The Dock-a-tot is a life saver! Both of my kids loved theirs. When they were really small, I kept the DaT right by my nursing chair and I was able to put them down when they fell asleep. They were safe and cozy and I could get things done.
I had a very similar experience as you did... We had a surprise pregnancy in January 2020, MC at 8 weeks in February... I'm now 29 weeks with our rainbow. Will be following as many updates as I can on TH-cam. Most people I have followed having babies already have their babies... Nice to find someone in a similar stage of pregnancy as myself.
I had my baby boy and home and it was hard but also just triumphant and glorious and such a safe and gentle way for him to come into the world. Honestly I can’t wait to do it again. Excited for you!!
Excited for you! I loved my home births and I think it kept the toddler from being jealous of the baby because I never left home, I was always there for her. Plus baby is already immune to the germs in your home.
I absolutely would not have been ok at home. I labored for 3 days and had to have an emergency c-section because he was so stuck and twisted. And my doctor said basically I would not have made it if he had been born vaginally and him either I'm sure. I had no risks prior to that. You never know.
It's okay to feel some cognitive dissonance hearing about other models of care after that hospital experience. its natural when there is trauma involved. That said the scope of midwifery care really helps prevent malposition issues as you actually get to belly map babies position, learn what is optimal and get amazing resources for helping your body get aligned. Spinning babies, webster chiropractic, and massage would be good both prenatally and through pregnancy. Help dealing with the trauma is important too. Even planned sections are literally serious physical trauma your body can hold. Scar massage is amazing and obs sure wont tell you that exists. Nearly all transfers non emergent and and good midwife will work with you on plan a, b, and c etc. Most common reason is for pain meds to rest. I compromised on birth center when I wanted to be home. It was a huge mistake, nothing felt right and it led to her falling OP and stalling out. I eventually transferred and eventually had a non emergent cesarean that I was bullied into. Knowledge made things not scary even in the face of jerks. Knowing how the system works made navigating it much less scary. Also I was my midwife first c section transfer in 3 years... way better odds than the 1 in 3 chance in hospital. If you need support from others who've gone through the same thing seek out your local ICAN group, listen to the vbac link podcast, and there are tons of great books by birth professionals out there. Pushed by Jennifer Block is great, the Thinking womans guide to a better birth by henci goer, Birthing from within by pam England (she had a typical hospital cascade to emergent section followed by out of hospital vbac, and her husband a psychologist co wrote it with her, and Ina May's book has some vbac stories too. I wish you good healing and a peaceful, happy future.
Yes! Please do a video on all the supplements you are taking now😀 Did you do anything specifically to prepare your body before conception after the miscarriage? Also, are you taking Seeking Health Optimal prenatal or Essentials prenatal?
I found your what I eat in a day videos during your first pregnancy SO helpful. I’d love to see what you recommend for folks with gestational diabetes!
I'm sorry you had a bad hospital experience with your loss. Thank you for sharing that by the way because my second baby was a loss in November. I am so thankful I found out at home with my new homebirth midwife and the same traveling ultrasound tech I had my first time around at the birth center. I let the labor and birth come on it's own. It was really healing for me having had a transfer for non emergent cesarean due to malposition and it just... it meant a lot to treat his little tiny body with that respect and it's a real shame that's not more normalized in our culture. They may be tiny but they are our babies, not "tissue" and that sure as heck wasn't a "heavy period." Another silver lining is that my husband is finally fully on board with home birth, I was going to do it anyway, but it will be nice to be fully on the same page. You got a kick ass midwife and thank you for normalizing midwifery care! We need a lot more GOOD midwives! The evidence is there that experienced traditional midwives just have better care and outcomes. I wish everyone could have that excellent of care. My previous midwife had tons of experience with breech and twins too but was not legally allowed to teach it. What a shame.
I went to my 10 week scan in October and found out I miscarried. Took two rounds of IVF to get to that point. Glad this pregnancy worked out for you. Good luck🙏🏿
I didn't even know about Birth Centers until my 4th... my first 3 births were all somewhat traumatic, and I was dreading birth... I'm so glad I had my 4th at a BC and I'm having my 5th at the same one. My recovery was so much easier without the intervention. I'd love a home birth (but the hubs is still uneasy about it) so a birth center is our compromise.
