    1. You do NOT have to go to extremes when dieting.
    2. It takes time to see results.
    3. Motivation is fleeting!
    4. Try out all different forms of working out!
    5. The scale does NOT define your progress.

    #3 is so accurate!! I was a powerhouse for 30 days feeling great, looking great, but I eventually fell off the horse for about a week. It was soo hard to get back to it but I knew that at the end, I would regret falling back down to where I started. You're a great motivation for me. Your videos are genuine and so real. We need more people like you that are transparent and real!

    One thing I wish I knew before starting my fitness journey: everyone will have an opinion about whats the right way to do it; supplements are just that supplements; motivation will come and go but sticking to your routine is everything; progress takes a lot of time but its worth the wait; always choose fun in your workout split over what your fitspo is suggesting. Thank you for being so cool and transparent. Besitos!

    1 major thing was taking a break when I'm injured or I've strained a muscle. Super important not overwork a muscle and pay attention when you're feeling pain and to take a break.

    I really needed to hear this. 11 weeks at the gym, 4 times a week ... 3 days of weight training I day of cardio..... 3 pounds lost always ate healthy and drink lots of water. I relied on the scale (and how my cloths fit me). I was very discouraged and gave up this past week. Thank you for the motivation to get back at it😊

    Thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏 yes! #5 just hit me last week... I’d workout and feel great, eat healthy, weigh myself EVERY day! And then my happiness would drop if the number was not what I wanted. I haven’t weighed myself in 7 days and I’m the happiest I’ve been all year in the gym! It finally just clicked in my mind, I’m lifting heavier, eating better, and not focusing on the scale! You are beautiful and wonderful! It was helpful and enjoyable!

    Before I got into PA school over a year ago, when i was going to my gym where i moved from.. I do mostly weightlifting but I also did ignite at least half the days in a week. I also did things like ballet fusion, Pilates. I think it’s good to have a variety because they also work different muscles and do different things like lengthening, tightening, building muscle.

    This video was perfect for me because I’ve been in and out of the gym for 4 years. Husband went to boot camp and body snapped back in 5 months!!!! Crazy how I related to all these. Especially with the whole FEELING different. I used to weigh myself all the time and got down after not seeing a smaller number but my LEGS!!! they are wayyyyy slimmer and I’m loving my new body!!! Thanks for the motivation jazzypoo😘😘😘

    Currently starting my physical journey after 2 years really trying and it took me a long time to realize: don’t let the scale define. This is SO helpful as I continue my journey.
    I’d love to hear: how do you stay continue your fitness journey. What motivates you? What do you do when you feel in a slump?

    When i started, i started at 84 lbs lol and im at 105 lbs now and i look back at my old pictures, and let me tell you this, i am so damn happy!! The 4 years of working out and sometimes stopping have made me such a better person both physically and mentally. The gym is the only place that has helped me take all my emotions out. Im just so thankfully even to the mistakes that i made when starting off. I started eating better too. This was and has always been my favorite journey because of the progress that i have made

    • @JazmineGarciaTV
      @JazmineGarciaTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow 84lbs!! that was what i weighed when i was in an ED. that’s so beautiful to hear emely. seriously, that’s tremendous! i hope you keep pushing and continue making genuine progress. props!!

      Jazmine Garcia thank you jaz! You have truly been an inspiration to keep pushing myself! I was always picked on for looking anorexic, and it was really difficult to gain weight. It truly was. I didnt know how to even start my journey. I was really shy at the gym because i had no type of fat. I continued for 4 years whether i had stopped every other month or so, but it brought me back even stronger than ever. Im just really thankful for my journey and my hard work. Thank you for always inspiring people and letting us know that it is ok to do what your body desires because there will be times like u said that will not be the best and times when it will be and we need to listen to our body. Thank you ❤️

    I definitely wish I knew how important building muscle is. I was doing cardio for HOURS a day and losing weight, but I never felt happy with how I looked... plus I could never maintain it. Weight training literally changed my life

