This era of the NFL was so special
We didn’t know how great we had it in retrospect
Every era is special
When defenses were allowed to play defense and the QB still put up numbers, you knew you were watching something special.
@@targetegrat This was a great era but defenses were not able to play defense in 2011 lol in fact, this was the year when there were many rule changes to nerf defense across the league and watered down kickoff returns
In my view, this era made the NFL go from the number 1 sport to an absolute juggernaut.
A damn shame that the Chargers couldn’t get this man anywhere near a championship.
It hurts
Went to an afc championship early in his career, but unfortunately that’s where Phil’s chargers teams maxed out.
Blame Spanos
First Dan Fouts, then Philip Rivers, and now Justin Herbert.
The Chargers just love wasting elite QB’s careers do they
He also was the problem. My Chiefs dominated him toward the end of his career. Made really poor decisions
I'm just here to give respect to Vincent Jackson, one of my favorite receivers to watch. I could care less about anyone else on this field to be honest despite some great names here because I heartily admit, I only clicked on this because of seeing Jackson again.
The Vince Wilfork interception tho
Goat
This was when LT had left San Diego for Rex Ryan and the Jets and the Chargers’ offense was no longer the same without him
Yup
Honestly he wasn't as good then but I agree
Tomlinson left for the Jets in 2010. the Chargers offense responded by being 2nd in points scored that year and 5th in the next. so what the hell are you talking about
@@laurinnnthey missed the playoffs tho
Why do I feel like every other throwback game this season has been from 2011 😂 what a fun season that was
Fun in every sense, the only bad sense was 2 "good" teams from the NFC teams couldn't get to the Super Bowl the same way in 2007 when the Giants pulled off upset after upset.
@@LiamDeegethe giants were good despite their 9-7 record
@@mariosnum1fan In my opinion the 2011 Giants are arguably one of the worst teams to get to and win the Super Bowl
Yeah they were easily stronger than 9-7. Injuries on defense all year. At least an 11 or 12 win team when healthy
@@LiamDeege2011 giants are much better than the 07 giants especially offensively. And eli was actually good in the 11 playoffs
the first game i ever watched as a child i was 6 years old and it was tom brady’s first super bowl against the rams. i have been a fan ever since and i miss him playing for the patriots. he changed the organization and my life. thank you tom for everything. football isn’t the same without you.
6:27-6:28 I’ll never forget this play. Like how the heck did Vince do that?
I hope Vince got the game ball for that. It's always fun watching a 380 lbs nose tackle running with a ball.
@@vipahman Nothing like a big man running the ball that's for sure.
That 2011 Patriots team was an offensive juggernaut. Too bad they didn't have the defense to compliment it because they could've ran the table like 07
And too bad they had a "menace to society" playing for them at the time.
One of Brady’s better years too. Carried a below average defense and running game to a Super Bowl
Yeah but once again their offense failed to show up in the Super Bowl against the Giants and that's why they actually lost this year.
@@goblue193 Below average defense is VERY kind
Bro the defense created 4 turnovers and got a goal line stop in this game tf u mean😂. An “average” Belichick defense is still damn good compared to an actually average NFL defense
6:24 Big Vince, one of the all-time great DTs. A lot of people don't realize he has really good awareness for the pass and is very athletic. The guy had speed for his size which is already nuts. Boy you just miss the DT era with guys like casey hampton and warren sapp.
It's a shame that Nose tackles aren't recognized by the Hall of Fame. Good thing that Belichik has been signing his praises over the past couple of years.
the Chargers should be back in San Diego. LA doesn’t give a crap about the NFL. They don’t deserve one NFL team, let alone two
How about they don't go back to San Diego, la is where it's at 😈
Philip Rivers is a Chargers legend who played along with another legend LaDainian Tomlinson. He is one of the best effective pocket passers in NFL history. Tom Brady is also a Patriots legend who played along with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, so he is definitely one of the greatest of all-time as an elite quarterback.
Only QBs I have seen have more velocity in his throws than Brady are Josh Allen and Brett Favre. Maybe maybe John Elway. Maybe. This mans arm strength was from another planet
1:38 *My man KILLED it on the field*
Never heard that one before.
