I'm on a Preppy Kitchen baking marathon! Just made your thumbprint cookies. I made some of mine with strawberry preserves and I made a small batch of the chocolate filling you used in your s'mores cookie cups. They are delicious! So far I've made your strawberry lemon cake, vanilla cupcakes and s'mores cookie cups...not all in one day lol!! I'm really enjoying your videos and you taught me how to make buttercream flowers which I am super excited about! Thank you!
I just made these with my 6 year old and as usual, Preppy Kitchen did not disappoint. They were easy and fun to make, they forgive mistakes. I adapted the sugar to European taste (120 g instead of 200 g), since the jam ist sweet enough. They turned out so lovely, we're definitely making them again! Thank you so much for your effort!
I LOVED♥️♥️ when he said....I am using the silicone whisk instead of the metal whisk, because his kiddos were sleeping and didn’t want to wake them. What a GREAT DAD!!!!
I’m going to make these with my nephew, he is autistic, he loves to bake with me. Thankyou so much for also adding the ingredients in grams for us living in the U.K.! I love your videos so so much. Thankyou again for being so awesome and fun and inspiring. Xx
I just tried this recipe now. What can I say... Just simply amazing!! So easy and yummy!! 😍😍 I used 130g white sugar and 70g brown sugar. When I folded everything together the dough remained a bit sticky but just added some more flour and it was perfect 👌. Got out 32 biscuits with this recipe. Thank you preppy kitchen for your amazing talent 😊 xxx
I love your no fuss approach to baking. In this episode you answered my question of “how can this man stay so slim given the sweet baked goods in the house”. The answer is “the kids are napping”, chasing them around is the happiest form of exercise.
I tried the Chocolate chip cookies ...... tried loads of recipes but this is the best and one the quantity is sufficient Well done...but they took 15mins .....the result is amazing I'm not buying anymore.I recommend your lemon meringue recipe it's a WOW I tried it .....again HATS OFF👏👏👏👏Thanks for sharing.
My four year old grandsons will be with me on Friday. This is a good project for us, many different activities to share to complete the project. Thank you John,
His recipes never fault with me! It's always perfect and everybody loves it! I made this cookie 🍪 3 times double batch! And still my family & friends ask for more! Thank you ❤️✨
My daughter asked me for my Tom Thumb recipe… we used to make them at Christmas when kids were little. I can’t find it😳🫣so I’m happy to find yours!! We used to dip them in crushed walnuts before putting them in jam in. I’m going to make your glaze too!! Thanks!!!!!❤
I adore this man's video, I find him so calming and relaxing and he is so straight forward, uncomplicated and without that ego, I find every reciepe he does is faultless, works out perfectly! Thank you so much for your recipes and lovely warm personality!💛
Loooveee them I made it with a pineapple jam I had made and the recipe is so easy to fallow. This is the third recipe if yours that u fallow and my husband loves all three of them, u have learned so many techniques from you, thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Thanks for another great recipe! I love your videos!!! The joy you put into each one of them and how you take the time to explain every little step, really makes the difference. You inspire me to keep baking all kinds of things, you're the best!!!
Delicious recipe! I did substitute 1/2 coconut sugar for the granulated sugar and I used passionfruit curd instead of jam. It was DELICIOUS!! Thank you, John!
Thumbprint cookies have always been my favorite. They're so versatile. You can do any kind of filling. Although I may be partial, because the jam fillings are the best.
I love making thumbprint cookies. Have an Emeril Lagasse recipe for lemon raspberry thumbprints that I make 4-6 batches of every holiday season (along with about 8 other kinds of cookies). He adds some Chambord to the jam to thin it out... OMG, talk about being extra! Love it! Gonna have to try your recipe and switch up the jams. Maybe a nice orange marmalade? YUM!
You know what? I was just thinking of what to take to work for everyone at coffee time, I was thinking of these cookies and here you are making them. Awesome!!
I don’t know how do you know what I’m thinking. I’ll be thinking about baking or cooking something and I’ll open up my iPad and there you are it’s just what I wanted to do your photography is spot on I love everything like it’s right up my alley thank you for all your hard work.
Just made these. Absolutely fabulous! I followed recipe in video.. not the one online you have posted (it's different). I used the same brand of preserves, but I bought the one called Four Fruits (my favorite) this recipe is a keeper!
I love these thumb print cookies and are my favorite. I really enjoy making them. and my family loves them. I also like to make the Thumbprint iced cookies which are also delicious! Love your recipes! You are so great at baking! And I really enjoy your videos!
I love the way you explain, the way you’re funny, your smile, your attitude, your patience! I’m trying these, made the dough and put it in the fridge, going to bake them tomorrow, can’t wait 🥰Hope it’s ok to let it cool overnight, it’s already late in the night here 😁
Thank you for giving the recipe measurements in both grams and cups! Really thoughtful of you. 😊Also this recipe looks great! I will try it out for sure but I'm a little apprehensive. The last time I tried baking thumbprint cookies, they didn't cook properly beneath the jam 'wells'.
These are great with pecan pie filling (w/brown sugar, no corn syrup, for consistency). I like the butter-to-sugar-to flour ratio of this recipe, can't wait to try it (if I bake this season.)
I learn something new with each video. Finally baking is not so scary! Thanks for keeping it easy & fun!! You would have been my favorite teacher in school🤗
That’s what I did this year at Christmas time! I just used the cheap fold top bags. That way I didn’t feel bad about using a bag for each flavor and it held just the right about of jelly for the batch size I managed to make.
Your recipes always bring back so many wonderful memories of my childhood.💖 I never liked the jam so my Mom would do a batch with 1/2 of them with almonds and almond extract and the other half with mariochio cherries YUM! Love your channel!
I've recently discovered that I'm crazy about cranberry things. Going to make this with either homemade cranberry sauce or Christmas jam with cherries. Can't wait!
we had a variation for Christmas every year, but more of a shortbread cookie with jam and crushed walnuts or pecans. They were kind of a cross between a sugar cookie and a shortbread and thick and buttery.
I love making these cookies. The only difference is that I bake them in their ball stage and then use a wooden spoon to make the indentation and then I put the jam in the center. I am sure either way would work.
@@Sunnybun_nesa For as long as they last they are well worth it. Can you find a refurbished one? There used to be a kitchen aid store in Greenville OH that had a sale every year of refurbished mixers but sadly they recently closed. Perhaps kitchen aid sells refurbished machines directly.
You are by far my favorite baker! Every video is super fun to watch and so easy to understand! Btw, I bought cake strips because of you and they worked fantastic just like you said! I used your recipe and another recipe for my son's bday cake. (Made them each 2 times to test which I wanted) Your recipe won the best taste and texture...the family didn't want to finish the other cake I gave them 😂😂😂😂😂
I thought the same🤔 but then i remembered i have a son with Asperguers😂 And he always makes or says things in a different way but with the same expected results, so im not surprised. Now im just opened to understand😊 anyways 2/4 of a tsp is same as 1/2 tsp just a different way of saying it💁😉
Here in Sweden we have a cookie called Hallongrottor (translating to "Raspberry caves) which is really similar to this one. It has strictly raspberry jam in the middle and no icing
I made these easy and delicious cookies and my family just love them! I am now making more as a request 😋👍😂😂 T.hanks John God Bless you and your cute children.
I am always making those cookies for christmas. But I am rolling the dough through oatmeal first and then press it down with my thumb and filling it with marmelade :D
These look delicious 😋 Totally understand getting things done quickly before the kids wake from they’re nap 😂😂😂😂 I try to do a million things when my kids are sleeping lol