    One of the things I wish I knew before starting my fitness journey is to not lower my calories super low. Looking back, I was eating below my BMR while still working out 6 days a week and going to work (I'm a massage therapist). So with a physical job and all the workouts, I eventually crashed. I'm currently on a reverse diet and I'm eating way more than I ever have and am finally starting to see results again! It seems so counter-intuitive, but eating more/tracking what I'm eating has been a game changer. I now have a lot more freedom with food and my mental and physical health has improved drastically. Also, I ran into a binge eating problem when I was eating too low as well. I decided to cut out "cheat days" and just follow the 80/20 rule. So having different treats here and there throughout the week is a lot better for me. Some people do well with cheat days but for me, it would always get out of control.

  • @ccassielynnn

    A thing I think is important when working out is allowing yourself to have cheat meals, they're really good for motivation in my opinion. I used to be like "if I have this cheat meal it's going to set me back another week in goals or make me gain a pound." But that's so, so unhealthy because 1) there are 3500 calories in a pound, I'm probably only eating 800-1200 extra in my cheat day/meal. 2) Who cares if it's an extra week in reaching goals? The point is that I'm reaching them and not burning out from being too restricting with myself. A good video on this is Megan McCollum's binge eating video where she talks about her past binge eating. 3) Allowing myself a cheat meal allows me to plan and live my life with my friends and have a social life. It keeps balance. This was a really good video overall tho!!

    Something I wish I knew is that the treadmill/running isn't the only effective form of cardio! It was always recommended to me, and I really felt like it was my best option for my fat loss journey and that any other option was a waste of time. It killed me running 3-4 times a week because it just wasn't something I personally enjoyed. I still run sometimes, but only when I really want to!
    Also, been loving your videos! They're always interesting, and I like that they have a lot of different themes (fitness, clothes, challenges, vlogs, etc.) :)

    I wish i would have known how much nutrition affects us. If you’re killing it at the gym and not eating well, then you don’t know if you’re getting gains. My nutrition affects my motivation, my strength, my mood, and my focus. Once i eat terrible, my body feels it the next day. I wake up like it’s a hangover and my clients say the same things as well. Keep up with your gym routine and your eating. You’ll see results and you’ll feel unimaginable confidence.

    Oh my gosh Jazzy Fresh!! That was so on point, I was just telling Randi Kennedy about this topic. So much in the beginning your eyes are so big to everything and social media ads to the perception. I have so much to say but don’t want to flood your comment section. So hope I can meet you one day, just to sit and chat. I’m gonna have to talk about this more on my channel. I’ll mention you and tell people to watch this. Thank you!! You are amazing Jazzy Fresh! Happy 4th!! And the one thing I mentioned to Randi was I wish I knew about the healthy fats when I started 🙏🏾❤️. Much love J!!

    Love this! I’m on my journey to regain my health and my strength. I noticed that it’s much harder at age 40 to lose the weight. So it’s great to hear be patient it takes time. I decided no dieting just eating healthier, smaller portion size, and exercising regularly. I can feel the difference because I feel physically stronger. I did notice my weight on the scale is always fluctuating up and down. All I know is despite what the scale says I have made positive changes for me and in the end it will always pay off.

  • @kelemart
    @kelemart 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very informative!!! I loved what you mentioned about scales. For example, I hardly ever weigh myself. I normally only do whenever there are challenges in the all female gym I attend so that might be three times a year or so and the funny thing is I actually weigh more now than when I started my weight training. However, whenever people approach me they ask "You lost so much weight! What have you been doing?". I have to say "Actually according to the scale I`m 'fatter'". And they look at me flabbergasted. I`m obviously not fatter and my fat percentage is way lower now (something I trust more than the scale is body fat so I think it`s better to check that than go crazily weighing oneself) but if I freaked out about scales I would be in big trouble now and I would have probably quitted the whole thing by now.
    My addition to your list would be, take care of your mental health above everything and your self- esteem because in the long run they will matter more than appearance. I mean, it`s great to look hot but if your mental isn`t ok you might have a killer body and not even realize it. So working out regularly is as important as my daily meditation. Because at the end of the day not only what you feed your body will affect you but also what your feed you mind and spirit.

