Thank you so much! I love the sound of your lemon and tumeric soap :) Keep your eye out I've got a few more soap videos coming out in the next few weeks!
I’ve been making and using Liz Ardlady’s shampoo bars for over a year now! Washed my hair with one tonight! Love the recipe and my hair looks and feels great. I use the CP method.
@@honeyhill4368 I'm gonna try it cold processed, only going to use the amount of ACV that the calculations call for. As a substitute for water. I have some coconut oil into which I infused Rosemary and going to use that. I may also infuse some oil with sage. Both are excellent for the hair.
Thank you for another great video. I'm having a bit of a laugh to myself. I just watched this video with the sound turned off as I often do when I don't want to disturb my husband with the sound. I just made this today, finally!! I was waiting til I was almost out of my store-bought shampoo bar. And for a little courage. But all I had to do was watch your video again, thank you so much! You have given me so much knowledge and power through your videos! :)
Dear Elly, A couple of months ago I made my first soap. My husband, a retired mechanic, has been helping my son fix his car. They walked in the door looking like true grease monkeys. I told them to try my soap (first use) and it was unbelievable how it cleans. I was more impressed than they were. I had now idea it would work so well. I have collected all the ingredients to make your shampoo and I was wonder what the size of your mold was. Love your videos. Am learning alot. Thank you so much.
Hi Pat, thank you for your lovely comment, I'm always surprised at how well home made soaps clean too. They're even great for getting soap scum off the shower screen! I don't have this mould anymore, I'm sorry, but at a guess I'd say it as about 25-30cm long, 6cm wide and about the same deep. Thanks again :)
Ello how are you? I came across your video, it looks fabulous to make, just wondering on the PH, since I your scalp and body does not have the same PH, how can I test the correct PH on these?
Thank you for this recipe. I found my husband some shampoo bar soap. My son was actually sponsored by bed head at one time and that’s where they came from. My husband just loves it! Now I can make him some!!!!
I have found you just recently. I must say that you are the best teacher. You explain so meticulously each and every aspect. You take so much care to put it on paper and white board showing how to calculate. I have become a huge fan of yours Elly. Learning a lot from you. A big big thank you.❤👌
I've been making my own soap for quite few years and I watched A LOT of vids at the beginning on how to make soaps and I still enjoy watching but I never seen anyone using ACV in soap 😊shampoo 😃 now I wanna make one 😃 glad I found your channel I watched some of your vids and subscribed 😊💖🙏
Would love to see more shampoo bar recipe videos or this one done as a cold process. I haven't attempted any soap making yet but it's happening very soon! Thanks to your videos
I just made this today. It was straight-forward and I had all the ingredients on hand except the sunflower oil - used avocado instead. Have done hot process soap before but not ever in the microwave. It was fairly quick except my microwave took quite a bit more tries to make it frothy (like 6x). Anxious to try this out on my hair. Thanks for the post!
I would be really curious to know if this ends up with a different PH to other soaps. Have you ever tested one of these batches of shampoo soap? Have you used regular soap on your hair before? Is there a noticeable difference to when you use the ACV soap? Also, can you use a lye calculator as normal for making an ACV recipe or it is a different conversion. I am curious because I would think that the ACV would neutralize the lye somewhat making it necessary to use more to be sure that the oils were sufficiently soponified.
Such a good question. No, the ACV barely makes any difference. The pH of this soap is exactly the same as any other handmade CP or HP soap! The texture and feel is slightly different, but the ACV is not a strong enough acid to have any really significant effect. Just a fun experiment really :)
