- My attempt at rescoring the final scene of Hostiles for my third year University of Sussex Film module. I love Max Richter's original score but wanted to have a go at putting my own spin on it nonetheless!

This is such an underrated and wonderful film, and I absolutely love, love the ending. This score is just beautiful.
Daniel Day Lewis and Chrisitan Bale are the best actors of this time. Bale continues to just amaze me with his total immersion into a character. A true pleasure to watch.
Rosamund Pike too, she's been absolutely killing it for a while now.
@@jaysoto1182 Absolutely. Her Gone Girl character has led me to fear my wife's private thoughts and abilities tenfold.
There good actors no doubt but to say they are the best is a bit of a leap
@@donaldharrison3031 They're artists so determining who's best is a subjective matter.
@@donaldharrison3031 Who's a better one? We all have our choices so please name one. Not dead, not from long ago, now.
Man, I felt that. She is an incredible actress.
As a career soldier, I and many others come to the same decision. As I watched this ending, I screamed out with tears streaming down my face, “get on that train Soldier!.
Do you walk around with a box of kleenex?
That’s right…give her Tri-Care for life
@@thevet2009 the power of government medical care.
Holy sh . . . ! Didn’t see that coming
Yes sir, don’t ignore the call of your life to reconcile with this dear woman and build something good ❤😊!
*What a scene and what an acting. She begged it to the nth degree without saying it. He responds perfectly in the end!*
To sever the tie of your own heart, even if you think you must, leaves a scar,an ache that lasts a lifetime. I know it personally!😢❤
I love the fact the minute those Indians where in danger she tried to protect them, despite what she went through before!
Great move and a very satisfying ending!
Her silent body energy spoke louder than words. Every move she made exemplified how Her Love deepened profoundly for him as they said good-bye andas he gave his simple nods to her like the warrior he is. They both gave iconic performances.
A very good movie and one of the best endings ever!
A great movie, about FORGIVENESS, and REDEMPTION! This movie showed both! We could use a lot more of that, in this world! What a great movie!
Not only about forgiveness and redemption, but maybe too about how carefully and deeply we should consider our own actions, however justified they seem at the moment.
Yes;in the nutshell Great observation.
I like your re-score. It works here. Thank you for sharing it with us.
One of the most awesome scenes in a movie I have ever seen!
She loves ya, she needs ya and she wants ya.
I wish I could get a woman as beautiful as Rosamund Pike to look at me like that.
But on the other hand, since I saw her in 'Gone Girl' I am scared to death of her. I guess this all means she is a really good actress.
All women r krazy, the only diff is degree, Rosamund has a vast range
Thank you and I want the best for you.❤❤❤
He was a true gentleman.
I like this ending I like this movie it's so sad. People don't even have a clue how hard life was in those days. Didn't even have toothpaste or toilet paper or Mcnuggets
They had tooth powder, modern commercially available toilet paper in the United States. Gayetty's paper, first introduced in 1857. McNuggets they are probably better off without.
Yeah they had full chickens for 0.25cents and none of that antibiotic mutated bloat bird. You could trade dollars for gold. The government didn't try to confiscate gold and alcohol from everyone. The people were half sick or half mad. Life was fine. War existed and it wasn't as bad as it got in the 40s. Just regular miserable. And a woman to come home to. A man in demand. Yeah great time we're living in now... horse shi
A true soldier. Give Rosamund Pike a hand; her performance in this movie is phenominal. Yet, both the actors are UK 😉
Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike is such an awesome actor and actress very talented and heavy acting on without much words! Such great and underrated movie the Hostiles! K
Beautiful score! I've not heard of this film before but I will find and watch it now. Thank you. I hope you got an A+
Easily one the best westerns ever made! A true guys kinda movie!
It's got the right tempo for the scene. The volume threatens to overwhelm sometimes though.
Trooper Hook With Joel Mcrea and Barbera Stanwyck 1957 is owed a nod by this movie. give it a watch if enjoyed this film.
The music is nice but too loud.
beautiful movie, astonishingly underrated. You can do great things with a small budget, unless you have to deal with "modern audiences" and modern "critics"
I love your re-score. It has a wonderfull buildup and it enhances the feelings of the characters. I havent seen the movie, so I dont know the original score 😊 thanks for sharing your work!
Awesome film !
Good job
You have talent
GOD bless you,
GOD bless Texas
GOD bless America
Magnificent film
I see what you've done here, but in my opinion "Never Goodbye" can't be replaced. Its already a beautiful track that totally fits this scene.
Agreed “Never Goodbye” can’t be bettered, was just for a uni assignment so gave it a crack regardless!
Bravo. Loved this film
IMO, Hostiles is simply one of the finest films made in the last 50 years
Beautiful. A class ending.
Wanted so much to see her face as he stepped the isle to her.
We don’t need to thats the point of how it was shot
I know… it would be their private redemptive hope for better, just the actress actor and characters are beautiful
A very unusual but fascinating movie. Great actors.
Nice!
When your life leads you to walk away from a woman like Rosamund Pike, not for anything she did, but the course of your life, you done F'ed up somewhere A-A-Ron. Get on that train, dammit!
what were the words Rosamund Pike's character said, her last line that was not audible
In the movie it is audible but he chose to distort it in this clip with loud background music, for some reason. She says " thank you. And in the movie, she didn't whisper it.
I had to remove the music from the original which came in during their dialogue hence the reason it’s no longer audible - I should have added subtitles but didn’t have time
Great ending. Just Great. Understated but says so much. Typical example of Less is More.
The music was lovely, but it shouldn't be louder than the dialogue.
