*A few years ago did consider buying an EV in the UK as were stated to be the best thing since sliced bread however now so glad I opted instead to get a Mercedes late 2019 from a local main dealer - (W247) B200 CDi AMG 8 Speed [Diesel] with 81 miles on the clock (ex Demo) with all the latest tricks etc - and got a massive discount of nearly 10k from list price. This has absolutely amazed me, so so quiet, incredible range and over 35 mile journey (A6/A46) to Newark in Eco Mode [Freewheels when lifting throttle] did 93.2 mpg {UK Gallon = 4.54 Litres} and took a screenshot from Mercedes Me App to prove it - hit traffic near end so dropped a bit. This car will no doubt still be running in 20 years time and still giving good sensible practical use. I don't make many journeys outside most EV's Range, but during summertime take generally a trip every week of between 150-300 miles Cotswolds, Wales or Cromer - I start to Range Anxiety when see only have 60 Miles left in tank and warning light comes on ! - If I wished to sell it (which I don't) would expect to get around £22½k not much less than I paid for it ! - Say no more*

    • @casperhansen826
      @casperhansen826 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You cannot trust the numbers in the display, especially the mpg is more or less a random number
The only way to measure it is to fill the tank, drive a long distance back and forth and then fill the car at the same pump, then use the google maps to measure the distance, the formula is distance from google divided by gallons from the pump, it is most likely a totally different number.
Oh, don't expect your Mercedes to keep up for 20 years, they have lowered the quality significantly since they found out that most owners only keep them for a couple of years.

Electric motors are undoubtedly the future as eating synthetic food may one day be the norm.
But not today. We are not ready yet and the infrastructure nor technology is ready.
When ICE are finally phased out I hope gravity and electromagnetism will power the EVs.
For now and hopefully the next 20 years, I hope fossil fuels powers my vehicles. EVs pollute too; they just do it at the factories.

Too expensive, unreliable, inconvenient, finicky, dangerous, and after years of ownership you end up with basically a virtually worthless electronic device destined for the shredder.

Rather than being taken in hook, line and sinker by the oil-lobby propaganda, just try checking those facts. Fires? (Gas cars are 50 times more likely to catch fire than EVs. (Diesels are even worse.) Value? Like for like, EVs are no more pricey currently, and as gas cars become more expensive, the price of EVs is dropping every year. Range: If 200 miles seems to be more than enough for 99% of people, but if you’re the kind that regularly drives 400 miles without a coffee or going to the loo, then you deserve a medal. Car Life? There are many thousands of EVs running happily after 100,000 miles or more and keeping their value on the market. EVs have so many advantages - cost saving, cleanliness, no cancer-gases and particles, crash stability, (they don’t turn over), ease of charging (no gas station headaches), future-proof, etc etc
The proof of the pudding is that millions of EV owners are delighted with their experience and few would ever go back to petrol, if any.

You buy an ev and sell your old car, which means the old car is still on the road, net decrease in pollution is 0%. Batteries are a junk yard ecological disaster, and the nearest charger is never going to be close to you, because it doesn't pay Musk to put a dozen on every corner like gas stations. 15 minute charge means if you're the 4th in line you have at least an hour wait to charge up.

People do not want EVs; they want Teslas, cars designed by rocket scientists, built in America, and led by a true visionary.
    * Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) users have passed a significant milestone. Tesla drivers have driven over 1 billion miles on FSD. That’s a cumulative number of miles that exceeds the distance between the Earth and Saturn.
    * Tesla's Model Y just aced its safety exams, earning the highest possible score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
    * Model Y received the highest Overall Score among any vehicle tested under Euro NCAP’s newest, most stringent test protocol. This was based on an evaluation of Model Y’s ability to protect adults, children and vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians, as well as its safety assistance features.
    * The Tesla Model Y has broken through another price barrier, with the popular EV now cheaper than the average price paid for a new car or truck in the USA, shattering the concept that electric vehicles are too expensive for mainstream adoption.

They think if you build they will come. 3rd, too expensive for a market that's not mature or established. 4th, in some cases, it damages the environment more..i.e mining for cobalt and litium 5th, range gets compromised when it has heavy load or extreme weather

@@RacerX1971 It's hard to say what percentage want any product whose manufactured supply is less than current demand. Early production of any new product carries a higher price. The most popular model passenger car worldwide is a luxury BEV. In the EU BEV registrations are more than 10% of all new registrations. In China, the largest passenger car market, it's much higher. The amount of the precious metals mined for BEV is less the 0.03% of the amount of iron ore mined, less than 1% of oil pumped or coal mined - and the battery materials are recyclable. Ignorance is dangerous. The few EVs made today can do most of what ICE vehicles need to do. What they can't do is produce air pollution. EVs use less irreplaceable resources over their lifetimes. They take roughly the same total amount of materials to produce, most of which - including the batteries - is recyclable. The majority of new electric generating capacity is from sun, wind, and solar. This energy is intercepted, used within a short tine and all returned to the planet as the same amount of heat it would have been if not intercepted. Each ICE will burn thousands of pounds of petroleum over its lifetime, all of which was stored inertly for millions of years, and release tens of millions of Kcal of energy as heat.
