How to make a Minecraft creepy pasta/ mystery:
1. Play on an old version of Minecraft
2. Record on low quality and at 5 fps
3. Set your render distance really low
4. Add random creepy noises
5. cut out the parts where you build stuff so that it mysteriously appears
6. cut out the parts where you travel so it looks like you teleported
7. forget about inventory management so it changes between cuts adding to the mystery
8. add fake bluescreens that bandicam wouldn't be able to capture, don't think about it too much
9. make a different yt account and analyze your mysteries for the clicks

I'm so fascinated with Alpha Minecraft.
It has a like a strange vibe of mistery, unknown, and uncanny sometimes.
It felt like a much more realistic game tbh
It's not like we can't make creepypastas with current versions of Minecraft, it's just that Alpha Minecraft has a......Nostalgic feeling to it.

@SearchingThingsOfficial not really? it's a very recent phenomenon to consider old minecraft inherently scary. it all depends on what you do in the game. it's as scary as you make it and the args and unfiction series don't really do a good job at it.

This arg is the only good one with an administrative space, because it was not high tech but more of worlds of diff versions (gateways to the versions) being connected to the administrative space in which anyone could come in your world, it would be creepy if some random person would be on your world, not like mark101 which was ruined due to the high tech factor, but it would be better to not call it administrative space, just give it no name, like seeing those versions of diff worlds in AS was pretty creepy ngl.

The ghost story aspect of old Minecraft is one thing, but I don't understand the fascination the ARG community has with this idea of Mojang running a top secret magic ingame admin server that connects two ways to everyone's singleplayer world. I'd genuinely sooner believe the game was haunted.
I think it actually may be the impossibility of it that's appealing? Like that ARG with camera blocks that link to player's worlds. Possible? Not at all, but actually kind of a conceptually interesting look into a sort of parallel universe where that _is_ possible. I think it's more of a fascination with the what if

To expand upon that, many people are exploring the same concept at slightly different angles, doing their own take on what I would say is an art trend. That art trend rn is oooh spooky Minecraft dimension. I think it's fun that a bunch of (probably) young adults and teenagers are collectively exploring their nostalgia in this way. it's a bit of a zafir for the community at the moment, which kinda happens in small communities. I think you see a lot of repetitive ideas used early on into an art form's development with not a whole lot of unique innovation, so I feel it's probably just a sign that the community is small, refining it's tools, and may well not hit a technical, emotional and intellectual stride for at least another half decade as the artists in the medium mature and new ones are brought in with new skillsets. I think the bright side to the repetition we're seeing now is that if the community is successful in building a core of dedicated artists refining their skills, we'll see an explosion of creativity in the community. On the other hand, the community could just fizzle out entirely if there's not more innovation to bring in new people who will be inspired to contribute more to the scene.
That's just my conjecture, though.

the thing that REALLY throws me off about this arg is the bandicam logo. that logo was made in 2017 while all the videos take place around 2010. the original meme bandicam logo was made in 2009, when the recording software was released to the public. other than that, it seems interesting

You literally can’t record a BSOD without like a capture card, so this ARG is pretty sloppy. Even looking over all of the minor oversights like the inventory or hotbar changing when leaving and rejoining, it has mistakes.
Favorite part is how whenever the person recordings the alpha footage get scared, they instantly leave instead of doing the classic tropes of exploreing, adds a really nice touch of realism.

I once encountered a bunch of redstone torches placed randomly around in a plains biome while I was playing bedrock. Nothing creepy happened though.
Also yeah found similar things that were really weird such as bedrock holes and ghost entities griefing my base. I played on it with friends but it was w world and We were always at the base and it blew up while we werent online. I still have constant reminders of that as some worlds on that pc still have weird occurances
Same. I was in a server with my friends and we saw redstone torches everywhere. We got scared created a new server, played on that, than 2 hackers joined us and the friend that opened the server never opened a server again.

I have seen Minecraft Alpha 1.0.16 versions. enough times to know for sure that. Minecraft Alpha versions have a lot of scary stories and anomalies around them.

Early Minecraft had a real eerie vibe to it, no wonder people started to come up with creepy stories in it. The OG Herobrine pranks were something to behold, the forum post and especially the creepy interrupted stream. The guys behind the latter later admitted to faking all about it, but the story ran so wild some people still believe Herobrine was actually in the game back then.

this requires actual thought from RGN, not like telling a story that already exists. all we can do is give feedback on these videos, and go rewatch the deep dives. He will see a spike in the deep dive videos and want to make another, just for his viewers. if you really want one, make 10,000 bots to go rewatch the deep dives.

So, I'm pretty sure Retro has explained the deep dives situation a while ago in his discord server. I will try to recall it, but it may not be accurate, so you are always free to join his server and ask him yourself.
If I remember, there were two reasons why he has been slowing down with the deep dive content: 1) He has realized that he can't really make infinite deep dives on Minecraft, and I think he realized that this point is near as he feels like he's running out of source material. He said he may make one after every Minecraft update, but we shall see. 2) Opposed to what @totalsoupsloud has said, no, the recent deep dive videos have been performing way below standards. On March 3rd, he explained that out of his 10 most popular videos, not a single one is a deep dive anymore. Either his audience of this channel is changing and/or the algorithm is pushing viewers towards the MC ARG content and away from his Deep Dive videos. It becomes a choice to either put a lot of effort into a deep dive video and expect little benefit or put relatively less effort (some of these other videos may actually take MORE effort) to get a lot more benefit. The return on investment for his Deep Dive series has been declining unfortunately.
In regard to this video, he stated that he has been simultaneously working on another project that will take maybe a month or 2 before release. I do not know the exact details, but I'll just say you should stay tuned. This video came out relatively quick because of how non convoluted JohnGameLover as a series is. Just note that he's been recovering from an illness, so expect things to be delayed.
I do agree with your sentiment, while his analysis on these MC Webseries/ARG channels are top notch, even better than his youtuber peers by a long shot, I don't want him to become the "MC ARG guy". I do like his other content, like deep dives, icebergs, and his real-life mysteries videos, but the algorithm keeps pushing to these ARG videos. However he is experimenting, so I guess we shall wait to what he will decide. Stay tuned.