Does need a bit of a re-balance I suppose
There was a river flowing and when he got on the back of the train it poured into an ocean
That’s a man following his heart. And going over it in his head one last time before he effects other lives.

I like the way he looked down.
I don’t think I have seen a better ending to a movie.
Love this movie! And it had Timothee Chalamet which you have to see Dune 1 and 2, the King and more with him.
Usually I give a shit on loves scenes in a Western. But not here.
what type of suit he is wearing
Frock coat in style until post Great War. It’s fitted like a uniform so it doesn’t look right
Love this
Why to Chicago ?
What will they do there ?
Never let a good woman leave your life without a fight. He had many demons to wrestle to come to that conclusion.
Falling in love is never easy.
I really like this music. What is the name of this piece
The poet warrior
Can't hear what they are saying over the loud ass piano
your rescore is good but too dang loud
Mr Bale is for me the perfekt bond
And
One of the best actor with Clive Owen
Beste grüße aus marl
Does he talk?
There are still rare men today with the depth of character exhibited by Bale in this film. They're merely more difficult to find and are obscured by the shallow distractions of contemporary media and technology.
Too loud.
LEAVE HIM ALONE !!! JOE KNEW ME AND MY SISTER WERE PUT IN THE MAJESTIC TWELVE PROGRAM AND WORRIED ABOUT ME
A happy ending but not a sappy one, thank God.
What the name of this music?
It hasn’t got a name as I just did the rescore for a uni assignment
@@parkdaysplease isolate the score and send me a link to it. I play music like this while playing Red Dead Redemption 2 online.
@@parkdays please isolate the piano
@@MrPlankinton I can upload as a Soundcloud link if that works?
@@parkdays you are very kind to offer, but my computer skills are limited on how to use a 'cloud'. 😕
All the unpleasantries throughout the movie, we get an awesome, happy ending.
It is hard to love and like people again
I didnt see the movie: But isnt it pretty dark to give a native american child Caesars De bello gallico? A report about how an army invaded a foreign region, killing a big part of the native population, looting, burning...? And calling Caesar the bravest man? Or is it another book...
A lot of movies end in the same way
I don't get it.
Watch the whole film
@@vicsaul5459 Okay, I get, its like the opposite of the ending of The Searchers where John Wayne realizes or understands he can't live in a new world.
He had no where ro go. He spent his whole adult life in the Army. In the middle of nowhere. He had no family. And he got attached to her.
Christian Bale is an excellent actor❤
The music is so loud you can’t hear the dialogue. :(
I actually thought he didnt get on the train
You can just feel that she wanted him to come with them.
OK - you screwed up the Re-scoring - the music is to loud and I can't understand what they are saying.
The choice of the music wasn't bad - it was just to loud.
Now - the problem I have with the makers of the movie and this scene - is - OF COURSE he's going to go with her. There was no way he was not going to go with her. So - you have all this big drama with two really good actors trying to put some real emotion into a scene - where everyone watching it KNOWS these emotions are wasted - because he IS going to go with her.
This is a great movie and it brings up the fact that these people had been killing each other for a good long time - and they hated each other. This wasn't like the Civil War - where the average combatant was fighting for his side and their enemy fighting for theirs - but - they didn't hate each other. For the most part - the soldiers on each side got along fairly well when they weren't killing each other.
The nature of the War with the Indians was much, much different. It was brutal and cruel. What you saw happen here to Pike's family - was normal. The thing is - the Indians had been treating each other that way for hundreds of years - and when the Whites came along - they were not treated any differently. They'd steal all the horses, kill all the men, rape all the women, kill the women they didn't want and then kidnap the women and children they did want to make part of their own tribe, putting those women's wombs to work making babies for their tribe. The Indian Tribes just flat HATED each other. After the Whites had their male relatives killed, their female relatives raped and murdered or kidnapped - they HATED the Indians for doing that.
The best movie John Wayne ever made was _The Searchers_ . His Brother's family is slaughtered and his niece kidnapped. So - he goes looking for them and anyone who thinks John Wayne couldn't act - hasn't seen him in this movie. The Whites were just another tribe and while there were alliances between some of the tribes - the ones who ere enemies - just flat *_HATED_* each other. John Wayne shows that in _The Searchers_ and Christian Bale shows it here.
Every time you see something where the Whites are being mean to the Indians - there was a reason for that.
The thing not mentioned here - is that all these people who survived - undoubtedly had PTSD for the rest of their lives. Of course - the Civil War Soldiers probably had PTSD too.
.
I told my wife I did not see that ending coming. She said, Every woman who watches this will see it.
I think she whispered “I love you”.
I thought it was “Thank you.” re the boy ....
In the movie, she clearly says " thank you". For some reason he chose to distort it in this clip. And I assume she was thanking him for everything. He saved her life a few times.
Don't tell me this piano is AI generated, because if it is, it's scary
@@greatdavid8790 it’s not, I wrote and performed it myself
2 Brits in a American Western?
Get out of the way, people are trying to get on the train.
Terrible. Music is fine, volume far too loud. It's a MOVIE, with DIALOG. Maybe let us HEAR it. Take it down 5 or 10 dB and it would be fine.
The rescore is really bad as the music does not fit at all.
What a pity.
It's a pity you couldn't even lift a finger to rescore it and post it so that others
can comment at whim it is a pity that it's really bad as your music does not fit at all.
I found this rescore wonderful by stark contrast, honestly, well done!
This how men was created..
That’s the wrong music in the video
They got it all done without wokie phoneys
The soundtrack is NOT supposed to be louder than the dialogue. FAIL.
Wrong Choice Dude.
