Lol… had to laugh because as I watched I was already adjusting the recipe and process in my head and that is EXACTLY what I planned. I find that most recipes use WAY too much sugar for my taste so I almost always reduce it by half. Glad to know it worked! 😋😋😋
I love this recipe! You are correct the dough is a sticky mess. I got tired of fighting it because I started too late in the day so I put the dough in refrigerator overnight. I don’t know why but it was so easy to work with the next day. My daughter loves Snicker Doodles so I made a bowl of cinnamon and turbanado sugar. After rolling the cookies I rolled them in the cinnamon sugar. Omg they were amazing. The turbanado sugar gives them a nice crunch versus regular sugar. I’ve made a lot of your recipes and love every one of them. Easy to follow. I have a brain disease and it has really made it hard for me to comprehend directions correctly. I’m Sicilian and not used to following a recipe but a stroke took my memories away so my kids want everything written down. My daughter arrives Friday for my birthday and I am going to surprise her with the cookies. She’s a Snicker Doodle junkie and she also loves my cheesecakes. Thanks again ❤️❤️
Made these yesterday - they are amazing! And very easy. I turned them into Christmas cookies by dipping them in green and red sugar before baking - so cute! Highly recommend, will definitely be a new go-to cookie. Thank you!
Hi John, I made these cookies recently and accidentally baked them at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. They were doughy. But then I realized you recommended 375 degrees for 10 minutes and they turned out perfect! You know your cookies! I can’t wait to try your other cookie recipes. Thanks so much! You are the best! ❤.
I made the dough up last week and put it in the fridge but couldn’t find the time to bake them up. Saturday morning and I finally got them in the oven. OMG these are so good. Thanks so much for the recipe. Love your videos. Please keep them coming.
So funny, I've had 4oz cream cheese just sitting in my fridge from a past recipe and wondering what to do... think I'm making cream cheese cookies right now! Serendipitous!💕
Not sure how he got those so perfectly circular in the pic, for mine are quite "ugly" and misshapen, but very tasty and creamy in texture. The hubby says a keeper!
@@atadlish lol mine were ugly too; it was hard to roll them into balls since the dough was sticky even after putting it in the fridge. they were SO good though.
I'm eating these right now after making them for the first time. Absolutely delicious! I love that they only use half a brick of cream cheese. I have recipes that cause for half and then the other half sits in the fridge forever, and now whenever I make something with 4 ounces of cream cheese I'll whip these up quickly.
I made the dough up last night and chilled it over night. When I was forming the dough into balls today I put on gloves and kept a bowl of ice water next to me and dipped my hands in the ice water when needed and patted them dry. It made it much easier to keep the dough from getting to soft. I also made a thumb print in each cookie and topped with raspberry preserves. They came out perfect and delicious.
@@schoolhomework1931 Sorry my notifications aren't on but, I baked them with the preserves on. I am making them again for Christmas this year. I'm going to do a combination of lemon and raspberry this year🎄
I have three kids and when they would accuse me of having a favorite I would always tell them " yep, but favorites change". They are grown now and they all say that they each got to be my favorite. I loved baking with my kids, it makes me smile to see you bake with your boys!
Funny..When mine were alone I would secretly tell each of my 2 daughters, that they were my favorite. When they got older, they realized I was telling the other sister the same thing..lol😂
This is my favourite cookie recipe right now because it's a great base recipe. I recently made a slightly modified version (reduced sugar by 25%, replaced vanilla with nutmeg and added some leftover almond flour) which turned out amazing!
This is my new favourite cookie recipe, it tastes amazing, and it stays soft even after two days! (It took an enormous amount of willpower to test this, believe me.) A word to the wise: if your kitchen is quite warm (as mine usually is, especially when the oven is on), be quick when handling the dough. I fiddled with the balls a bit too much when I made my first batch, so even though I took the dough out of the fridge only a few minutes before baking, some of the balls started to melt a little before getting into the oven, and as a result I got a few cookie-puddles instead of round and shapely mounds. Still friggin' delicious though :D The second time around I threw the balls back into the fridge and only took them out to quickly slap them onto the baking tray, and they turned out perfect
I just made these and the were DELICIOUS!!!! so soft, and fluffy, buttery, and super easy to make, thank you for the recipe, and to anyone who hasn't made these I highly recommend them
I'm not fond of cooking but occasionally I get in the mood. Made these little biscuits, so simple & easy, husband was over the moon, "just a couple" for morning tea, another "couple" for after lunch, then a few more for afternoon tea. By supper they were gone. Husband asked if I could make some more this morning so have another lot cooking but I used lemon essence & lemon zest in the mix. So we'll see how long they last.