I love this video, especially when talking about the sickness in 1st trimester. It is my second pregnancy, first that I made to second trimester And those first weeks feel like they will never end. It’s hard to explain to someone who doesn’t understand. It was 24 hours a day. I didn’t eat healthy at all. Starting at 12 weeks it started to subside but I was so worried it would last forever . 19 weeks now and feeling mostly better!
I used midwives and absolutely loved it. I had a hospital birth as here in Canada midwives have hospital privileges. I felt very safe in the hospital even during the pandemic (I gave birth in April). I'm glad women have choice!
I thought I loved my dock-a-tot but we found the transition out of it terrible! Our baby could not sleep outside of it but was simply to big, it was terrible.
The pulsating of the blood does not just have positive effects! I'm a negative blood type and my husband is positive, so it would actually be dangerous for the baby if I did it.
I very much do not want to be induced... I've considered how I'd feel about it if I hit 40 + weeks... I've never went far past my due date, but I'm so much more educated this time around... I always felt like the Meconium was the biggest risk to going past due too far... After having a midwife that is relaxed about up to 43 weeks do you feel that the Meconium risk is made out to be a bigger more common risk than it tends to be for most ?
Wow we’re so close together!! I’m 21 weeks!! Yesss I have varicose veins on my legs too!! I had them before but they’ve gotten worse and I’ve had to be put on a low work load order from my midwife so I have to sit a lot 😔 so annoying.
I have horrible 3 veins only on my right leg all the way up its so weird! I have a 14 month old and am 7 months preg. I think bc its second pregnancy and close to the first pregnancy.
My first pregnancy I was so so soooo sick for all 9 months. Literally all day every day. She’s currently 8 months old. Listening to you talking about being sick is making me nauseous and I’m having flashbacks. 😂😂😂
Highly recommend you looking into Montessori parenting! Hapa family on youtube is AMAZING and super informative. It changed the way I planned for baby and how I set up my home for my toddler!!
The after birth contractions happen while breastfeeding baby. And with baby #2 Oh My Gosh....might want to keep some tylenol or something on hand because whoa I never felt them with my first at all. Definitely experienced them for the first week (maybe less) with my second childand had to really concentrate on breathing through them.
Mine were so bad with my first! I was NOT expecting it at all because I thought it wouldn’t happen until subsequent babies. I’m prepared this time around though. 😏
I agree! I'm on #4 now (also due in March) and the after birth contractions were absolutely terrible after my 2nd born. He nursed pretty much nonstop right from the beginning so I think that had something to do with how bad and frequent they were.
I heard that decaf is worse to drink than regular coffee while pregnant? Do you know if that’s true? I usually mix half regular half decaf and just have one cup of that a day
I hear you about the masks! I have been looking into baby carriers since I am carrying my second as well! Ergo Baby 360 has had a lot of positive reviews when we get ours we will be purchasing that one! Cucumber water should help with Varicose veins it did for me anyway! Or maybe eat a lot of cucumbers too! I have Genetic varicose veins so! My Great Grandmother on my Moms side had them bad! Loved my Water birth with my first too! I am a home body though and that was where I felt safe! I know it’s not for everyone though! Lived for my husbands smoothies with my first! I was in preterm labor at 15weeks with this one and the Gentle babies book had an oil recommendation and I used it and it stoped my labor within 5 minutes! YL oils are the best! After ease tincture from Amazon should help with the contractions after birth! Haven’t used it yet though! If I had twins I would have done a water birth too! The thing about twins is complications happen so thought and careful planning would be best!
Please do an updated video of supplements for this pregnancy! It would be so helpful!💕
Yes! Supplements video please!
Q&A’s with grocery hauls are my absolute favs from you.

There’s always a transfer plan for home births in case the mama needs something that only the hospital can provide.

Can you share why you decided to switch from Best Nest? Did it have to do anything with the high lead levels?

When did you get your period back postpartum. We want to start ttc at 18 months but my daughter is 13 months and I still haven’t got my period

So glad you're back!! Hope you & your family have an amazing Christmas! 💕🎄
I’m so excited for y’all!💕
Just embarking on the journey of trying for our second. This video totally got me hyped!
I’m looking for a good virtual pelvic floor class! Which one do you recommend? Also how far along should you be when you take it? Thanks!
Love the Ergo baby carrier!

Thank you for answering my question 💗
How many babys do you guys want ?? Just curious
