    How can idli provide good bacteria , when we steam all the good bacteria will die , definitely we will get the benefits of some additional nutrition due to a fermentation

    • @DrPal
      @DrPal  ปีที่แล้ว +4620

      Idli is a post biotic - bacteria dies but micronutrients live

    • @lakshganesh4776
      @lakshganesh4776 ปีที่แล้ว +465

      The fermentation process releases the nutrients into the batter already.

      Dosas are terrible. the worst. everytime i head to india. i would eat 5 or 6 dosas for breakfast. this is not a health food. too much masala. after 1 week, i would gain 10 lbs easy. terrible. they say vegetables will not make you gain weight. patently untrue and misleading. its a good thing i have will power. or else i would eat 7 or 8 dosas

      If you're liking it then by all mean try dosa that has 80-90% same ingredients but a bit more protein, fiber & that too eaten w same sides, but be warned, like me got addicted to this pancake idly that w ghee/ healthy oil springled & perfectly rosted golden brown style one or stuffed onion/potatoe one or plain one that taste close to pancke style idly, good luck.

    I was one year in Chennai when I returned back to India from USA.
    Only problem i was having is Acidity.
    Because of irregular food habbits and all those masala mutton curries with rice.
    Everyday I used to have Pongal at Navalur Toll Road in morning time and my gut used to thank me for such a chilling affect 😎.
    From my child hood days in Telangana i used hear that Chennai is famous for Pongal but when I was in Chennai no one showed up eating pongal even in my office cafeteria even though Pongal is available.
    Don't know why people forgot Pongal. Pongal with Sambar with no pepper yummy yummy and cool cool my tummy tummy.
    Promote Pongal as well man.

    As it is pre digested, it's light on our individual digestion because now your stomach isn't working as hard to digest and extract the nutrients.
    However do be careful about the type of dal you add as urad dal is quite heating and as per Ayurveda, might increase Pitta. So maybe substitute partly with moong dal, or chana dal. Served with cooling coconut chutney it balances out all the heat generated due to fermentation.

    Well, what Dr.Mantena Satyanarayana has to say is not to have idly which is prepared with white idly rava, which causes obesity and other health issues.He suggests to use jowar rava or other millet options instead of rava prepared from rice flour. In his vast acres of land everything is cultivated organically and food prepared with out salt and oil and actually tastes very yummy. He’s from Vijayawada.

    Idlis can be a good option for an Autoimmune patient but in moderation. I believe 2 days in a week would be great.

    Idli is my favorite dish luckily, and like ordering them, even if I go to 5star hotel. I should show this to my husband. Who comments on me for my preferences.
