also diesel engine oil is not as slippery as car oil. you'll often find certifications on diesel engine oil cans certifying it for use with motorcycle oil bath clutches.

Yes it does, i'm sure an additive that is meant for it is better. My father used to put it with his diesel in the winter, probably because it's cheaper then a propper additive.

My question is. Why won't they add this to the fuel while they refine the diesel fuel at the refineries? I've used this for my service truck at work it does work when it's freezing. Another good product that works cleaning Diesel injectors is Hotshot secrete into the fuel. One bottle treats up to 80 gallons of fuel.
It is all about cost but and also you need FDA approval I am sure which takes time and probably costs a lot as well. But I def agree!

Another benefit is bacterial growth control. Bacteria will not grow in diesel fuel, but it will grow in the water at the bottom of your fuel tank if you forget/can't drain it out.

The primary reason why diesel engines are hard to start is they are compression ignition. To achieve that they need heat.

Cetane is the octane equivalent for diesel, right?
It's similar but not an exact equivalent, octane is resistance to ignition and cetane is how easily (or how fast) diesel ignites