Made your coconut/rice bran oil laundry bars yesterday - a double batch. It came out so nice. Cooked it in a cast iron enamel pot. I too got a great big overflow on medium low stove top (now I know). Finished it in same pot, lidded in a 170' f oven for 2 hrs. Got 8 BIG cubes which I will try out as dish soap too. Tried my 1st liquid soap which has a phenomenal lather & scent but a little cloudy. Definitely will try this bar shampoo recipe as Im finding I like cp process as its so much more straight fwd. Prefer your mellow voice to subtitles. 😊. Thx yet again.
I made your shampoo bars today, very happy with the result. First time cook in the microwave was fast and interesting, thankyou. Also made the other recipe from lizard lady, love that one too.
You’re a fabulous teacher & the video is clear & precise, makes me want to try this recipe. BUT where’s your lovely voice, kinda miss that. With so much oil in the recipe does your hair feel oily after it dries? And do you have a recipe for hair conditioner? Great job Elly, I always look forward to your videos.
Hi Diane, thanks for your comment. I didn't feel like talking for this one, so I tried something different! Thanks for your feedback though, I'm sure there will be more of my voice in future videos ;) I don't have a recipe for hair conditioner just yet, but I'm starting to do a lot more research in that area. There is so much to learn! In the mean time I will keep going with the shampoo soap and vinegar rinse, my hair seems to like it. To answer your question re. the oils, there is no more oil in this recipe than in any other soap recipe, and it is calculated to have just the right amount of excess oil (3% superfat) to leave a tiny bit of oil on the hair without it being greasy. I find that my hair feels good and is shiny with this soap, but if you have really oily hair you might need a lower superfat or a different combination of oils. This is why the recipe is made with a small oil batch (500g - my usual recipes are 1kg or larger). I hope that helps! :)
Yes, wonderful and informative video Elly, but I agree w/ Diane.. I missed your lovely voice. You make everything look so easy; now I want to make soap!
I missed the narration too, but rather enjoyed the low level soundscape in the background. As usual the instructional aspect was exemplary. Thank you Elly. :-)
What is the final pH of the soap? Cause you added some extra ACV at the end and I wonder if it had become lower (sorry if my grammar is wrong, English is my second language)
Hi Lisa, the final pH is about 8-9, as it is for any handmade soap recipe. The ACV is not acidic enough to really affect the pH of soap - the lye is far more alkaline than the vinegar is acidic :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Actually Vinegar is only 3 points away from equal in acidity than lye is caustic on a scale. Vinegar has an acidity of around 2.5 and Lye is around 11 as a base. So if you correct based on these numbers you end up around 6-7 which is neutral PH, possibly even on the acidic side. That doesn't mean that soap will be acidic, that's impossible, but rather that it could be higher in superfat.
@@saborguerito Not exactly the whole story...the molarity (related to concentration) of the substances play a part in the reaction as well. We're talking about roughly 5% ACV solution vs pure NaOH. Different reaction if we were mixing both pure compounds in the presence of water.
I made this soap twice. First time I thought I wasn't able but it turned out great. Me and my 2 other friends tried washing their hair with it. One of us doesn't even use vinegar rinse. She says it is the Best even better than shampoo. I still use vinegar rinse. By the way I changed the ingredients a bit.
@@RAMNIKK of course 🤗 I made my own acv then added nettle to 1 liter of my avc waited for 6 months(2months is enough). th-cam.com/video/EE6I9m1AA0s/w-d-xo.html (I can add english informationof how it is made) I used 200g olive oil 25g castor ol 25g sunflower oil 50 gr cocoa butter 25gr virgin pumpkin seed oil 150gr coconut oil 25gr shea butter At the end I add 10gr terebinth oil (it is a violent kind of pistacio plant)
Its a great video, im so used to people talking way too much in their videos dani was surprise da in dis one nobody was talking, did not say in a bad vibes i really love your video. Blessingso
