"TH-cam horror reviewer talking about horror ARG" being part of a horror ARG is one of the best meta twists I've ever seen omg
Agreed, it was done so well.
This is why I shouldn’t be scrolling through comments while watching a youtube video 😭 (i accidentally spoiled the immersion for myself with your comment 💔)
Something I’ve thought about in the past though not specifically Minecraft and also not necessarily just a single arg either they’d review several nonexistent ones that come together to form a greater whole or several existing ones but have them diverge from their real counterparts to achieve the same

for a flytrap to close, it has to be triggered twice.
once closed it needs the insect to panic and move more to make sure it really caught something.

Yeah like, do we know for sure if these lights even do anything if they touch you? further more, if the main idea is misdirection, fear is a good way to do that. Perhaps if one just bravely stands there.

Sticks is a very satisfyingly competent horror protagonist, not something you see too often in horror media. the boat-clutch in complete darkness, the idea to hide from the lights in a redstone contraption, the nether portal... gotta give him some props

My only gripe with him so far is that around halfway through the vid as he’s following the signs he completely forgets what he just said about misdirection. He doesn’t know aqer placed them and he completely ignored everything else. At one point there’s a flash of light somewhat far from him and he doesn’t even notice. He also wastes tool durability mining dirt with an axe
I can imagine bedrock.zip speedruns being ruined by bad wall rng. 'Everything was going well until the walls didn't give the most efficient pattern and i was stuck going through another hallway for another # seconds which robbed me of my world record."
NAHHHHH
For those interested, the illustration at 50:24 is one of Gustave Dore's woodcut illustrations for Dante's Divine Comedy. It depicts the very beginning of the Inferno, where Dante is attempting to ascend a mountain but is turned back by a Leopard (then a lion, then a wolf, not depicted) and is at that point forced to 'detour' through hell, which sets up the whole poem. Makes sense to be there, seeing as Sticks had just made the portal to the nether.
and also the guy named sticks (styx) uses boats for everything, so yeah, 14th century bible fanfiction references abound.
@@G-Cole-01 good catch, i didnt even think of that. aqer is another reference to underworld rivers, acheron being the entrance to the underworld, or charon being the one who ferries souls to the land of the dead. considering aqer has enabled both zeemyth and sticks to enter the world file, the parallels are pretty on the nose.
Ok so, we have:
Sticks, which is a homonym for Styx, a River in hades, who uses boats and water to get into the nether (basically hell)
References to Sisyphus.
Aqer (Acheron), another river in hades.
References to Dante’s Inferno.
And chthonic, cyclopean architecture made entirely of the deepest stone in the game.
I thinks it’s clear that we’re in hell, or at least some sorta underworld.
Stick Inferno.

Thoughts:
-The lights, which for thematic consistancy I will refer to as minotaurs, are acted upon but notspoken of.
-Bedrock is an indicator of non plus ultra. nothing more beyond. go no further.
-The world takes pieces from those that seek it
-What are the minotaurs? Are they servants of the world or extensions of it.
-The world presents resistance to those that seek it while providing resources with which to overcome. It wants people to find it.
-Something about preservation, taking pieces and freezing them in unbreakable bedrock.
-Does aquer serve it willingly or is it a matter of direct control?
Really love the parallels to Sisyphus and how whenever Sticks gets close to answers he ends up in some sort of hole to climb out of yet again. Sometimes he willfully goes down only to realize he needs to go back up
Sicksyphus.
he just. keeps. falling.
Not seeing many people talk about this but at 25:35 Aqer joins at the exact time that Sticks is about to investigate deeper into one of the buildings. And is then lead on a wild goose chase around to put him further off the path. As he said, misdirection.

The repeated themes of "The Flytrap" gave me a sorta Jimmy Neutron 'brain blast' moment. As I recalled reading something a long time ago as a child, having discovered such thing in middle school.. I believe. The "Dionaea House". A living impossible space, in multiple locations at once, accessible to many beings despite not directly interacting. An impossible trap, a *hungry* trap. Designed to keep you trapped for as *long as possible.*
I know it says it's inspired by the House of Leaves, but I can't help but draw connections.

