that they're good people.
It was historic because it was the 100th anniversary for US soccer (even though we only had a league about 20 years). Thank you on your sentiments :) Among the youth, soccer actually is pretty popular now. 2-3 years ago there was an explosion in popularity and between the ages of 12-24 it is now the 2nd most popular sport. 5 years ago though nobody cared about it. The older generations still don't like it but the youth does and that is how you improve! Good luck to us both in the WC!!
Just because you mentioned it, ESPN did post a letter today from an "Anonymous" scout from an elite team. He didn't reveal which league, but he's presumably English because he put Bale on CR7 and Messi's level ;) Anyways, he scouted USA's Agudelo (20) and essentially said that there is a star in there, but due to his immaturity we don't know how he'll develop. Probably the only fan favorite who isn't a star player is Johannsson (22). & there's Jozy (23). Those are just 3 examples out of many
I've read many comments here where people claimed that our coach underestimated you which is bull.He gives younger players the chance to get some experience or the chance to prove themselves..We have the luxury that we not only have 11 good players on the field but another 11 good ones on the bench.Throw 11 trikots into the air and those who catch one play.It wouldn't make a difference. Our team takes everyone seriously. That is part of their strengths.
the spirit of good old american bravery is reflected in this USA team ,Americans never scared of there opponent amazing ,i think personally, this the time they deserve huge publicity in local media . if they able to go till last 16 ,they deserve white house reception just like the NFL super bowl winners .
And I was pointing out that there was some A teamers, B teamers and C teamers there but mostly B team. But it doesn't matter. Germany didn't want to lose, they fought hard. Even Joachim Lowe said "Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore were very good, they are very talented players". Your coach gave credit, I just wonder why it's so hard for fans to. We know it's not Germany's A team, even ESPN said that when we won, but you know those players are good and the USA overcame them, it's exciting.
It doesn't matter if this was a B Germany team they still had amazing players such as draxler, max Kruse, and bender all play first team football in the bundesliga so this was a major success for this US side
believe me belgium is not only lukaku company and hazard, but they have players like vermaelen, felaini, vam buyten, de bruyne and escpecialy mertens this guy is playing with napoli right now and he is doing great, but i think that it will be a world cup of surprises, countries like belgium, colombia and others have close a lot towards the usual favourites, the us is a good team and if they say that you are a joke is because they hate your country not the team
I am American lol. Did you realize among the youth (ages 12-24) it's now the second most popular sport? Surpassing basketball. It is suspenseful action but if you ever watch one El Clasico that's action Americans would love. It's insane! What got me into it was the World Cup, watching the Americans fight to make a point, and that was encouraging and an adrenaline rush. Getting goals is never easy, but sometimes they are bountiful or nonexistent. But entertaining Ronaldo: /watch?v=QoDb4t9N3c8
As a Brit, I'm fascinated by the explosion of popularity in 'soccer' in the US.
Fun Fact: 10 of the 12 soccer-specific stadiums in the US were built in the last ten years.
Good game

Completely agree. Yes, Germany are no doubt the team to beat in the group, but we know that this US team can play with the best. Looking foreword to the WC. Go USA.
Ummm no more half that team that u just saw the highlights of, including Donavan lol
I was at this game, it was awesome
Joachim Low needs to give Mario Gomez another chance.
Hell no he does not connect well with ozil Klose is a better option. The semifinal against Italy is proof
Arsene Minani Klose is injured. He wont get selected.
Gomez is injured, Klose is in the squad
I love how people go on about how it was Germany's b team. A win's a win's a win. They were all top notch German players who play in top notch teams, and where defeated. Come the World Cup, I HOPE Germany underestimates us, so we come up with an uppercut while they're looking down on us.
They probably won't. Joachim Lowe respects Jurgen Klinsmann far too much to underestimate him. Now player wise, they might. They might underestimate the US players and a few plays happen that they weren't expecting. But the coach will not underestimate the USA, I know that for a fact.
Face it Germany shows up in World Cups and studies their opponent inside n out
My fellow German friends. I like our chances in this group. We get a chance to start on a strong note and we are a much improved team since the last World Cup. We haven't always played our best when we are heavy favorites and seem to do well when we are looking up at competition.
i like our chances too.................