I love your channel so much! But I would recommend if you wanna make shampoo to just make shampoo bars. They only need 5 ingredients and it's the perfect pH for your scalp. 💓🌺 Thanks for all the videos!
Lol I love your comment "ingredients that I can pronounce".. I totally agree with you.. you see all these recipes with a million raw materials... Well if I'd better buy the soap rather than buying all those ingredients!
Hi Elly, you have made my lockdown SOproductive with your tutorials, they are simple clear concise and so watchable. Thank you so so much for sharing your amazing recipes and all the guidance too. Can't wait to see more. Stay safe !! :)
So acetic acid(vinegar) and NaOH cause a neutralization reaction creating sodium acetate. (I have no idea if that's good or bad for hair) but this leaves less NaOH available, so this soap has a higher superfat content than normal, which may be why it feels gentle on hair. I am curious though, how it would work if the NaOH was disolved in water, and the vinegar was all added at the end. Ie less superfat, more vinegar, no sodium acetate. Great video! I hope to try it both ways!
Oh! Here's a link to a paper on it. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=chemistry.bd.psu.edu/halmi/chem3vinegars05.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiGoq7guJblAhXQna0KHa4KCFwQFjAPegQIDRAy&usg=AOvVaw2mrHX4c2_41t6zNvM4xKWt
I'm not 100% percent sure on the chemistry of this soap, but I have tested the pH of it many times and it always comes out about 8-9 pH, which is exactly the same pH of soap made without the vinegar. Vinegar is very mildly acidic compared to the strength of alkalinity of sodium hydroxide, so I don't think it's enough to really impact on the NaOH available.
Hey Elly, I was interested in exchanging some of the oils to tailor this recipe to my specific hair needs. I used the same quantities, however broke them down & substituted. Would like combination and measurements work for this type of soap when cold pressed? 200g olive oil 100 g coconut oil 100g avocado oil 30g castor oil 15g mango butter 10g cocoa butter 25g jojoba oil 20g sunflower oil
Hi Cynthia, I'm not an expert on what oils are best for hair, but I guess it's worth a try! Did you run the new recipe through a soap/lye calculator? You would definitely need to do this to make sure the lye amount is correct for the oils you are using. I have a video that shows how to calculate your own recipes here: How to formulate and calculate your own soap recipes th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html And here is a link to the SoapCalc calculator if you want to check your recipe: soapcalc.net/calc/SoapCalcWP.asp
Yes I calculated it, for 3% excess fat I'd need 68g of lye and for 5% 67g lye. I'm just trying to make sure it'd be safe and a good mixture.@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking
Yes, absolutely it can! Just leave out the second portion of vinegar, blend to a light or medium trace, mix in your essential oils and pour into the mould. I think I'll be making this CP myself next time. Thanks for your question 🙂
Hi Elly, thanks for the video, I loved it! Question, where can I get the wired beater you use to do the frothing of the soap. I will appreciate your info. I want to do soap right away. Thank you.
great video !! thznk you but i have a question, hair and scalp pH is around 4 / 5 , so this shampoo bar can be harmful a bit no ? since its pH must be around 8 / 9 ...
Yes it does have a high pH, it is soap afterall. It really depends on your hair. Some people really like to use soap on their hair. I find that it's ok with a vinegar rinse to neutralise, but it won't be for everyone. I don't use this all the time, just wanted to demonstrate it for those who want to try. Thanks for your comment :)
This ACV is the same strength as any regular vinegar, but in this amount it is not strong enough to neutralise the lye. Vinegar is far less acidic than sodium hydroxide is caustic, so it cannot be used to fully neutralise lye.
Except for all oils. I've found my way to make lye soap. Tysm. Cold processed I broke out. 6 weeks later I could touch it mildly. But it was melted down. Little did i know in a jar. It remained soft. But breaking out ended. I think you are my solution. Heat n pour. Though i add some oils. I dont feel like i made it

