Great story. Can’t help think of a girl I grew up with who had been widowed 3 times by the time she was in her early 40’s, 2 from aggressive cancers and one a heart attack “very overweight”. Such a sweet girl, but all the single guys in the small town were scared to date her after that, she was referred to as “The Black Widow”. What a series of tragedies for such a sweet girl, life is tough some times.
She died in Marshall county -Mississippi in 1866. And that is where her grave is. I'm putting this comment here because for some reason I have no comment box.
I had a friend who by the age of 30 had buried a husband and 2 boyfriends. The husband self inflicted, due to schizophrenia,1 supposed self inflicted, but no one thought that was the case due to very similar circumstances in the apartment complex where he lived and the final,a plane crash. She was destroyed and was an alcoholic and drug addict, gone by 35. When I met her she was 23, very happily married, the mother of a 1 year old. It was an awful thing to watch.
@@dennisdollar3953 it’s off of Joe Quick Rd. Approximately a mile or so from 231 It’s a farmed field on the right side and you can see the Indian mounds there and the graves are in a stand of trees.
When I hear about these mid 18th c black widow cases, I sometimes wonder if the women were typhoid carriers. The bacillus that causes typhoid wasn’t identified until the 1880s but the disease was believed to have been around for centuries … of course so was plain old human greed.
That’s really cool and thanks for letting me know. Oh really seems like a long time ago when I first started four years ago, with the jiggly camera and terrible productions. But I guess it’s the same voice right?…. ha ha ha ha?
I have spent many hours at Maple Hill, but have spent most of my time in the “newer” part near the back closer to Dead Children’s Playground and have found it very peaceful; however, when I venture to the older part I get such an overpowering uneasy, almost sinister feeling. I’m not prone to putting much stock in such things, but I cannot shake the feeling. On another note: thanks for this story. Very well done.
That’s great to hear yeah I saw that dead children’s playground. Interesting. Well I’m sure you’ll recognize the mausoleum from this coming Sunday night’s episode there.
I live just a few miles from the black widow of hazel green. And her ghost roams the area. Maple hill cemetery has some interesting history for sure. Thanks for the video.
Happy Holidays! Mr. Ron, your intro with your drone is awesome. I was working for a church years back, one day I received a call from a priest that needed documents of marriage because he was concerned in regards of a lady that had been married 7 times who all husbands had passed away 2-3 years of being married and she wanted to marry her eighth husband. I remember the priest telling me, "Im suspicious." I told him, I would be to, and I would not even marry her with the eighth husband, no way Jozé"😊 I've always wondered whatever happened - if she ever married her eighth husband.
I had a Aunt Joanna who lost 4 husband's that all died from cancer. She is single right now and 93 years old. But she would be married but, she is not in real good health but I am betting she will be 100 or more before the good Lord takes her home...I love you Joanna..🙏❤🙏🤗
You should take a stroll through Rienzi Cemetary. There are many intriguiging headstones there. Maybe you could tell the story of someone there. Its so very beautiful.
I am from Huntsville and have many loved ones buried in that cemetery. It is a beautiful cemetery ☀️ i really hate to see some of the tall monuments pushed over .that is so disgusting that people do that .
It's sad that the cemeteries don't have respect for the graves and head stones. It wouldn't take much to care for them over the years. Once they're cleaned then it's just a yearly wash/rinse down. Why don't they fix the "stones" that have fallen over? It makes it look unkept and run down. She was married to the first hubby for 14 years, so I don't think she killed him. Why wait that long to do it? She didn't wait long with the others. She had slaves that would have seen or heard something. Maybe she was just very unlucky. Sad and does make you wonder. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
That's an interesting story and it's probably true that she poisoned her husbands. Too bad none of them were tested, which they would be able to do back then. She must have been quite wealthy. I imagine people would be somewhat afraid of her back then.
I grew up in Hazel Green amd lived just down the road from where the mansion used to be. As kids we used to go up there. Grew up hearing about the hats on the pegs my whole life, as you were telling the story I was wondering if you were going to mention them.
I like the way you tell the stories Ron of the Faces of the Forgotten because as you tell it, the people seem to come to life. I look around to see if these people do come to life. Not to pass judgement on someone I will leave that to Jesus as Elizabeth tells her story. Thank you Ron for a very interesting walk and may all her hubbies RIP ❤❤❤❤
Yes, I do think that something suspicious was going on. You are such a great story teller Ron. I always look forward to your stories. Stay safe and keep well.
I love all your videos ron this video looks amazing and I love all your videos and your a amazing guy and story teller making people remember the forgotten people

Or she had a white liver: The notion is that people afflicted with white liver incapacitate or kill a spouse or lover by literally draining them of their vital essence through inveterate coitus. An old wives' tale. My great great grandfather, buried all 5 of his wives.
I was really just shocked that there were only rumors but no formal inquiries from law enforcement for sure. I m really in awe that even tho every one of them died they just kept coming …..
I was born and raised in Huntsville. I remember going on school field trips to Maple Hill Cemetery. There is so much history in our town. I hope you'll do more videos here in Huntsville! 😊
Damn, what a wicked Woman she was. If she's not the definition of what a Black Widow is then I don't know what is, evil individual. I remember that video of the Woman in the Rocking Chair, that was a great video. As for this video, well done Ron. A very upcoming Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and my fellow FOTF Viewers
I think this woman enjoyed her notoriety and used it to keep people in line. I’m a big fan of an author by the name of Harnett Kane who wrote a lot of books about the colorful planters of the antebellum south.
People got away with a lot of shady and nasty stuff back then. You have to wonder about the men that are willing to step up and be numbers 3,4,5,6, or 7 to a widow.
Being a desendant of early settlers of Madison County, I've heaed the story of the High, Brown Route house all my life. (I'm 68). The thing that struck me was the arson of the house in 1968. My Great Grandfather's home was also arsoned in 1968, on Halloween night. You can see photos of his home in Dave Doolings "Pictorial History of Huntsville.
Wow this was a fascinating story Ron! She definitely did it, no way anyone would have that much bad fortune.!?! Did you think her first husband maybe she didn't kill, but the rest, YES?!! Absolutely cold blooded 😮 Really cool story Ron, and you are THE best storyteller out there ❤ Thanks!
It would be interesting to see the graves of her other husbands. I wonder if they were all covered with a cement slab so no one could dig them up for evidence. Who knows what goes on in people's minds. Merry Christmas, everyone! Thanks, Ron, for another great story!
I love how you use the drone and sweep in the graveyard with the haunting music , so beautifully done . Thanks again.

3 husband's, maybe, 4 if she lived a long life, but 5+ is a murderer.
I concur.

Thank you Ron!! You are the BEST!!!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!! And Merry Christmas to all the FOTF fans!!!!
Today she would probably be investigated certainly after a 4th husband. What a character. Thank you for this intriguing episode.

The Black Widow of Hazel Green sounds like a name straight out of a chilling crime novel-real-life horror is always the scariest.