    This video was very useful, thank you for sharing Jazzy❤️❤️ it is helpful to remember these things along our fitness journey. One more thing that I wish I knew when I started is that it's not only squats that will give me a round booty:D I was obsessed with squats and other quad dominant exercises for years before I realized that they built my thighs much more than my glutes. But it's okay now, good thing that it's always something to learn:D

    Number five!! When I was in high school, I over heard two girls (twins sisters who are both like star athletes) talk about how they are considered over weight for their age and height category. However, they did not look at it at all!! These girls were physically fit and thin. That's when I realized that we cant trust the number on the scale to define us. But unfortunately, it's so hard to remember that the scale doesn't define progress, confidence, or the status of our health.

      Annie Vue just wanted to comment and say I’ve been going for 4 months and just seeing results now. It all takes time. It sucks but just keep going. It’s better to keep going and know results will show in the future rather than stopping because u don’t see anything now. Good luck!

  • @Joe.D.Sheppard
    @Joe.D.Sheppard 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The whole seeing progress thing is a big one, not just for those starting at the gym too. It gets difficult again after a little while when suddenly it takes, for example, two months to gain 10lbs on a lift. Whereas as a beginner it can be much easier to gain strength quicker, as your body reacts more to the new stimulus.

    When I was younger, I used to think, I could completely change my physique within 6 weeks by just doing one of those bodyweight workouts you can find in women's magazines. Those I found ridiculously easy and always wondered why they wouldn't change the way I looked. Well, they were too easy. And 6 weeks, hey yes in 6 weeks, things can change. You might feel more energetic and your back pain can disappear etc but you'll probably not have a shredded sixpack and a perfect bum after 6 weeks. I didn't know that, so I always thought, working out doesn't work for me. I was also used to eat tiny portions because my doctor had put me on a diet when I got into puberty because she didn't realize that my bone structure was changing and I wasn't getting fat. There were a lot of things that really put me in a bad place mentally and physically. I was feeling super weak, experienced pain in my joints and muscles, my back was constantly aching, my overall posture was very bad too. I was always told I had to live with it. Today I know that none of that was true.

    I would say one thing is that consistency doesn’t mean perfection. So let’s say you skip out on a day or even a week of the gym. It isn’t the end of the world. Just back where you left off!

    I don’t own a scale either. The only time I’m weighed is at my doctors appointments. I’ll log it in my apps and do what I can in the months between appts and see what’s changed the next time I go back. It’s like a checkpoint.

    Muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of fat and a pound of muscle is the same both a pound. The only difference is they look different. Yes muscle is more dense and takes up less space than a pound of fat. So body composition is going to look different. If the scale is going up it’s probably because you are gaining muscle mass under the layer of fat and not decreasing the fat mass. Or your loosing fat but gaining muscle so there is not much of a difference in weight.

      muscle is more dense and concentrated than fat. so yes, it changes your appearance ten fold but it also absolutely affects the scale as well

      THANK YOU! Soooooooooooo many chicks are guilty of repeating the nonsense that muscle weighs more than fat.
      A pound is a fucking pound ladies! It's the volume that makes all the difference.

      ANTR Throw the scale away, it will feel so freeing not to use it.

      I did this as well. It was so depressing and demotivating that I completely stopped training because I worked so hard and everytime I got on that scale, nothing changed. You should not measure yourself according to some numbers on a scale. I still struggle with it every day. The numbers on a scale doesn't always decrease, it might increase because you are building muscle. This is also something I constantly need to remind myself 💗💗

      Throw your scale away and instead start measuring your body parts (waist,thighs, arms,...) and then you’ll see progress which the scale is not going to show and take progress pictures