And thanks for the WC comment :) I think you guys will win it.
i went to the us vs germany and we won 4 to 3 i cried like heaven
regardless of it being a B or C team from germany, the USA completely outplayed germany in this game, then got a little too comfortable in the second half and gave up two easy goals.. i feel like we would be able to give the german first team a pretty good game since their reserves weren't much competition. (p.s. remember not all the US starters played either........)
The players were on a holiday. All of them started their summer holiday on this day. Season over, no pressure. If you think you will see the same in a real competition you're in for a laugh.
7:20 Dempsey to Boyd: "You gotta do what I tell you!" Mugs him down...
I'm picking Germany to win the group and the US to win the second spot. Ghana and Portugal are overrated.
LOOOL, you'll see Portugal "overrating" all over the usa... ;)
yaaa Portugal alone with Cristiano is dangerous Cristiano will ruin US deffence and Ghana with Boateng be careful not saying USA doesn't have good team bu don't think they will have it easy also Cristiano isn't the only one Portugal has many more Pepe,Moutinho,Miguel,Nani,Coentrao
Carlos Gonçalves he was correct, apologize
ProstheticScissor you are right, Sir
I saw this game in DC ,, was a great day !
Brug ter Stegen really improved
Lol that German GK is the Barca Keeper now
ELBandido ...and he has been a good replacement for Valdez so far.
ELBandido Why is that funny?
***** lol
Actually it was the C team of germany with 4 players of the B team - Podolski, Draxler, Sidney sam and Mertesacker who is in the A team right now
So Kruse is worse than Sydney Sam? And what about Klose, Schürrle, Bender, Höwedes?
Yeah i forgot bout klose and kruse who was in the c team in that moment, schürrle didnt play and bender from leverkusen, it was one of his few matches w germany. However still c or b team, and yeah for me Sam is better the kruse
As a German American I am so happy that both teams advanced. God job to both teams.
I am an American, the USMNT has no chance is this grouping.
FINAL RECORD WILL BE
W(2) D(2) L(0)
USA VS GHANA
2 1
USA VS PORTUGAL

USA VS GERMANY
1 1
Thursday June 26th 2014,Recife.USA vs.GER.Hurray.Will be the last game!:)
For both of us as we both advance ;) ... hopefully
this wasn't the original team of Germany
Natürlich ist das die Deutsche Nationalmannschaft nur nicht mit dem top stars denn wäre es anders ausgegangen...
Of course, this is the German national team just did not go out with the top stars because it would be different ...
mathias pl Guess we'll find out ;)
shnickel1
the usa is getting better sor sure. but at the world cup you will not take the butter from our breads ;-D
plasticboy81 If you're German I expect your team will advance.
I wish I could have watched this live! Awesome game!
It's Marc-Andre ter Stegen, not Marc-Andreter Stegen...
Accidents happen. im sure they caught that
Look at him today now.
Oh and btw, this is our C-Team, it's not anywhere close to the team ur playing tomorrow
You're ignorant if you think it matters, we're America...we don't back down from a challenge from anyone, tough opponents are motivation to play harder, guarantee you we go toe to toe tomorrow win, draw or loss
Matt Neuhausen I love u man (no homo), YOU TELL HIM!!!!
GermanyFan01 damn youre a hardass.
Glad I live in America, to see this show of stupidity in 3D, besides, what's wrong with telling the truth, the whole world knows America can't comprehend it
GermanyFan01
Were you born in the USA?
Sweet! June 2 is my birthday, Great Match Too, Me and my friends watched this at night lol
When you said Italy didn't play with heart, that is something you will never catch the Americans playing without. Every American plays with a lot of heart and the #1 aspiration for American players is to represent the national team. Also considering that the rest of the world calls us "the joke of football" it really adds another level of heart for them. We may not be an elite team but we do have the heart :)
Random question, did Giusseppe Rossi get called back to Italy yet after his injury?
I'm back for one reason, Rematch June 10th in Germany
Should be a good game we also look forward too
Why are the world champions looking forward to a friendly with a nobody like the US?