If you can, it's good. Makes it a bit easier. But if not, you can just use the same equipment for soap and food, you just have to be sure you've got everything absolutely cleaned perfectly otherwise your food could taste a bit soapy! No harm done though :)
Wonderful thank you so much for sharing. Why don’t you ever check the temperature of your lye solution and your oils before combining please? I thought we had to keep an eye on having them both at around 110degrees F or lower before combining. Within 10 degrees of each other.
Hi, it depends on your recipe. Most of my soaps are made with olive oil, other soft oils and coconut oil - they can be made at room temperature. It's only if you're using butters, waxes, palm oil etc. that they need to be warmed :)
Thanks for the video. I've been making my own CP soap for years. I plan to try this shampoo bar next. I was using my own soap and ACV rinse on my hair but after a few months it seemed dry. I'm hoping this bar does the trick! Where do you purchase your bulk essential oils?
Thanks, I hope it works for you. I don't use soap on my hair anymore, it makes my scalp itch! Lots of people are fine with this soap though, so it's worth a try. I buy my bulk EO's online, mostly from Escentials of Australia.
Yes it lathers very well but because it is soap it feels different in the hair than store bought shampoo. Surfactant shampoos are very different chemically to soap. But yes, it lathers! :)
Just curious, is it possible to just flat-out double this recipe and do it in the crock pot? I love these - I do add plain greek yogurt (at 1 Tbsp per pound of oils) and honey (at 1 tsp per pound). I also did rosemary, mint, and clove for the EOs and they smell so good. Thank you for posting this!! They work wonderfully!
Great explanation ! I have a few questions 1) Is there any difference in quality of HP Soap and CP soap ? (As HP soap is forced for a quicker saponification where CP soap takes it longer ) Do they give equal benefits for our skin ? 2) Can we make 100% olive oil HP soap? 3) what would be the curing period for 100 % Olive oil HP soap ?
Thanks Dr! The main differences are cosmetic, HP soaps have that rustic look, and obviously saponify faster. Yes, 100% olive oil soap is beautiful made with HP. I always cure my HP soaps for about 4 weeks, however it depends on the water amount used in the recipe.
Hi Ellie, I've been having issues with scorching my essential oils in cold process soap. Is the HP method any better? I always end up with very light sent that fades completely away after few weeks of curing and I would prefer not to use the fragrance oils (I ordered one anyway just to try and see the difference but haven't tried it yet). I just found it very disappointing to use expensive EO and then end up with fragrance free soap 😩... thank you for your response 😊.
I'm wondering how your EOs would get scorched with a CP recipe? Are you using hot ingredients? I think if you're having trouble with them lasting in CP then HP won't be any better. What EO's are you using? Some are notorious for not lasting very well in soap. Also if you buy your EO's online from a bulk supplier you'll find it much more affordable.
Hi Elly. can I replace canola oil with coconut oil in this recipe and cocoa butter with Shea butter? Another question can I go with cold process in this recipe?
Yes, you can definitely make this cold process, but no, you can't change the oils without recalculating the recipe. You can learn to do that here th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html and I explain why this is necessary here th-cam.com/video/VkgUjjqa-8s/w-d-xo.html. I hope those two videos help! :)
I always enjoy watching your soap making videos. But I must ask, why you didn't use a crockpot? And if I wanted to use rosemary infusion water with the apple cider vinegar could I use half of each product then add the lye? Tanks for the lessons, I have been learning a lot!
Hi, I do normally use a crock pot for my hot process soaps, I just chose to demonstrate a different method with this video. And yes, your strategy for the rosemary lye solution sounds good to me!
Thank you Gracy! I really appreciate your comments. You can make this one cold process too if that's easier. You just leave out the extra ACV at the end :)
You can just use one type of oil but the soap recipe would need to be re-calculated for the different oil used. Also there isn't a specific time I can tell you for how long to cook the soap. You just have to go by what it looks like. Once it becomes all thick and gelly it is done. I have a video on soap calculations if you would like to make a new recipe for yourself: How to formulate and calculate your own soap recipes th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
I clicked to learn a good shampoo bar recipe (making soap myself since years) and I discovered one of the best ASMR video ever! Subscribed! P.S. Do you think that shea butter instead of cocoa butter would be too heavy on hairs?
Love this! Just getting back to vinegar for hair care and making my own this time. I currently have some lemon and some juniper. I made my first soap yesterday. I’ll have to try this one out soon, but with the crock pot as we don’t keep a microwave anymore.
Ok - I’m giving this a go with a crockpot......I managed to set it up to coincide with the highlights of the Tour de France re; stirring etc.. So far so good 👍 Anyhoo 🙄 - 1 hour plus later I'm not sure if I'll be doing this again? For the amount of work that you put in I don't think it's worth it. Cold process is definitely more satisfying and easier to control. However it does make a very nice bar of soap so I'm giving it a go CP just for a comparison.
Hi Elly, I cant wait to make this but want to do it cold processed, do I just add the 62 g ACV which you put after cooking, at the beginning with the rest of the ACV? Thanks
Yes, it can be poured into moulds, but if it's quite hot it may volcano in the mould! If you would rather make it with cold process method, just do that and pour into the mould once it reaches trace :)
Elly, I‘ve only recently come across your channel and I want to thank you for the great content. I‘m currently learning about soap making because I want to do a little workshop with my mum (as a Christmas present). We‘ll definitely try this recipe!