As Sticks approaches the pyramid and walks into the flytrap room (7:48) Zeemyth starts to punch the air, almost as if he's trying to warn Sticks not to go in.
When the light appears down the hallway during the Minostaur section (11:50), Sticks appears to log onto the server, even though he's already online.

(to those who remember me from flytrap welcome back)
as soon as Stick (minecraft username: Sticks25) starts to dive in to the mystery: "the flytrap" video starts playing behind the main footage: this can be seen throughout the video until the event of 21:05 (look below).
21:05 - a popup of a picture of a bedrock island and an unknown person/entity is on it;
subsequently there are many of these popups with words on it, showing the word STICKS.
21:36 - a bunch of variations of the popups show with various other words and images, those words being:
- STONES (a person? (probably Stick) looking up against a bedrock wall)
- VEILS (a person (probably Stick) looking towards a gap in the wall, crouching)
- RIVERS (an unknown person (clearly because of their skin) crouching and looking towards a red light on a bridge)
- STILL (unknown, might need to brighten the image)
- WATER (unknown, might need to brighten the image)
- STILL (pic of Stick crouching from the back)
FROM 21:43 onwards:
the secret video "the flytrap" is played in the back ontop of Stick's video,
i.e. the translucent trapdoor is seen when he enters the main base (in the flytrap video, zeemyth pulls out the trapdoor at 22:47, meaning that this was deliberately edited in the video as we're +-30 seconds behind in this current video)
22:29 - the chatlog opens on the flytrap video (in the flytrap video the timestamp for this is 23:10): where he types "things keep freezing"
22:54 - the chatlog opens once again on the flytrap video (timestamp for this in the flytrap video is 23:36): where he types "noises get louder"
with these two instances of zeemyth using chat: it seems like the flytrap video is ahead of the main video by 41/42 seconds.
--------------------------
somewhere between 24:04 to 24:06, the chatlogs open once again with a message: take my ears and burn them in the river (probably philosophical or related to the noises)
25:35 - Aqer joins (!!!!!!!) as Sticks enters the bedrock box. weirdly, it gets foggier, and it's yellow fog too). as he mines down, it turns green?????
25:47 to 26:26 (39 seconds)- the glowing open doorway is seen seeping into the video
26:55 - sign that says:
> there 1
> 2
> 3
> 4
followed by a sign that says:
" are "
followed by ANOTHER sign that says:
" places "
27:15 - shows us coming across a sign that says: that
27:21 - sign that says: you
27:30 - sign that says: just
27:36 - somehow teleports? or edited, to this part of the map and has a sign that says: shouldnt
27:43 - sign that says: be.
coherent sentence using the signs: there are places that you just shouldnt be. (in? lmao)
27:46 - sign that says: not
27:53 - sign that says: you.
28:03 - sign that says: but
28:06 - sign that says: your
28:11 - sign that says: footprint
28:13 to 28:17 - "your" "8"
28:19 - "billion"
28:23 - "pieced"
28:25 - the flytrap video's chatlogs open up once again (timestamp in video: 28:59 when he was reacting to a long freeze): saying "wtf"
28:27 - empty sign (i brightened the image)
28:36 - signs that say (from nearest to furthest): "in" "still" "sand"
28:47 - sign: "still,"
28:56 - sign that says:
> send
> ^
> ^
> ^
29:05 - flytrap chatlogs open (timestamp 29:45 in the video, insanity starts): saying "if there were water..." (check the flytrap video)
29:59 - the narrative shifts; Sticks is punched off, and the video cuts to the background video of flytrap. "i might have an idea..", then cuts back.
that's the first 30 minutes. i'll try to add more when i have time. adios for now :)
in the time stamps i the desc with the listed songs, Bully by Ezco, has a highlighted time stamp of 10:52 which has our protagonist "Sticks" placing a sign and saying "With a strong message sent, all I could do was keep chipping away at my "Sysiphusient" task". It then fades out and into a clip of Zeemyth falling in the "Flytrap" video. Idk if ur familiar with the story of Sysiphus but he basically cheated death and his punishment was to forever roll a boulder up a cliff. This may be a poke at that maybe Sticks is descending into madness over this search for an answer, it's consuming him and driving him mad. Also, 10:52 is the only highlighted timestamp in the whole list of songs in that section in the description. All other pointed timestamps have a period "." instead of a colon ":". This might be put there for a viewer to be able to see this.
Or it's just a mistake and im diving way too deep into this and it means nothing. But it's just so perfectly put there so i had to say something.

