They were originally bred as livestock guardians so if you have kids they will see them as the animals they are supposed to protect. Had one growing up and it was the best dog ever. Hogue makes a 12 " lop stock, and I bought it for them as a gift. It works perfectly for them now. Wish they made a 13" model. Best thing about that Mav 88. It's a beater, it's a workhorse, you're not worried about it getting scratched up or dinged, it isn't meant to be pretty, it's going to deliver what it promises and if you have to use it in a self defense situation and the cops have to confiscate it, you're not out a large sum. Just find any local gun store and grab another one. I named mine "Punchy".

88 is a great value. Downside is a cheesy crossbolt safety, pinned plastic pump and a finish not nearly as good as the older 500s. The 88 is "manufactured" in Eagle Pass, Texas, of Mexican-made parts driven over the Rio Grande. That's okay, I guess; just don't buy the "Made in USA" claim. I own the 88 with the 20" barrel and longer magazine. Good gun. My 1983 used 500 I bought for $199 is even better. No doubt the 88 is the best budget scatter pump.

Its very easy and fairly quick to hit 5 out of 5 slugs on a steel gong at 50 yards and 2 or 3 out of 5 at 100 yards. Seems pretty useful to me. If you live in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, or Texas, where I live, I suggest shopping at Atwood’s if you want a reliable firearm that you can also show off at the range, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money either.
They have payment plans that can be refunded if needed and you simply choose your firearm and pick it up once you pay it off.
The cons are that you may have to wait a while before taking your firearm home, or wait until they get the newer models.
The advantage however, is that we don’t have to settle for something we may not be happy with, and finding something under 300 does seem to be tough.

Saw the blacked out thumbnail and knew I was looking at a CZ.
I have both the P10C and P10F. Great guns. Love the triggers. For me - both are a bit big for EDC. I prefer my Shield Plus for that.

I used to carry Shield Plus. Great gun but I just prefer CZ's and I shoot P10C better. So I started carrying P10C. It has the same grip length as Shield does with its longer mags which to me was one point(I always carried Shield with the longer mag),as I get more rounds on P10C. it is a bit wider and barrel is longer, both are non issues for me even wearing t-shirts. I carry 3 o'clock IWB, P10C prints as much or as less as Shield.
Also I got TLR1 on my P10C, instead of weaker TLR5 on Shield. Yes, all my carry guns have lights since I don't have NV built on my eyes.
Both are excellent carry guns, I just prefer the P10C. I'm not really a big guy and hardly ever wear a jacket or anything heavier than a t-shirt, still I can easily conceal carry P10C. For pocket carry I would choose Plus but I hardly ever do that. S&W did a great job of getting Shield so thin, in my IWB carry that benefit is not that important to me though.

If you are on a serious budget and just getting into firearms get a CZ P10 series or something like that for defense and slowly buy the AR parts. My Go To AR took me a year to build. I only bought the absolute best parts and always used holiday specials to get them. My recievers and furniture weren't anything special. Just Aero Precision M4e1 enhanced stuff with Magpul furniture but my internals were some of the best there is. Geissele reliability enhanced BCG, cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel, SSA-E-X trigger, Ultra Duty LPK, bomb proof pinned gas block ect. It's basically a Geissele Super Duty rifle. It just has different recievers. It's the guts of a AR that count. The barrel, trigger, BCG.

I recently bought a Tokarev TTF Titan 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun for only 119 ducks over at PSA. I full expected it it to barely function, but to my dismay out of 85 rounds of buckshot and birdshot I only had 2 malfunctions, both of which were with birdshot which I was amazed cycled at all. 00 buckshot and #4 buckshot both performed flawlessly through it with only one exception....which was hip firing it. I got one failure to fully eject when I tried hip-firing because it's an inertia-driven shotgun. So much like limp-wristing a semi-auto gun, hip firing can induce a malfunction. But that's just the nature of inertia driven semi-auto shotguns. Aside from that it ROCKED. I'm going to run at least 200 rounds of cheap buckshot through it and if it performs flawlessly, then it will replace my beloved Maverick 88 shotgun simply because I can shoot the Titan TWICE as fast as my Mav88. Bare in mind that I formally trained on shotguns in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and have owned and trained with my Maverick 88 for over 20 years. Also I should note that there are VERY few moving parts in the Maverick 88. so as long as the bolt components and springs hold up, it should last me a very long time. I'm just hoping that Tokarev or SDS start selling bolts, extractors, and springs for it separately so I can have a stash of parts to keep it running for the rest of my life.

You will be hard pressed to find the CZ P10 for under $300 now. Maybe used. The idea that thumbing a safety is slower or less bumbling than inserting a mag and racking the slide in a high stress situation is oddly peculiar. Training is key in either situation. I've seen newbies attempt to insert a mag backwards, yeah, no fumbling involved. If you train with a safety, it becomes a non issue. If you don't want a safety, don't engage it, just train the way you're gonna use it. There are few people on the planet who will be able to keep up with you or even stay even with your level of excellence in pistolcraft. As you state multiple times, get out to the range and practice, always great advice.

Not saying anything bad about you. But why would they make a 30 SC in a single stact that isn't even some ultra compact. The whole point of 30 SC is for this purpose.

I just have a system of speakers throughout my house that plays "No Tears" by Scarface with the flip of a switch for when there's a bump in the night.

I don't know why CZ-10 is so underrated. CZ-P10 is a great pistol.