Philip Rivers was great, only he could never top Tom Brady and that was a huge reason why he never won a championship.
Really? I thought it was the defense that gave up
San Diego Chargers Against New England Patriots From The 70s 80s And Early 90s Thanks For Uploading
This era of the patriots is my equivalent to the 2014 Spurs. Beautiful execution and game planning week in and week out. Especially on offense. Defense had to account for every eligible receiver on every play. And Tom knew where to go with the ball 100% of the time it was a matter of making the throw and he did most times.
As a chargers fan this hurts. We had some of the most talented rosters in the league so many seasons but we just could never get it done.. Most disappointing franchise of all time in the NFL.. and it starts at the top.. Dean Spanos is one of the worst owners of all time..
As a Pittsburgh fan, I do feel bad for the Chargers and what they've faced over the course of their history. They don't belong in Los Angeles at all if you ask me and as Mike Ehrmantraut would say; They had a good thing every time they looked like a contender, but no, they just had to blow it all up in the end.
@@LiamDeege I completely agree.. Now we have this clown Staley who should’ve been fired year one imo.. but the fact he wasn’t fired after we blew that lead against the jags just goes to show how incompetent Spanos really is..
@@Killacam1992 it’s beyond me how that guy still has a job
@@thekingbarrelmaker7642 he probably gives weekly blowies to Spanos
The spanos problem has been a constant since the 80's. Then the move to no man's land. 16 away games, bottom last in TV ratings, a fat lawsuit from sis, and you still can't sellout SOFi, even with the aways.....The NFL needs to step in
Vince Wilfork's INT is a thing of beauty. Rumble on, Big Vince.
The atrocious defense the pats had in 2011 really showed
Chargers were cooking
Edelman got snaps at CB because they were that depleted
Edelman and Slater played significant snaps on defense that year. So many practice squad guys were playing and even they got hurt
They still made it to the SB!
@@AmirKhan-yv8jm With Brady hard carrying them
Hey youre doing a great job editing these all together! WAAYYY better than the official NFL highlights, thanks! I'd like to see more of the replays like the Vince Wilfort runback, or big hits, great runs, interceptions, etc. Maybe less of the celebrations.
Really enjoying the college football games too! Thanks!
The broadcast didn’t really show a good replay of the Wilfork play I don’t get why they didn’t, I wanted to add it
2021 was a great year for Football. A lot of great games and outstanding plays. I was at this game and sat next to Arrington's sisters. They were really nice ladies. Great day, excellent seats, and another Patriot win.😊❤. Got to love it!
I love high scoring games
Tom brady had an excellent O-line
the first 4-5 mins are showing brady getting rushed and throwing dimes into 1x1 foot windows because he is evading a rush in 2 seconds. as the game goes on, the strategy changes because the chargers realized that they keep getting burned by blitzing so they dropped more into coverage, which made it appear that brady had an excellent o-line. one of the biggest fallacies of brady's career. he had the greatest pocket presence in NFL history, and the quickest release ever with perfect accuracy.
Tom brady launched some pretty passes in 2011
Brady really led the Patriots to a Super Bowl appearance with BenJarvis Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead as his running backs. Crazy.
Patriots D 🏈 keep in clutch on that late game fumble!
Great video
Rip vincent jackson
Rip aaron hernandez
7:25 Gronk is running absurdly fast for his height and weight here.
Good game
Gronkowski and Brady best duo in NFL history
The Chargers are probably the most frustrating team to watch every year. Since the early to mid 90’s, they always seemed to have all the talent in the world, but always came up short. They either start the season slow, only to run off a bunch of wins and lose in the playoffs, or they have a season like 2006 and blow it . 2006 was Their best opportunity because they would’ve played the Colts if they held onto the ball vs the Patriots. A few years leading up to that, they gave the Colts fits. They always seemed to handle them, even at Indy. Still just as frustrating to watch this highlight, with Rivers throwing a pick to a nose tackle 😂 🤦. The frustration and confusion still continues today. I don’t get it.