I made this just last weekend and it turned out perfect! Literally so easy and my family devoured in 10 minutes. I might add some lemon zest next time.

Back in the 1970's we had an elderly friend. Each time she came to visit she brought a box of baked goods. She made Angel Food Cake from scratch and frosted it with a maraschino cherry glaze, back when maraschino cherries were actually good! Included in the box was always two different cookies that I have never seen since. I would ask her to share her recipe with me. She was really elderly, had no children or family and she would not share the recipe. She did tell me that the two cookies were "cream cheese cookies". One cookie had small pieces of maraschino cherries in the dough and glazed with the same glaze from the cake. The second cookie was also a "cream cheese cookie" and it was stuffed with a combination of diced nuts, cherries, raisins and dates. You could tell the fruit and nuts were cooked in some liquid but I think they had been marinated in rum as they had a faint rum taste. This batter seems like it might not be dry enough to roll and cut, with intent to stuff. I really would have loved to have the recipes. Thinking about it, I just remembered there was another cookie that was also stuffed with a date that had a walnut inside and it was stuffed with cream cheese, not in the dough. She was an amazing baker and it is so sad that her love of baking and her wonderful recipes died with her. Thank you for sharing the recipe that brought back so many wonderful memories.
Okay, wow, I just made these wonderful cookies, the first of John's recipes I've tried. I would normally pass by anything not involving chocolate, but the cream cheese thing caught my fancy. Scrumptious! I made half topped with apricot jam and half plain. Both are fab! If I had a batch of my homemade lemon curd, I'd use that, too. Next time! Thank you, this one's a keeper 😋
OMG TRUTH ! LIKE LEMON CHEESECAKE...SORTA. I DISCOVERED THAT > THE WHOLE LEMONS I "ZESTED" THE PEELS OFF OF < CAN BE PUT IN FREEZER ZIP BAGS AND FROZEN TO MAKE "PULPY" LEMON CURD
@@cathyness2156 If you zest the lemon peel with a grater very fine and mix it together with sugar (don't go to easy on the sugar part) and finish it up with a dash of lemon juice and put it in a jar and keep it in the fridge you can use it all the time for baking. It preserves for a long time and you can by organic fruits when you can get them on sale. The lemon juice I freeze in an ice cube form and use it when I need some. So you can defrost them in portions as you need them. You can do this also with oranges and limes.
My mother made these every year at the holidays. She pressed the balls flat with the sugared bottom of a glass and added 1/2 of a maraschino cherry on top. Cheerful and delicious
This recipe is so amazing! Unbelievably easy to put together and sooo delicious. Not too sweet, so even my parents who don't like sweet things ate them 😂 and I chilled the dough overnight and it wasn't sticky, I didn't even have to wash my hands during rolling. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe ♥️
This recipe will be "My Christmas Cookie" this year. My daughter Robin asked me if I remembered those cupcake sized cherry cheese cakes from the 70's. Of course! These will ring a bell from 2021 someday❣
I made these today! Rolled some of them in coconut before baking, they came out great, lightly toasted goodness, and not quite as ugly. This is a very tasty cookie! Thanks!
The elegant way to clean the kitchen aid attachment is to bang it on the side of the bowl and then complain and accuse your spouse for causing the attachments to have little dinks on them 😅🙈
MissHutli or not think about it and let the dobie have it to clean and find teeth marks in it...ya..had to replace it..but on that note,it had chipped paint at the top from the beginning and I had to always check it..thinking of removing all the paint and use as is,lol...I needed the scraper paddle anyway right🤷🏼♀️
I think running your finger all over the beater then licking your finger (repeat as many times as needed) til the beater is clean is not only more elegant but also safer. No damage to attachments or bowl!

Tried this recipe yesterday and got delicious cookies. My batter wasn’t sticky and I didn’t have to chill it in the fridge. Before popping it in the oven I made a heart shaped hole in the middle with a chopstick and filled with strawberry jam. Topped with powdered sugar when out of the oven. Perfect cookies. Absolutely will be making this again.
I am on my second batch of 72 cookies 🍪 and can unequivocally say that using monk fruit sugar substitute and doing the maths so that the “flour” is 3 parts almond flour to 1 part coconut 🥥 flour (which makes a pretty decent all purpose flour substitute) rocks! Thank you John, these are addictive :)
@@jlwestbrook325 Yes, that is what I did, I watched several times or just paused the video, substituting monk fruit for sugar and I took the volume of flour and did the math to make it 3 parts almond flour one part coconut flour. Not almond meal but almond flour, you can find a finely ground almonds flour that is very‘flour’ ish, Trader Joe’s sells a good one but I know it can be found at Sprouts and Costco
I am so successful to cook the cream cheese cookies for the party today. Everyone loved it and all of them were gone. Thank you for the recipe. I will cook it every-time when I have party.