the idea of a piece of architecture using people's curiosity to lure them in, acting as a kind of venus fly trap is so cool. i just finished watching for the first time and haven't done any sort of real analysis yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but i feel like there's no big secret actually hidden under the red arch. all of the clues, all of the things drawing people in are like the sweet scent of sugar coating strips of paper. they go through, and then they disappear, and leave behind a mystery that some poor soul just can't help but want to solve. adore your videos, man. so many cool ideas here, and great execution. there's so much clear effort and thought put into this series, as well as love for the genre. big shoutout to fucked up minecraft locations.
This reminds me one theory about the House of Leaves (one of the inspirations of Bedrock.Zip). This theory says the House doesn't doesn't have anything of special, except the Unknown. And, since there is nothing inside the house, it uses actually imagination and curiosity of anyone who entered through a certain hall to build rooms and events, with the goal of keeping its victims inside its walls for a very long moment. And since the place is nonsensical (with the non-euclidean geometry, the ambient darkness, etc...) and since the Unknown is beyond any knowledge, it makes its victims wondering more about what actually it hides (and like this, the House generates more rooms again and again because, there is currently nothing).
Seeing the parkour tower appear was fucking nuts. I also really liked that section underground with all the huge pillars, reminds me of the foundation from CONTROL!
FAVORITE COMMENT!!! AND WE ARE BEING LURED IN BY THE MYSTERY OF THIS VIDEO!!!!
@@machtalaterrouge Is that a theory? Seems more like text than subtext to me. I'm currently reading House of Leaves and so far like three separate characters have railed about how the House's labyrinth is a Nothing-place, a void that devours not for a purpose but because it can, rambling off in random directions with increasingly bizarre shapes because, for some forsaken reason, we think it SHOULD. Heck, the first couple of pages are filled with various warnings against curiosity for curiosity's sake, against digging too deeply and scratching the surface too hard. The first encounters with [REDACTED FOR FUTURE READERS] heavily suggest that it's being actively created by fear of the unknown.
In short: the House doesn't exist. By existing in it, we force it to become. Once it has begun, once it has tasted of existence, it cannot abide nonexistence any longer. It craves existence no matter how much it hurts and will do whatever it takes to retain it. You.
Now
If you're actually referring to the part in the book where Old Man Zampano describes the Navidson Record and analyzes the House as containing Nothing but the Unknown... I apologize. You're absolutely right that that's the running in-universe theory.

The worldbuilding is some of the strongest most immersive out of any Minecraft ARG out there, the visuals are absolutely stunning just like last time, the horror is top notch and I spent the entire video wondering "How did they pull this off?"
Sticks is an extremely well made character, he's exactly how any of us who watched the first video would percieve the mystery, skeptical at first, always pointing out the tiniest little details and trying to prove to ourselves that we know better, but as he swims further below he starts to drown, so desperate to find answers that he gets caught in his own flytrap.
This is, no doubt, a horror masterpiece in the genre, and it deserves nothing less than praise.
Love how you took the inconsistencies and plotholes from the previous video (intentional or not, idk) and used them as plot points for this one. I was invested the whole way through!
Some of them were which was such a pain to hide but there were def some genuine fumbles
i like to think that the white door breaks down the people that tries to find it then rebuild them to how it sees fit, i also like how sticks commisioned for a flashlight instead of using full bright
Beautiful. Commands betraying you, bedrock everywhere, random damage, exploits/glitches about bedrock (which already felt wrong), hopeless parkour jumps, skyblock imagery... Minecraft in ANY depiction has never felt more hostile.
That skyblock clip near the end and the music played through that whole scene (and other tracks too) were just incredible touches and fantastic choices for the immersion tbh. Amazing work with this entire video!
At 17:35, background zeemyth typed "/say this is" and sticks says the word "this is"
i'd like to add that while this one's a lot less direct compared to what you pointed out, at around 21:00, zeemyth types "what was that wtf", and just seconds later sticks gets those odd popups
During the pop-ups (towards the end) zeemith types "I feel colder too."
yeah i saw that to
when sticks is saying how zeemyth had an advantage, zeemeth types in chat "fu"
i'm not the only one who noticed?
"How could a Minecraft world ever possibly be frightening?" as soon as you stepped into the preasure plate an ad pops out....
A fate worse than Bedrock.Zip
The game:wholesome relaxing fun even
The fandom:
I absolutely love this format, it is an ARG that feels like a movie or a theater, there's flaws like the experience it's not as immersive as a classic ARG, but it leads to more potential in storytelling.
10/10 series, the best one i've seen, i can't wait for the next part.
Yeah there’s def sacrifices with making it movie like but it’s just such a good time so it’s worth it
we've asked "what happens when a hhouse gets sick" but now I want to know, what happens when a world gets sick?
it rots
Wood and Sticks Rot...
But Bedrock...
Bedrock is eternal...
When a world is ill, its wardens listen: with a glow eternal, and heart beat arrythmic. You can hear this worlds pulse, its shuddering breath. Wardens turned hostile, the immune system reflects. The player, the invader, the system assaulting in every measure, it listens and adapts, outside tools providing clues, a flashlight from physics creates moving parts, all of this performed with a single, dying, heart.