Maybe the teleporters are coordinate dependent and they only connect to their matching coords in the other world they link to. Maybe the teleporter built in room 617 was built by chance in the same coords as where John spawned in, so it happened to link up.
Imagine if the main character of these ARG's just stopped playing. =)

Man I love this genre of Minecraft mystery analyses. Even if they're obviously faked or if they go nowhere, it's still just fun to get immersed for a bit. Minecraft is so open ended, there's so much room for the creators of them to do interesting things.

While i know its not related to this video, i watched almost all your videos and found myself questioning what is a creeper, then during one of your videos i passed a comment that made an interesting suggestion. It was your disk video and the comment suggested that the creepers are actually spy tools created by rival ancient builder factions to spy on each other hence why they blow up, are camo colored, and spawn at night despite not burning in the day and why they are so sneaky. On the point of disks maybe the origin of the music disks was actually transcribed codes for the different factions and they had some technology that translated the song into the various things they observed. If we think of the skeleton as an ancient builder then maybe thats why only they know how to get the disks out of them. Theres still a bit of wiggle room to this theory and i again apologize for not bringing this up in a theory video comment section but those videos are several years old and i figured it would be easier to get the word out through the most recent video

There's two more of these videos. I'll break them down:
The title is called Friend recording (old). This takes place after the player is in the dark foggy world with anti-sound. The player begins to explore outside and mines iron ore with his pickaxe, collecting resources and goes back to his base. After fueling it into iron ingots, he crafts a lever. After waiting a few minutes, he goes back outside. Now all of a sudden, there's stars out. This is unusual and not normal for stars to randomly appear in the sky. After he observes it for a few, he checks his settings and changes his render distance to short. Looks like his render distance has turned to far without his knowledge. As he goes back to his base and gathers resources and tools, he goes back to the teleporter and is sent into a place where I can't make out, but similar to the stone room he was trapped in, and the video ends from there. Now the description below says of 4 parts.
Part 1: Design: Again a failure... I'm sure that if I can finalize this thing, I can install it by turning to HIM, but how will he react if HE is disturbed? Okay, not about that... Every time I make minimal changes to the design, it stops working altogether, or, as in the video, it moves the player to an unknown space, where either there is nothing at all, or there is a sign with unreadable text.
(Part 1 does state that the player teleports to an dark, unknown area and the video ends off that way.)
2nd part “Test”) Well, quite a lot of time has passed since my revision and now I’m ready to start the “Beta Test”, I’ll just send this world to friends around the world with a request to enter this structure. I hope everything goes well! Some will ask why I don't want to check it myself? And I will give a very simple answer - I DO NOT know what the consequences may be after I go there and stay there for a long time and in this situation it would be much wiser to endanger not myself but other less significant people. In truth, I only have one real friend and all the others are just my “Puppets” that I can manipulate as I want :-)
Part 3 “Complaints” Well, I conducted a 3-day beta test and came to the following conclusions: 1) 4 out of 10 people ended up in a dark room when teleporting. 1 of these 4 ended up in a room with a sign after a long stay in this room, some complained of a headache, and the “friend” who found himself in a room with a sign also complained of apathy. For 6 out of 10 people, the game simply closed without errors; however, upon restart, the small gray filter installed in the game was replaced. Something unusual happened to 1 in 10 people that I didn’t yet know about, or rather, he ended up in a very dark room with a sign, but the text was visible on it! The sign read: “Illusion is watching.” After reading “Friend,” he began to panic greatly and said that he would no longer participate in this and blocked me everywhere he could.
Part 4 “Conclusions” Well, I can say that I have made quite a lot of progress in this matter, but I am still not even close to completion. We need to work hard and improve the “mechanism”. After conducting an experiment on 10 people, we can conclude that teleporters can affect people in reality and cause at least this list of side effects: headache, apathy, insomnia. I think now you understand why I didn’t test this “mechanism” on myself.
Then the other video's title is Extremely Dark Experiences. As we see the player outside, he has equipment enough for a teleporter. After building it, he goes into it and teleports into a very strange room where there are torches and cobblestones everywhere, similar to the stone room, but bigger. As he explores, we can hear morse code play. Then he sees a sign says "someone can hear me" meaning someone else must've been here. He starts to panic to get outta the room and then the video ends. There was a dark hallway that he saw.
These 2 vids seem more creepy than the rest, but those aren't the only ones JohnGameLover had in store for us.
There was a community post he made of a picture of the player's hud slided to the left. If you look on left bottom, you can see that the water has an edge, as if the player was at the edge of his world. People say Herobrine is in the image if you look to the right, but the appearance looks very faint or it's not there at all. Possibly a teaser for the next vid, but this is the only community post that JohnGameLover had made.