I want to ask, apart from using a large glass bowl, is it okay to use a large stainless bowl? Likewise for the measuring cup is it okay to use stainless steel? thank u.
Yes, stainless steel is great for soap making but you can't use steel in a microwave. Mght be better to use a stainless steel pot on the stove (use very low heat or a double boiler). Second to stainless steel I would suggest using polypropyelent (number 5) plastic.
I just found your videos a few days ago and tried a few of your recipes, thank you for explaining the process, you make it look so much easier. I like that you share not only your videos but your recipes too. I made this one and also the HP carrot one, and one of the 4 soap video ones. Cant wait to tried them!
Yes, you can change the oils, but you'd need to re-calculate the soap recipe. I made a video to demonstate how you can do that here th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
Is the last addition of ACV only to cool the batter before adding EO? Or do they have another role? I am asking because I would like to try this recipe in CP and I wonder if at trace the ACV will cause damage. Otherwise should I simply add EO at trace?
Perdón Elly, lo quiero hacer pero no tengo ni aceite de canola ni manteca de cacao, por cuales los puedo sustituir? Por aceite de arroz? de mani? de palta? Manteca de karitè?
You could replace these oils, but with any changes made the recipe would need to be recalculated. You can learn to do that in this video :) th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html Sorry Elly, I want to do it but I have neither canola oil nor cocoa butter, what can I replace them for? For rice oil? of mani? avocado? Shea butter?
Thank you for this! I do not have a crock pot and was really wanting to do a shampoo bar. We've been using a diluted (in water) baking soda wash and same kind of vinegar rinse for a few years and have been getting tired of ... well, dumping cold water on our heads! I adapted this a bit a few days ago and am in love with the results, though I overcooked it a bit. Do you think a rebatch to add back some moisture would work to fix the crumbly? I'm thinking about that, or just letting it cure as is so I don't ruin the lovely EO's I added. Thanks again!
Hi Elly, thank you for your educational videos. We are newly getting into making our own shampoo bars, and wanted to clarify couple of questions. When using vinegar (acid) don't we have to adjust lye measurement (amount) to account for the vinegar acidity? Second, do we use same calculator, such as soapcalc that we normally use for regular soap? Thanks again
It worked. Another question please as you have tried those shampoos. It could be used for body as well in case one decides not to use it for his hair? Would ut be mild enough?
So.. do the oils leave your hair greasy at all?? is there a proper way to apply the shampoo bar to the hair? Lather in hands first? Or put directly on hair? Thanks Elly! I love your videos! :)
Thank you! I just lather it onto my hands first, then into the hair. No, it doesn't leave the hair greasy. It is soap and not a shampoo, so it leaves your hair with that squeaky clean soap feeling, but the vinegar rinse after helps. See the description box for more info :)
yes vinegar is kniwn to be germ-killing so, it is good to know from you madam ellen that it could also be incorporated with soap bar making to make shampoo. I am now excited to make also mine and imitate all of your ingredients so as not to make mistakes. I have no oven but I'll try making in a double boiler. thanks for the video madam ellen. more power to you.
Hello! Your videos are my favorite! I was wondering what's the best oil to substitute the coconut oil? I have an allergy to coconut, palm and babassu oil. Thank you!
I'm not sure, I think I overcooked this a bit, but microwaves don't do any more damage than stove top cooking does. You can easily make this on the stove, just use very low heat and watch it :)
thank you for showing us this simple recipe. We rinse our hair in ACV and have been interested in a natural soap bar. My only concern is we do not own a microwave or use canola oil. What would the time frame for the crock pot use be? What oil or oils would you recommend instead of canola oil. Cheers :)
You could reformulate a recipe using a different oil if you like. I show how to do that here th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html This chart might help you select a different oil www.lovinsoap.com/oils-chart/ Also you don't need a microwave at all. This soap would cook in about 20 minutes in a crock pot :)

