I started in February this year, but I had different goals in mind at that time which were unrelated to what you see. Overall, I would say that it took four months total to build from scratch. I did all the work myself, from the mechanical design to the electronics to the software. I am still working on it to improve control and to make it more intelligent (adding vision). Anyone can do it, as long as they have determination! :)
Thanks! Sorry for this much delayed response... Since I have Ubuntu installed, I used QtSixa. Once connected as an HID device I read the raw data ( /dev/hidraw0 typically ). This has acceleration data.
That's fantastic! Looks scary to me, I hate spiders and this robot would be a real nightmare if it moved a little bit quicker. Anyway, you've done a great job, hope to see some upgrades or maybe a new type in the future.
It is mostly wobbly due to the tibias being really flexible. In the next version I have upgraded the femurs and tibias, and so far it is performing much better. Hopefully I'll get a vid of it up soon.
Nice job!! I have to ask, though: how are you getting the accelerometer data off of the ps3 controller. I've used the SDL library in C++ to interpret the controller as a HID ..device, but I don't remember being able to grab the accel data. Wonderful project!
Very cool, are there any papers describing how you generate your movements? Also does the IK software assume a flat plane where gravity is straight down?
any chance you would be interested in selling some of these? I work at Intel in the embedded division and we make the processor/chipset in the fit-pc2, and this is a great embedded demo.. dm me on twitter @intel_stewart
How could you even think of coming up with such a concept in the first place??? Excellent!
Was looking into a video on ADA programming and came across this in the YT algorithm, this is straight up sick!!!
Not a problem at all--I really appreciate you getting back to me. I'll definitely give this a shot in the coming weeks. Many thanks for the reference!
I seen you on my newspaper on the UofA..Congrats :)
Wow, surprisingly short time span in which you build this robot, I might take a shot at it someday too.

I'd love to have a hexapod if it's controlled like that. Really good idea there!
Thanks!

and she didnt kill herself this time... great work once again.
I THOUGHT X WAS JUMP BUT STILL ITS AMAZING...
That is ridiculously amazing! What's the next step? Are going going to try to make it move faster? Make it fully wireless?

Thanks! I am a senior in electrical engineering, I graduate in May.

The music fits perfectly to the video :)
Some sort of SSH client. I forget the specific name, but there are a few available in the app store.
Nice. Check out Odbot's Hexpod with two independently moving eyes. (Essentially a Decapod)
I love how you accomplished this using a playstation controller!
Awesome!!!
What did you study ? ...
Mechanical Engineering ?
Robotics ?
You should power it with an onboard rc 11.1v lipo batteries
@blegas78 if you don't mind. How hard was it?I like everything about electronics but I'm not strong in math and can't decide.
Can u recommend me a good online shop where i can buy the servos? , i cant find 1 servo motors shop here (Latin America, panama)
agood afternoon could tell me which board you use to use the command of the PS3 to control the hexapod
i just want to say,you are ready to fly dude ;)
микрокоентроллер подойдет за 1,5$ atmega 8 для создания такого? или нужен чуть дороже?

Heh, I like how when you hit the PS button the bot shudders and slowly falls to the ground like its dying :)
What language are you using for the hexapod?
What kind of app were you using??
please make a tutorial , i have a hexapod with ssc-32, raspberry pi, bud need a software, to control it with a ps3 controler

Линукс на телефоне! Обалдеть!
Танец живота делать умеет?
That's the problem now days you build bigger robots you need more power...

Now just attach an airsoft gun and a button to fire it, there you go.