I made them today. They turned out good. I am not a cookie expert but these are very soft, melting sugar cookies alike! Hope I am not offending any cookie experts here. This was my first recipe from Preppy kitchen. Will definitely try more!!
Good recipe. I hope you don’t mind if I make a couple of suggestions: 1. Instead of 2tsp vanilla, try 1.5 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp almond extract. It makes these cookies just…WOW. 2. Because they are so sticky, I scoop with a spoon and drop a blob into a little bowl of granulated sugar and coat it. Now you can roll it into a ball easier and you can skip the powdered sugar at the end. (And you won’t have the dough sticking all over your fingers.). They will still be pretty because they sparkle. 3. I might try a cooler oven temp next time because you really have to watch these. If they are even in a minute too long, the bottom turns golden and there’s nothing wrong with that, but now a soft cookie is crunchy on the bottom. Still good, though! Before you say it’s because of the sugar, it’s not. I make all of my sugar cookies this way and I’ve never experienced this as a problem. Thanks for the recipe, it’s a good one.
I have made these cream cheese cookies so many times and I just made another batch again today. 😁Whoever I shared the cookie with, they just loved them. Thanks for sharing such a good recipe.

I’ve never had cookies sooo good before, finished the whole batch in one night. Thank you for being so awesome in your videos 😁
You’re my kind of party
Omg I just made it, so deliciou😋
Thank you!!!
This keeps happening to me too! They're too good to be around

Damm. I am struggling with it rn. By the time I mixed eggs, it's all runny liquid.
Fallen in love this guy and his recipes 😭❤️
He has a lucky husband lol
My 4 year old son and I made these this morning.... And they are absolutely DELICIOUS 😋 Thank you!!!
Made these yesterday - they are amazing! And very easy. I turned them into Christmas cookies by dipping them in green and red sugar before baking - so cute! Highly recommend, will definitely be a new go-to cookie. Thank you!
What I love about John's videos is like cooking with a friend.
I just came across this recipe and I'm already in love with this guy. He makes baking so much fun! 😁
Review?
Omg why was this me !!
I love when that happens. Let’s us know how it went!
Great idea!
I was wondering if you baked with the jam or without?
@@schoolhomework1931 same here. I only have apricot jam but I’d want to put it on my cookies to try
@@meamascott184 Sounds luscious!!
Baked these and added white chocolate chips and a smidgen of matcha powder.. turned out beautiful- your recipes are always hits
This is my favourite cookie recipe right now because it's a great base recipe. I recently made a slightly modified version (reduced sugar by 25%, replaced vanilla with nutmeg and added some leftover almond flour) which turned out amazing!
I wonder if they would work with all almond flour and erithrytol for a ketogenic diet. You still have to be moderate with servings of course! 😉😊🙄
I’ve been making these cookies for years. They are the best. Thank you for sharing.
I have never bake cookies before so I decided to try this one, I have made 3 batches so far I just love this cookie , my favorite.
Our local farmers market sells cream cheese cookies that are loaded with chunks of pecans they are absolutely to die for
This is my new favourite cookie recipe, it tastes amazing, and it stays soft even after two days!
I just made these and the were DELICIOUS!!!! so soft, and fluffy, buttery, and super easy to make, thank you for the recipe, and to anyone who hasn't made these I highly recommend them
I remember my Mom making cream cheese cookies when I was a kid. I had forgotten about them. I will definitely make this recipe. Thanks John ❤️
Thank you for making these videos. They have enhanced my quality of life because making these things for my family brings me so much happiness. ❤
All his recipes are just flawless and delicious even in the first try it comes out so good, even this was just perfection ❤️
I’m only 65 and I have made many of your recipes, making this one to give away at Christmas, along with Russian Tea cookies. Thanks!
istg this guy's my favourite person on the internet shjshkfj why is he so wholesome? How is his voice so ethereally soothing? Was he a therapist before he decided to bake ? Or a kindergarten teacher? Sksksksdj I literally watch his videos to help with my anxiety bless you John, yer a sweetheart.
You were close, he was a middle school teacher :D
I made them but I also added oatmeal like a cup, and lots of walnuts, they come out delicious! Thank you 🌻so much! My best cookies so far! ❤🤟😍😉🌸🌼🌻🌺🌷🌹
Homemade lemon curd on top of one of these sounds amazing!