Charger fan here.. Chargers are like that bad luck jinx guy from the movie 'A Bronx Tale'. Just rip up the betting ticket 🎟 because they'll ALWAYS blow it in the end.
Rivers is my favorite trash talker of all time
I Love Your Videos 📷 NFL Throwback Keep Up The Good Work
Brady V Rivers will forever be classics. IYKYK
As a Chargers fan bro I forgot about these receivers
Floyd and Jackson were elite
@lenny6485 jackson was elite floyd was average at best
Bro how could you? Lol
@@lenny6485 rip Jackson
@ocastaneda14 brother. I'm sorry, forgot LaDarius Green existed
Crazy that Rivers never beat Brady in his career
At 14:10 in, it almost looked like he was playing defense when he caught that touchdown 😂
Phillip was the king of interceptions along with farve but farve could get it done in big games 🧀🏆🧠
Clutch 2 big games from Gronk even though he had more good catches and blocks in the game!
Ahh the good times.
Brady undefeated against rivers
Philip Rivers never managed to get that elusive win over Tom Brady in his career..........
We need to lose out just to so we can see Patriot Quarterback highlights like this again.
Now you know what's it like to be one of the worst teams and be at the bottom after being at the top for so long. How the mighty have fallen.
That’s not happening any time soon
back when the patriots were good
5:35 THEY SAID BRADY WASNT MOBILE
I think Vince Wilfork had 2 picks in 2011
2011 rap was ross kayne
6:27 such a classic moment
It's absolutely hilarious when you pay attention that every time the big mouth announcer says he hasn't missed a pass in five throws he will miss the pass. He hasn't fumbled and seven games and he will fumble they are such jinxes
Damn the chargers just couldn’t stop turning the ball over
The Wilfork INT!!!
My senior year in high school
this patriots' defense didn't wanna play against a good quarterback because if they do, they forget how to play football. The offense was something special.
NFL Will Never Be Same Without Tom Brady
saw two Gronks @14:47
RIP Hernandez
Philip Rivers never won a head-to-head matchup with Tom Brady.
chargers gonna charger lol
6:26 Wilfork interception
Chargers played the absolute worst possible defense after the Wilfork interception lol.
passing clinic???
Man i forgot Ochocinco was with the Pats that year.
Pats fan in MA here that can legally bet now, who sure wishes he could've wagered on these Brady-led teams instead of Mac "Back Foot" Jones.
2011 the pats were all brady. Belichicks defense was a fucking joke and brady still carried them to a superbowl.
Agreed.
Well they did make a stand in the AFCCG when Brady struggled.
Typically rivers fumble but good QB his pocket awareness needed work at that time
RIP Hernandez and Vjax. What a tragic turn of events for both.
Our defense in 2011 WAS ABSOLUTELY TRASH!! If we had a HALF DECENT offense we would’ve won the SUPER BOWL!!!
Football is definitely better than basketball and I like basketball they crowd how psychically they are in the old game. 🏆 🧀
Miss the old CBS graphics.
This was interesting...................
Welp Sunday shall be Staleys last, last, last, last, last chance to prove he’s a “good” coach
*
That guy Hernandez was killin' it out there! What happened to that guy?
Brady in that helmet looks wrong somehow
He wore that helmet like the majority of his career
patriots own the chargers
Second
First
Good riddance to Tom Brady
And in with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs! By the way, I am not a Chiefs fan, and Patriots haters have become Chiefs haters.
@@deaniart As a Pittsburgh fan, I actually enjoy watching Mahomes compared to Brady since he does things literally no one can do, plus everyone tries to give him a run for his money and he shows just how much power he has at times.
As a Chiefs fan, I am embracing this new era
@@LiamDeege lol brady always destroyed the steelers..so i understand why you would enjoy watching mahomes more
@@afroamerican4029 It's because of Tom Brady and New England as a whole that I quit watching football daily after Super Bowl 51 because I was getting sick of them being in and winning every other Super Bowl or so throughout the 2010's and I wanted other teams to get their well deserved chance at a championship. I didn't start watching daily again until Brady left New England after the wildcard loss.