Great!
I have found you just recently. I must say that you are the best teacher. You explain so meticulously each and every aspect. You take so much care to put it on paper and white board showing how to calculate. I have become a huge fan of yours Elly. Learning a lot from you. A big big thank you.❤👌
Wow! Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, Linda. I'm glad that my videos help you on your soap making journey. I appreciate your support a lot❤
Thank you - check out the link to Liz Ardlady's original post in the description box - she explains it all! :)

You've just inspired me Sian, thank you!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking thats great to hear, look forward to seeing more fantastic soap from you!
You're welcome, thanks for your comment. Sounds like you had fun with it :)
Can I use the double boiler instead of the microwave please? Elly you are the best teacher ever ❤
Thanks so much James, appreciate your feedback.
I made your shampoo bars today, very happy with the result. First time cook in the microwave was fast and interesting, thankyou. Also made the other recipe from lizard lady, love that one too.
My pleasure 😊
Elly, you are my guru! It was your videos that solved all my doubts and I have started making soaps! Love from India ❤
Thanks for your feedback though, I'm sure there will be more of my voice in future videos ;)
I don't have a recipe for hair conditioner just yet, but I'm starting to do a lot more research in that area.
Thank you, I'll be sure to bring the voice back for my next video! ;)
I missed the narration too, but rather enjoyed the low level soundscape in the background. As usual the instructional aspect was exemplary. Thank you Elly. :-)
Thank you. I really appreciate all of your feedback. I felt like being quiet for this one :)
I really like when DIY videos has the background sound(not any random music). Manly yours that looks heaven and there is no big city noises.

