You are the GOAT! The best, most perfect settings. After hunting for so long I finally found them. Ty
Thank you. Helped a ton. Gaming at first everything looked worse than my older Samsung 4k TV. I was about to bring this one back until now
Perfect speed mate, thanks for getting to the point.
Brilliant video. Thanks
Looking forward to finally buying this in the 85" size this year. Can't wait.
Thanks for this setting is verry nice !
@Classy Tech Calibrations Congrats for your content, Classy! You are by far the most reliable calibrator on TH-cam and I spread your videos so that more people get to know your work and support your channel. One question please: I have a qn90b firmware 1430. Should I disable both HDR10+ Gaming and Game HDR? Do the 19 clicks on ps5 apply to all cases? Thanks.
Excelent. First config done.
Thank you Classy for this information. So does this mean I have to change the settings when going from sdr content to hdr content? Can I not just leave the settings on one of the two no matter what I'm watching? Thank you
Peter
Thanks
OK after all that I realized that I was following your calibration for the QLED I have Samsung S90C QD OLED which is a OLED so hopefully those calibrations won’t be to bad for now they look good looking forward to that coming out soon your calibrations on that one S90C
@Classy Tech Calibrations: Thank you! As always great video, two quick questions. Firstly is the led grid matrix pattern I'm seeing in content normal for mini led tech & I'm more sensitive to it after having my A80j OLED as my main TV for so long. Secondly which local dimming setting gives the deepest blacks even if it's not the most accurate. Thanks
Please. On what basis a you doing these setting. Did you use a measurement from a calibration tools as a reference or it is just from your experience and observation testing?
Great video. Looking forward to the Sony a95L settings video.
Are these setting available anywhere in written form. I’m about to buy this TV and would love to have a checklist to work off of.
Great video and thank you… Please help me out with this. I just recently purchased the QN90C and for some reason Filmmaker mode is not an option in the settings. Is it because I updated the Tv first? 🤷♀️ Please help me out and thanks again.
I want to thank you for your video I’ve watched it over and over and over numerous times I finally understood what you were doing with the SDR dark SDR bright HDR bright HDR dark I realize now when you’re in a high definition resolution picture it actually defaults and will automatically pick What you were denoting in your video and I was able to figure it out basically the only question I have for you is for some reason and I have a brand new S 90 C I don’t have local dimming in any of those settings I have peak contrast as I believe is what it’s called not local dimming I have contrast enhancer and then I have peak brightness I think is what it’s actually called I don’t know if that’s the answer now if that was an update as it was just delivered to me yesterday and installed yesterday and I’ve been playing with it ever cents and going over your videos they’ve been very helpful I know some of my comments may have seemed incorrigible and that’s not my point I was just trying to ask questions and understand but after living with your video for the last 24 hours I finally figured out what you were trying to say but local dimming does not exist for me and I don’t know if that was an update can you advise I have what’s called peak brightness off medium or high is what they have no local dimming
You don't need local dimming. You have an OLED screen, every single pixel automatically gives you "local dimming".
Great that BT. 2020 is usable now on some of the Samsungs. Will be interested to see how it tracks on the S95C.
Was it not usable before? Was it only DCI-P3 that was usable for HDR content before?
Any plans for PC mode Game mode?
You think any hf these QN90C features be migrated to QN90B?
QN90B updated to 1520. version. Please new settings?
Which pattern do you reccomend for setting contrast and shadow detail?
Which do you like more? This or the LG G3?
Thanks for all your help on the G3 thread on AVS.
G3
Do i have the intelligente mode on or off? Or is the filmmaker setting good for all?
Do you think these setting will work well with the 85" QN900C?
These settings do not apply to 43" and 50" models... I tried it here and the results were different, please do an update of this video focusing on the VA panel versions
Yes please!
Have you found a decent calibration for the VA?
is the 50"inch of this model is a VA panel? i thought they were all IPS ADS panels
Yes, va
Did you guys have the setting for 43 and 50 inch variant?
Great Video classy. Any word on when you would be getting your hands on with Lg C3?
Buy the G2, much better tv. I spend some time yesterday in store with a 77” C3 and honestly for the $3500 price tag get the G2 or save money and get the C2.
Seriously unimpressed with any difference between the C2/C3 based off of initial impressions.
@@tears2040 I believe you are correct, on paper there is hardly any difference between C2 and C3, but the processor seems to be a decent upgrade based on fomo's video. I am yet to see many reviewers do a hands on with LG C3.
@@suraj4020 I will get the C3 probably in May.
Great....thanks for starting in the speed round, right inn the middle like we already know, so what's the point!?
CLASSY I have a 900b. Is game hdr broken on this set? Should I have it off completely? I know is broken in the 90b. But I have the 8K
Hello, can you tell me what is the size of your QN90C?
So when do you pick the different settings I.e after you set the levels you suggest. Does the tv pick it for you based on what the source is or are you picking the setting I.e film maker or movie how does that work
Figured I'd add a reply in case others were confused about this as well. The only setting change you need to make is between Movie and Filmmaker based on the the room being bright or dim. SDR to HDR content will changed based on the content so no change is needed other than the room conditions once again.
So , I'm on a 43" ( IPS I think) version of this TV and found by hasard a n amazing solution during a TH-cam video of the game Visage in 4K. Just go back to settings reseted for games on your console, reduce if you want to 40 the luminosity and contrast. Local dimming low contrast enhancer off and remove auto HDR remastering also keep everything like before ( colour tone standard, colour space settings native) and put down SHADOW DETAIL -5 at the minimum, then surprise!!!!!!!!
Return even on gamma and put back to 2.2 and voila !
You're welcome if it works ( and it should greatly)
Thanks I also have the 43". It's a VA panel BTW This solved the weird artifacts I was getting around light sources
@@MtnNerd like some halo of lights for example, and yes it is a VA panel for the 43 and 50 inches