We've been making these for years in our house. We use Almond extract in place of the vanilla. So good. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video.
I will try this recipe, but with guava. The dough looks perfect. I use to do polvorones with guava and they are good.
Thanks for the guava idea love it
Yes, Guava~~~~~
I love making these with no bake cheesecake filling added to the "well" after cookies have cooled ... oh yum !!! : ]
the dough is the bomb...i tossed my other recipes..and just used this one
I can already see my son's face when he finds out he can stick his thumb in the dough😄

In Germany we make them for Christmas - and when I translate the name it's 'Angels'eyes'! :-)
Husarenkrapfen 😸
Einfach lecker 😋
The name walks a fine line between Christmas and Halloween.
I love the name... Angels Eyes... 😍
I am making them for Christmas toooo 😍😍😍

I have made jam thumbprints so many times. You wouldn’t believe how delicious they are filled with lemon curd!
That sounds amazing 😍
I chilled the dough and used a wooden cookie mold and filled the center with jam and they also came out beautiful .such a good recipe !

Savour every moment with your boys. Such a precious time. Before you know it, they'll be grown up with little ones of their own 💖
This is so true. The time flew by with my girls, where did it go? It just flies!

Watching this as I bake Russian Tea Cakes! I will have to try this and I have homemade jam. Thank you for sharing.
175k on the same night as the 2019 Grammys! And the “Chef-y” award goes to John of Preppy Kitchen! Congrats!
