@@Quaquadaqu they are the 5th largest employer in Florida as a whole. It might hurt if they went away but they aren't going anywhere. The most the might do is slow down on investing in Disney world. And the state is doing great. I don't live in Florida but I live next door. Communities that were tiny tourist towns a couple decades ago are now gated communities and highrise condos. And no Disney didn't have anything to do with it (these are towns hundreds of miles from Disney). Disney isn't the big dog in the state anymore. So they can't throw their weight around like they used to.

The supporting local businesses is bullshit. Disney has done everything possible to make sure that once guests enter the Disney property they never leave except to go home. They make sure every dime the visitor spends is spent there at Disney hotels, restaurants, theme parks, water parks etc. Orlando’s International Drive, which used to thrive with souvenir shops and tourist attractions is now a low-end dump. Tourist s going to Disney used to go to Cocoa Beach and other attractions. Now they rarely leave Disney property. As far as retaliation for exercising freedom of speech how about CA refusing to do business with companies out of state who don’t abide by their leftist agenda?

There is also another factor that no one has picked up on: Bob Iger made a big deal about Disney's right as a corporation to the 1st Amendment and Freedom of Speech. He is correct, to the degree that a corporation is owned and operated by citizens, who employ citizens, who in turn provide a product and/or service to citizens. As such, we are all equal by citizenship to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and ownership of property.
This means he gave Gina Carano the right to sue Disney for firing her for practicing her 1st amendment right to criticize, as well as the fact that she was harassed by Kathleen Kennedy with the "struggle session" and denied her pursuit of happiness of playing Cara Dune. It also opens Disney to an in-depth investigation to see if they have been discriminating against anyone (left, right or center) that has criticized Disney in any way, thus violating their 1st amendment rights as well as the Civil Rights Act, which forbids anyone from discriminating for or against anyone based on race, gender, creed or culture.
Huge mistake by Iger.

I get thw feeling that Iger has sealed his fate as CEO and it will not be pretty, I can see this ending up in court as Disney in their arrogance and stupidy overstepped their bounderies to attack an elected groverment that had the strength and will to stand up to Disney and tell them "Play time is over, we are taking back our toys!" and Disney is acting like a spoilt brat, when all Florida has done is leveled the playing field with their rivals, so I get the feeling that Iger will not be seeing out his term as CEO fully, who knows, maybe before the next Elon John show, on a Sunday night, he gets the sack as his replacement did, but its pretty clear to me, much of the rot that causing Disney's problems lies squarely within the boardroom its self, this battle with DeSantis, is Disney making a storm out of a tea cup!!