lots of "House of Leaves" inspired stuff lately, this, the "MyHouse.Wad" DOOM arg thing (Idk if ARG is the right word for that one in particular but whatever lol)
The doors the doors the doors
One of the chapters is titled "Ash Tree Dim," like the house 's ash tree lane
i am never gonna be able to listen to change (in the house of flies) the same way again. the way you told it, the perspective of story telling, narration while also in context like you're experiencing the sight for the first time. the way your movement gets more frantic, more anxious the longer it goes on makes it feel, real.
you sir, are amazing.
you have made an absolute masterpiece.
This is such a cool arg
The whole file, Bedrock.Zip, reminds me of "Blame!", like if you asked an AI to build a house with only bedrock and gave it only the most basic idea of a house with no restrictions. And the lamp eye face thing? That's creepy. I already got PTSD from the projector head from BATIM, this is that jacked to the max. If it's even possible, I'm begging you to make this a world for people to play and try their own crack at. I wanna play this!
Actually so cool that it feels that way 🥲
the thing i love about the bedrock.zip video is that the video zeemyth finds at the start is an exact replica of what he does at the end

Okay yall. I think I found something. At 50:21 the image that’s being highlighted is an illustration of The Panther from Dante’s Divine Comedy, art by Gustave Dore. TLDR: The panther is one of 3 beasts that prevent Dante from returning to the path or righteousness, instead driving him further into darkness. It’s thought that the Panther represents greed, avarice, or fraud. Below I’ve attached a quote from professor Guy Raffa on the topic, but be aware that interpretations vary.
“The uncertain symbolism of the three beasts--a leopard (or some other lithe, spotted animal), a lion, and a she-wolf--contributes to the shadowy atmosphere of the opening scene. Armed with information from later episodes, commentators often view the creatures as symbols, respectively, of the three major divisions of Dante's hell: concupiscence (immoderate desires), violence, and fraud (though some equate the leopard with fraud and the she-wolf with concupiscence). Others associate them with envy, pride, and avarice. Perhaps they carry some political meaning as well (a she-wolf nursed the legendary founders of Rome--Romulus and Remus--and thus came to stand as a symbol of the city). Whatever his conception, Dante likely drew inspiration for the beasts from this biblical passage prophesying the destruction of those who refuse to repent for their iniquities: "Wherefore a lion out of the wood hath slain them, a wolf in the evening hath spoiled them, a leopard watcheth for their cities: every one that shall go out thence shall be taken, because their transgressions are multiplied, their rebellions strengthened" (Jeremiah 5:6)”
Something interesting about aqer's base is, despite the base obviously being recently occupied, by aqer, the ladders are in a pre release or early release formation due to a bug, which i might be overthinking, but that might mean something, i also have an additional theory in which i think maybe the cones of light that periodically show up are simply alternate versions of sticks himself.
I love how sticks basically starts the video being all like “a flytrap usually means something that gives the idea of something valuable but it’s merely a trap to lure and eat/kill its prey and that map is probably somehow hungry” before immediately switching to “I NEED to see what’s beyond that glowing door in the haunted Minecraft map”.
Anyways off to go watch the entirety of flytrap to achieve the illusion of a coherent answer to the narrative and spiral deeper into madness as I fail to do the impossible
Edit: figured I should also give my brief theory on what’s going on. But the flytrap connection is pretty on the nose. This map is some sort of parasite within the world on Minecraft (potentially memetic). It has some ability to affect the other worlds but its main domain is bedrock.zip. What it does is that it creates a mystery, leaving weird clues in someone’s world that lead them to trying out the map to try and solve it. Then eventually it leads the player deep enough inside that it eventually consumes the player (maybe even trapping them inside of Minecraft itself) but the player is left as a puppet. Bedrock then uses its puppet to create a new mystery about its world on an online forum which then attracts new prey allowing for the cycle to endlessly repeat. By searching for an answer you’ve already lost. It seems Yuri tried talking about this point with potentially starting to say that just because you can go somewhere doesn’t mean you should and that somethings are just better left as mysteries.
I feel like I can finally start properly understanding the story now by reading this lol
I never thought of it that way....
Zeemyth and sticks also have a strange.. connection ig. Zeemyth will sometimes directly reply to statements made about him in this video, as he's become aware of everything all at once. When Sticks says something about Zeemyth's dive being pure luck, Zeemyth types "fu" (fuck you), and Zeemyth even types out "/say this is", immediately followed by sticks saying those words exactly, and then pausing because he can't think of anything for a second. Also, the most damning evidence is Z and S practically having a damn conversation when talking about how cold they feel.
At about 28:26, in the bottom left, zeemyth's whole chatlog becomes visible. he then starts spamming "and water". Later, he says, /give sticks dirt.
He also says lots of other things at different times, even predicting what was about to happen seconds before it does
Zeemyth continues to use /give, causing sticks to be flung. Somehow, they are interacting. My theory? Zeemyth might never have left.
@@AidenWilliams-xc9jo bro sticks was typing in the commands you goober

