  • Speed, Power, Quickness, Vision, Moves, quick feet. Had it all. Holds Rookie Rushing Record with 1,808 yds in '83. Holds single season rushing record with 2,105 yds in '84. Holds single game playoff record with 248 yds in '85. All while playing with lousy QB's. 4 different QB's in LA and another 2 in Indy.

    I remember one game Eric Dickerson ran for about 200 yards against the Seahawks. Watching him glide was a thing of beauty, like water flowing downhill. When the coach pulled him in the fourth quarter the Kingdome crowd gave him a standing ovation. Respect.

    Thank-you, Rick Darcy for calling Eric Dickerson the Greatest Running Back of All-Time! It's about time we have somebody that knows how to rank the best running backs. The three single season records you listed above are what I always mention to people when we have greatest running back of all-time arguments. Dickerson never even gets talked about in the top 5. Walter Payton once thanked Dickerson for going to the Colts. He told Dickerson that if he had stayed with the Rams he would have owned all the NFL records and told him the Rams messed up badly by trading him away! That was so true. Thanks Rick!

    Fastest running back to reach 10,000 rushing yards in 91 games which is still an NFL Record. Eric Dickerson was always known to be fumble prone but he was feared as one of the most elite running backs in football because of his 6'3 frame. The combination of power, strength and speed being able to run graceful strides shows that defences weren't able to contain him.

    Dickerson was a thoroughbred!!! He was great!!.............Size, Speed, Quickness, Vision. Unheard of for a RB his size!!! Won't see another like him. Imagine him and Marcus in the league at the same time. It was golden!

    Man, when I was in high school in Dallas, we ALL wanted to be Eric Dickerson. You might be the third string wingback but you had the winged horse collar, you had the goggles and you got lit up running like you were the last leg on a 4X100 relay, In drivers Ed we used to cruise past SMU on the rich side of town hoping we might see our hero LOL! When I was in high school, Dickerson was the most dominate RB in the league. Guys wanted to Dickerson, talked Dickerson, he was their 1st pick in best players, etc. Kids around the country wanted to be Dickerson when they'd play. Incredible combination of vision, speed, power, and drive. He had a 4-year run that was just unreal, and several other fine seasons besides those.

      mac morrison He had the matching towel hanging from his belt. The goggles, the neck brace, the thigh pads, the flack jacket. How he ran a 4.3 is amazing and at 6'3" is sick. So smooth.

    Perfect combination of speed and power.. Yes that was Lott getting trucked.. Dickerson had the most balanced footwork of any back in that era and one could argue throughout NFL history.. For a man that size to be able to get out into the open field and virtually outrun even the swiftest db's is remarkable.. His upright running style was certainly unique.. 7000 yds in such a short beginning to his career was amazing.. Hat's off to #29..🤙

  • @kah-el4243
    @kah-el4243 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm from Chicago seen Walter his whole career one the best of all time, but nobody ran the rock like E.D.. For him to be ranked at #52 is a crime he should be top 10 at the least. This man faced 8 and 9 man fronts and still set records, plus when Jeff Kemp and Dieter Brock is your staring QB's you should get extra points for that alone. One could only wonder had he stayed with the Rams what kind of numbers he would have finished with lets say maybe 22000 yards rushing. After he left Jim Everett improved with Henry Ellard and Flipper Anderson so you never know.

    From 1983_88 Eric Dickerson was the best RB in the NFL even better than Walter Payton yes i dared to say it but Payton had seen better days by then i always thought it was a stupid move him moving to the colts who were a piss poor team back then i was a huge step down from the Rams who were a very good team at the time they only real weakness was they lack of talent at QB Jim Everett being the best of a bad bunch he never looked the same player at the colts as he did at the rams even though he was still racking up 1000 yrd seasons he just didnt look like the best in the league anymore plus over the next few seasons Thurman Thomas Barry Saunders and eventually Emmitt Smith came along and outshone him but i often wonder what if the rams just paid him what he was worth what Eric Dickerson would we have seen when motivated playing for a far better team

    • @rickdarcy8689
      @rickdarcy8689  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      strangewayshere Dickerson played well with the Colts. He'd have won every seasonal yardage record but he held out from the Rams for 2 games and then another season he was traded to Colts in mid-season. Nobody ran like Dickerson. For being 6'3" and easy to see but tough to catch. I liked Barry but he got lost in the line and D-Lines looked around for Barry thinking he was down and Barry would squirt through, make a jump cut, another jump cut and book down the field in this short legs. Barry was awesome but just not Dickerson via my eyes. We all see players differently and why debate and you tubes are fun to produce & have.

    The most beautiful style of running. Beautiful to watch. I saw him run against the niners the year he broke the single season rushing record. It was in SF. It was the last game of the year and he had 98 yards in the first half, but what can you say about Joe Montana.

    WRONG! If you watched Eric Dickerson. He always fumbled when it mattered the most. That's why he never played in the Super Bowl. Great Running Backs help their teams win Super Bowls. Like Walter Peyton, Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Franco Harris and Marshall Faulk. Just to name a few Running Backs I'd take over Eric Dickerson!