Ebeneezer stark because there are some Germans in the US Team
GermanyFan01 Good game. Glad nobody got hurt. Surprised we won when Germany had half of their starters in.
Matt Rhodes Half their starters on? I'd say there were less than half, playing with a formation that was never seen before
Germany's gonna look for revenge. plus Draxler is gonna kick our asses. he's really good. also, Gotze, Muller, Gomez are gonna put a lot of pressure on our defense, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, are gonna make a solid midfield. And Schurrle, Mertesacker, and Lahm are gonna give our offense problems. But we will fight to the best of our abilities. i expect a fair close match.
I'm as USA homer as it gets, but we are losing that game 3-1, if not worse.
Wesley Coats there was a WC last year?
Wesley Coats are you referring to the Euro's, in which Spain won? I'm confused, I don't know when Spain ever lost in the group stages...
***** Haha I'd love that! But I want three of our players to score so I'd rather it be 3-0 ;) Donovan, Dempsey and Green are who I want to score.
He's a contender for our RB spot for sure, he used to be our number one guy until he got injured. Many are predicting he's going to Brazil.
Dempsey is a kickass scorer.
This isn't the original German team
+TheDavidCraft 99 // TDC99 So what. They lost. Live with it
+Dalton Morgan I know I am just saying
Tobozoff Foztobo 4-2 is not a loss?
This was in 2013, why do you care in 2016?
This is the original team but whithout Neuer , Boateng , Gotze and hummels
It was the German B Team..
The A Team destroy the MNT
Salt
German C-Team versus USA A-Team
Cali Méro B team
Dempsey jogava muito!
1:53
PO
USA will not have a single chance to win against Germany's A team in WC.
Can't wait for the match hahaha:)
HAH
Are you saying Panama is trash? Lmao dumbass no team is trash. Is Mexico trash for you?
+Edison Verdugo yeah Panama does suck. Mexico has stepped up a lot the last couple years
+deadly mentality I'm pretty sure Panama and Mexico are pretty even
+Edison Verdugo nah Mexico has way better players. Not at an elite level but better
well i see that you are great football fan, and im happy that so many americans are moving towards the game, i understand that in the us football can never reach the popularity of american football or basketball but i think that it had made a lot and a lot of improvements, and future is looking bright for the us team
You have to keep in mind that even though this is your B-Team, your national team is #2 in the world. The guys running on your B-Team are easily on the level of some smaller teams like Russia, Ghana, Ecuador, and so on. Being able to match pace, or at the very least surprise them long enough to clinch a win like this is very promising for those of us supporting a team that has been languishing miserably before the last decade.
germany had a B team while USA were a full squad ,,,do it while germany have a full squad then come talk
poland2010 Yeah it’s called 2015
USA vs Germany's 3rd squad
A win is a Win, U.S. can put up if a fight with a proper European team, thing is the competition here isn't as Hard. Mexico? LOL Come on... Be real.
ObeyTriickShotz I mean if you have to bring back the past for something I said then you must be quite butt hurt there babi boi, don't get hit with that #yeadoe thou lol
well mexico did better than the usa x
>Proper European Team
>isn't as Hard
>MNT is not superior to Mexico's team in any which way
>Wins 4-3 in a friendly game against a b (or c) team
Only USA Soccer fans would count a 1-0 loss against Germany as a success, so I can understand why you found this match to be important.
blaze46waffle Stop.
Amazing Victory!! 🇺🇸
Even scoring: /watch?v=3Hp2E6DdIvk
He's definitely a fan favorite here in the USA haha.
How did you tie Ghana 2-2 when we beat them?