Perfect. Most digital horrors that use youtube as its canonical device that try and show those who try and investigate it are obvious to be a part of the world. This, thankfully, immerses you to a point where you forget this analysis is a part of the creator's channel, and you get surprised by such a reveal. And the music. The music is not just the suger on the cream, its a whole new layer on the cake. Amazing work, one of the most underrated channels ive seen.
But what Sticks doesn't Realize is that he was in the Flytrap's Maw the whole time.
He says he is but ignores it
Is it me or does the roof looks like a Venus fly traps head???
He didn't realize that the moment he began going angry for clues, the flytrap began closing on him, holy mother of god, i love this

If this ever gets continued with more "perspectives," I feel like a modder would be a good protagonist.
They decide they're less interested in exploring the world, and focus moreso on installing mods that are meant to test the limits of this "sentient" world before decompiling the data itself and exploring THAT.

@@Zeemyth Left question
There are so many cuts throughout the video. If he wanted us to not see that he could’ve.
This world is clearly portrayed as being alive. Could it even be… turing complete?
Good question.
This was gas, I've never had a youtube video ever capture my interest like this before, one of the best ARGs I have ever had the pleasure of watching imo
Props to the people behind this. When I heard the classic "the world is alive," I rolled my eyes a little, but it really is a lot more intriguing than that little cliche. My cursory interpretation is this: Minecraft is turing complete. A computer can be built inside with logic gates and algorithms. If a computer could be built in Minecraft, could we make it think? Could we simulate intelligence, or more, create it? That seems like the wrong question. More importantly, would it love us? Would it lead us on thrilling chases, fascinating mysteries, and dark corridors? Or would it hate us? Hate what we made it; a playground for us, the parkour background of shitty tiktoks, or the setting for poorly written args. Would it taunt us with immutable bedrock mockeries of our worlds, trap us in frustrating and terrifying labyrinths that our own nature would not let us escape, and hold the truth just out of reach like Tantalus's fruit? The correct question is not who leaves the sign, what lies behind the doors, what is the spotlight, or who created bedrock.zip. The right question is why it was created. And that will determine if we should stop.
I wish you luck in future videos, and Ill be right there to puzzle over them.
Very glad I changed your mind :) this is also a great analysis

There are so many themes and quirks about this video that have me constantly on the edge of my seat. The fear of the unknown, the themes of Zee in the past. Looping fall, and looping tunnels that could be from the use of clever command blocks *or* liminal portals. The portion where Zee typed "Say This is" only to then hear Sticks say 'This is" had me going back a few times to listen to it again. The idea that a recording could influence the future, either subconsciously or completely is a pretty great idea that I don't think I've ever seen before. And I think the only thing that would be even better, aside from the subtle similarities between the recordings' trapdoor slowly lining up with the Games' trapdoor. Would likely be if the actions, words, and interactions of the player *currently* interacting with the world, somehow were to affect the actions, words, and interactions of the player *recorded* from the Flytrap.