I had to pause the video, because I couldn't tell if the crickets were outside my window or yours!
Haha, yes I think they were mine!
I'm really looking forward to trying this! I'm also obsessed with your flat wire whisk, it looks perfect for soapmaking.

@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking hi elly! Thanks for sharing! I have been looking for a shampoo bar recipe for some time now! How long should we cure it?
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking What was the difference|?
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking if I make this cp, do I omit the 62g of ACV you saved for the end? Or do I add it with the rest?
I can't wait to try this!!!! But I miss hearing your soothing voice as we go along. :-)
Thanks Kelli, this is an old video of mine :)
What is the final pH of the soap? Cause you added some extra ACV at the end and I wonder if it had become lower
(sorry if my grammar is wrong, English is my second language)
Hi Lisa, the final pH is about 8-9, as it is for any handmade soap recipe. The ACV is not acidic enough to really affect the pH of soap - the lye is far more alkaline than the vinegar is acidic :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking could you use citric acid to make it less alkaline? Or would that interfere with the efficacy of the soap?

Yes, this is great made as CP!
Excuse my newbie question, but what is CP, I see it in another comment. Could it be Cold processed?? no idea

Beautiful thank you for this tutorial. If I were to make this CP I wouldn't need to add the additional 62g of AVC, correct? Thank you :)

Thank you Farah! I've got some great soap making videos in store for the rest of 2020 :)

200g olive oil
100 g coconut oil
100g avocado oil
30g castor oil
15g mango butter
10g cocoa butter
25g jojoba oil
20g sunflower oil
Hi Cynthia, I'm not an expert on what oils are best for hair, but I guess it's worth a try! Did you run the new recipe through a soap/lye calculator? You would definitely need to do this to make sure the lye amount is correct for the oils you are using.
I have a video that shows how to calculate your own recipes here:
How to formulate and calculate your own soap recipes
th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
And here is a link to the SoapCalc calculator if you want to check your recipe: soapcalc.net/calc/SoapCalcWP.asp
Yes I calculated it, for 3% excess fat I'd need 68g of lye and for 5% 67g lye. I'm just trying to make sure it'd be safe and a good mixture.@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking
It looks like a good mixture to me, but the only way to know for sure is to try it. Good luck with it!
Love your demonstration at the end!
Thank you for sharing. Could this same recipe be used in cold process? I have not yet ventured into hot process.

Thank you.
Hi Norma, I've had this whisk for so long I can't remember where I got it from! You can use any whisk or spoon to stir down the soap.
Thank you Elly. Love your videos
Found this type whisk in housewares. Not all stores carry it. I think it is more professional grade equipment.
It’s a gravy whisk, I think. 😁
great video !! thznk you but i have a question, hair and scalp pH is around 4 / 5 , so this shampoo bar can be harmful a bit no ? since its pH must be around 8 / 9 ...
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking thank you for your answer and your videos!! It's very instructive and kind of you to share these recipes with everyone ☺️
So ACV doesn't neutralize the lye like regular vinegar does
This ACV is the same strength as any regular vinegar, but in this amount it is not strong enough to neutralise the lye. Vinegar is far less acidic than sodium hydroxide is caustic, so it cannot be used to fully neutralise lye.
🌟༻🅹🅰🆈🅵🅰༺ ✓ • 5 years ago I was thinking the same.

Hi Elly. I’ve been enjoying your videos! Would you recommend dedicated equipment for soap making? (One stick blender for soap and one for food?)
If you can, it's good. Makes it a bit easier. But if not, you can just use the same equipment for soap and food, you just have to be sure you've got everything absolutely cleaned perfectly otherwise your food could taste a bit soapy! No harm done though :)
Elly's Everyday thanks, Elly!!
I buy my bulk EO's online, mostly from Escentials of Australia.

does this lather like store bought shampoo when in the hair? Thanks.
Thanks for your feedback - yes absolutely you can double this recipe and make it in a crock pot.

Hi Adrijana, you can swap the canola oil with olive oil in this recipe. I hope you can get olive oil!
Aren't mixing an acid and an alcline going to turn into water anyway?
No, the alkalinity of the sodium hydroxide (and the amount) is far greater than the acidity of the vinegar used.
@@EllysEverydaySoapMakingthanks a lot for answering this question
Thanks 🙏
Hi Elly, Have you tried to make a shampoo soap with rice water as the rice water is good for hair growth.
No, I haven't tried that.

Hi, yes you could rebatch it and add more liquid. Perhaps a touch more EO too!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking wonderful, thank you! Have a lovely day!
Yes, absolutely! This makes a perfectly fine body soap.
So.. do the oils leave your hair greasy at all?? is there a proper way to apply the shampoo bar to the hair?
Thank you!
Sooo does cooking it in the microwave burn up all the good stuff in there? Do you have cooking on the stove instructions
I show how to do that here th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
This chart might help you select a different oil www.lovinsoap.com/oils-chart/
Also you don't need a microwave at all. This soap would cook in about 20 minutes in a crock pot :)
