You collect even the modern stuff, huh? I have mo interest in Joe's after 1990. Even though there isn't many, the black characters are some of my faves. Stalker V2 is an excellent figure with awesome accessories. Both Roadblocks are cool, though I might prefer the second one more, and I love Iceberg too. 3 of my favorite figures.
My favorite character and figure I had as a kid and I would say he still is. I didn't read the comic books, but I always thought he was the toughest and strongest character after I saw him in the cartoon miniseries, Revenge of Cobra. As a young kid, I couldn't wait to find out how he would escape the vines when that episode ended. I treated those miniseries airing on T.V. like they were special events and loved that it became a series with new episodes every day. The foot on my figure broke (after a couple of years of good use), but I used super glue and it held up fine. I could barely see where the break occurred. Then the same foot broke again in a different place. At that point I put him in safe storage. I wasn't a fan of the second version and never got it. Leatherneck was my favorite new Joe that year and when I played I always had to have both he and Roadblock as the heroes. I just pretended Roadblock never changed his look.
It was great how you mentioned the tough guys at the end. Because a few months ago, I came up with the GI Joe Badass unit consisting of Beach Head, Sgt. Slaughter, Roadblock, Gung Ho, Outback, and Salvo. If anyone wants to add to the list, please do so.
Highly entertaining! And since I never had version one Roadblock, and all those excellent points you made about him, I need one. if the Retaliation movie had someone lesser known portray RB I am not sure how that would work. I am a huge fan of him in the comics, and the toy. Stalker is my favorite too. We have Larry Hama to thank for a lot of GI Joe's depictions. Now, you'll have to excuse Duke. He gets a few seconds in the camera and just crumbles under pressure.
Good stuff man! I have a broken 84 Roadblock from my uncles collection. But I also have the 2000 repaint. They gave the character a different name, but I still use him as Roadblock since it's the same mold and everything. I'm really looking forward to when you cover the Cobra Viper and Crimson Guard.
Silent Wobby Cobra Viper will probably be coming up in a month or so. Crimson Guard may take a bit longer. There are some file card variants I need to track down. I hope you'll stick around!
HoodedCobraCommander788 Sounds good man! I'll be sticking around. In my honest opinion, you're one of the best reviewers on TH-cam. I look forward to every Monday for a new Gi.Joe review. :)
I loved how he rhymed in the cartoon gave him a quirk and his confidence is good but rockets red glare was his best ep and I loved how he tossed cobra commander in the trash and made fun of destros broken pop gun. I am glad he got promoted (beachead in the show was infuriating) and his aunt knowing how to embarass him is something though I heard he was different in action force like scarlet and quick kick were.
@@matthewneufer1758 point was they knew how to bring the big guy down with a few words it was gold and I still love how he handled that extensive ent lawyer
This was such a great figure that I had 2 as a kid! And as for the reboot your middle finger does not begin to cover my distaste how they trashed the character. But then again I dont mess with the modern movies they made.
I think my brother had Roadblock but I don't remember him being used much. Then his leg got broke somehow so he didn't get used at all after that. I eventually took him over, put an extra set of Flint's legs on him then he was ready for use.
I would not be surprised if Hasbro intentionally made the Version 1 and 3 head sculpt of Roadblock to be similar to another New England area athlete. He looks like former heavyweight boxing champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler from Brockton, MA.
In retrospect, I wish I would have kept the package cards for the figures rather than clipped out the file cards and flag points. I never even ordered anything with the flag points.
How about a video ranking the top 5 African American G.I. Joe figures. Stalker might be my favorite black G.I. Joe as a character but his figures always underwhelmed me. My favorite AA figure though is probably Hard Ball as a figure.
My favorite versions of Roadblock are the 1992 and 1993 versions, the original one here, literally looks like a alien! I like the second version too, but "egghead", not so much.👍🏾
Galaxy of Toys RnR did stick around for a while, but at one point in the comic book most of the original 13 Joes were taken off active combat duty and given administrative roles. Hasbro had to keep the focus on the new toys! But the Green 13 were always on active duty... in our hearts!
no name here I don't know. In G. I. Joe: Retaliation, the Rock briefly fires a 50 cal from the hip, but that was probably movie effects. Even if you could, there's no way you could be accurate.
The Rock is ok as Roadblock, but Terry Crews would be spot on as Roadblock.
This.
Yes 100% agree

"Cobra get outta my way, or Mr. Browning here, will ruine your day."
RB is so freakin awesome, he's in my top 5 favorites.

That 1984 series--figures and vehicles--was just epic. Best of the vintage era IMO.
Cool review! Roadblock is one of my fave characters from my childhood til now.
Tikifire's Retro Clubhouse Thank you! Roadblock is an easy character to like.
True, though I always wondered what was up with the rhyming in the cartoon too. A bit shy of racism but still kinda insulting.
Body massage!
Excellent assessment of the "tough guys"...that is exactly how it was.

Neal G That's a good list. Beach Head is an appropriate member. Maybe Leatherneck, too.
Heavy Duty too
Diego Borges most definitely.
Always was my favorite Joe, yet strangely I've never watched your review until now...will see...

sam torres Duke has some performance anxiety.

Awesome! Thank you!
Ya! I picked this guy up about 2 weeks ago!
great review bro, roadblock is the man!
This...the first Roadblock is the best of all the versions..never thought much of the 86 version
Great review!
GIJOE4157 Thank you!
great review as always my thing on figure stands is, I use them on all my figures I just use caution when I put them in the foot hole.

Aunt Sara and Uncle Kaleb owners of the red rocket drive thrue.

I had the Tiger Force Roadblock, which was a repaint of v1.
May be my favorite review
cool review
james strickland Thank you!
I got my series 1 Roadblock with an assortment of other Joes at a garage sale. It didn't include his accesories unfortunately.

I concur definitely a top tier figure. :)

I loved Roadblock as a kid, but it sort of made me sad that he replaced Rock N Roll. I never liked to see Joes replaced.

You didn't talk much abput him being a cook, they played that up on the cartoon and I think that also made him special.
Oops. Forgot Low Light.
Is there a Tiger Force version of RoadBlock ???
I couldn't agree more that he should have been bigger like sgt slaughter. Chuckles should be a big dude too,
I have the Valor Vs Venom version I think.
Please do a review on the Super Trooper!
i'm assuming that i knew about that little pop-off ammo box thingy but for the life of me i did not remember it / =
What about the Super Trooper wasn't he suppose to be the biggest, and most muscular G.I.Joe around?
Because Super Trooper was hopped up on military grade meth!
What about the frige
also funny you gave the modern figure the finger when you said he was a ninja.
Chris Michalec Roadblock as ninja just does not compute.
I like to hear what the cartoon version would say about that would be a crazy rhyme haha.
I dunno. What rhymes with "ninja?"
I ain't no ninja sucka but I am a bad mother(you fill in the rest) lol
Shut yo mouth! (I'm talkin' about Shaft!)
This s before The Rapping Road Block
Bad Duke!
R F He's always causing trouble.
i wounder can a person fire a M2 from the hip ? think not but who knows

HoodedCobraCommander788
true plus all that recoil
V2 looks like he’s making hard poops.
He has a pistol grip on his gun
I know version of Tiger Force ...
maybe the retaliation roadblock figure is stolen valor he decided to lie about being part of the Arashikagi
"crack off"