I love how this video is made, and I love how in these types of videos you can look at every tiny detail and wonder if its part of the overall experience, or if its just a random mistake.
For example I think it was the in the Ashtree Dim section theres a second or two when a Steam notification saying "Good Question is playing Turing Complete" where the name Good Question could relate to the video, or I could be making random connections, the game Turing Complete is about using coding for GPUs to solve puzzles, which could be a reference to how Sticks uses his own methods to solve the puzzles.
This might be, no joke, my favorite minecraft video on the platform.
The first bedrock.zip was already pretty good, and it kept me glued to my screen the entire time. What I really liked about that video was the exploration aspect, really felt like discovering some strange and alien location alongside you. This video doubles down on the exploration angle even more than the first one it feels, which I enjoy greatly.
This type of video, the "house of leaves feels" kind, are pretty rarely well done, and horror in minecraft is especially fickle when it comes to quality. They'll usually go very well and then faceplant in the middle, but this video avoids the pitfall (mainly by not having random obnoxious jumpscares). It's a bit hard to describe in detail what I like specifically about the video, the words do not come to me, but that's also something I enjoy about it, it's a very specific feeling that has been conveyed perfectly.
im a huge fan of how "curated" bz1 is compared to bz2, bz2 is almost messy at times, and especially with how sticks breaks walls with boats it feels like you've clipped out of where you're meant to be even more

The flytrap running commands and text in the background is so interesting.
This feels like a fever dream. More people need to learn from you dude! Absolute masterpiece!!
I dont know if it was on purpose, but it was a small detail I noticed, whenever sticks starts holding a trapdoor during THE MAZE at about 35:16, the same thing Zeemyth is holding, that is when things start going weird and the strange "Minotaur" or "Watcher" Things get revealed.
15:53 Zeemyth types in idek as Sticks says "I Dont Even Know"
infinite challenges of the infinite bedrock, there is no escape but a horror.
This video step closer to meta breaking by our protagonist attempting to use command and the bedrock response in the resistance. Love this stuff, hope there’s more step in the next video! since the mod is working, he could try using datapack/mod/texture pack/shader to get advantage and the bedrock could respond in many creative ways!
maybe using a mod where it is possible to break bedrock with a pickaxe made by himself.
Now that I think about it, remember when Sticks talked about the flashlight the first time? He said it was part of a *physics* and lighting mod.
Look at Ashtree Dim. That's not normal block behavior, even with command blacks to shift things around when ur not looking.
Bedrock *Was* using the mod against him. Sticks was so focused on being able to see with the flashlight, he accidentally gave Bedrock another way to mess with him (and more).
There is only more to find it goes on for generations -Infinite Dimensions
so wait there is more to come? i better hit the bell then
This is insanity in the best way possible. I stumbled upon this vid randomly, started watching it and then just binged it in one sitting haha
It’s really cool :)
And the music is not only fitting but just awesome in general 🔥🔥🔥
This showed up in my recommended. I have no idea what is going on or what the background of it is. But it is giving me ideas for the cosmic horror stories I write.
This is so good man. I love the fly trap imagery! Waiting for flies, like Sticks, into their impending doom. I think Sticks still going in despite knowing what kind of doom awaits him makes him more of a fly, like he describe "irresitible nectar", he's a shit stirrer, smug and prideful. I love the contrast of his character to zeemyth! It was an odd thing for his character to suddenly talk about "worthiness" of going through the door of light, and how "its so much bigger than us". Im guessing that's the fly trap's effect
Who else wants Zeemyth to put fly trap in public and not private (not like baiting or comment baiting)
It’s unlisted, public would tank my channel ahahhaha

If it was me, i would have broken the sign and placed it down and said "this world is not for you either"
