These devices all have the same two purposes:
1. Have the customer beta-test them so that the manufacturer can eventually come out with something that's actually worth buying.
2. Collect data to train their AI systems with.
Conclusion: *you* are paying the manufacturer to work for them and give them your data. These stupid things are absolutely not worth buying.
Really true though.
They understand that we need to be on the cutting edge in order to keep up with the speed of innovation
Especially Tesla's cars. But when they crash, it's your fault.
This is very useful for the 0.0000000000000000001% that don't carry a phone with them.
But I'm guessing if they are not willing to carry a phone there is no way they'd carry one of these lol.

The meta glasses form factor is a winner
They need to make it look not-dorky or creepy too. Lack of style killed the Google Glass.

I'd argue it's a question of timing rather than vision. Google was far too early and it's yet to be seen if this generation is too.

Both Humane and Rabbit will iterate and get better until they are bought by or bested by devices introduced by Google and/or Apple. I'm sure in near future all of us will be comfortable using multi-modal devices. Great review of this early technology.
Im excited for the independence these tools can provide for the visually impaired community. The cost and availabilty is amazing compared to the current market VI tools.
Well, talking about wearable AI, the first thing come up to my mind was smart watch. They have potentials as they also allow internet connectivity, they just need a powerful chip and probably a larger battery as well.
Glasses + phone seems like the 2028 move.
This seems like pointless versions of smartwatches. You can ask it questions and bearly have to take out your phone during the day. All those watchmakers have to do is add a camera for Google Lens and it's everything you could need if you're not actually web browsing.
I find voice responses tediously slow so always set them for text response which can only do with the clunky rabbit that literally would sit in your pocket next to your phone. Everyone raising their voice saying stop for the 3rd time constantly doesn't need to take that outside.
Google was already ahead of translation of texts. I used to use it for playing chinese version of pubg
I have the glasses and I have never used the ai feature. They are definitely the best pair of wireless headphones I’ve ever had though

Soo 1st ask the questions to these AI tools and then take your phone and check whether the answer said by these are correct or not !! VERY COOL 😎👍

I’m not the only one who feels the pin is maddening. I’m glad for that at least, but sad I’m gonna have to return it. Seemed like a cool idea, maybe it needs a few years to mature.
Connecting to all of your things, including your phone makes sense, but it’s possible the companies that make phones make that hard or impossible in some way while they slowly make their own versions.
I definitely don’t want to keep waving this slab of metal and glass around forever, it should stay in my pocket and almost never leave at some point in the future.

You kinda have to know how to talk to LLMs to use them. Otherwise you aren’t going to get what you want. With humane, you have to know what to day to get the right service to respond. Whether theirs, gpt, Google or wolfram
Asking for AI devices for a timer function is like asking Apple to put a calculator or weather app on an iPad.

Kinda sucks that network issues prevented certain features from working... I think the R1 would fair better, if that wasn't giving them trouble when you were testing. I've seen it work far better.
Guessing domestic short hair for a cat is a pretty good default. I would assume there the most common cat in America.
At least with the glasses you can wear them and it would still be useful.
As an owner of a Google pixel phone, I can assure you that everything she tried achieving here.. can be done with the phone. One button away... Even voice command if you want

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses would not be veery useful for those of us who have to wear transition eye wear. I would love to have a good translation feature while traveling!
You can put whatever lenses you want into the glasses. Mine have progressive lenses.

Wow I got Meta Raybans for the camera and speaker and day one beta ai invite was a surprise. I love some overpriced Teenage Engineering garbage but let’s be real they’re all just leveraging off LLMs currently and not even well. Don’t like Meta but it’s really just a solid product… that and you can get some slick prescription transitions and let your optical insurance cover it if you have.