OMG TRUTH ! LIKE LEMON CHEESECAKE...SORTA. I DISCOVERED THAT > THE WHOLE LEMONS I "ZESTED" THE PEELS OFF OF < CAN BE PUT IN FREEZER ZIP BAGS AND FROZEN TO MAKE "PULPY" LEMON CURD
Mmm...lemon curd❤
@@cathyness2156 If you zest the lemon peel with a grater very fine and mix it together with sugar (don't go to easy on the sugar part) and finish it up with a dash of lemon juice and put it in a jar and keep it in the fridge you can use it all the time for baking. It preserves for a long time and you can by organic fruits when you can get them on sale. The lemon juice I freeze in an ice cube form and use it when I need some. So you can defrost them in portions as you need them. You can do this also with oranges and limes.
@@Glibber777 AWESOME !
I just made my cream cheese cookie dough and will pop in the fridge and bake in the morning! I cannot wait to have a couple with my tea!💕
How were they? 😊
@@BijinMCMXC scrumptious!
I must have made this recipe 10 times! Such an easy but delicious cookie! Thank you for this wonderful recipe 💕
These cookies are amazing and I had so much fun making them as they don’t require 2300 ingredients. Thank you.
This recipe will be "My Christmas Cookie" this year. My daughter Robin asked me if I remembered those cupcake sized cherry cheese cakes from the 70's. Of course! These will ring a bell from 2021 someday❣
Love it! I have a block of cream cheese I bought on sale and didn’t know what else to make with it, so this is perfect!
I'm 13 years old and I love making your recipes, I've already made half of your cakes and cookies, it tasted too good!
I’ve been searching for a genuinely soft cookie recipe, I’m making this tomorrow🙌🏼
John, it’s makes me feel better when I see you spin flour out of the bowl! Cause I do it Every time! 😂💕😁
I made these today! Rolled some of them in coconut before baking, they came out great, lightly toasted goodness, and not quite as ugly. This is a very tasty cookie! Thanks!
The elegant way to clean the kitchen aid attachment is to bang it on the side of the bowl and then complain and accuse your spouse for causing the attachments to have little dinks on them 😅🙈
Oh no, the more elegant way is to take the attachment off, put it aside and lick it clean while the cookies are baking.
or assuming the dishwasher messed it up, too!! hahahaha that video was so funny
MissHutli or not think about it and let the dobie have it to clean and find teeth marks in it...ya..had to replace it..but on that note,it had chipped paint at the top from the beginning and I had to always check it..thinking of removing all the paint and use as is,lol...I needed the scraper paddle anyway right🤷🏼♀️
Or just lick the mixing paddle 😂
I think running your finger all over the beater then licking your finger (repeat as many times as needed) til the beater is clean is not only more elegant but also safer. No damage to attachments or bowl!
I am a first time viewer and I am obsessed with your kitchen! So cute. Also the cookies look so yummy. I am definitely going to try this recipe. Thanks for the butter/room temp tip!
It's the gay part!

The elegance comes from within John, and you've already got it
thank you for making it in gram i never understand cup things lol I'll try this recipe this looks so yummyy
I prefer grams too, the cookies come out better. It is especially important when making things with gluten free flours.
Brand new subscriber here. You're my new favorite baker to follow for 2 reasons. 1. Your recipes don't take 30 minutes to watch. 2. You have great recipes !!! Thank you !!!
Made these tonight and they were amazing. Turns out I didn't have vanilla extract, but did have orange extract, and it worked very, very well. Just an alternative.
I love this man, I love his kitchen, and his cooking tools. So pleasant ❤️
My Mom use to make these with Almond extract. So good. Best cookie ever. For Christmas she would put a dried cherry pressed in the center.
Kristi Lisa Kleiner....where is the recipe printed out or I'll just have to watch from beginning.
@@jlwestbrook325
Yes, that is what I did, I watched several times or just paused the video, substituting monk fruit for sugar and I took the volume of flour and did the math to make it 3 parts almond flour one part coconut flour.
The most elegant way to take cookie dough out of the paddle attachment is with my tongue. Clean and happy results every time 😀
John, you are my new favorite internet Chef. You've got real good recipes and real good style.
I made them today. They turned out good. I am not a cookie expert but these are very soft, melting sugar cookies alike! Hope I am not offending any cookie experts here.
This was my first recipe from Preppy kitchen. Will definitely try more!!
Omg
John I made 2 batches today and we can’t stop eating them
Thank you so much for such good cookies recipe
Good recipe. I hope you don’t mind if I make a couple of suggestions:
I was thinking of using lemon extract and vanilla or sprinkling with red sugar sprinkles or green for Xmas what do you think?
I'm thinking anise!
Please tell me the exact baking time in the oven, what the temperature should be and in what mode, Convection or normal.
Thank you
I have made these cream cheese cookies so many times and I just made another batch again today. 😁Whoever I shared the cookie with, they just loved them. Thanks for sharing such a good recipe.