And why u commenting shit on here if u watched the video we won x)
African teams don't suck. Every team has that one type of weakness, ours just happens to be Africans. Big Deal. We beat Portugal 4-0, tied Ghana 2-2, u guys got lucky to win 2-1, I just feel u guys needed that to feel happy, then tied Portugal 2-2, in the last 40 secs. Like u said, ur D needs help, so does ours, but remember, we went toe to toe with Ghana and tied, u guys never beat Ghana by doing so, oh and what injuries do we have? I just have to say, I think ur guys' hype is 4 years to early, that's all
GermanyFan01
If you run up the score on us Ozil knee? Bye bye. Mueller knee and ankle? Bye Bye. You keeper will get it too. We give zero fucks about fair play. Fuck us up and lose your stars. We can both escape the group or we will attack your players. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
Fell apart too early, still had 30" left in extra time, and Portugal ran a break on us
Lmao germany wasnt even trying. This is like germany b playing. Wheres lahm, schweinstieger, gotze, reus, kroos, klose, boateng, ozil, neur the fuk did i just watch
Dude, this wan't even their B-team lol
this was like thier C-team
lol yeah
germanys star players would have wrecked
lol man the us have a sucky soccer team all there players are oldies haha
Any win against a football powerhouse like Germany is great
I'm from England and as much as I hate too say it America is a rising power in football and everyone is gonna have to deal with that.
Show some respect, mate
-Cheers from England
Bro that’s MATS at goal? His bounce back from this must have been amazing for him to be Barca’s numero uno
Since I have to play nice now... Gosh golly, it was a fun competition to watch. All of us wish the very best to both teams. Good clean fun!
Amen, thanks.
Just a warm up game for our B-Team there lol
I'm looking forward for our game in the Would Cup, will be a good game.
Delcio, I can't reply to you but you have two excellent points.
Ian Darke is an awesome announcer. He does all the US games. USA wore their Centennial jerseys so Germany had to wear their green alternate kits.
There B and C team are still amazing.
This was the US B or C team as well so it was pretty even matchup.
Not to know what is going to happen is so much more exiting. There are games like Basketball where,if you already made alot of points and the other team is too far behind, you know that the other team that is too much behind can't
I brought up Steven Gerundolo because he's been playing in the Bundesliga for a very long time now.:)
Can't believe the U.S. Men's just gave 3 goals up like that👌
Oh that would be nice! Yeah he seems like he's pretty talented and it would be cool to see him on a big team. So who are the young players that you think could be superstars in the Bundesliga youth academies?
It's not only youth players, but benched ones too. Mertesaker doesn't start in other Germany matches
Now I've spent days discussing with you guys and I'm starting to understand your pov. It's ok to be happy for the team as long as it isn't getting overboard.Sry for my crappy English.:D
it would've been nice to see some of their stars out there and it would've been a better test for our national team as well.
Actually yeah we Americans do talk about him quite a bit. He's a pretty popular player among the fans who know about youth players. I hear he's doing quite well!
You don't know what you're talking about, USA has had a huge pool of soccer players since the 80s (and also before the decline in the 60s).
Thanks bro. I almost clicked it just out of curiosity.
I like this match a lot
and just so you know, I saw quite a few comments today and yesterday, after the United States' epic win which saved Mexico's WC chances, regarding Jurgen Klinsmann.
Germany used a back-up squad.
Much respect for there youth development
It was historic because it was the 100th anniversary for US soccer (even though we only had a league about 20 years).
Thank you on your sentiments :)
Among the youth, soccer actually is pretty popular now.
He didn't reveal which league, but he's presumably English because he put Bale on CR7 and Messi's level ;)
Anyways, he scouted USA's Agudelo (20) and essentially said that there is a star in there, but due to his immaturity we don't know how he'll develop.
It doesn't matter if this was a B Germany team they still had amazing players such as draxler, max Kruse, and bender all play first team football in the bundesliga so this was a major success for this US side
excellent game
Ter Stegen has lots of potential. he's still a young GK
believe me belgium is not only lukaku company and hazard, but they have players like vermaelen, felaini, vam buyten, de bruyne and escpecialy mertens this guy is playing with napoli right now and he is doing great, but i think that it will be a world cup of surprises, countries like belgium, colombia and others have close a lot towards the usual favourites, the us is a good team and if they say that you are a joke is because they hate your country not the team
Brother, we're friends now. Now keep sending us that great beer!!
U21 Keeper, Missing Gomez, Lahm, Neuer, Hummels, please continue who else we are missing.
But entertaining