This settings are for SDR?. I also have the 43" qn90c. Can you explain if i have to reset the picture settings before. I play on PC
@@juanmag2k I still have HDR on. Turn on game mode. Go to expert settings and turn down shadow enhancement etc. Auto HDR is different from in game HDR. Also you need to enable HDR and 144hz in Windows settings
hello ? is the 90c good for pc gamming thank you
The 43" is a different panel, would all of this apply to it as well?
Im using it as a monitor.
Will you be getting the QN95C Classy? And do you expect it to be better than the oleds?
At some point I will, and dont expect it to be better in OLED for dark scenes. No LCD will be.
Having difficulty understanding sdr signal modes. What is that? Netflix, Prime or all the streaming sevices? There are shows on these services that offer HDR as well I think. So I wanna config my tv for all SDR signals without knowing what that is doesnt help me lol I also wanna calibrate it for Bell Fibe Tv which is like fiber optic internet TV.
There is some configuration so that the TV has the perfect image for games ? I just bought the Qn90 43 and I'm using it as a monitor. if you can help, several people have 43, but most videos, websites have settings, 55 above where the panel is not VA. Thanks
When will you have the settings for the Samsung S90C OLED
is this the 50" or a bigger size?
Hi does these apply to smaller models 43 50 va panels?
Would this be the same for the qn95c?
Hello
Thank you for the tips
Does this apply for all panels? My 50“ has a va panel
Also for my panel somehow movie mode is brighter with your settings but only in hdr mode.
Thank you
is it better to set game mode off in order to get brighter images and better local dimming?
No
Brother i just bought this tv 55 inch for gaming on ps5. I was playing infamous second son on this sometimes some its too bright like when game shows sunlight. And it put strain on my eyes And in some areas of the game its too dark. What are best picture settings in game mode. Please help brother
And my room is little bright not too bright. Please help thanks🙏
I can't find best settings for the S90C. Do you have a video because I can't find.
Why does local dimming low produce better black levels?
It uses dead pixels recreate deep blacks. It should be off but Samsung doesn't give you the option so low is always best.
From my experience when set to HIGH it actually darkens the black levels too much resulting in loss of detail.
*correct if wrong
the correct option is medium
I cannot get filmaker mode in my picture options, it’s only giving me intelligent mode with 2 options, optimised or eye comfort?
turn the intelligent mode off..

Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately the PC mode on this model in broken, it doesn't handle RGB Full output correctly. classy - advise- my new qn90C 75, has flicker on parts of screen there here is vertical / checkerboard style content, like window blinds, vertical items in images. - only this part of screen flickers, not all screen.- I don't see this type of issue/behavior on S95B on same content.
Does QN90B has HDR Tone Mapping Static/Active setting? thx
No
No.. it in essence will be always active tone mapping (the brighter of the 2) which personally I would always be in anyways
I bought this tv to use as a monitor for my computer. The only problem is that after the tv’s been off for a while it doesn’t recognize that my computers on. I try hitting enter on my keyboard and moving the mouse but it still shows that my computers off. The only way to get to my computer is by turning it off and on. Then the tv sees it. After 2 calls with Samsung the problem still exists. I have the latest 2.1 HDMI cable and have tried it in different ports. Does anyone know if there’s a setting somewhere that I’m missing. I never had this problem with my older Samsung tv that I loved but it only had a 60 refresh rate so it couldn’t keep up with my new operating system.
Super dumb question, but how do we make sure we're on a SDR signal?
First tv I’ve bought using hdr. Applied your settings for hdr gaming and it looks pretty dim compared to sdr.
Is this expected?
How did you determine time mapping was still happening when game hdr (hgig mode) was enabled?
With SDR when you increase brightness the whole image increases. With HDR only highlights are supposed to get bright and everything else mostly stays under 200nits.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations thanks for getting back to me.
In regards to hgig calibration via the Xbox hdr calibration , is the tv still tonemapping with the latest firmware?
I’ve enabled the game hdr setting and it seems the maxTML and MaxFFTML values I’m getting is 1100 which is very low. You set yours to 1700, rttings states it’s around 2000 (peak 10% window) so not sure what’s the best option
@@blackops268 if you have one of the smaller sizes (I believe the 50in and lower) those perform differently and are around 1100 nits or so.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations can I trust the calibration screen tho? I can’t really tell easily if there is some tonemapping going on. It was certainly an issue in older Samsung tvs but not sure about the current state of it
@@blackops268 with game HDR basic turned on, yeah just set it where it clips and goes all white.
Hey! I have a 2 friends with the 43 and 50 inch model (va panel) and both in gaming mode and filmmaker mode it clips at 1100 nits, is that correct?
It has 2000 nits
@@Ehrle6969 it clips at 1100 on the smaller models of 50/43 since its using VA panel, the other models are IPS so they are brighter
@@sergz8241 cant be all 50 inch r with 2000 nits higher models got more nits. I checked every source in google
@@sergz8241the panels dont matter with hdr, samsung nerv all tv overtime with loosing peak brightness, in real time viewing the max nits are 1500 around. So all Versions got same peak brightness.
@@sergz8241 I don't think being brighter is about the panel type (in real content not sure though...as an ADS/IPS panel might need to restrict brightness more than a VA panel since it has a lower panel contrast otherwise it might have more blooming) it's just that the smaller models have less max brightness than the bigger models since they are smaller and cheaper and but they do have other gaming features like 144Hz instead at least on my 43" QN90B. All smaller models normally have less brightness and features like worse sound. Since these are used for monitors and bedroom TVs they don't need as much brightness anyway, you are going to sit closer to the screen than if you have a bigger model. I heard the 55" (1300 nits) isn't much brighter than the 50" (1200 nits) and the 50" isn't much brighter than the 43" (1100 nits) but the 65" gets you alot brighter in comparison (1700 nits), this is in FMM, in Dynamic Mode they go brighter again like around 2700 nits for the 65".
Do you think the QN90C is a better Tv than the QN800C? What settings do you recommend for QN800C?
Haven't seen the 800C but the mid/lower 8k models generally are software restricted to some degree compared to the 9 series TVs, and has looser factory calibration standards.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations thanks for answering. I purchased the 85” QN90C for my living room with a great deal for Veterans, and the 85” QN800C for my basement with a great deal as well. When comparing it seems the QN90C offers better color, brighter screen and less blooming. I was thinking maybe it’s the calibration. I used the same exact settings on both TVs. I’m considering returning the QN800C to get another QN90C and save about $600. Makes me wonder if 8K is reality (particularly with “upscaling”). Again, I was really wondering if calibration would make a difference. I got the QN800C for less than $2700 shipped.
@@PhAtALTheKollector I would definitely say return it and get the 90C instead and save the money. 8K LCDs can't resolve full 8K resolution anyway, and there's really no benefit. The QN90C is a better overall TV.

@@ClassyTechCalibrationsThanks for answering this question
How is ghosting with pc tho
I’ve got this very same model, yet despite the same settings, mine looks a lot less brighter than yours.
Are you still liking this tv. Gaming on this tv is to heavy on my eyes no matter what setting i put it on. Was thinking of going to the C3
The Samsung QN90C ist Flicker Free in Game mode. Why is it heavy on your Eyes? Is it to Bright, or is it in PC-Game Mode?
I tried both dark room and light room hdr settings but absolutely nothing changed, the images are almost identical. In addition they come out very dark, very warm tones and sometimes the images look yellowed compared to the natural colors. Also, when watching sports programs the colors come out faded and dark. Setting in smart or standard mode there is plenty of brightness and sharpness is quite relative. How can I solve this?
When you say go to power and energy saving you said you want to check this . Did you mean check this to turn them off??? Eco off? Energy saving ????
Can someone provide settings just for basic picture? I don't care about HDR as I will ensure its off.
What does SDR mean using buzz words for those who are new

Some of my settings are unavailable. Why is this ?
Does anyone know why we have to switch to BT 2020?? What if I like the more pop color volume of native?? Anyone know. He doesn’t really say
Native is very inaccurate and over saturated. If you like it, you can use it if you want to.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations thanks for the feedback classy!! How about 2020? Is that also giving you a sorta pop but more accurate????

What does this BT 2020 setting or thing I see mentioned?
I just noticed a weird issue ive been having on pc, and i wonder if anyone has noticed this. When gaming, im having extreme black smearing EXCEPT if i put my games in 1440p resolution. Im really scratching my head on this one.
Im using hdmi 2.0. tv detects pc mode, and game mode. I put 4k resolution on the pc, etc. ive been searching everywhere for an answer. I have no choice to play everything at 1440p because of this...
Edit: I finally found out whats going on. the tv forces its own fps lock depending on the resolution. And because my graphic card has hdmi 2.0 output, i cant have the max of 120 fps. so when putting the tv at 4k, it locks me at 60fps for all resolution execpt 1440p, at 120. to fix this, i have to put my desktop at 1080p, 120 fps and use DSR instead
VA panel or IPS?
43 50 va above ips
Im confused about local dimming. Is he saying low is better because the local dimming is so bad, its better to have as little as possible of it. Or is low actually, the highest quality?
The naming is poor, think of it as 1, 2, or 3. 3 (high) dims the most and suppresses/crushes dark detail. 2 (standard) boost brightness. 1 (low) in SDR is best for accuracy and details since it keeps the gamma flatter and doesn't crush detail. At 100-200 nits in SDR the backlight isn't being used very much so black levels are already good enough without the local dimming working hard.
Thank you! Got the tv recently. Been trying it out in all the ways possible and im pretty happy with it!
SDR????

I have a feeling they change the term local dimming to peak brightness so I’m trying to use that in relation to what you’re saying in your video as close as possible
The S90C is an OLED, there would be no local dimming for it. That and peak brightness are two different things.

Are you talking about ABL?
HDR when accurate is an absolute luminance, and when a TV overtracks EOTF it will make everything brighter than it should be. So a 500 nit if overtracking EOTF can be brighter than an accurate 5000 nit TV that does follow EOTF.
Changing HDR10+ setting to either off or on DOES CHANGE THE BRIGHTESS OF HIGHLIGHTS just as the other youtuber "Public tech Instance" also measured in his video!!! Everyone should know that by now just as most of owner in the AVS forum know about it.
Not on the QN90B or QN90C it doesn't.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations I can guarantee you its the same on these models.
